That one guy
"Oh yeah? That was your first time in a fight? You might be a natural at it!"
“Pfft, far from it.”, Cobalt let out a dry, yet amused laugh at Valerie’s comment. “I literally set myself on fire and randomly flayed about.”, he added with a chuckle, mimicking the arm movements he did during his brief bout with the demons earlier. “I guess I am lucky since my fire looks powerful enough to instantly execute weak demons so I could just stay still and let them ram into me and die.”
“... Going to war, huh?”, he repeated, pursing his lips and glancing at the ground. “I guess the idea’s not too far-fetched…” He didn’t add more to that but that thought made him ponder for a few moments. If demons were running about, with arcanists being the only ones able to kill them… He shook his head -he’d need to see the full picture before making assumptions.
He was forcefully ejected from his train of thought when he entered the lounge, freezing and blinking at the sight -the boy had half-expected their little tea party to be accompanied with a few random snacks like biscuits. But he didn’t expect the variety of fairy cakes, puddings and sandwiches to go along with them. “Whoa, that’s… a lot.”, he commented, robotically following Valerie and the others and taking a seat. He couldn’t help but wonder if he took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in a high society tea ceremony -that wouldn’t be too surprising, with how weird the hallways were before class started earlier.
“Seriously…?”, he let out once Jessie came into view, holding an entire food tower filled to the brim with savory items. His hand floated above some of the food, not sure what he wanted to try out first. “Man, you didn’t have to go as far, Jessie; I’m not even sure we’ll be able to eat all of that.”, he said, nodding in appreciation to the chef. “But… thank you!”
Unfortunately, he was afraid his thanks went unnoticed as the conversation immediately shifted to Mariana and the demon. Understandable, considering what happened earlier in class, and Cobalt did want to know what was going on. Although he couldn’t help but worry that the shy Mariana wouldn’t fare well in the spotlight. He opted to stay silent during the exchange, figuring that it’d be more important for him to listen to the ones who actually knew what was happening, though it ultimately didn’t end going far as Mariana barked back and stormed out of the room, leaving an awkward silence in her place. Looks like the pressure imposed onto her from Jessie and Marianne was a bit too much to handle... But again, who wouldn't feel targeted after that?
“Ahh, she ran away…”, Cobalt frowned. “Um, I think we should leave her alone for now? I know it’s ironic since I’d really like a properly-explained context but I don’t think it’s good for her mental if we keep pressing on like this.”
