At the Adventurers' Table

Captain Hesperus sez,

"Can't we have even one plan go off without a hitch?"
Bria (in my mind) saw this and immediately beamed in reply, "We had a really nice minotaur ambush once!"

Please read the in-character thread first. =)

Fortitude saving throws are required for: Luna, Bria, Bren, Wolf, Otiorin.

A second saving throw (Reflex) is required for Otiorin.

Good luck.

Luna's Fortitude Save: About as good as I can get, I even remembered to take the +1 from my Cloak of Resistance off. This assumes that Bria's armor does not add to my Saving Throw at all.

[dice]6451[/dice]

A logical assumption. Good roll, Sherwood! =)

Fortitude saving throw +9.

She wants to spend an Action point.

She also wants to thank the party for allowing her the Mielikkian Amulet (+2 to all saves).

[dice]6457[/dice]

[dice]6459[/dice]

And I will pause here until folks are able to make their rolls. Bria has yet to go and that will happen once we know how the rest of the Wanderers fare. =)

Otiorin's Fort save (spending an AP), followed by a Ref save.

Also please note, I'm back on the move so posts may be delayed.

EDIT TO ADD: cancel that AP expenditure, unless I can't.

@Captain Hesperus You can, Cap'n (since you don't know the results). The best way to spend an Action Point is to roll your d20 first and see what you get, then decide. In Powerpaw and Bria's cases, they honestly didn't mind calling the Action Point first. They know that if they roll a natural 20 or a 1, the point won't be spent, but they were willing to make use of the point on any result in between.

Darned good rolls, folks! Of course, here's hoping I didn't just gank Kaerri's dice for Bren *crosses fingers.* =)

Fort save:

[dice]6473[/dice]

Gah. Yay, fighter Fort save bonus!

Yup. I ganked 'em... Sorry, Kaerri-Darlin'. =)

(BIG THANKS TO WOLF! Kaerri helped too! Wooo!)

To be more specific, after casting, Luna is moving off the wagon to the right away from the approaching bad guys and keep under some cover of the body of the wagon.

Good thinking, Sherwood. If you can't have Armor Class, have cover. =) Just how far is she moving (5 foot squares)? And I take it she's moving east (remember, the Adventurers' Wagon is traveling north)?

Oh, and possibly the best thing about Haste in Pathfinder? With all of those wonderful benefits, it doesn't age your character a year as it did in 1st Edition AD&D. =)

From Luna's current position, I'll have her move two squares east and hug the side of the wagon, using it to block line of sight to as many of the bad guys as possible for the moment. I think that my next spell should be Flame Arrow on Wolf's bow, giving him an additional 1d6 fire damage to his attacks. Thoughts?

You think Powerpaw is badass now? Just wait for me to cast a Enlarge Person on him!

That is one scary f*cking thought, Sherwood...

...but as your Storyteller, I have no argument against it. It's fair. =)

There. *Now* the post is done. Now for this thread. =)

Combat initiative order:

20 - The Painless
(Painless 2 through 4, including Gerran, and his battle mage).

15 - Bria (Hasted. Ring of Force Shield active. Wearing Amulet of Mielikki. In fighting stance. Unarmed and prone. Just cast Cure Critical Wounds on Powerpaw's mother).

14 - Luna (Hasted. Sparkle status: Asleep inside the Adventurers' Wagon. Luna is wearing Bria's Glamered armor, and Luna's Ring of Protection +1 and Ring of Deflection +2. Unarmed).

12 - Powerpaw (Hasted. Using Maul +2 and has lost his marbles until further notice).

11 - Otiorin (Hasted. Using Moonlit Edge +2).

10 - 9/10 Ogres (armed with greatclubs).

9 - Bren (Hasted. Using Battle axe +2 and heavy metal shield).

1 - Wolf (Hasted. Using Longbow +2. Pecker status: Asleep inside the Adventurers' Wagon).

Sherwood sez,

Casting Haste on the party, giving everyone +1 to your Armor Class, +1 to your Reflex Saves, +30" to your ground movement, and most importantly, +1 full attack with all your bonuses. This lasts for the next 7 rounds.
(bold mine)

To be specific, when making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situations. Also, a hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls as well as what Sherwood mentioned (which turned one of Powerpaw's rolls from a miss into a hit, therefore allowing Powerpaw to continue with his Cleave feat - Go Sherwood!).

Like I said, the urge to throw a Fireball was strong, but I knew that this Haste spell would do more damage in the long run by helping the whole party kick butt. Depending on where the ogres are once they act, I may use my next spell to give Wolf some Fire Arrows. Rain fiery death upon those that would try to harm mamapaw!

I bet it was a tough choice given the position the ogres are currently in. It would have been for me too if I were in Luna's bare feet, er, shoes, er, magical boots! =)

As for Mamapaw, I can't help but feel for her. What a horrible situation to be in.

It is worth mentioning that your characters (each of you) control more in Sharseya than they might know. Say for example Otiorin chose not to give a damn when the Wanderers and Painless met just now. With that tarp over the wooden cage, there would be no way for Powerpaw to see his mom in there. Let's say your two teams didn't deal. The Painless would have kept on going with none of the Wanderers the wiser and no rescue for Powerpaw's mom (don't get captured by these people - just don't). And I would have went with it because it would be right (not fair to Mamapaw, but true to the spirit of our game here).

I guess what I mean to say is this: I am glad each of you and your characters care. I can't throw situations like this to selfish players with selfish or evil characters who care only about gold or their next level, their fame, the next powerful magic item, or what-have-you. I work best with good-aligned characters and great-aligned players playing them.

Thanks for being great players with good hearts, everyone. Good night. =)

The real shame here is that I can't press the 'like' button more than once. Thanks for the complement, but you can't leave all the credit in our hands. You are a great Storyteller, one that I am pleased to call my friend even after all these years that have gone by.

And Sherwood opens up a moment of sillyness... (Turns into his famous rabbit mode, with fluffy pillow, and sneaks up on Sherwood and says.) "The rabbit's are out there... and they have fluffy pillows... soon... yes very soon... something fluffy will happen..."

And then... (WHAPT!) Fluffy Pillow Sneaky Fluffy Whapt!

Dannigan said:
The sextet of ogres come on, roaring and stomping, waving their greatclubs and eager to plant them into anything that looks like it might scream. As they charge the Adventurers' Wagon, one of those huge, heavy feet steps on that little thunderstone...
If that works, I'm totally calling that as a 'played-for' event.

Captain Hesperus

I want to know where Luna can find some mystical critters to give her a +3 to any one attribute! That's damn good!

Well, the thunderstone didn't go off. It's lying there on a highway under the feet of violent, charging, stomping ogres... What's a storyteller to do? =)

It looks like Luna might just be able to get her Fireball fix in anyways. Since she moves before the ogres do, there is a lovely bunch all together that I can aim a area of effect blast into and still be able to miss our people. Oh, decisions, decisions!

A couple of questions, if I may:

Did anyone take the Giant-Slayer's sword?

Did Bren not have an interest in it?

Are Ogres related to Giants?

Captain Hesperus

1. Yes. Powerpaw has it on his hip as no one else showed an interest in it (his intent was to keep it active in the party and not sitting in some treasure chest where it would be useless. Once he is in his right mind, he'll likely be happy to hand it to any of the Wanderers - once he is in his right mind and happy again...).

2. I can't speak for Kaerri, but here's my guess: Bren was not going to ask for treasure he did not earn. Treasure he did earn, however, is a different story.

3. Yes. Ogres are the smallest of the Giant family (a fact the rest of giant-kind often reminds them of).

Hey! You said a "couple of questions"! That's three! You tryin' ta rock the boat here?! What are you playin', a rogue or somethin'? =)

Any other questions? =)
