At the Adventurers' Table

Good questions, Sherwood. =) Otiorin is the closest Wayfaring Wanderer to the crystalline hawk charm (it is but 10 feet away from him), but he'll have to be a little lucky to get to it.

The rest of you (Luna included) are about 50 feet from the charm, but there are no physical obstacles between you and the item. Any Wayfaring Wanderer save Otiorin can move around the violent melee of some twenty warring werewolves without provoking attacks of opportunity. If you choose to engage said werewolves, that, of course, becomes another story.

Since the Wayfaring Wanderers are not in combat at this time, you are free to perform any non-hostile actions amongst yourselves without worry. The question is: What do each of you do or not do?

If the hawk is too heavy for Mage Hand, I can use Unseen Servant to get it out of the melee without risking anyone. Hopefully I just didn't make things even worse.

Sherwood? Remember this part, buddy? =)

If you choose to act, please post here and roll Initiative on the Adventurers' Table.

It is worth repeating; if your characters want to take action in regards to the crystalline bird charm, Initiative is required here (I don't want it to fall to whichever player logs on first; that's not fair. Hence the dice to see which character is able to act the swiftest).

Whoops! Sorry! Rolling now.

Initiative roll is only an 8. I thought that my dex bonus was a +3, but its only a +2. Sorry.

Rolling.

Initiative is as follows:

Otiorin: 17

Powerpaw: 14

Wolf Rawrr: 12

Bren: 10

Luna: 8

Sabrefang: 7

@Captain Hesperus It's your go, fella. =) Perhaps it is the Luck of the Half-Elves? Technically, we are not in combat (hence no apparent roll for the Grugach). I am going to allow Otiorin to get the Shield spell off, then take some action of his choosing. Remember that he is nigh-surrounded by the Grugach. Please attempt Otiorin's action in the in-game thread and good luck! =)

At least Luna is not the absolute very last member of the team to go.....

@Captain Hesperus Please provide a Stealth roll here. Practically speaking, it seems Otiorin's best bet to get out of this melee in one piece is to get by those Grugach who are distracted by their brethren and therefore do not notice him. =)

What about Wolf's entangle spell? Will that do anything? Beside possibly incurring the wrath of all hostile units within range, I mean.

Oti's Stealth roll +10

Whelp. I am but a leaf, kicked up by the fighting and drifting through it all, utterly unaffected and unnoticed by all.

You, sir, are an evil man. Funny, though. But very evil. ( ;) )

@Wolf Rawrrr[/URL] That can only be known when it becomes Wolf's turn.

DM Note to Players: I mainly asked you to write those posts as to have a strong idea of what your characters were going to do (if anything). As with combat-related initiative, you may change your action as you wish, but (except only in very rare circumstances) you may only take that action on your turn.

@Captain Hesperus Heya Cap'n! After that awesome evasive maneuver of Otiorin's, the ball is in his court as to what to do with the crystalline bird charm. =)

Well, for the sake of gameplay, I decided to fudge the rules a little bit. I will explain later if there is interest.

I hope to have a post up later tonight. Until then, I hope folks had a great Memorial Day weekend (those who celebrate it)! =)

I observe it, to a degree, even though we don't really celebrate the contribution of our fallen military personnel until November.

Captain Hesperus

And... Real Life has struck again. I will post as soon as I'm able.

No worries, old friend. We will still be here when you can post.

I have posted again. Yay! Thanks for your patience. Enjoy, friends! =)

Wait, we're not assuming that the crystalline artifact triggered the Gate? You know, the one that just blew up into a million gold/blue sparks tracing sigils in the air above us?

Also, how are Bren and the Felane between Otiorin and Grugach, if Otiorin is in the middle of the Grugach at the same time? Actually, wait. You mean that Otiorin is between Bren and Sabrefang and Powerpaw? So it's like this:

I think it's pretty clear that the crystalline figure caused the awesome SFX over our heads, yes :) And those who know what a Gate spell is, and what it looks like, know that that's what's happening and that presumably something is going to come through it. Hopefully a good something, under the circumstances.

That's close to the impression I had of our relative positions, too, Wolf. Or possibly Bren, Powerpaw, and Sabrefang all between Otiorin and the Grugach, with Luna, Wolf, and Vardadraug behind/beside Otiorin (but not immediately behind, if that makes sense - off to the side since they didn't move, but still forming a loose sort of group with the others).
