Fantasy Anything Goes

While it sounded like quite a lot of money, the idea of having a surplus of money didn't appeal to her. Yes you could do whatever you want, but weren't the best things in the ones you worked for? If you didn't work them then what made them so special? Aileada picked up another piece of sushi and placed it in her mouth, thinking the recruitment idea over.

Tsatsu kept his composure as he mulled over the idea. Money had never been of any appeal to him, but what did keep his curiosity was the offer itself. Did his employers truly understand who they were dealing with? Did Hunter? He took a bite of the roasted boar and wiped his lips with a napkin he'd folded in his lap before speaking. "Well, if I may, I speak on mine and my brother's behalf when I say that we must politely decline. The offer is appreciated, but...." He paused for a moment and took a sip of his wine, choosing his words carefully. "But we would not wish to expose ourselves to such business. My brother and I are rather content just as we are."

Hunter pursed his lips when Tatsu declined "Fair enough, but what about you girls?" He asked pouring himself another glass of wine

Victoria looks down at her plate. The offer was tempting, but what would happen if she lost control of herself? She couldn't put people in danger like that. She didn't want to offend Hunter, but she didn't know what she should do. Taking another sip of wine, she looks over at Shinu as if he had an answer for her.

"Wby would they want a human?" Aileada's voice surprised herself. She didn't think she would ask the question aloud, but there it was. "I could understand them wanting you guys, with not only your mythical abilities but your artistic skill, stealth, manipulation. It just doesn't make sense to invite me. And the last thing I'd want to be is someone who was only invited because they didn't want to leave her out like a sister, or girlfriend, or best friend, or whatever." Her voice took an unexpected sad tone towards the end. She didn't truly understand why it bothered her so much, but it did.

Hunter looked at Aileada "Aileada, your selling yourself short, and you truly underestimate a human's potential, I've seen a human take down a griffin once."

Shinu simply looked at Victoria and shook his head. He knew firsthand that deals like this always had a catch, and he had the scars to prove it. Tsatsu twitched his ears at Aileada's response, but said nothing. In her own way, she had talents that were otherworldly, though she didn't yet realize it. He took a sip of his wine and simply waited to see what transpired.

Victoria bites her lip and nods. It was probably better she stayed out of it anyway. She didn't want to get tangled up into anything she couldn't handle on her own and drag someone else into it. She takes another sip of her wine and sets the glass down on the table, then continues eating. "I sure am happy you can cook. Because the most elaborate thing I can make is macaroni and cheese," she says to Shinu.

The red-haired girl stared at her wine glass: full and untouched. "Give me some time to think it over, ok?" She looked over at Hunter with a smile. Aileada then pulled out her phone as if getting a call. "Excuse me for a moment." She smiled at the others before getting up from the table and exiting the house. Once out she slipped her phone back down the side of her boots and began walking. The air had grown colder since they had last been out, but she continued on, humming softly.

Victoria sighs as she watches Aileada leave. "I'm not trying to be rude, Hunter. But this wasn't the best time or place to brings up things like that. This isn't a business meeting. Its just a semi-casual dinner."

Shinu nearly dropped his glass of wine when he heard Victoria speak, but kept his composure and said nothing. Before he could even speak, Tsatsu rose to his feet and left without a word, exiting through the front door with an odd look on his face. He merely shrugged and returned to his food. Although he'd never cared about whether his food was an elegant meal or a can of cold soup, it was helping to heal his throat. As far as the subject at hand was concerned, he had nothing to say on the matter. He'd had his troubles with the government, and he had little interest in working for yet another shadow organization backed by an untold number of countries and private states, money be damned.

Shinu looked up from his plate and gently laid his hand on Victoria's shoulder. He didn't know what to say, but he was going to try anyway. "I'm glad you liked your food. I know it's a bit exotic, but everyone deserves a good meal now and then."

Aileada continued humming softly as she walked down the sidewalk, finally reaching her desired destination. The charred wooden letters from the sign clung for dear life to the wall. The glass had been blown out from the incredible heat; it seemed like there would never be a point in fixing it, something would always be there to tear it down. So she didn't bother trying to struggle with opening the door, but instead walked through the frame. A line of curse words poured from her mouth as a piece of glass that stuck out from the frame caught her sleeve, tearing the fabric as well as the top layer of her skin. She held the wound, feeling warm blood trickle from the opening, as she walked further into the room and then sat among the rubble and ashes.

Tsatsu quietly emerged from the shadows, and sat down beside Aileada. "I figured I'd find you here." He said playfully. "Do you want to talk about it?" He inquired as he conjured his pipe from thin air and took a few puffs. He wasn't entirely sure what was on her mind, but something was surely troubling her, and he intended to get to the root of the matter.

Hunter watched as Shinu and Victoria conversed before stand "I'll take my leave now, and I do apologize for the sudden recruitment attempt." He said as he walked out the door

Shinu simply nodded at Hunter as he slowly rose to his feet and began to clear the table, putting everything away for later. There was no sense in letting good food go to waste. When all was said and done, he sat back down with Victoria and spoke after a long silence. "Well, at least we have plenty of leftovers, right?" He said in a joking tone, trying to lighten the mood.

Victoria sighs and watches Hunter leave. She smiles slightly and finishes her glass of wine. "I'm sorry if I ruined this... I don't know how I can offend three people in three sentences, but obviously I can do it..."

"Oh hush now." He said as he made a face at Victoria. "You did no such a thing." He'd deduced why Tsatsu and Aileada had taken off into the night, but Hunter's departure was something of a mystery. He'd sort out that part later. After a brief moment, Shinu got to his feet and offere the young lady his hand. "I know what'll cheer you up. Let's go for a walk." He said with a gentle smile.

Victoria bites her lip, but takes his hand anyway. The fresh air would probably help her clear her head. "Okay," she says quietly. "But if you're wrong, I get to paint on your face," she teases.

He gave a warm smile as he clasped her hand in his. "Alright. But if I'm right, you jave to dance with me." He said in a playful manner. Come hell or high water, he was going to make the best of the remainder of the evening.

Victoria rolls her eyes and sticks her tongue out at him. "I don't think I can dance very well. But I'm not sure, considering I've never done it."

He smirked as he led her out to the sidewalk and proceeded away from town with a rather content look on his face. "Oh, I think you'll be just fine." He said as he gazed up at the evening stars. Where were Tsatsu and Aileada? It would've been nice if they could've come along too.

Victoria walks closely next to him, looking up at the sky. "I always loved the stars. When I was younger, I wanted to become a star when I died." She smiles at the memory. "I wanted to be right in the middle of the Big Dipper, that way astrologists would have to come up with a new name for it."
