Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Roan scratched his head, "I dunno man, maybe just apologize?"

Vera pushed Anna's hand away, not wanting to be touched, "It doesn't matter."

"For what? I didn't do anything!"

"Alright, fine," Anna put the cloth away, "Let's go, once this conversation is over we can go do something fun and get your mind off this." She started towards the door.

"Just in general, maybe it'll make her feel better. " Roan shrugged.

"I think I just want to sleep," Vera said, rubbing her arm. She didn't feel like talking anymore.

Jack threw up his hands as Anna and Vera reappeared out of Vera's house, "Fine, if it'll put a stop to this trikeshit!"

"Alright, then you can go to sleep after," Anna nodded and led the way back up to the workshop, "I think you two have something to say to each other," she said to Jack and Vera before taking a step back.

Roan watched, waiting for the apologies to be exchanged. Vera seemed to hug herself, her eyes downcast. She felt lost, like she had no right to her own emotions. She didn't care anymore, "I'm sorry.."

"For telling me to go play with raptors or for being crazy?"

"jack."

Jack sighed, "I'm sorry for being an ass today."

Vera never even bothered looking up at the man. She simply bit her lip and turned away, going into her hut. Roan furrowed his brow, "Is she ok?"

"I don't know," Jack shrugged and turned back to what he was doing, finishing the last pteranodon saddle, "But these are done, see if they'll fit on the birds." He turned his implant to make another saddle, "Seen any ankies anywhere?"

"She said she wanted to sleep when this was over," Anna sighed, "I guess she's going to bed." She looked at Jack, "You know, you're pretty smart most of the time but that was stupid."

Vera said on her bed, the tears that had been threatening to fall finally giving way as she softly sobbed into her hands.

"Yea, that was kind of a dick move," Roan agreed.

"If you're just gonna yell at me, there's more productive things you can be doing," Jack muttered, he jerked his head at the stack of pteranodon saddles, "We've got birds that need saddles, see if you can fit them."

"Jack we need everyone on the same page, you're not even reading the same book," Anna shook her head.

"Can you try to understand that you were an ass about it?" Roan asked, "Do you even know what you said?"

"Yeah, I asked what she was apologizing for," Jack crossed his arms, "Was she apologizing for telling me to kill myself or for how she's gone off the rails today over assbones?"

"You're thick as a brick," Anna sighed, grabbing a saddle.

"Is there a nice way to ask if someone's apologizing for telling you to kill yourself?", Jack demanded, "I'd love to hear it!"

"Well, lets start with, dont insult someone when youre apologizing," Roan started, "Or, if you're asking what someone is apologizing for, don't make them feel like an ass for apologizing?"

"Well, what do you want me to do?", Jack threw up his hands, "I don't have a time machine. If I did, we wouldn't be having this conversation!"

"You can start by going to her and actually apologizing!", Anna said as she walked back by, "Roan, we'll need some hide and keratin to lengthen the straps, but otherwise they fit."

Roan nodded, getting to work in getting the stuff needed, "I got it.."

Anna smiled and went back to the birds.

Jack sighed and laid the anky saddle he'd just finished next to the smithy, "Fine, I'll go talk to her." He shook his head, not understanding why things just couldn't make sense like they were supposed to. Even with the animals it was simple, why were people complicated? He left his work behind and headed towards Vera's.

After some work, Roan was able to bring Anna the stuf she needed, "Here you go."

Vera laid in her bed sniffling. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

"Thanks," Anna started affixing things in placing, using Roan as another pair of hands as they adjusted the bird saddles.

Jack stood at Vera's door for a moment. Apparently just saying things was an issue, so he had to try and be tactful about this. What did tactful even mean? Jack wasn't sure, but he had to be that right now. He knocked on the door, "Anna? Are you okay?"

"Perfect," Roan said with a smile.

Vera stayed quiet for a moment, "What do you want?"

Before long, Anna and Roan's implants buzzed. "New Engram Unlocked: Improvised Flier Saddle!"

"I wanna talk," Jack paused, "I'm sorry, I've been acting like an ass today."

"Sweet!" Roan said, "New engram."

Vera sighed and opened the door, "Talk about what?"
