Fantasy Anything Goes

'I don't mind meat,' Aileada thought and accidentally ended up laughing aloud. She quickly covered her mouth as her face flushed. Quickly she tried regaining her posture as she looked up at the sky, at the near by buildings, anywhere but at the two gentlemen accompanying her.

He nearly choked on a full lung of smoke at her comment, but said nothing as they arrived at Victoria's house. Wiping his eyes, he approached his brother and they greeted each other in their native language. Something seemed off about his brother, but Tsatsu couldn't tell quite what it was. He dismissed the matter as Shinu welcomed them inside, his vocal chords rasping as he spoke. "Victoria? We have visitors." Shinu announced as he led them inside.

Victoria steps out into the livingroom and smiles. "Good evening," she greets. "Please forgive the mess. Visitors aren't really a normal thing for me." She walks across the room and stands next to Shinu.

Tsatsu gave an elegant bow as Victoria entered the living room and gave his sibling a look that clearly said 'Pick your jaw up, kid'. With a kind smile, Tsatsu spoke to Victoria. "Thank you for having us. There's no mess to be seen here, besides my brother." He said teasingly as he led Shinu to the kitchen and immediately got to work. Within minutes, the two had placed several pots and pans on the stove, and assembled all the utensils they needed. Tsatsu quietly hung his coat on the back rest of a nearby chair and cracked his knuckles as he returned to the kitchen. As Shinu worked the stove and the oven, Tsatsu conjured the necessary ingredients with his effortless magic, and the two quickly filled the kitchen with the smell of delicious food. Tsatsu sang to his heart's content while Shinu kept the rhythm, tapping and clanging on whatever was closest at the time.

Victoria giggles at Tsatsu's comment and follows them into the kitchen. She stands on her toes, trying to watch what they were doing. "Whatcha makin'?" The red dragon enters the kitchen and flies around Tsatsu's head a couple of times before resting on top of the refrigerator. Victoria curses under her breath. She forgot to put the creature back in its painting.

Aileada smiled as the door was opened. "The house looks fine, much better than mine." She said with a soft laugh. "I wish I was artistic." She said with a smile as she looked around Victoria's home. Her smile stretched as memories flooded her mind. A few years ago Aileada walked around in a house that she was going to buy. It was simple, but open. Its hard wood floors and white walls were comforting. She imagined growing old in that house. But instead she watched as another family bought it and filled it with their hopes and dreams and love. With an inaudible sigh Aileada shook the thought from her head and put on a smile for her friends.

The two wolves looked up when Victoria spoke and exchanged a glance, as though they were reading each other's minds. "If we told you, it'd spoil the surprise." Tsatsu playfully commented as he finished mincing a bundle of chive. He quickly rinsed the knife and tossed it over his shoulder. Without looking away from the pot he was stirring, Shinu's free hand shot out and caught the knife by its handle and deftly chopped the last of a carrot before adding it to the pot. "Don't mind him, Victoria. They're recipies from back home. And don't worry about Wushu. He'll be okay." He said with a smile as he looked up at the tiny dragon perched on the refrigerator.

"Don't throw knives in my kitchen. Last time they were thrown in here, it ended very badly." Victoria looks up at the dragon. "I guess your name is Wushu now." She walks over to the refrigerator and stands on her toes, picking the dragon up. She goes into the livingroom and puts him back in the painting where he belonged.

Aileada watched as Victoria carried in a Chinese dragon and promptly placed it in one of her paintings. She felt as though she should've been questioning it, or be surprised, but instead she shrugged and continued into the kitchen.

Tsatsu stuck his tongue out and started to say something, but Shinu silenced him with merely a look. After a brief silence, Shinu began to sing, although his voice was a bit lower than usual. His voice was slowly coming back to him, but Tsatsu was kind enough to fill in where he could not manage. Humming and tapping their feet, they gave a rather decent rendition of Drift Away that brought a rather jazzy feeling to the house. When they'd finished, they began to set the table. Udon with teriyaki shrimp and chicken, sushi of various kinds, chicken parmesan alfredo, and a strange looking dish that resembled a large ham glazed with honey and sprinkled with chives. With a proud smile, Tsatsu set a bottle down inside a bucket of ice and placed it at the center of the table. "Ladies and gentlemen, bon appetít. Dinner is served." He said as he held his hands out and gestured for everyone to sit. "I will be your server for this evening."

Victoria sits down at the table. "I haven't had a meal like this since I graduated high school. Although I hope this tastes much better than school food." She smiles and looks at the food covering her table. It was also the first time her table had been covered in food rather than paper and art supplies.

Aileada watch Tsatsu with a small smirk as she sat at the table. Her stomach growled softly as her emerald eyes scanned over the food hungrily. "It looks amazing." She said with a grin.

Shinu seated himself beside Victoria and grinned sheepishly. If there was one thing his brother was exceptionally talented at, it was embarrassing him. Tsatsu pointed to each dish and beamed with pride. "For our appetizer, we'll start with a collection of sushi. Spring roll, trout, and salmon. On the left, we have udon soup with chicken and shrimp teriyaki, complemented with basil and a pinch of lemon grass, in a curry broth. On the right, we have chicken parmesan alfredo, complememted by chives and a dash of garlic. And in the center, a delicious roasted boar that's been infused with ginger and cinnamon, with a honey glaze. Our wine this evening is a red sample from my personal collection. But I can't tell you what it is. I'm afraid you might not like it." He said with a humble tone as he gestured for everyone to take what they wanted and begin.

Aileada watched somewhat anxiously, waiting for someone to begin eating. She didn't know why, but she always got uncomfortable when it came to eating around others, especially when she was in control of how much she could take. So instead of scooping up a large amount of everything and digging in like she would at home, she sat silently with her hands clasped in her lap. She avoided eye contact as she hoped someone would begin before her.

With a shrug of his shoulders, Shinu began piling his plate with food. There was more than enough for everyone, and he'd never been shy about his eating habits. Tsatsu quietly went about setting everyones plates before serving himself and sitting down. Pouring a generous glass of wine, he took a drink and smiled. "So, how do you like it?" He asked after a few bites.

Hunter had been lost I thought the whole way to Victoria's house and up until the food was served at quietly took a moderate amount and a small amount of the red wine and took a sip, his inner culinary critic decided to make an appearance, but kept the thoughts to him self and continued eating quietly until his phone started to ring, checking the number he quickly excused himself and walked outside "Hey Jackson what's up?" "Just got you a recruiting job," "really, how many names I got?" "Four and you should know at least one of them, I'll send the list over now." A moment later his phone got the list and his eyes wide ed at the names "Uh, ok I'll get on it soon, later." He said hanging up and walking inside.

Tsatsu's ears perked up at the conversation, but he waited a minute before speaking. The two wolves exchanged a look for a moment, but Shinu returned to his food and ate in silence as his brother took another sip from his wine glass. How best to approach what he'd just overheard? The ebony wolf contemplated the situation and took another look at his guests. Shinu was clearly not well, he probably hadn't eaten in days. Victoria had her own demons to contend with. And there was Aileada to consider. Whatever this recruiting business was, it unnerved him. But he decided to broach the subject carefully. "Hunter? Something troubling you, good sir?"

Hunter looked at Tatsu "Nothing big, I was supposed to leave tomorrow afternoon, and my job wants me here for something it actually involves you four" he said as he took a sip of wine

Aileada scooped some of the food onto her plate, figuring if she was as hungry as her eyes told her she could always go back for seconds to make it seem like she wasn't eating as much as she planned on. Hunter then excused himself, giving the Aileada the distraction to pop some extra pieces of sushi into her mouth. It all amazing, with its mixture of tastes and flavors. Her attention was redrawn to Hunter as entered the room. The redhead almost choked hearing it had to do with them. After a hard swallow she her voice was hoarse and incredulous. "What, why us?"

Hunter sighed "Well I work for a government group call A.R.T.I.F.A.C.T my job is to retrieve and protect ancient relics of power, and to keep the peace between species as well, but I was just given a mission to recruit some people, I'll give three guesses on who they are."

Victoria listens to Hunter, quietly eating her food. She adored pasta, so her plate was made up of mostly the chicken Alfredo. Recruited? Ha. Why would a government organization want to recruit her?

Tsatsu merely sampled a piece of sushi, casually chewing as his mind went to work. "Praytell, why would the government want us? The last time we worked for the govern-" he was cut off by a vicious snarl from Shinu, accompanied by a murderous glare. He gestured for his brother to settle down as he made another attempt. "I suppose my question is this. What do they want from Shinu and I this time?"

Hunter gave a shrug "don't ask me all I know is that your name's are on the list, and if they are, that means you have a talent or something that could help them with containing more relics or keeping the peace, either or" he answered taking another sip of wine "But I'll tell ya this, my pay check usually comes with a comma, sometimes two

Victoria nearly chokes on her food as Hunter mentions how much he got paid. She takes a sip of wine and leans back in her chair. 'Commas are nice,' she thinks. Even with one comma, it would be more than she made in an entire month.
