Giant cannot be spoken by medium or smaller creatures without the use of a tuba.

Ha ha ha ha!  That's terrific!  You mean, Bren's never shown you his magical pocket-tuba he uses to speak Giant?  8D

That's a neat bunch of helpful comments, Dann, but I don't see any tangible language suggestions (where applicable)! :P

Correct!  I purposely made no suggestions; I hadn't heard from Cap'n or Sherwood on the subject and I wanted their thoughts before I made any.

As for Draconic, to be honest, I always imagine the dragon language from Skyrim whenever I think back on the group's encounter with a dragon. The sharp-edged words and sibilant phrases seem to suit the snake-like tongue of a dragon.

I have never played Skyrim, but I understand the remastered version is coming out in September.  Do any of you have advice on whether or not to get it?  If so, do you recommend PC or PS4?

Thieves' Cant is, as Dann says, not so much a defined language, but a combination of verbal inflections, hand signals, drawn markings and so on that can be used in a public place to inform other thieves of some secret intent without the general public aware.

This.  We're talking spy-to-spy type communication that, while it can be verbal, doesn't always have to be (especially if the message is simple).  Two or more Rogues can go into a room filled with people and share an entire conversation with nearly as many details as a typical spoken conversation without anyone else in the room being the wiser.  But woe to the Rogue that teaches Thieves Cant to a non-Rogue.  Imagine playing a game where you never have the chance to Train for another experience level again (and that's just the beginning of your Rogue's troubles)...

Druidic is Gaelic.

Druidic in Sharseya is more than (Irish) Gaelic; there are hints of Beast Speech (the language of animals) in Sharseyan Druidic, making it one of the best languages to speak between intelligent peoples.  Between two speakers fluent in Druidic, there is very little chance of someone misunderstanding a statement's intent or a word's definition when speaking Druidic.  Things like body language, inflection, overall tone, facial expressions, and the like mix in with the words in a near-perfect blend of mind-to-mouth communication.  Add to this that the Druids of Shandra's Evergreen (which make up the bulk of Druids in your neck of the world on Sharseya) are detail-minded people who take communication very seriously, and you have next to no mishaps in communication between Druids.

@Sherwood Do you have any opinions on this subject?

Get Skyrim, Dann (PC version). It's not just Skyrim, it's The Elder Scrolls. It's one of the best games ever made.

I grew up on Oblivion. I remember wandering the northern reaches of the map and wishing that I could cross over into Skyrim... And then couple years laters, SKYRIM.

My definite recommendation. 10/10, and I don't just hand these out easily. Plus a badass seal of approval! *howl*

@Sherwood Read the spoiler at the bottom of Dann's last IC post.  Y'know, the one just below "(OOC note for Luna and Otiorin)". ;)

I want to give Wolf and Cap'n a chance to chime in before I post again.  =)

@Wolf Rawrrr  I need a d20 roll from you.  Since we don't have a dice roller here on RpN 2.0, would you please choose a color from this list and I'll roll it?

1. Red

2. Orange

3. Yellow

4. Green

5. Blue

6. Purple

7. White

8. Orange/white

Best part is, I can't tell you which of your characters this is for.  =)

@Captain Hesperus Some time in the next two days, would you provide a post (in whatever length is convenient) for Otiorin?  Or if Real Life has you too busy, let me know and I'll just keep the story going?  I don't mean to pressure.  =)

Uh, not to sound like a hobbit at a pie party, but that really is just a portion of my collection.  Like many tabletop players, dice just wonderfully accumulate as the years go by.  I still have most of the dice from my very first collection, even before Killfire and Sherwood and I played together...  Wow...  =)

Let's see how red treats you.  *rolls*  Result: 13.  Thanks, Wolf!  =)

Cap'n, thanks for the quick post (and boy, does that statement makes you sound like a mailman or something...)!  =)

Heya folks!  I expect to have posts up in 24 hours.  I'm really beat; six-day work weeks and strange wake-up times are catching up to me.  Hope your lives are more stable!  =)

I am trying to find my muse before just making a bland post for Luna.  I should be up to having a good post soon, though.

I've been a bit distracted myself recently, mostly by work (and Fallout 4's new DLC, Nuka World; that's a fun game to play when my mind is worn out from the day).   =)

Heya folks!  Just touching base here.

In Wolf's game, Amaranth, he posted that he was taking a trip to go horseback riding and to spend time on the seashore.  I don't know exactly how long he'll be gone, but I hope he's having a blast!  In the meantime, I want Sharseya to keep moving.  I should have a post up before the end of the weekend.  Hope your weekend is going good, folks (especially yours, Wolf!  Hooray for vacations!).  =)

Indeed.  Vacations are a thing of beauty and goodness, and I'm already looking forward to my next one; GenCon is celebrating 50 years of convention nerdyness and fun, and I've already been promised that I can go.

Like I said and thought, it was just four days and incomplete at that. Surely poor compensation put up against all the other days of the year. Sorry for not dropping in - it went by even faster than I expected. Didn't even have time for a single entry in my journal that I brought along.

Anyway I'm back and will try to post everywhere as soon as I can.

*woof*

No worries!  Welcome back, Wolf!  =)  I hope you enjoyed what time you had...

Wolf, I feel I should point out that Ranthorn's arrival in our game signals just one "out" for Leonard so you can finally play Nivi.  This arrival, I thought, was the best answer to the question, "What would take Leonard Wolf away from the Wayfaring Wanderers and Luna (and not have the party chasing down Leonard afterward)?"

How ever the scene goes is up to you and Leonard.  If this "out" does not work, there are others.

I have to admit I never planned or even wanted for such a scenario, which is part of the reason why I've made my character's background the way I have, but I can't deny that it could work.

Guess we'll go with it and see where it takes us *woof*

Right!  I've been feeling similarly since I created the situation!  Thanks so much for being open to a scenario like this, Wolf.  You're up to take on role-playing challenges that you and your character might not want, but you're willing to give it a go anyway.  That you're willing to go beyond your comfort zone continues to reinforce my belief in your role-playing skills and heart.  You've got a lot of both.  =)

Ha ha!  He's supposed to!  He's a Rogue!  =)

You may have noticed that I have not yet written as Powerpaw or Mamapaw since the Wayfaring Wanderers came through the Gate.  This whole time in my head, Powerpaw has been asking me when he can loot.  Mind, he does not actually want yet to take the things that he sees are rightfully Shalin's and Ranthorn's (call it The Gladiator's Rule of Looting if you like it); the Fuzzy Goof wants to see what they have and make Bren aware of it.  For Powerpaw has heard much about ogres, but has only engaged them in battle once - he wants to know why these ogres are so damn well-armed - it's a question his mother, who has "moar" direct experience with ogres in Shandra's Evergreen, would like answers to as well.  For they have never been so well-armed as this.  But the meeting between Leonard and Ranthorn outweighs such trivial concerns greatly.

As for the Formorians?  Like Otiorin, this is the first time either Felane has ever seen one.  Talk about a tale to tell when you eventually go home to see the rest of the family, right?
