Other things I thought of that I wanted to share with my fellow players:

The action point pools get refreshed when we train for a new level, which we're bound to do soon (especially if we all make it through this scene!). Thus, any points remaining in the pool at that time will be essentially wasted. Something to think about, in this challenging situation we find ourselves in!

On another note...what the face?? This dire wolf is speaking Common!

@Dannigan glad to see you're able to hold your own after all my tutorial videos :) As for the image quality - if I had to guess, I'd say you didn't specify quality at all when you exported the .jpg and it was probably set on something less than desirable. Remember to take the path of File -> Image Preview and set the format (JPEG) and quality there. I recommend 90 because there is a very small visual difference between 90 and 100 for the human eye but it does reduce the file size. If you're dealing with small images then it doesn't matter but otherwise it could be a big difference, so I usually go with 85-90 for everything except small images that can be put to 100 if you really want (though it isn't really noticeable). You can leave the other options ticked and make sure smoothing isn't engaged (unless you want it, which you probably never will).

That should do it. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll troubleshoot *woof*

@Wolf Rawrrr My quality problem is with Select Inverse (Ctrl + Shift + I). In my previous token-making, using this selection does exactly as it says in your video (selects the token only), so when I hit Delete, I just have the token. The problem is (with the Warg) that using Select Inverse selects both the token area I've highlighted and the surrounding picture (regardless of how I try to get around it). I don't understand why, as the picture I was using worked well-enough before (had to retry it due to a centering problem I learned how to fix on Paint).

How do you get Select Inverse to select only the highlighted picture, please?

Again, each square is 5 x 5 feet. =)

Battle-map notes: Please note the colored dots in the upper-right hand corner. That's how I'll be referring to each of the Monk/Mages to tell them apart. I'll type things like "Monk/Mage (red)" or "Monk/Mage (blue), etc.). Does that sound all right? =)

Situation: Vardadraug is down (appears unconscious). Bria is wounded and held hostage by the Monk/Mages of Wee Jas. The Dire Wolf of Dalsus is present but appears disinterested in this particular battle. Bren has shouted for reinforcements. Luna and Sparkle have heard and are on their way, but are some distance away.

EDIT: I have updated post #86 in Chapter Seven to reflect the combat of round 1 (including Bren's attack).

Combat initiative order (Round 2):

19 - Otiorin (Wearing Ring of Mind Shielding. Moonlit Edge in main hand, Thunderstone in off-hand)

17 - Monk/Mages of Wee Jas (4) (Monk/Mage Red is lightly damaged. All three just cast some spell upon themselves. Monk/Mage Orange is with wounded Bria with a knife at her back)

12 - Brendoran (Wearing Wedding Ring. Battle Axe +2 in main hand, heavy metal masterwork shield in off-hand)

@Captain Hesperus Otiorin's go again!

If you are talking about the white corners around the warg image, you can remove them with the Magic Wand tool (W) which is just under the selection tools in Bitmap category. Set the tolerance to a low value such as 5 or 10 and then click and delete each corner *woof*

Thanks, Wolf! =)

And Sherwood, grats on becoming a Forum Moderator! =)

@Captain Hesperus Hey, Cap'n? I think it's still Otiorin's turn. If Real Life is keeping you too busy to post, maybe we can work something out to keep the story going? Either way, hope things are going good with you and Mrs. Hes! =)

Oops sorry, I've gotten behind on all my posts. Though I'm not quite sure what I should be rolling for my actions.

Captain Hesperus

Depends on where you are and how you choose to work it. First important question is, which one was he initially rushing towards? If he was heading straight down on the map, it would be either blue or green. If he stopped just in front of them, he'd be flanking blue with Bren. (That's why Bren moved around to the back of that group - though he'd suggested they go for Red, first, that being the farthest one from the dire wolf.)

If Otiorin is trying to jump over the monk, I think that's technically moving through the monk's square still, and Otiorin can try an Acrobatics check. I don't really suggest that at this point, because there are other ways of getting past them (between them, around them) if that's what he wants to do.

At this point in the battle, everyone's had a turn, so no one will be flat-footed. Pathfinder doesn't really differentiate defences based on facing, so there's no real game advantage to being behind someone if you're the only one on them. What does help is flanking - you get a +2 to attack someone when you and an ally are on opposite sides of them. Flanking someone also opens them up to a rogue's sneak attack, which means extra damage if the rogue hits.

Short version:

--If Otiorin wants to deal out some damage to the front line of monks, he's got a chance of higher damage if he flanks either Red or Blue with Bren, which he can easily do. Red has already been hit for minor damage.

--If he instead wants to get past them all and run at the one threatening Bria, he can get there without provoking opportunity attacks by running between them and the dire wolf, that's (if I counted right) 75 feet, which is just within a double-move, but he won't be able to attack when he gets there.

--Or he can run straight there, provoking opportunity attacks from Blue and Green (I don't recommend this!), but that's still 65 feet and he still won't be able to attack this round unless he Charges, which will drop his AC by 2 from the start of the move (I really don't recommend that).

I guess I'd do the flanking thing, but Otiorin has feelings for Bria, even if he's not able to express them to her. He doesn't want to jeopardise her life, even at the risk of his own. So I think option two will be his action.

Captain Hesperus

Thanks for the quick post, Cap'n!

NEWS: Heya folks! Killfire is out indefinitely (hospital related). He'll be all right, but prayers never hurt if you get my meaning.

Also, Kaerri and I are on a weekend outing together. I'm bringing my Chromebook along (which will probably allow me to do everything except update the battle map) so I'll post as opportunity allows. Take care of yourselves (and your loved ones) and have a good weekend! =)

Heya folks!

Very recently, there was a conversation prune here in RpN. Suddenly, the conversation that started our delightful game became swallowed up with the rest of the conversations that were over 200 days old. They are gone. When Dark Wizard says he had no option to give anyone notice, I believe him. When others in the staff say he feels bad and hopes it never happens again, I give them all benefit of the doubt. This conversation about starting Sharseya was dear to me and I did not know it could be deleted. I had no idea prunes existed or took place, so this surprised me a great deal. I am still getting over it. That conversation was the very beginning of not only our game, but our camaraderie as a roleplaying team. It also symbolized a great gathering of old friends (Killfire, Sherwood, myself) who had not gamed together in many, many years. From time to time, I enjoyed rereading it. I wish I would have thought to record it.

That is all I mean to say about it. I place no blame. These things happen. Still, I value such precious and irreplaceable times, and above all, I am glad that our beginning in that conversation happened at all. These pages, our togetherness, our time here in Sharseya online have brought me tremendous joy! =)

In other news, I am involved in 4 roleplays and tonight, I have responded to 3 of them. That said, I hope to post here tomorrow evening (my time). Since the party is in three different locations at the moment, there is three times the writing. The writing, however long or short, is still very wonderful. So yes. Barring interventions by Real Life, I will be posting in-game tomorrow night.

Have "moar" fun until then everyone! =)

Hey folks! Real Life intervened last night, but it was worth it. Incoming wall o' text! =) Please read in-character post first!

EDIT: I ran out of time this afternoon. I'll come back to this after work tonight and finish the in-character posts and rolls.

Vardadraug is down (appears unconscious). Bria has been stabbed and is down. The Dire Wolf of Dalsus remains disinterested in the melee, but appears very alert. Bren has sliced his target for minor damage. Luna and Sparkle are on their way, but are some distance away.

Combat initiative order (Round 2):

19 - Otiorin
(Wearing Ring of Mind Shielding. Ring of Force Shield active. Moonlit Edge in main hand.)

17 - Monk/Mages of Wee Jas (4) (Monk/Mage Red is lightly damaged. Monk/Mage Red and Blue are flanking Bren and attacking viciously. Monk/Mage Orange has moved southeast one square which allows Monk/Mage Green up north to come in using a Charge attack with a flanking bonus against Otiorin).

12 - Brendoran (Wearing Wedding Ring. Battle Axe +2 in main hand, heavy metal masterwork shield in off-hand)

A note to touch on here - Remember as players in Sharseya, you are welcome to toss ideas to each other as players to one another (even if your characters are in different scenes). This is one thing Kaerri does a lot that I just love; when she sees an avenue to help her fellow player, she jumps on it. Thanks, Kaerri-darlin'! You don't have to have her kind of Sharseyan experience to chip in ideas of your own; just dive in if you think your fellow player might benefit. =)

@Captain Hesperus sez

Taking a double move to avoid contact with the front line of monks to get into melee range of OrangeMonk. I take it a double move prevents him activating his Shield Ring?

It does not, thankfully. The Ring of Force Shield can be activated and deactivated at will as a free action (Pathfinder Core Book, pg 481). Given the circumstances, let's say that Otiorin has that ring activated, shall we? =)

Also, be advised that even though Otiorin is now in a flanking position with Monk/Mage (Orange), Bria is not threatening that space (or in other words, she is in no position to get and keep some of your opponent's attention). Therefore, at this time, Otiorin does not receive the bonus to flanking.

Finally, I love that new avatar picture of the Eiffel Tower you have up. France... is in my prayers after what happened. =)

@Wolf Rawrrr

@Sherwood[/URL] It should take Luna about 2 more combat rounds to reach the edge of the battle. She is moving at half maximum speed due to the terrain and the rain, but she is still wearing her incredibly-useful Boots of Striding and Springing (which means she's moving 25% faster than she would without them). Sparkle, given her size and ability to fly, is moving unimpaired except for the rain from the oncoming thunderstorm. She is trying to avoid flying into branches, shrubs, or tree trunks. =)

Good to know. I've been getting twitchy to get to the fight and help.

Hooray! I'm home and I get to edit the in-game post I wrote (for grammar) and write the rest. Life is good! =)

Hey folks! I've finished editing and writing up everything. This latest in-game post has been updated with the Monk/Mages turn. I probably should have waited to edit and post, but I didn't want Real Life to intervene again. =)

Round 2 - Monk/Mage Ambush on the Road of Kings

@Kaerri Bren takes 23 points of damage. It is now Bren's go.

@Captain Hesperus Otiorin's charging opponent (Monk/Mage Green) missed. Maybe the dice don't like him either? After Kaerri posts, feel free to post for Round 3. =) Also, on Otiorin's character sheet, it shows him as a 2nd level Sorcerer, but I recall you taking him to level 3, yes?

@Sherwood It is the bottom of Round 2. Luna and Sparkle will arrive some time during Round 4. Go ahead and roll Initiative here to find out when.

Initiative roll for Luna

Oy! The low roll demon has struck once again!

That's one disgusting Initiative roll... That's it! The Dice Roller Must Die! Wait... Die... Dice...

Hold on; I'll use one of my Action Points to add a d6 if that's ok

[dice]16471[/dice]

That will give me a total of a six (BU).
