Silly me. There is always something going on in Sharseya... this storyteller gets distracted sometimes. Whoops! =)

I don't know whether it's common knowledge outside of the immediate Highwind area, as that's where all the action is. Actually, as far as I know all the battles and such have been north of Highwind, even, so it's possible our characters don't know it. I assumed Kitrin did, as she's from Highwind. I'd explain more, but I don't want to step on the GM's toes. >.< I'm sure he'll tell us what we ought to know, and then I'll know what I can know in-character as well. Sorry!

Actually, I do believe that the war was mentioned somewhere. I don't remember where, but I recall seeing it mentioned.

For a great many folks from Summerset, the War for Highwind is something easily missed. Even 100 years after its creation, Summerset continues to see Highwind as an "upstart" "rogue" kingdom not worthy of the attention of the Summerset royalty, which means news of Highwind only gets out to highly-interested parties (which are nearly always folks who call Highwind home). It is no secret that the Kingdom of Summerset felt incredibly insulted and betrayed when, just over a century ago, the powerful and adventurous House Wildegard up and left Summerset to create their own kingdom, proving to all that destiny lies in your own hands, not those of your would-be superiors. King Thayne Wildegard is the third monarch to hold the Highwind throne, and he knows better than to consider asking Summerset for aid. In Highwind's war for survival against the dread armies of the Black Fang, Highwind, as kingdoms go, stands alone.

That said, we haven't really worked out where each of your characters hail from.

Leonard is from a "small town in the South", which puts his origins in Summerset - however he's also traveled around quite a bit. I intentionally left the scope of his travels vague because I didn't know what was okay and what not. I imagined him scouring pretty much all of Summerset (or the interesting parts to scour at least), and while he did trek northwards, he wouldn't have gone as far as Highwind yet.

Given his history I'd be surprised if the North was at war and he didn't hear at least a couple whispers of it here and there. Though it wouldn't be impossible to happen *bark*

I'm not sure where Luna is from; where ever a good magicians guild is located, since members of her family are also mages, too. With the ranks I have in my knowledge skills, she probably knows about the war, though.

BTW, does Stewart have anything to say about my offer for work?

All, Re: Real Life: Last Friday, Kaerri's grandfather passed away and tomorrow we bury him with full military honors. That will take up more time, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else given the circumstances. I hope to be able to post tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

My condolences, Kaerri and Dannigan. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this time. Don't worry about us, we'll still be here when you return.

Captain Hesperus

Take all the time you need, guys. I wish you both the best at this time of loss.

I'm there with ya

Thanks everyone, you're all wonderful people and I do very much appreciate your support through this. *hugs*

Thanks for the support, everyone. It means a lot to me, to us. Four good people I know have died this year, and that's four too many - so the rest of you stay healthy and happy, won't you? =)

I will try and post something tonight, Real Life willing. =)

And we haz a post! I hope folks do not mind my fast-forwarding the scene. It will take an elf's age to get to Highwind if we roleplay every waking hour... =)

@Sherwood Re: Arcane Discoveries. I don't think this is right for Sharseya, but I appreciate you bringing up the option. Re: Luna knowing about the war in Highwind. Yes, with her time and study in her skills, she would know of it (unless, for some reason, you would rather her not know).

@Wolf Rawrrr A Perception roll for Leonard in this thread, if you please?

No problem on the Arcane Discoveries. If you never ask, the answer is always 'no'. I will go ahead and have Luna aware of the war in Highwind. It makes sense with her Knowledge skills.

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

You reckon them native americans curse the day, tho? #didntMeanToSpoilThanksgiving

Things are so slow in all the RPs I am currently in. If I weren't such a masterful procrastinator, I'd use this period to get something done *woof*
