That prestige class suggestion was made in the expectation that Luna may become Wolf kibble. If that does happen, I was going to go a different route in my class choice; either as a cleric (for the healing effect), or as a warrior - going as either a monk or a paladin. Not that I want to lose Luna; I love that character, and I don't want to lose her.

The combination of Monk/Evangelist, Cleric/Evangelist or Paladin/Evangelist make a potent combination of abilities.

So, did the spell go off, or did the grapple disrupt it too much to work?

What spell? Shoot. You posted that an hour ago and I never got an alert on it... *going to read now*

Also, with each description of the gods that I posted, they include the Obedience required.

Obedience Inscribe blessings to Nethys, arcane formulae, and lines of prayer on a blank parchment. Don’t inscribe a complete spell—only notations sufficient to potentially spur a reader to study magic in an effort to complete the incantation. At the culmination of your obedience, cast any spell or spell-like ability or activate a spell completion or spell trigger magic item. Gain a +4 sacred or profane bonus on concentration checks. The type of bonus depends on your alignment—if you’re neither good nor evil, you must choose either sacred or profane the first time you perform your obedience, and this choice can’t be changed.

Obedience The Dawnflower values the redemptive powers of compassion and patience, and extends them to all who might be capable of good. Offer to heal a stranger of his wounds, either by using the powers granted to you by Sarenrae or with a potion, scroll, or other item you

possess. Tell the stranger it is by the will of Sarenrae that you share your healing gifts. You may also use your Heal skill to perform this act of healing service. If you can’t find a stranger who will accept your offer, stand beneath the open sky during the daylight hours. Blindfold yourself

with a red-and-gold scarf and try to locate the sun in the sky through the layers of fabric. Gain a +2 sacred bonus on

Perception checks.

O.K. First off, Action Points can only be added to d20 rolls of some kind (Initiative, Saves, skill checks, etc. but not damage). So, count that point as unspent. However, with that roll, Luna definitely got the spell off! Nice!

Secondly, where are you reading that kind of damage for Force Missile? 4d4+8? The description from Pathfinder sayeth,

Force Missile (Sp)

As a standard action you can unleash a force missile that automatically strikes a foe, as magic missile. The force missile deals 1d4 points of damage plus the damage from your intense spells evocation power. This is a force effect. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.
(bold mine)

Magic Missile does a d4+1 per missile, then adding in 1/2 my level rounding up, it makes it the 4d4 +8. So, if I misread that the missiles only do the d4, I still do the 4d4+4

Re: Force Missile. That's Magic Missile, Sherwood. Luna cast Force Missile in the description you gave.

Her spells. I pray to Boccob, let this work! "Force Missile!"
The damage is different for that spell.
Re: Evangelist. Sherwood, that's fine for those gods in that campaign, but I don't know who the heck these Nethys and Dawnflower people are. I take it they're from the book you quoted this from? Are you just using them as some kind of example? Also, are you drawing some kind of parallel between Nethys and Boccob or something?

Also, I'd need the information on the Divine Boons they ask for. I'd rather not just make that stuff up without more information. =)

Anyways, I'm out for tonight (work tomorrow). Have fun and take care, you!

Tomorrow, Round 5 (@Captain Hesperus Please let me type up what happens at the beginning of Round 5 prior to posting? I think everyone will want to know what happens)!

Ok. I'll adjust my sheet to show the damage of the force missiles as only a d4, not the d4+1 of a magic missile.

As for the Evangelist class, I fully expected you to have objections to it due to having different gods, but if I don't ask, the answer is always 'no'. It was worth a shot.

Ahhh, sleep is wonderful! Good morning, folks! =)

Sherwood, re: Force Missile. Just to make sure you and I are on the same page here, while both the Magic Missile and Force Missile spells strike unerringly, the Force Missile spell fires only one missile every time it is cast. In other words, Luna's Force Missile does d4+4 damage each time it is cast while her Magic Missile does 4d4+8 damage per cast. That's how it reads to me, bud. Do you read it differently?

Re: Evangelist. I am requesting more information, not turning the class down. The information presented is incomplete. The Evangelist Prestige Class covers just about every god in every pantheon in Sharseya, right? Well, to approve I will have to see the boons and Divine Obediences mentioned in the text you provided. They ask you to turn to page so-and-so and read there. I am asking for that information. I've learned that not having a full understanding of a class can come back to bite me in the tush and cause confusion in our game. I am trying to avoid that. =)

@Sherwood Now that I've had some sleep and some breakfast (O.K., a slice of apple pie with some milk, hee hee), I've come to a conclusion: How about if we say that Luna cast Magic Missile instead of Force Missile? Would you be willing to rewrite your last in-game post to reflect that?

Intention means a lot. Just as you wrote that Luna was running at top speed to help her fellow Wanderers, now Luna is fighting for her life under desperate circumstances. Somehow, I get the impression (and please do correct me if I'm mistaken) that Luna is trying to kill this fucking warg that's on top of her? Heh! Since Force Missile and Magic Missile require the same Concentration check (which Luna succeeded on), and since there seemed to be a misunderstanding concerning the damage of those two spells, how about we say she used her "long-arm" instead of her "sidearm" and fired the more-lethal Magic Missile?

As before, please read the in-game thread first! =)

Combat initiative order (Round 5):

19 - Otiorin (Wearing Ring of Mind Shielding. Ring of Force Shield active. Moonlit Edge in main hand.) Performed successful sneak attack with Critical Hit on Monk/Mage Green.

18 - Powerpaw (Powerpaw is down and unconscious.)

17 - Monk/Mages of Wee Jas (5) (Monk/Mage Red is lightly damaged; cast upon Bren to no effect. Monk/Mage Blue attacked twice on Bren and missed. Monk/Mage Orange has just taken 15 "Moar" points from Powerpaw; he uses his Magic Missile spell to light up Otiorin for 9 hit points of damage. Monk/Mage Green is dead in a pile of smoking ash. And... even to my surprise, Monk/Mage Purple just dropped Powerpaw in a single combat round...).

17 - The Dire Wolf of Dalsus (Engaged in a Grapple with Luna.)

12 - Brendoran (Wearing Wedding Ring. Battle Axe +2 in main hand, heavy metal masterwork shield in off-hand.)

6 - Luna (Engaged in a Grapple with the Dire Wolf of Dalsus. Wearing Ring of Mind Shielding.)

Little thoughts....

1.
@Wolf Rawrrr I see that Wolf is on his way back to warn everyone. Given the distance he has to travel, it will take some time, but if anything can move fast in a forest, it's an expert-level ranger filled with purpose in the form of a wolf! =)

That's ok. But he should be able to stalk everyone unnoticed when he does arrive and cause some critical surprise. I hope *woof*

I thought that the force missile got extra missiles every other level the same way that Magic Missile does; that is why I rolled the 4d4, since I would have had four bolts go off. I will have to rethink my spell choices in the future, and will edit my sheet to show only one bolt fires at a time. (:'()(>8U)

Thanks for letting me change the spell that I cast to Magic Missile. I honestly thought that the Force Missile was different, and I wasn't trying to cheat, I promise. (O:))

After reading about how our reinforcements are on their way, it gives me hope that Luna might just survive her time as a doggie chew toy. But, I know it will hurt like hell when the mutt bites her. Let's hope he rolls badly on damage; mages don't get many hit points.

I was asking about the Evangelist class as a backup for Luna. I'll only have to a worry about it if she doesn't make it through this fight. Also, I changed my IC post to show Luna casting Magic Missile instead of her Force Missile.

In the future when we get a new Signature Ability, could I make my force missiles work like magic missiles? Or would that be too powerful?

@Wolf Rawrrr Hold your horses there, Sir Wolf. Unless the Wanderers somehow make this battle last longer than it seems to be going, I can forsee no way that Leonard will arrive in time to roll Initiative and join.
Please remember that Leonard is over 1/2 a mile away "as the crow flies" from this scene. From your last post, you have Leonard heading to the Road of Kings (west) then south along the highway (which is wise from a practical perspective, but it is not the straight route back to where the battle is currently going on).

Even at his fullest speed through the thunderstorm, he will arrive after the battle.

@Sherwood Yeah, that's a bit too powerful for a Signature Ability at the party's current level (8 Magic Missile spells per day as a Spell-like ability before Luna gets into her 1st level spells?). I can see increasing the damage of her Force Missile spell (at her current level to double the dice damage or 2d4+8 per casting)...

@Captain Hesperus There are times I let the experience of the character work in favor of the player; now is such a time. The Daze cantrip works only on creatures of 4 Hit Dice (levels) or lower. Otiorin the character (in my opinion) is of a level himself to be strongly certain that the Dire Wolf of Dalsus is over this limit (which means Otiorin's spell will be as useful as a Charm spell on one of Elven blood - wasted). Maybe you want to cast or use something else?

Also... while Real Life had me away today I forgot to add something to that last scene... I am writing it now. Cap'n, Otiorin is free to change his action if he chooses (though helping Luna is definitely a terrific idea right now!).

Dann and I were talking about this, and I wondered aloud if maybe Luna's next Signature Ability could add a second missile to her Force Missile. "That wouldn't be too powerful, right? And it would be the same damage as doubling it. And does it really matter if the damage comes from one missile or two, if it's the same amount? I mean, it always hits..." At that point Dann started to say something, then got that GM-look of "oops, can't tell you that." All the same I realized - yes, it does make a difference - later on when we start facing people with damage reduction, it could matter a lot because two missiles means two damage sources - which means damage reduction could apply twice, whereas if it was doubled damage on one missile, it would only apply once, and hence having one big missile would be better than multiple smaller ones.

Just some food for thought I wanted to share. :)

Also, I love this:
Any rational mind would have said 'Rebuke the pretty bauble', but Otiorin's mind, being that of a creature of habit, said 'Disregard hazard, acquire bauble".

I love that line too. I laughed when I read it! =)

O.K.! In-game post is all caught up now. Yay! =)

No worries on the Signature Ability. Just a thought. Adding a second projectile to the Force Missile ability is something to think about.

*points at her earlier post*

And here is something I've been wanting to bring up ever since the people at the Adventurers' Wagon told me what they were doing... Folks? This Charge of the Adventurers' Wagon crew thing? You made this happen; you got this ball rolling over a year ago. =)

When the two hobbits were supposed to be food for "The Beast," what did you do? Tell them to hoof it to Highwind on their own? Give them a handful of coins and tell them to make for the "safety" of Summerset? Nope! You kept Bonny and Whittle around, learned about them and their situation, and made them part of the "family." =)

When Otiorin tackled Stewart when you were freed from the Prison Wagon, did you guys kill the first servant of Bilal the Rich that you saw? No! You got to know him, let him serve you, and allowed him to be a part of it all. You were even quick about saving him (Kitrin and Bria) when Bilal's "dancing girls" assumed their true forms and struck him through the chest with one of their magical swords. He survived thanks to you guys. =)

When the "Catch of the Day" turned out to be Mamapaw in a cage and Powerpaw went berserk to save her, you not only backed him up but you got to her before the ogres killed her (and they were trying!)! Now, she is a trusted member of the (back-up) team and living her dream of traveling the world with her son. =)

If you had done none of this, there would be no one riding to the rescue out of love for your characters.

Your actions brought that love to life. Good going, Wanderers. =)

Well, I can't speak for everyone else, but I was just doing what felt right.

Oh. You're right, of course. I just had no sense of distance or time. Doesn't change the plan, though *rawrrrr*

I also haven't been reading anyone's updates but mine since Wolf split on his own (thanks for using tabs), in an attempt to make true decisions and not be influenced by what was going on elsewhere. I did gather there's some kind of combat going on because I couldn't miss the OOC chat but I still have no idea how it's going. The only reason why I knew Luna and Bren joined it was also because of the OOC.

I assumed the battle would last because the Wanderers were not in full number (at least not until recently I guess), but at the same time they're skilled enough not to get killed on the spot even outnumbered. But given the charge I just read about I guess it will be over soon. No problem. I pretty much forgot how to do pathfinder combat anyway, since it's been months from the last time I had to use it lol *woof*

Well, I'm kinda at a loss then. I have no offensive spells, no missile-type spells at all and the only other useful spells are touch-range or personal and I already have buffs that equal them (armor and force shield ring). So beyond stabbing someone, I have no clue.

Also, would Bria getting up provoke an attack of opportunity from MM Orange, since she's within his reach?

Captain Hesperus

If memory serves, Otoirin has balanced throwing daggers and a short bow? If he takes a 5-foot step (which never provokes an attack of opportunity), he can draw that shortbow and then fire on a target of his choosing (which might be his best bet). He might also cast Summon Monster I and have it come in anywhere within 40 feet of him. If you choose this route, know that the little beastie will also act immediately. You may select the creature in question (or roll d20 to see what answers your call - some creatures in this case are not on the list). The creature is only 1st level, but it does threaten space.

Whoops! As for Bria, you're right! Technically, Otiorin moves before Bria gets up. After Otiorin acts, I'll resolve the attack of opportunity on Bria. Thanks for pointing that out (neither her character nor I like the idea of her having not realized that by rising, she provokes, but it is understandable given her state, and above all - it's fair as the rules go).

EDIT: Anyone else have any ideas? =)
