Yeah. Luna's described background doesn't explicitly state it, but the Callens are a noble family from Summerset, just like the Sarabinas and the Varelyses. They're all minor noble houses, though Nivirea's family might be somewhat better off in that regard, I think - just from comparing what I know about each so far. That's after nerfing Nivirea's background, mind you, following a discussion with Dann that made me believe it really was for the best, lol. Big names equal big trouble, so I decided I'd rather play someone who was near the top of the minor tier than the bottom of the greater tier.

But you've asked about Luna *woof*

See, according to what's in her background, her father enrolled her in a wizarding school. She's had tutors. Now, I still don't know much about the economy of Sharseya, but it seems to me like they'd have to be somewhat wealthy in order to do that. And wealth often, though not always, signals nobility of some tier.

TM = trademark, I tend to put it on "soon" when saying things like "We're working on that problem and may have a solution Soon(TM)." It's for humor value mostly. The link goes into more depth (and funnies).

Let me address this for anyone who's interested. =)

If by "better off" one means in terms of long lineage, strong standing with the crown, and overall financial and political stability, of the three houses represented in the Wayward Wanderers, that honor undoubtedly goes to House Sarabina. The Golden City of the Valley is filled whose people love horses. They have the best cavalry on the continent and a nice horse (like a nice car nowadays) is a well-regarded status symbol. A rare breed of horse is even more valuable.

That said, no one in Summerset breeds finer horses than House Sarabina and for that, they have even the King's ear in all matters equine. The Sarabinas are a bit on the eccentric side in that few of them have any political ambition, being content to chase their individual dreams all while supporting their good name and beautiful city. Politically-speaking, this basically means they're not really a threat to anyone while being a long-standing example of honor, quality of character, and integrity. Because of this, nearly everyone knows you can trust a Sarabina (though Bren comes by his reputation honestly, not just he came from a good-aligned adventuring family!). The Sarabinas also have their share of adventurers in their line, both past and present. This is a rare thing among Summerset nobility and this makes them sought after for matters beyond the mundane. =)

Luna's family, House Callen, boasts a long line of potent wizards and political powerhouses for a minor house. House Callen is one of few houses that is filled with magic-users, especially wizards. A House Callen wizard is something special indeed. While most of them do not adventure (Luna is considered a rarity), there has never been a poor wizard from this line. House Callen is respected for their knowledge, arcane power, and genuine loyalty to the crown. Master Illusionist Lord Callen is not afraid of any enemy of Summerset and has proven it beyond doubt on more than one occasion.

Nivirea's family, House Varelys, is reputable and popular among Summerset's noble merchant families. Dependable and wise in money matters, if there is something outside of Summerset that you need, say from the coastal city of Glimmerdawn or even as far north as war-torn Highwind, the Varelys Trading Group can likely procure it for a fair price (they're not cheaters unlike some in Summerset). House Varelys is known for its financial cunning, reliable service, and trustworthy business dealings. House Varelys is currently in very good standing with the crown, but the big question other houses are asking concerns their trade with Highwind; those in the merchant business are eager to know what will happen to House Varelys's fortunes and future prospects should Highwind lose the war and fall.

Wowzer. Sherwood and Kaerri, you should totally make some reference to this in your character sheets! Half of this is news to me, though I suppose I might have speculated as much based on what I could read *woof*

Did you guys hear that the actor R. Lee Earmy from 'Full Metal Jacket' died today? Apparently it was from complications of pneumonia. :ghosthalo:

That part came after Mamapaw's roar, right? Until then, she was off in her own little world, waiting for everyone else to go to the store that they were told about. After that, she would have listened to Powerpaw for his explanation.

Sad to see him go, but he's left a lot of good memories for the rest of us.
 
Personally, I am looking forward to seeing how the "romance" between our chaotic neutral sorceress and our lawful good paladin plays out! Oh, just the thought of it all makes my eyes flutter and my heart go pitter-pat! Woooooo! =)

Whew... O.K.! So your 6 day/week-working, happy-but-worn-the-heck-out, headache-having, hyperkinetic Dungeon Master here is about to enjoy five whole consecutive days off! Starting now! WOOOO!

While I post and finish up more of my behind-the-scenes fun in both Sharseya and Robotech: Broadsword, I wanted to ask you guys and gals - is there anything on top of the posting you'd like to see (preferably something I could accomplish in the next five days)? Anything added or adjusted, changed-up or explained, while I have the time to me?

I was thinking about sorting the Shop Talks in both games with tabs (if there is any interest from you; if not I'll spend my energy elsewhere), or adding/creating in-game NPC "character sheets" (not their stats because no one is ever interested in those, but things like Internet art, music, and DM-like introspection and Real Life background, again if anyone is interested), or maybe going back through Sharseya's early chapters and cleaning up all of my posts (not so boring as it might seem, but I get a kick out of rereading those. I'll make it a priority to try and return some of my old posts to legibility if there is sufficient player interest)?

Anything on your minds you'd like to see in either of our games, folks? I'll consider anything reasonable. =)
 
I'm always interested in stuff like that, but I'd never ask for it because I know how much time it takes from personal experience :P

Whatever you do will be well appreciated! *woof*
