Good thinking, Sherwood. It beats a 4 anyway. =)

That reminds me, I don't think I subtracted the one I used last round. *goes off to do that*

...possibly because I never put them there in the first place...(> :P )

I'm making a sidebar to keep it in, too.

@Captain Hesperus Bren is essentially asking Otiorin to take a 5-foot-step to the right, thereby placing Green in a flanking position. This will give Bren and Otiorin a +2 bonus to hit Green, as well as opening him up to Otiorin's sneak attack damage and other rogue goodies. It also gets Otiorin out of being flanked.

I don't have the brain to write what I need to write tonight, so I will sleep and try again in the morning before work. =)

@Captain Hesperus Oh, and as much as I wanted to hear Rin's battle theme, I get static and this message from YouTube when I click on the video: "This video contains content from PONYCANYON. It is not available in your country. Sorry about that."

Do you have another video that might have the same music? The closest I found was this:

That's the one. :D

Yeah, I figure Otiorin's kinda on fire (figuratively speaking) at the moment, the anger and fear of seeing Bria hurt and then wounded in front of him, and to add insult to injury, that damned Bard's cursed thunderstones and the Wee Jas monks jibes have just kicked that up a notch. He wants to keep the monks attention on him so they don't notice that reinforcements are on the way. Also, he'd give his life to save Bria's.

Captain Hesperus

Re: Otiorin's feelings. That's what I was imagining Rin was feeling (the way you write him makes his feelings clear). These Monk/Mages of Wee Jas are just a pain in the butt, too, but I like Rin's strategy. =)

Re: Rin's feelings toward Bria. Of that, I have no doubt. Our dear Bria seems to have that effect on people! =)

Re: In-game post. O.K. I'm not going to finish this before I have to leave, but I've got a good chunk out of the way (and hopefully will have all of it finished and posted tonight). =)

The Monk/Mage Ambush on the Road of Kings continues! Please read the in-game post first!

Chapter%20Seven%20-%20Melshaefs%20Tree%20and%20the%20Crown%20of%20Chains%20Monk%20Mage%20Ambush%20Map%205.png

@Kaerri - Bren has taken 10 more hit points of damage from Monk/Mage Red's attack of opportunity (see the Shop Talk tab in the in-game post for details). Bren connected with his Knockdown attack! Pow! Please roll damage. I'll roll to see if Monk/Mage Green makes his saving throw and then they will act.

Vardadraug is down (appears unconscious). Bria has been stabbed and is down. The Dire Wolf of Dalsus remains disinterested in the melee, but appears very alert. Bren taken 10 hit points of damage from an attack of opportunity from Monk/Mage Red. Bren has nailed Monk/Mage Green with his Knockdown attack (awaiting results). Sparkle has arrived on the battlefield (no token); she has contacted Bren and is alerting Luna to the situation. Powerpaw has arrived and spent an Action Point (his 3rd overall) to bring his Initiative above that of the Monk/Mages. He has barely, but successfully, struck Monk/Mage Orange for max damage (27 points).

Before I can continue combat, I need to know if Monk/Mage Green has eaten the dirt (I wouldn't mind if he did). That requires Kaerri to roll damage from Bren's axe-stroke and saving throw on the part of the Wee Jas.

Combat initiative order (Round 3):

19 - Otiorin
(Wearing Ring of Mind Shielding. Ring of Force Shield active. Moonlit Edge in main hand.) Attacked but missed Monk/Mage Green.

18 - Powerpaw (Successfully used Charge attack option on Monk/Mage Orange. Attack +2/Armor Class -2 until his turn next round. Using Maul +2)

17 - Monk/Mages of Wee Jas (4) (Monk/Mage Red is lightly damaged. Monk/Mage Red and Blue have fired off attacks of opportunity on Bren. Monk/Mage Orange has just eaten 27 points of Moar from Powerpaw. Monk/Mage Green's state has yet to be determined).

12 - Brendoran (Wearing Wedding Ring. Battle Axe +2 in main hand, heavy metal masterwork shield in off-hand.)

A note to touch on here - Remember as players in Sharseya, you are welcome to toss ideas to each other as players to one another (even if your characters are in different scenes). =)

Added damage roll to OOC tab of earlier in-game post. 11! Not great, but not too bad.

...yeow, did Mobility just save me from a crit? I love that feat, I love that feat, I love that feat...

O.K. I'm rushing a little before work again here, but I think I got this right... As before, please read the in-game thread first! =)

18 - Powerpaw (Successfully used Charge attack option on Monk/Mage Orange. Attack +2/Armor Class -2 until his turn next round. Maul +2 has been destroyed. Powerpaw is bare-handed)

17 - Monk/Mages of Wee Jas (5) (Monk/Mage Red is lightly damaged. Monk/Mage Red and Blue have fired off attacks of opportunity on Bren. Monk/Mage Orange has just eaten 27 points of Moar from Powerpaw. Monk/Mage Green is damaged and just provoked an attack of opportunity from Bren and Rin both).

12 - Brendoran (Wearing Wedding Ring. Battle Axe +2 in main hand, heavy metal masterwork shield in off-hand.)

Little thoughts....

1. @Sherwood. Your tab in-game is about to join the Ambush tab.

2. Re: Monk/Mage Green. Isn't it satisfying and a little vindicating when a smack-talking bad guy just eats it like that? /cheer =)

3. Thanks to Bren's knockdown attack, Monk/Mage Green just provoked an attack of opportunity from both Otiorin and Bren. Roll here please. =)

4. Cap'n. Please give me a Reflex Saving Throw from Otiorin vs. Monk/Mage Orange's 32-point Lightning Bolt spell.

5. Otiorin takes 14 points of damage from Monk/Mage Blue's roundhouse kick.

Otiorin's Attack of Opportunity:

Typical...

Question: Bren and Otiorin were flanking at the time of opportunity attacks, yes? Does Rin's sneak attack damage (and bleeding, if I remember right) come into play on his?

[dice]16785[/dice]Gah. Well, at least you hit, Cap'n.

@Captain Hesperus - Dann says can you please roll a second attack roll to confirm the crit? (Meaning, you've hit, but a natural 20 on the die means you have a chance at a critical hit, which requires a second attack roll. If that one is successful, you gets MOAR damage!)

Does Luna need to make any kind of knowledge rolls to identify the bad guys that we're going up against?

Kaerri thoughts (read IC post first, please!):

--Alternatively, Otiorin could make a withdrawing action to leave melee, but that would still leave him open to one opportunity attack (from either Blue or Purple, depending on which way he went) and it would take up his whole turn. I don't recommend that given his current HP, but I thought I should mention it.

--Sorry for bunching up foes with friends, Luna! Bren doesn't see a way around it at the moment. However, there ought to be a diagonal of bad guys, if they don't move too far from where they are now. Maybe Luna has something that can take advantage of that and has the movement to position herself for it?

@Captain Hesperus O.K. Please roll another strike roll to see if Otiorin's natural 20 is a critical hit. Also, for the sake of time-saving, and in case it is a critical hit, please roll 2d6 (short sword damage) then another 1d6 (cold damage) and then yet another 2d6 (Sneak Attack) along with Otiorin's other damage bonuses. I will add the Bleeding Attack damage. If it turns out that the hit is not a critical, I will remove the second d6 from the short sword damage. Either way, yeeowch! Also, your rolls with this Dice Roller continue to boggle my mind...

@Sherwood Because Luna is a wizard, she needs no roll whatsoever (just a request from her player as you have just made)! Luna knows the following: The Monk/Mages of Wee Jas are a cult of that evil goddess of magic who, but 20 years ago, was a mortal human being. She, like her arch-enemy, Saint Cuthbert, rose to godhood (legends say on the very same day) where their conflict continues. The Monk/Mages of Wee Jas are also mortal enemies of the Ko monks. This is in part, some say, because the Wee Jas have been practicing their martial prowess for 20 years, but the Ko for much longer, and the Wee Jas are devilishly jealous for the Ko's secrets. The Monk/Mages are in every way cunning and devious and of Lawful Evil alignment (a very few are Lawful Neutral, but never Good). They excel in teamwork, secret-stealing, damage-dealing, and causing pain and lasting sorrow of every kind to their enemies, thus they are feared across the realms. Because of this, Wee Jas sometimes has dealings with Erythnul, the God of Slaughter. Boccob and Wee Jas hardly ever compete because the former simply cannot be bothered to take the time to hate (unlike the latter who really is the lesser of the two and she seems to know it). The Wee Jas seem to always cross-class monk with either the wizard or sorcerer class. Did you have any specific questions in mind, Sherwood?

@Captain Hesperus Oh, I forgot to mention - it is now Otiorin's turn. Please consider Bren to be in the square southeast of Bren's current position. =)
