I do believe we're the Wayward Wanderers though, not Wayfarers. Even if it is very similar.

I already commissioned the official merchandise, see, and it's too late to edit my order *howl*

Also the Wandering Wayfarers out of Sommerset have already copyrighted their name, so there's that legal wrangle.

Hah! Whoops! =)

I guess I'm doing good not to get this group's name confused with an earlier team, "The Wandering Monsters" (which some of them were). =)

@All. Things of note I figured I'd share with you -

- The conversation between Luna and Bria is completely between them (noise-wise).

- If folks like, I will fast-forward the time along so that once the wagons reach the checkpoint, then all of your characters will get on to resting (barring any Wandering Monster encounters). Chatting like this is an excellent way to keep folks awake and alert. Keep in mind that the Grand Wagon appears to be soundproof from the inside. If something loud happens outside, people in that wagon will be completely clueless. Just pointing it out.

- As for Otiorin, Stewart got the impression that Otiorin was going to sleep out in the pool, but somehow he has missed the conversation between Bronze and Otiorin. This is why he is wanting to check on Otiorin. Stewart is not so much worried about Bronze. However, Bronze wanted the prismalcum... This is an easy fix. See, now that Big Fuzzy has been shown his room, he is on his way back to put his belongings in there.

@killfire Have Bronze ask Powerpaw for the prismalcum in a short post? Then Bronze can get to studying it?

- Wolf, Pecker, and Sparkle are out cold. The mimics are watching them closely. And sniffing their feets. Just kidding. =)

Hope you put your shoes in a safe spot!

Hey friends,

I have a request to make of you. For some time now, I've been considering a character shift. I like Kitrin, but there's another character who I really miss, and who I think I would enjoy more in the long run. The request comes in here: he's an established character with a lot of experience in Sharseya. I don't mean level-wise, because Dann will arrange for an in-character level sacrifice so that he's on par with the party (including gear). I mean that this character has been played extensively in earlier Sharseya games and will know and have history with some of the people (good and bad) that we come across, especially in Highwind (if and when we reach it). With that in mind, I don't want to switch if any of you have a problem with this, so do let me know! Please don't think I won't have fun either way, I really want to know what your opinions are.

Also, yes, this other character is a he. That's easier over the internet than it was in a tabletop game  but you're welcome to comment on that as well.

Would this new character be known to the rest of us, or will this be a introduction of a new face? Also, what will happen to Kitrin? My thoughts are that I have no objection to the idea of a new character. Can you tell us a bit more about him?

I would hold no objection either, though it would be nice to hear more about him meanwhile. And I assume Kitrin will become an NPC?

Re: Kitrin becoming an NPC/retirement. Ah, no. I don't run that way; I don't play characters that other people made (nor do other players play mine in games I'm running) - Your characters are always yours. =)

Here's how it works: If Kaerri (or any of you) chooses to bring another character in, the current character becomes retired. This means that character is put into a form of Temporal Stasis but with one important difference - that character goes pretty much wherever the player wants them to wind up (within reason) and does not adventure. It's kind of like playing a video game RPG and switching characters - the currently played character gets the experience, loot, etc. while the retired one stays put neither gaining nor losing. Retired characters, being in a form of Temporal Stasis, are also not subject to damage or death (unless, for some reason, the player decides they want this, though I can't imagine why they would).

Basically, you tell me what you want done with that character, and again within reason, I come up with a way to make it happen within the eternal goings-ons of Sharseya.

The character Kaerri wants to play has thus been "retired" for the purposes of our game. =)

Thanks for the interest! I wasn't trying to be mysterious, I just didn't want to write oodles of text about someone y'all weren't interested in. But since you are...

Brendoran Killaneson Sarabina, Bren for short, is the third son (and next-youngest child) of a minor noble in Summerset. The Sarabinas are known mainly in "horsey" circles for their horsebreeding and horsemanship skills, so it's possible any resident of Summerset with an interest in such things would have heard of them. They're also known for being an odd bunch, not your typical noble family at all. Bren isn't the only adventurer in the family - his father, Killane, spent some time studying at the Ko Monastery as a monk; his mother, Aurelia, is a druidess; his oldest brother, Alexendar, is a bard; and his half-sister, Kikko (discovered through roleplaying, long story) is also a Ko monk. He is married to Kela, a half (wood) elven cleric of Pelor (a PC who is currently in that Temporal Stasis that Dannigan mentioned, presumably doing priestess-things in Summerset). Bren is a big guy, like an American-football linebacker, but nicer - he somehow gets along with just about everyone, bad guys excluded of course, probably due to his openness towards other people, not to mention loyalty to his friends and party members (which all too frequently got himself in trouble, or worse). We had an ongoing joke that he was the "elf-magnet," not just because of Kela, but because the party always had at least one full-blooded elf, sometimes two or even three. GM sez I should explain some more personality things, but I'm bad at that so I'll quote him on it. Very easy-going (until pushed), self-sacrificing, likes cutting orcs in twain, has a strong sense of justice, very brave (not fearless, but he doesn't let his fear hold him back)

Bren is a fighter-ranger, once the leader of the adventuring party The Light in the Dark, based out of Highwind (that group had to stop playing due to scheduling and other issues, so it's effectively disbanded). He prefers axes, especially two-handed axes, and can deliver a powerful blow that knocks back whoever's unlucky enough to get hit by it (his signature ability). Ranger notes: he picked two-weapon style because it applies to shield bashing and that sort of thing also; he does not (and will not) have an animal companion. He retired from adventuring some time back, after dying in a fight against a dracolich and getting rezzed (that sort of thing tends to make you reconsider your life choices), but has recently discovered he isn't yet the type to sit around at home all day, and is getting back into the saddle, as it were. Because of his earlier career as an adventurer, he and his party are rather famous (or perhaps infamous) in Highwind, but less so in other places as they tended to stay in that area. He also has a number of connections of various types in that city. (Note: Bren became the leader of The Light in the Dark because we had rather a large number of people, many of them of chaotic alignments, making a leader pretty much necessary. As the lawful one, and as we were doing a lot of missions on behalf of the (lawful good) bishop of St. Cuthbert, he was the natural choice for the party's leader. I don't have any intention of him "taking over" the Wayward Wanderers, nor would he have any such thoughts.) Bren and Bria (but not Powerpaw) have adventured together in the past; otherwise he's a new face to this party. However, residents of Summerset would probably have heard of the rise of the Pelorian temple in recent times, and somewhat about The Light in the Dark, which helped make it happen.

Metagame: He reached level 14 before retiring (actually, I think he's reached it a couple times, what with a couple of deaths and all), but Dann says there will be some level- and gear-sacrificing reason for him to be level 6 so that he's on par with the party.

Any questions?

Sounds good to me. I look forward to seeing the new blood introduced.

A quick question as to keep from making a mistake in the main thread. Is there any problem with Luna having a small travel chess set in her bag of holding? With new people around, she will want to challenge Bria, Stewart, Bronze, the Meadowsweets, and even Powerpaw to a game.

And here is another question. On the Pathfinder Resource site, there is a listing for Arcane Discoveries that can be selected by wizards in place of Feats. I have spotted a couple that look interesting to me, and I was wondering if these are going to be allowed, most notably the Fast Study and the Split Slot ones:

Wizards spend much of their lives seeking deeper truths, hunting knowledge as if it were life itself. The wizard’s power is not necessarily the spells he wields; spells are merely the outward, most visible manifestation of that power. A wizard’s true power is in his fierce intelligence, his dedication to his craft, and his ability to peel back the surface truths of reality to understand the fundamental underpinnings of existence. A wizard spends much of his time researching spells, and would rather find an undiscovered library than a room full of gold. A wizard need not be a reclusive bookworm, but he must have a burning curiosity for the unknown. Arcane discoveries are the results of this obsession with magic.

A wizard can learn an arcane discovery in place of a regular feat or wizard bonus feat.

Arcane Discoveries - Paizo

Notice to the Group: As of November 11, 2014 at 1908 hours PST, (REDACTED) my mom has met Death and has welcomed her. After a short battle with lung cancer, and a long battle with Alzheimer's, the mean old battleax has passed away. Thank God. She is in a better place, and my life begins again. Thanks for your understanding with these joyous times, now I'm going to go eat a rather large steak, and start thinking about The Future!

Even as much as she was a mean old battleax, I offer my condolences to you. It is never easy to lose a family member.

Holy wow... I'm sorry for your loss, Killfire, yet I'm glad for you.

And Sherwood's right - she was a battle axe, all right.

@Sherwood I'll need to spend some time researching Arcane Discoveries. Just like adding a new spell, if something like Arcane Discoveries goes for Luna, it goes for... well... all wizards in my game (and that will change things across Sharseya; the question is: how much?). I'll seriously consider it, though at first glance, I don't like the changes that I think will follow if I allow them.

Not a problem if you nix the idea. There are plenty of regular Feats for Luna to pick up without them. I just saw the two I mentioned and said 'Wow! I want!' But I say that about dozens of things for my sheet. Just let me know before more xp is handed out so I can decide what to get for my level 7 upgrade.

@Sherwood Re: Chess set. Since the time of character creation is over, I don't feel comfortable adding one in. Still, it is not an uncommon thing to have. Something to pick up at the next shop you come across?

Ok. Just wanted to make sure before I had Luna pull one out and you shake your head and say, "Not on your sheet, you don't got it!" I'll pick one up on our next stop.

True enough, but why loot what we already own? Even so, I would like a good travel set for the times we are away from the Wagon and don't want to pull out the fancy set that is there.

Maybe our resident master blacksmith could construct you a set of chessmen. Black iron and polished steel on a board of rowan and ebony woods.

Now you're talking... Good thinking, Cap'n. =)

I was thinking more on the line of black and white flubber chessboard... BOING BOING BOING! When Chess pieces attack!
Um. There's a war? :gasp:
I don't think so, beyond the general 'Wandering Monster Horde'-type wars.
