Wolf Rawrrr, Christopher Tolkien (the Professor's son) would definitely agree.

@All If Real Life allows (which it should), I should have some posts up tomorrow. =)

For those who have not yet read the latest post in Chapter 3, here are scenario spoilers for you after you have done so. Enjoy! =)

Wolf knows that Luna and Bria are, perhaps, a minute behind him in their enchanted footwear. There are plenty of places to hide around this big stone. Even Powerpaw could take cover here.

Luna and Bria know that without their enchanted footwear, they would be flat against the ground, huffing and puffing back at the bottom of the hilltop most likely. Bria seems to have the better idea of where Wolf went (given her Perception roll). They have no idea (yet) what Wolf is facing (or that he has even stopped). Luna's Mage Armor is active.

Powerpaw and Kitrin are behind Luna and Bria by a short distance (say, 12 seconds or 2 combat rounds if it comes to that). These two are following the trails Luna and Bria have made with little trouble.

Otiorin's freshly-made pancake tastes delightful and something made of wood, or rather, many somethings, clack and clatter along in the bundle. He can easily follow the trail Powerpaw and Kitrin have made.

Bronze realizes the stone tastes awfully bland. We will get into more detail when you describe what exactly Bronze does with the ore (which, by the way, you are welcome to roll a metal-related Craft skill of your choice to see what he learns).

Questions?

I'm ready to post for Luna, I'm just waiting for word on when I can jump in.

O.K. I will let you know, Sherwood (and everyone else besides Killfire who can pretty much post as he pleases). Of course, if your character is just thinking or sorting out feelings during the run, then by all means post away. =)

Thank you. Also before I forget (again): Thank you for using spoilers in the OOC when referring to ingame matters. When I see both the story and OOC updated, I have a tendency to read the OOC first so it would contain spoilers if you were not to disguise them. It is very considerate of you *woof*

I should what when ready? ( :o )

Let fly, as in let arrows fly through the air - I think he's looking for dice rolls, specifically. :)

Oh! The dice rolls! (' :| )

Accustomed as I am to freeform, combined with the fact that battle was not officially proclaimed yet and no initiative was rolled, I completely forgot about rolling ( :P ) *woof* (as a matter of fact I already completely forgot the rules of combat in Pathfinder; we should fight more often)

Edited it into my story post.

@Wolf Rawrrr Re: Firing Wolf's longbow. That's fine. =) While you performed the strike roll correctly, the damage roll is different (d8, not d20, damage from Wolf's medium-sized longbow). I hope you don't mind if I roll a d8 here at my computer so I can post sooner rather than later? Also, re: OOC spoilers. You're welcome! I'd hate for anyone to read this area first and learn a spoiler (I detest spoilers on most occasions, and always in cases like these).

@All Re: Monster Lore. Also, if folks like, you are welcome to roll Monster Lore (or Knowledge: Nature for Monstrous Humanoids) if you have it. Success will grant useful combat-related information on these Bloodland Minotaurs.

@killfire I take it Bronze is attempting to identify the ore. Did you want to make a Craft roll?

@Captain Hesperus Otiorin can follow Powerpaw's trail as easily as a elf can follow a tune or tale. After Luna and Bria act, Kitrin and Powerpaw will discover the scene and act, then Otiorin will arrive and act (if things go as they seem).

I took the liberty of having Luna cast a couple of spells before stepping out. The Mirror Image one is what I rolled the d4 for, and I have a total of 6 copies of me to distract the bad guys.

Them minotaurs are talkin' serious smack to call Luna a bitch. I reckon that there be some trouble brewin!

They are calling Wolf a bitch. Specifically, Luna's bitch. Welcome to Bloodland Minotaurs...

Hah! =)

Wow. This minotaur leader is turning out to be twice the jerk I thought he would be...

Hooray for letting the characters in my head run as they will. =) I will pause here and let the other players catch up. Sherwood, you, of course, are welcome to post again. Sparkle is in my head right now and she's hoping Luna will get this guy somehow. But that's telling and not showing. Anyways, fun or not, I'm up way late and it's time for bed. Good night and sleep well when it's your time! =)

@Sherwood @Wolf Rawrrr @Kaerri @Captain Hesperus Whoops. Just saw that last post before I went to bed. Initiative rolls here, please (even if your character is not yet in the fight). =)

Here is Luna's initiative roll for the upcoming fight.

Re: Rolls. Yeah, I realized that it's d20 and d8, but for some reason I repeated the damage roll using same die. Oops!

Re: Bitch. Won't argue with that *woof*

Laughed my tail off reading what you wrote, Dannigan ( :D )(^.^). You are good at seamlessly integrating humor into the story. I could totally imagine the minotaurs doing just that ha-ha! Stupid minotaurs (> :D )

Only, could you perhaps re-describe the current location here in the OOC again? I'm sorry but from reading so far it seems to me that I've got things wrong. We are on a hill, yes? The stone is in the center, but how big is it exactly? And can we see the sky, like if the top of the hill is on a clearing or are trees literally a few feet from the stone?

[dice]3087[/dice]

Just to let you know, I don't mind if Wolf uses a d20 for his damage rolls. I'm very easy going about things like that. It would be rude of me to insist on having a fellow player use a mere d8 when he could do so much more damage. Just sayin'.( :P )

On a side note, I can personally attest to Dannigan's ability to add elements of drama, suspense, and comedy all in one great package from our time gaming together over the tabletop. One of the better storytellers I know, and I've been gaming for 30+ years now.

I'm not sure what I can hear, so I'll just post my Initiative roll here.

Um just recall everyone that I'm not there, so when ya come back all bloody and covered in GEW, I'm gonna want some storytelling darnit! unless I'm distracted by being blown up by the ore. Crafting roll crafting roll....

Just to give everyone a heads up, next week I'll be offline from late Wednesday night to late Saturday night as I take my family to Utah to visit relatives for the holidays.

Holidays are important. Family is important. Sharing the holidays with your family is really important. (> :D ) I imagine posts will slow down for a lot of us next week. I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

Now for initiative:

Thanks for the compliment, Sherwood, and for the heads-up. Hope you and yours have a terrific time in Utah! =)

@All Re: Battleground and situation. Luna, Wolf, and Bria traversed a 40 meter steep slope to get to the hilltop. Once at the edge of the hilltop, it appears to be over 60 meters long and 80 meters wide with large, tall trees everywhere, some reaching 15 meters high. There are enough trees that it blocks your field of vision beyond the dimensions given (so the hilltop may be wider and farther out?). The branches of said trees start about 2.5 to 4 meters from the ground, so large creatures occasionally have to duck as they tromp through carpets of multicolored leaves (which makes it more difficult [-2 to Stealth rolls] to sneak up from the dry, crunching sounds one makes when walking over them).

The aforementioned great runed stone is a flat obelisk some 3 meters in height and about 12 meters in width. One of the Bloodhorn Minotaurs (the archer) is using it as partial cover (he's too big to get any further benefit). The other three minotaurs are armed with melee weapons. The leader has a spiked shield and a nasty, possibly enchanted flail, and his two cohorts are armed with a great axe (if he crits, watch out!), and dual battle axes (which typically means two-weapon fighting. This means he gets another attack at the cost of accuracy much like Wolf's Rapid Shot feat. Also, it means he has a Dexterity score of at least 15. Again, the "slowness" and "dullness" of Bloodland Minotaurs are more ruse than reality - they want opponents to think they're just dumb and strong. Of the two, they are all only the latter).

Your characters know all of this because you are presumed to have adventured in or around Summerset or Highwind; adventurers from other lands would likely fall for the ruse. I think it's only fair that your characters are aware of it, given what I know of your backgrounds.

Also, Kitrin and Powerpaw are (depending on my die rolls at my computer desk) are either a combat round or two away from this fight, or farther (not likely). Pancake-muncher Otiorin is just a round or two after them. Yes, you're right - this actually shouldn't be. Otiorin should be much farther out, but it's a game and I'm willing to say he's closer (since he took the opportunity to be a part of it). Will he make it in time with Kitrin's armor and the evergreen bundle he carries? We will see.

But now I have to go to work. =)

Before I go, some initiative rolls: Bria +6, Powerpaw +2, Minotaurs +2

We have a three-way tie!

@Sherwood, @Kaerri Roll again for Luna and Kitrin. Also, because your two characters are part of an established team, the two of you may decide between you which of your characters gets to go first. I know Kitrin's not yet at the combat, but at this rate, she will be.

In the meantime though, roll again and beat a...

[dice]3102[/dice]

Luna can go first, she's there already anyhow.

Gah.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope your holidays are even more fun than our gaming.

May the season see you and yours in great happiness!

Honor and fun,

Dann =)
