That answers that! =)

@Captain Hesperus And what of Otiorin? How does he feel if Sparkle is with him? Would he rather go it alone or does he like the idea of help?

Once again, that answers that! Thanks, Cap'n and Sherwood. =)

(From a otherdimentional realm) Just stay in range of the Barrett... Wait wrong game... um Stay in range of the healer and tank?

That's always good advice. =)

@killfire Is there anything Bronze wanted to ask Travis's Trainers before they leave? The opportunity won't happen again soon.

I think this might be a good idea but I don't know how it would work, I'm probably overthinking again. I was wondering if Bronze could come up with some kind of trade deal with Travis Trader's. Something like, "lets meet here at such and such a date, and I'll give you some items to take with you to sell and we'll split the profits 50/50" That gives Bronze time to make some stuff and TT another product they can sell. And gives us a repeat visit with people of quality.

A good idea under the right circumstances, but they're "telling" me the circumstances aren't quite right. These retired folks aren't the type to be able to promise their end of the deal (they want to travel all over and not be held by obligations). Besides, they're really not in this for the coin (despite appearances). Still, any selling of items you have is still possible while they're here.

May I recommend instead that Bronze make what he can and sell it at Highwind? Any realm at war has need of resources and skills. Might I also recommend that Bronze go to work on the prison wagon? There is plenty of good steel waiting to be smelted down and forged into something anew. I also believe that if anyone can make that happen in this team, it's Bronze.

Concerning questions, I was more leaning to Schermitt's line of thinking during his shave. Bronze doesn't know a great deal about this cosmic ore, but this old fellow seems to. Just a thought.

And with that, I will write more tomorrow - my body is telling me it's bedtime. Sleep well, friends! =)

Once more unto the deeps, good friends, once more and clear it with our enemy's dead.

And hopefully not Otiorin's corpse....

Captain Hesperus

@Captain Hesperus I should hope not. =)

Cap'n. Could you please provide a 3d20 roll here (no modifiers)? There is something I would like to know before Otiorin acts, please.

@Sherwood Oh, team leader? Once your team is 50 feet into the caves, human vision alone becomes useless. Once 100 feet in, anyone with low light vision cannot see. Your team is now 100 feet into the cave with Otiorin and Sparkle are 100 feet ahead of your team.

How would you like to proceed?

Oops, Perhaps I should read the OOC before I post....

Anywho here's the roll. I'll edit my post accordingly.

How much control do we have over the light giving artifacts? Can we alter how bright they get?

To Sherwood Definitely. From candle-light (1 foot radius) to torch brightness (20 foot radius). Double these numbers for folks with low light vision.

To Cap'n: No worries! It's better to read IC prior to OOC. I wanted this information after you read the post.

Re: 3d20
. I am trying to be fair to Otiorin regarding what he might know about this monster. I don't see Knowledge: Monster Lore on Otiorin's character sheet, so that rules out study. But a 3d20 roll with those results tell me not to rule out Otioirin's own personal experience.

I am comfortable saying that while Otiorin has no formal knowledge of this creature, he has apparently (with that natural 20) run into one before! Probably not this one. He knows what they're called (Ettins), he knows they are giant-blooded (and hence open to weapons that work well against that heritage), he knows they have the ability to fight with two weapons without any penalty whatsoever (Feat: Improved Two Weapon Fighting), they are incredibly good guards when they're guarding (high perception scores from having two minds and two heads). They're dumb, but very cunning. Their use of the Common language also often leaves much to be desired. While this leaves out the details of how Otiorin learned these things, I am more-than-willing to say he knows them nonetheless. You are free to ask any other questions you like.

Are you O.K. with this, Cap'n?

Re: IC before OOC. I typically read IC before OOC then I post.

This suits me. I do believe he ran into one while he was travelling through the mountains. He managed to successfully Bluff it into setting watch over an empty cave on the promise that when Otiorin returned he would be bringing a herd of sheep for it to eat.

Captain Hesperus

If we try to sneak past it, any fighting we do in the next cavern will undoubtably wake it up and cause it to come running. We may have to eliminate it before moving on.

How large is the cavern with the Ettin in it? If I were to hit it with a Fireball, would there be enough room for us to be in the room without getting cooked ourselves?

Re: Sheep for the Ettin. Hah! That works just fine! =)

Re: Cavern. It's big like the second picture I posted (I try to find pictures that promote rough size along with atmosphere). You have plenty of room (including to take cover behind stalagmites and the like).

@Sherwood Precisely how is the party getting around in the dark?

I forgot to post that after asking you about the lights. I'm using my crossbow light in candle mode to provide just enough illumination to see by, but not bright enough to be immediately visible around the corners of the cave.

That works. So at this point, Luna has a candle-flame amount of light while Wolf has a few feet of light about him.

Re: Pecker. Yes, I meant to mention - Pecker isn't into underground spaces of any sort. He'll go into them, but only if Wolf is with him.

I don't know if there is any rules for this in the game, but you may want to ponder the effects of us sneaking up in the dark to face a creature using low- or no-light vision, then I hit the lights to full shine of a bulls eye lantern into the face (IN DA FAAAAAACCEEEE!) to dazzle the monster, even if for a moment. Possible?

Oooh! Me likie! But lets hold on them until we see what is in the next cavern.

In this case, I would grant the creature a Reflex save and if it failed, a penalty to strike for a few rounds. A sleeping creature would get a Perception check when approached (anyone might wake out of a sleep, depending on the circumstances but I would allow a steep DC depending on the actions happening around it, or none at all). Failure would mean surprise (and in this case, starting the fight prone and flat-footed). =)

All Otiorin would need is sixty feet of piano wire and he'd be a Giant assassin...

Captain Hesperus

Hah! That'd be one heck of a coup de grace! In related news, ask Kaerri sometime about the time she one-shotted a Hill Giant - on her rogue. =)

Killfire, Bronze will likely find Kitrin inside the wagon, nomming and chatting with her fellow hobbits.
