At the Adventurers' Table

So, yes. One of my many rolls throughout this game came tonight, and the dice selected Kitrin as the subject for that scene. Enjoy, Kaerri! =)

Expect little to no posts from me until this weekend. Wolf's part of yet another foreign delegation's escort (this time an Arabian prince, no less), duty ending on Friday. Really not something that leaves you much any free time :/ *bark*

No worries, thanks for the update, and hope everything goes well, Wolf. =)

Heya, folks! I wanted to type this out earlier, but Real Life got in the way. Imagine that. =)

There is a House Rule we have been using when Real Life whisks a player away, and I feel comfortable using it here. We call it, Temporal Stasis.

House Rule: Temporal Stasis ("T.S."). When a player is unable to attend, that person's character, along with any other creatures with that character (familiar, animal companion, mount, etc.), and all items personally belonging to that character are taken out of play. The character is therefore not able to be harmed. When the player is able to return, the character also returns in the same condition they were in prior to the departure. Your storyteller will adjust the CR (Challenge Rating; the level of monsters and treasure) accordingly. For purposes of this online game, characters will not cease to gain RP points.

In other words, Wolf and Pecker are not accessible at this time (and therefore are missing out on the pool fun). Say the Grey Wardens have an encounter prior to Wolf Rawrrr's return, then Wolf and Pecker will likely not gain any goodies found (unless you save something for him), but nor are they subject to getting killed while Wolf Rawrrr is away. =)

Also, since Killfire has not yet posted as Bronze, his character is also considered to be in "T.S.".

One more thing: I have no problem with other players proxying (playing) an "away" player's character, but this only happens when both players provide me permission.

Oh. And a little backstory on this rule involving a Vorpal Sword (that's a type of weapon that decapitates if you roll high enough on the die). =) When I first heard of D&D, it was through a player who was bummed about his last adventure. See, he proxied another player's very successful Dwarven character. This character, one the original player had been playing for years, had his own pegasus, his own long list of battlefield wins, and so forth. His weapon-of-all-weapons, a fabled Vorpal Sword!

Which the player I knew had
just broken on that last adventure when he was playing the other guy's Dwarf.

The player I knew was sad about it, not just because he had rolled poorly and made a wrong decision or two, but because he had lost something precious to his Real Life buddy. And when the Real Life buddy had come back to the weekend game to play, he was furious. It had taken a long time to get that special sword. Adventures just to find the thing were long in the telling. And now it was gone forever.

In all the years I have gamed, I have never had this happen. And I am glad for that. Not to me or to any of the players in my games. And, good Lord as my witness, I sure hope it never happens to you guys. It's a lousy feeling (just ask either player).

And that's why I like to use "T.S.". I don't like playing your characters (I don't know them as well as you and I don't want them dying "on my watch"), and I sure as heck don't ever want you to come back from a Real Life intrusion into the game to find out your own "Vorpal Sword" is no more by someone else's hands. Bad enough if you happen to lose it by your own hands (ask Kaerri or myself sometime about "The Perilous", if you like).

Of course, if you guys want to handle this sort of thing in a different fashion, by all means, let me know. =)

EDIT: I edited this post about three times in as many minutes after having posted it. Hyperactivity for the win! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

I had a favorite character almost die once while being played by someone else. If I remember correctly, that was the week we lost about half the party, though (my character did actually die, it just happened after I got home and took over). Dracoliches for the loss. :P

Heya folks! Hope the dice are good to you. Why? Because it's time to roll a Fortitude saving throw for each of your characters (specifically, a save vs. poison). Good luck! =)

Fortitude save for Luna...

[dice]455[/dice]

Not going to get much better for me than that. Hopefully I made my save.

Kitrin's fort save:

[dice]456[/dice]

blargh. I'm'a' go back to Lego Marvel Superheroes now...back when I wake up!

That's messed up! The Wizard rolls high against the Fortitude save, and the Fighter rolls rock-bottom! Ha ha!

Good luck on the roll, Cap!

And Sparkle's saving throw.

[dice]457[/dice]

Sparkle sez, "I have a poison sting-tail. I demand to be immune to poison!"

Storyteller sez, "Request denied, little lady. Sorry. Of course, if you find some way to make that happen in-game..." =)

Sparkle sez, "Wait, wait! Don't I get a Signature Ability? I am choosing mine now. Immunity to poison. There!"

Storyteller sez, "At least your familiar's player rolled nice and high..."

Sparkle sez, "Hmph."

Does that mean that the weak little spellcaster is the only one to make the saving throw?

Seriously, did I make it? What happens to Luna?

Hah! @Sherwood You've good timing, old buddy. =) While you were typing that, I was typing on "The Road of Kings". What will Luna do?

Ask and I shall receive. I'll post Luna coming to the rescue.

@Sherwood For the sake of clarity, yes. Luna made the save. But she will have to make another if her situation remains the same. =)

I am hoping that the sleep poison is airborne, and out in the hall it is fresh air. If not, I may be dropping off sooner or later.

@Sherwood Luna can either arm herself or pull Kitrin and Sparkle out of the room. If she tries to do both, then there is another Fortitude saving throw for her to make. What is Luna's decision?

And with Luna's 7 in Strength, I am glad Kitrin isn't in full armor right now. =)

Eh, she's tiny. I can drag her.

Re: Protection from Energy. My copy of Pathfinder's Core Book (p 327) says that Protection from Energy is just that (energy, not poison). It protects against acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. Given Luna's ranks in Spellcraft, I am comfortable saying that she would definitely know this and not waste it.
