Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"That.. ew. You can play with the ants," Vera commented, "I'm fine. Just tired."

Jack smiled, "If you start having trouble I'm carrying you," he decided out loud as they kept walking. Almost as soon as he said that, he heard a crunch and looked down to see his foot in the middle of a carbonemys egg. Almost on cue, all of the giant turtles in the area's heads snapped to look at the two humans and started towards them as fast as they could waddle.

"We should run," Vera said. The beasts weren't fast, but she didn't bring anything for defense, and those things could hit pretty hard.

"Uh, yeah," Jack didn't have any weapons either, aside from his crossbow, and one man with a crossbow couldn't deal with a dozen carbonemys with the limited arrows he had, "How many points do you have in movement speed?", Jack had a few, and more in carry weight, if Vera was slower he could easily pick her up and run back with her over his shoulder.

"Then run!", Jack tore off sprinting back to the camp, keeping up with Vera pretty easily. When they got up the slope, Anna and Roan had finished saddling the birds, and were getting ready for a test flight before it got dark.

"What's up with you two- that's a lot of turtles." Anna whistled for the dinos to become aggressive towards the carbonemys and quickly tore at them.

Vera turned in time to see the raptors, wolves and spino easily shredding the carbys apart, "Jack stepped on an egg..."

"It wasn't on purpose!", Jack protested as carcasses appeared and vanished into the inventories of the creatures. He looked down and the eggshell was still around his foot like a weird shoe.

"Well Jack's just got a talent for pissing people off today, doesn't he?", Anna giggled.

"Maybe just a little, just dont go playing with bees nests," Vera giggled.

"That might actually be a source of chitin," Jack realized, frowning. "If we could cage a hive..."

"Idiot," Anna rolled her eyes. "Vera, we're getting ready for a test flight, you wanna come?"

"No, I'm good, " She replied, "I think I'll stay here."

"Well, lets get going then," Roan said.

"Yeah," Anna nodded and went to her red bird, climbing into the improvised saddle. It lacked the crafting station functionality of the intended argentavis saddle, but that was very far out of reach and they didn't have any blueprints for it. "Ready when you are, Roan!"

Jack shook his head and kicked the shell off of his foot, where one of the wolves cought it like a ball and they started running around the yard trying to take it from the one that caught it in a weird game. "Dogds," he muttered, before looking at Vera, "So, we're good?"

Roan mounted his golden bird, ready to take off. "Lets go!"

The flapping of wings sounded as the pair took off.

Vera nodded, "We're good."

Roan and Anna found out pretty quickly that riding a flyer was much more difficult than riding a creature on the ground. The saddle wasn't designed with a human riding in mind, which was a bit odd. They were sitting on their knees with no straps or buckles to hold them down, and they were basically attached to the bird by their hand grip strength on the saddle horn.

"Alright," Jack smiled, "Do you need anything built?"

"We ought to add a seat belt or something," Roan called out.

"I dont think so, no, but thank you," She said.

"YEAH!", Anna called back, clinging on for dear life.

"Alright," jack smiled, and whistled for Janus, "Come on, girl!", he called his wolf over and started back towards his house.

"This is a disaster waiting to happen!" He called again. "We should land."

Vera watched him go before taking to her hut again.

Anna didn't respond, just did her best to angle Ember back down towards the ground to land. They looked pretty frazzled when they landed, but Ra and Ember somehow just looked very smug.

Roan scrambled off the bird as soon as it landed, "Definitely need seatbelts.."

"Uh huh..." Anna didn't climb off of the bird so much as fall backwards off of her. "That was a bad idea..."
