At the Adventurers' Table

Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't realize I was startling anybody. I was pretty surprised to see that it was you in my Alert just now. I didn't think to check if anyone else was on. =)

The cart was a "I'm moving to this new place because it's time to, too many people are wondering about me." being "magical" I do things other smiths can't do, and words of "witchcraft" was coming around. So I packed up some stuff in the Baggie (The stuff I can't leave without, have to have, can't leave behind ect) and the cart is loaded with stuff. The cart can be abandoned at any time. I got enough stuff in the large baggie to start again. As for meeting the rest, of der group, how about they show up either saving the caravan from a bandit group, or they got beat up and need stuff repaired? (PC Note: Character tries to hide his talents because people call it witchcraft not knowing it's just being magical, and knowing herbs and medicine)

Dannigan, you might have missed it but I have referred to Pecker as "him" once or twice already in-character. Also, the picture of him that I added a while back in my character sheet shows him to be a brown falcon :smiled:

I wasn't sure before, but now that you've added him as an NPC, I take it I have absolutely no control over Pecker?:(

@Killfire. Re: Cart. That works for me. I take it you have a riding horse to pull that cart, then? And let's say that your cart has the following items ready for sale in it:

One extra week of rations and water (on top of what Bronze has received from his starting gear,

7 horseshoes (horse-sized),

8 horseshoes (pony-sized),

4 sets of fine silverware (in as many designs),

5 iron plates (adventuring Dwarves often like to eat from iron plates and iron bowls. Your iron bowls sold out fast),

6 sharp daggers,

2 hand axes,

2 battle axes,

2 small buckets of nails (each holding 100 nails of differing sizes),

a set of a half-dozen spare tongs of differing sizes (your main set is in your Bag of Holding),

12 pounds of ready-to-forge iron ore,

6 pounds of ready-to-forge silver ore,

5 pounds of ready-to-forge copper ore,

12 iron ingots,

6 steel ingots,

24 pounds of coal.

And don't worry about encumbrance. Your horse can pull this sturdy two-wheeled wagon and this load.

Re: Meeting. Folks in Highwind tend not to have such prejudices against "witchcraft" for they can understand divine magic as it comes from trusted sources (their "churches"); if anything, it's arcane magic they often don't understand. The same cannot be said of Summerset, though, where arcane and divine magic is more or less treated with equal respect. Instead of Bronze being accused of "witchcraft", though, other blacksmiths in Summerset might have become angry and jealous at Bronze's abilities and accused him of all sorts of lies to hurt his sales.

We can say (if you like) that these jealous jerks are the reason Bronze is on the Road of Kings? In which case you can meet and join the party very soon if you like. What would you like?

@Wolf Rawrrr Re: Pecker. Yes, I clearly missed your references to Pecker being male. Whoops! Pecker's a "fella". That works. =) Ah! And Pecker is under Inventory - no wonder I missed it! I've been too busy getting to know your characters' background, skills, spells, etc.

Re: RPing Pecker.
I am a little lost (nothing new there! Ha ha! =) ). When you mean "control", do you mean to say that you wanted to RP both Wolf and Pecker?

If this is so... in our Conversation, it was my intent (and still is) to make this Pathfinder game as easy to play for you (and Killfire) as I can. In general, I don't know how Freeform RP works (as it seems to differ from storyteller to storyteller). In my games (which are purely dice games), usually the player has his own hands full-enough with his character. As your storyteller, I typically play every other creature your party runs into from dog to deity and beyond; it's just part of the game, more a joy than any kind of "burden". This hyperactive mind of mine is quite used to it (ask Kaerri, for example, how many NPCs there are in Sharseya - that's a smile-inducing conversation).

However, if you want to RP both Wolf and Pecker... I can do that if you really want to. It will just extra time and text on my part as I share Sharseya to you through Pecker's eyes. Plus (and though I know you know this, I still have to bring it up here) Pecker only has animal-level intelligence. I don't know if he will be that much fun for you to RP (he is a hunting falcon, no more, no less - he will most likely only do things a normal well-trained hunting falcon would do). It's almost like someone asking to roleplay their mount. Ummm, if you really want to and it brings you joy? =)

However (again), if I have misunderstood your meaning, and by "control" you mean that Pecker doesn't answer to anyone, then no - that's not at all what I have in mind. In fact, the only person Pecker listens to is Wolf (he won't even obey to the older and wiser pseudo-dragon in your party unless Wolf is). None of this, "your party's new Barbarian orders Pecker to bite that troll's eyes out! And off he goes!" Don't worry about that. =) Wolf commands Pecker and no one else (unless Pecker gets charmed by a spell or something). Hence your tricks. In my mind, Wolf is the only one Pecker trusts at this stage, and he is not likely to trust anyone else (party or otherwise) too deeply without Wolf having first displayed some affection or similar emotion towards the person in question first.

Re: Wolf's upcoming Animal Companion. The same goes for this creature, too. I am used to RPing everything that isn't a Player Character, so I have been in the process of creating this creature and its story (hopefully to your liking).

How do you feel about that, Wolfie (and do you have nicknames you like to be called)? =)

@Wolf Rawrrr In that last post where Pecker responds to Wolf's call, I am deliberately not providing what Pecker is saying to Wolf. I think you want me to RP Pecker, but I'm not certain (again Freeform style and dice-styles being different creatures), and I want to know that before any "words" come out of Pecker's mouth here. You know. Because I want you to have fun and all that. Hee hee. =)

ooookay that works, jealous, totally unfluffy competitors making lies works. Ok we're riding, we're riding, we're riding...

And suddenly, he is there, latched onto Wolf in more ways than one.
The fabulous-looking falcon chirps a few times, but to a Ranger like Wolf, the chirping seems to have deeper meaning than what most civilized ears hear.

You don't have to keep deepening the rift between Freeform and Dice, Dannigan. It's not that different, Dice is just more complicated, is all. Freeform means several writers collaborating on a book together, but everyone can only play their own characters except one who play everything else.

As for multiple characters it's the same in any system or non-system. The Storyteller defines whether or not NPCs have shared control. To talk directly about Pecker here, I wasn't actually thinking of him like an NPC and was initially thinking I'd get to roleplay him as well. I understand he's just an animal, and that doesn't matter. It would be in the same way you'd do it.

But to wrap this up, I want you to RP him then. It will actually make things more interesting for me since I won't know in advance what's going to happen, it is realistic that I can't literally control him, and I am overall very satisfied with how you are roleplaying Sparkle and this game altogether. I've absolutely no objections to not controlling Pecker given all that *bark*

Sorry. I really don't mean to deepen anything (I like to create bridges, not rifts); I only mean to state my ignorance in hopes of enlightenment on the subject. And speaking of enlightenment, thank you for that definition! Wow. I never thought of Freeform as a book. And a book of many, yet of few. That's a neat concept!

Re: Pecker. O.K.! And thanks for your feedback - it means a lot. =) Oh. And now that I know how you feel, I can update Pecker's character and the scene we're all in. And I love the smiley faces you add; they help to tell me how you're feeling (which also means a lot to me). =)

Somehow I stopped getting alerts for this and missed a few pages, so I'm posting to keep alerts up. :D

Also, Killfire, this is a "high-fantasy" setting - accusations of "witchcraft" aren't really the norm. There's plenty of herbalists and herbalist-healers around (that's what the Heal skill is for) and all of them that I know of are perfectly respectable, acceptable people. Like Dannigan explained, it's the actual mages that get funny looks, and then only because people don't understand them, not because there's a prejudice against magic.

All. Your party has a few moments before the meeting if you want to pass along anything to each other.

I for one adore Pecker's updated sheet. The sample chit chat between him and Sparkle made me laugh. So far you've proven adept at making Wolf laugh, you know Dan? Genuine laughter. Not something alot of people can brag about

I'm gonna enjoy this game so *bark*

Ha ha ha! That makes me happy, Wolf. =) I love the sign! =)

And I'm glad, Wolfie. I like making people laugh. =)

All. Congratulations, folks! You have Bria of the Ko in your party! =)

You will find a few details about Bria (pronounced "BREE-ah") here. Good going!

@Dannigan The excerpt of music you played just happened to coincide with my finishing the last line of your post. Extraordinary. :D

Captain Hesperus

Really? Wow, that's amazing. I love role-playing. Have I mentioned I love role-playing? Hee hee. =)

All. Time for Bronze to enter the scene! =)

All. Re: Bilal's question. I hope you are all feeling a little creative? The name you choose need not be a permanent one, but better a temporary name at a time like this then none at all... Feel free to chat about it here prior to speaking up in-game?

Dannigan said:
"So, this is your party," Bilal says with a tone of finality. "Fine, fine. What name do you all go by? You do have a name for your team, don't you? All professionals do." And something in each of you realizes that a man of Bilal's expensive tastes might not deal with amateurs...
I don't know about the lot of you, but Wolf ain't come all this way to be found wanting of professionalism! However I shall be fair and share with you instead of letting my character run amok, thus we shall be known as:

The Wayward Wolves
*howl*

ok so maybe not wolves but wayward is definitely our best description

You do realize that if we accept that name, you will be the de facto leader, and therefore, responsible for the misadventures of the team?

I'm horrible with party names. Wayward Wolves is well enough for me (and Kitrin doesn't mind either). I like the Wayward part too. Wayward Wanderers? Wayward Do-Gooders? This is why I shouldn't name us...

Well, I stepped into it with a name of the Grey Wardens. I hope that this doesn't come back to haunt me.

Oh well, I suppose it would be unprofessional if we suddenly offered different names in-character than what has been said, so for better or worse - there we have it! *bark*

Well and quickly done, folks! Grey Wardens it is. Again, if you want to change your team's name down the road, feel free. Until then, I will try to get another post up today. =)

I have this image of the gang sat around a table in a tavern, several tankards into the night...

Wolf: "I still think 'Wayward Wolves' is the best option. It's snappy, it's short and it has *bark*."

Luna: "No, no, no. 'Flames of Righteousness' is better. It's more dynamic and powerful. 'Wayward Wolves' sounds too 'wuh-wuh-wuh' to be taken seriously."

Kittrin: "I still quite like 'Warriors of Justice'."

Otiorin: "I don't understand it. Why don't any of you like 'The Fellowship of Otiorin'?"

Wolf, Luna and Kittrin (together): "NO!"

Captain Hesperus

Bria with a Speak with Animals spell cast upon her: "I don't know if everyone will like that name, Pecker."

Pecker: "Fish-finders, fish-finders, fish-findeeeeerrs! We find fish everywhere! Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!"

Bria: "Mister Bronze? Do you like fish? I was thinking of something pretty and thought-provoking like Wolf's suggestion. What about... *sigh* Wayward Star?"

Sparkle: *chirp* I am partial to the name "Twilight Rising," myself. Just as long as we are
not The Fellowship of Otiorin..."

Stewart is busy taking notes until Bilal the Rich butts in: "Oh, for crying out loud! Just
who in the hell are you people, already?!"
