As everyone begun to "create" as a method of defense against the demon. Fizzy noticed a very important fact

Denton said they couldn't really hurt the demon, yet they could annoy him, slow him down with physical force. Similar to the wolf, yet this one was invisible and could simply destroy you.

Fizzy can't create, he is one of the few that cant create. And that meant one thing...

"Those of us we can't create will have to face the demon directly and keep him busy!" Stated making himself be heard by everyone

What a suicidal plan was this. He looked at the Solomon's ring copy...
Will this be enough?

Kotsu looked at Fizzy incredulously. "Yeah, I kinda got that. Why do you think I'm telling people how I feel about 'em, Fizzy Pop? We're probably gonna die." Kotsu said with a genuine smile on his face, which was probably unnerving. "Hell, but this'll be fun! I'm all pumped up! And I uh, recommend you do the same." Kotsu said, "Tell Denton how much you wanna bed him. Go on." Kotsu laughed heartily. Kotsu turns back to Aria. "Yeah, no problem. I won't be naked this time either when we go to HQ. Thankfully." Kotsu said blushing a deep red. "But I really do look forward you to teaching me about leeches and alternate ways to get blood. Especially given it'll be fresh."

Q thrusted his fist towards kotsu. Head tilted down and his eyes closed, he ignited just his fist. He opened his eyes with a sharp glare and looked at him (classic anime posing type shit). "We will definitely die with an attitude like that. Don't worry. You have me on your side and I have a trump card. My fire magic didn't come without a curse you know." He let out a slight grin.

The twins looked at Aria and tilted their heads as alchemy was compared to cooking. "I... suppose you could put it like that. If cooking had the risk of blowing up, or causing a whole bunch of other things to happen. We've ended up freezing our room... twice because we made a few teeeeeeny missteps in the process." 01 said, his cheeks reddening as he admitted that.

02 rubbed the back of his head as he raised a finger. "But, you can create food using synthesis as well. We created the ration bars that everyone using that particular method. There's other methods of creation or destruction in alchemy... well... 'Destruction' is kind of a bad term... more like... deconstruction. We can get back raw materials from objects, if we have the right equipment and the knowledge to do so." He explained.

"Plus... you can't do alchemy unless you've built a proper pit around the cauldron. It creates something called 'Alchemist's Fire'. The flames won't spread, and it enchants the cauldron to fill, preparing it for proper synthesis. It's handy, so then alchemists can create indoors without having to worry about the flames spreading. I mean, if you didn't have it prepared, then you'll just essentially be heating up whatever you put into the cauldron, instead of actually putting it through synthesis. That's why we needed to make these." 01 said as he showed off their crude rune stones.

Kotsu looked over at Quentin. "Dude, did you hear Denton? This thing destroys curses AND people. Your curse, my curse, it don't mean dick diddly. We're probably screwed. But I appreciate the pep man!" Kotsu gave Quentin a thumbs up. "By the way, thanks for not lighting my room on fire." Kotsu turned to the twins. "Dude, that's amazing. What are those things though?" Kotsu said in regards to the rune stones.

The twins looked over at Kotsu. "These? They're rune stones. Normally a professional alchemist would have them inscribed on a piece of sculpted stone and then made into a proper stone circle around their cauldron. When they've been put in the proper configuration, the alchemist's soul will commune with the Earth and nature to ignite the alchemist's fire beneath the cauldron." 02 explained.

01 gave a little shrug. "It sounds complicated, but in reality, all it takes is a little touch to any of the rune stones and the fire'll ignite, given that the configuration is correct. The cauldron will fill up, and then you're ready to perform synthesis." He said. "Oh, that reminds me, we will need help getting the configuration in place. It can be a bit of a drawn out process, but it's faster with more people." He added, giving 02 a glance as he nodded in agreement.

"Time will be of the essence when we confront the demon." 02 said as he leaned down and began to pack the rune stones away.

Samantha sighed as she looked at her drones. "Denton, since I'm dismantling my personal gear for this, I expect to be reimbursed for the cost of production. These things can't be found in any store. Focusing lenses, anti-grav pads, and heavy-duty small scale batteries are not cheap."

Fizzy didn't pay much attention to Kotsu's reply, at most he raised an eyebrow at the 'fizzy pop' nickname

So he is prone to disobey his commander, doesn't control himself at the battlefield and apparently he is also an idiot, why is Denton keeping him in the game?
Come to think, how did he manage to gather many vampires on his team

"I feel in the obligation to say , I don't expect much from you in he battlefield and I'm already disappointed "

Kotsu bellowed out a hearty laugh. "Funny coming from the guy who couldn't even save his best friend." Kotsu pointed a thumb at Denton. "And the only thing you did was a fire kick. That was it. At least I woulda hauled ass. Face it, scrap metal. If you're gonna take crap, at least back it up. You're the most disappointing one here. I saved our commander in mid air, and patched him up while you were to busy trying to imitate Street Fighter." He turned back to the twins. "Yeah, sure. I'll help you guys." Kotsu returned with a genuine smile.

"Guys, get your shit together! Demonics feed on negativity, find something to be happy about" Sam strapped the power cell she'd carried since the queen onto her back. Connecting a wire or so, her knuckles sparked and started glowing.

"Alright, that works," she muttered. She pulled a gun from the bike and sat down. "So, we've got three cursed immortals, a telepath, a couple mages, and a pair of cripples. How are we supposed to beat this thing with positivity? We're not exactly the Care Bears."

Kotsu smiled at Sam. "Yeah yeah, I'll stop takin' the bait from him. But in all actuality, I believe in us!" Kotsu said raising his fist in the air. "We've beat impossible odds before, and you gave me this cool new upgrade!" Kotsu said, referring to The Whip It by extending the blades in his whips. "That's still nice..." Kotsu said admiring the handywork. "You're a freakin' genius! With you, the twins, Owl, hell, even Denton and Morgan, I'm sure us knuckleheads," Kotsu said in regards to himself, Q, Aria, Fizzy, and Clayton. "can take down anything!" Kotsu said, smiling widely. "Man, I'm fired up! I can't wait to be strong enough to take one of these things solo!"

The twins nodded at Kotsu's comment. "Thank you, Kotsu." They said in unison. As Sam was talking, 01 had gotten the marker out again. As Sam was talking, the twins tilted their head. "You know, you don't sound that positive yourself. We can do this." 01 said.

The two then walked up to Kotsu and then grabbed his left hand, twisting it so then it was laying face up. 01 put his left hand next to his, and then 02 put in his right hand. "Please stay still." 01 said as he began to write down a circle of runes on half of Kotsu's hand, and then his own, and then handed off the marker to 02 for him to finish off the circles of runes on his hand and then Kotsu's hand. "We'll each be taking a third of the runes. 02 will be on your left, I will be on your right when we begin this. Go from left to right." He said as he reached into their bag and began to pull out the rune stones.

02 sorted out each set and handed each person their own set of runes, double and triple checking that he'd given everyone the correct set. "Alright, I think that's everything. As soon as we get there, we have to set up the cauldron right away." 02 explained as he slipped the stones into his belt pouch.

Rain came to a stop. The mercenaries slowly compiled their creations. Everything from weaponry to artistry to alchemy. Denton walked several feet away from the group began to poor the lamb's blood on the ground. He made a symbol of it. One similar to that of seal sigil on the rings.

And then nothing.

The group stood in a circle, their creations around them. Joe's cauldron bubbled and smoked. Denton had been the one to suggest a circle. A concentrated area where their items could provide an actual level of protection. Denton didn't know how much exactly, but hopefully enough to get the job done.

The talking finally settled when Denton pulled a small black notebook from his back pocket. It had been something Maniacles provided when he briefed them on the mission...told them that his team would going toe to toe with Andras. The book didn't dog shit in the grand scheme of things. It would however make sure Andras found them, put them on the demon's radar.

"This spell I'm about to cast will be my way of issuing an open challenge to Andras. It'll bring him here. Once we have him in the trap." Denton gestured at the large circle made from lamb's blood. "He'll be under my dominion. We'll have won. Do not leave the circle of creativity."

The circle of creativity?

Heh.

We sound like a group of hippies, Denton thought.

The ghost mage, Denton Fisher, began reading from the book. A strange slew of unrecognizable and dead words from long forgotten languages. Denton's voice seemed to change as he spoke them. It became deeper, inhuman. The pages glowed for a moment before going back to their natural state. Denton closed the book, spit on the ground, and wiped sweat from his brow. He looked around.

"Well, that was a lot of dramatics for nothing," he said.

"Maybe you read it wrong?" Morgan suggested.

Denton shook his head, scanning the area with narrowed eyes. "No. When spells go wrong the worst that happens is either it backfiring somehow or it simply doesn't work. No one leave the circle. Andras is a destroyer, but no demon is completely stupid."

Morgan began to flood magical energy into the trap. It was made from blood after all. As far she was concerned it could function as both trap and weapon. An edge for the team to exploit, a way to control the battlefield.

Denton sucked in a breath. The grass in between two rows of grape trees became compressed, crushed into the Earth, miniature two toed craters. Each Grape tree on the left side was knocked over one at a time, as if being blasted by an overly strong gust of wind, and the trees on the right all died. No fuss, no warning, no farewells. One second they were alive and the next they were rotted husks. The footsteps stopped. Gone. Denton considered sending a ghost out for recon, but held back his hand. It wouldn't do any good anyway. Not against Andras. The team spun around, their eyes, looking in all directions. BOOM! A cracked multicolored forcefield like aura lit up around them all, around their circle. The protection of creation. It worked. Denton grinned. Happy to be right. However, the protection it provided had already been damaged.

The forcefield lit up again as the invisible force, Andras, attacked it. What cracks were doubled, hundreds of lines running in all directions.

"Focus," Denton said. "Focus on the times you were creative. Think of them. Don't stop being creation.Do whatever it takes."

Morgan, who's eyes were wide with panic, flicked open a switch blade and began drawing a poor excuse for a cat. It may not have been fueled by a passion for the arts, but it was fueled by the desire not to be wiped off the planet. The rainbow forcefield around the team began to heal itself, only slightly, some cracks coming back together, as if they'd never been there at all.

Andras hit again, vicious, uncontrolled, and clearly pissed off. The damage from before came back double fold on the forcefield, the ground shook, and the demon roared. A roar which signaled the end, the absence of what could be, the eternal night. The end.

The twins had ran back one last time to get enough water for what they'd need to do. When they were setting up the circle, 01 and 02 had finished their sections of the circle quite quickly, and helped Kotsu finish his part, letting him slide the last rune stone in. Thankfully for the twins, their hastily crafted rune stones had worked. A flame appeared beneath the cauldron as it filled with a vibrant green liquid. The two began to prepare the plants they'd gathered for synthesis. They knew they'd have very little time between creations to prepare the next one, so they would have to act quickly. The two stood on either side of the cauldron as the ritual began. "Think happy, creative thoughts." The two chimed, forcing smiles.

As the barrier was attacked, the two quickly added two flowers to the cauldron. It immediately lit up as the two began to stir, pausing only a few times to allow the concoction to boil and bubble. They focused their minds on their memories of synthesis. Of getting the cauldron for the first time, watching as it filled up on its own, like magic. Getting their first set of alchemy books. Testing out recipe after recipe, pulling things out of the cauldron that shouldn't have been inside of it, being filled with a sense of wonder as they actually created something using synthesis. The cauldron's contents began to slowly glow brighter and brighter as the recipe began to reach its apex.

Tank repairs, Halo's hard drive, ninth grade robotics, Pteranodon, hovercraft, Directed Energy Hover Drones, Splatter Knuckles, Cyber Angel, Kotsu's whips, say what you want about Sam being cold or difficult, she made stuff for a living.

"Looks like we can't shoot our way out of this one, huh?", she said, cracking a half-hearted smirk.

Aria

Regarding Aria's preparation to face off Andras, she already piled up some wooden furnitures and rocks in front of her. The satyr workers protested when Aria broke their chairs and tables into pieces but nothing they can do about that.

"Focus on the times you were creative. Think of them. Don't stop being creation. Do whatever it takes." Denton said.

"Allright." Aria picked up a piece of the table's leg. She then grew her nails to be sharp enough to be used as carving knifes.

A lot of scratching noises. Wooden dust from the former furniture surrounded Aria as she vigorously carve the wood with her barehand. It didn't take long for her to finish her first creation: A sculpture of Scarlet the leech. It's a simple one, but it looks good. She put it down on the ground and started her next carving. Soon, wooden figurines of all members of the team were done.

Owl shuts her eyes. "Okat think creation, CREATION!"

Sleeping with Kotsu

"Now is not the time!" She yells at her own mind then grabs her lap top opens it and starts coding for a video game, this was creative and she did right infront of the demon so he could see her designing the digital world. Infact she even starts telling him about it.

"In the world that I created entire planet is flat, and there are these flying creatures called windseers that zip around with out wings, and there are elves and mers and fairies. And across the sea the people worship a giant fish God named Bahamut. See look I'll draw the main characters for you, one of them is blue!"

She begins to sketch on her tablet.

"I'm embarrassed to do this, but... It's my last happy memory of them..." Kotsu retracted the blades on his whips and stared down at the ground, closing his eyes. Kotsu's body wasn't shaking out of excitement this time around. In fact, he was very still and quiet. Kotsu slowly began to raise his arms as if he weren't himself and summoned his whips at their regular length. He thought of the time that he had danced with his younger siblings and had taught them how to ribbon dance. A smile cracked on his face while his eyes were closed as he began to slowly tune out the world and dance gracefully with his whips circling his body like ribbons. He would spin around the circle, using his hyper senses to avoid bumping into anybody or interrupt their actions, even making sure not to hit them with his whips. He danced while thinking of their smiling faces. Their stumbling with each movement. He danced thinking about each giggle they made at him which only encouraged his performance until they were silent with awe. His smile grew wider as he remembered their faces again, and remembered himself 50 years ago, playing with them with simple card games as well.

Kotsu's face started to streak with tears of joy as his movements started to become more hypnotic and captivating. His steps becoming more elegant with each leap, his twirls were becoming more alluring as if nothing else had mattered. Quite frankly, nothing else did at this point. He could finally remember his family again without the guilt he felt. His mind felt lighter than it ever had as he continued to make his way around the circle of lamb's blood with wider leaps. His caution was still there as his body moved on its own, careful not to get in the way of anybody still. Or was it because he didn't want anybody to get in his way? Kotsu couldn't care. With each movement becoming more hypnotic and entrancing, Kotsu felt his body moving in fluidity on it's own. Nothing mattered in this moment. He was busy dancing for his brothers and sisters.

Fizzy stood there, arms crossed as he watched everyone doing their best efforts in creating.
Yet he knew, he studied it before the mission. All that was inorganic, not really alive... if he wanted to really scare Andras, he needed something more vivid...

He came prepared of course, however the target was either one of the three. Kotsu seemed violent and his dance was dangerous, a drunkard vampire as Clayton... maybe, yet he didn't knew the full scope of his abilities. Then there was Aria... docile, trustful, also holding a big source of power according to files.

Fizzy got close to the vampire

"Aria, I need your help. Hold on to this" he said as he gave her a bloodpack

"Hm?" Aria stopped her sculpting and looked at the bloodpack in Fizzy's hand. She took it and hold it as he asked.

"What is this for?"

Fizzy's face became serious...
He had one arm behind his back, something was shining.

"You'll want to drink that, and forgive me for this"

With a quick motion he pulled his energy blade and slashed through Aria's wrist, completely separating it from the rest of her arm. It was probably as painful as it looked like, but vampires were resilient beings.

"Grow, create a new one, with blood, that's a living creation! Andras a force of destruction will surely feel that sharper!"

He readied again his blade and forcefully grabbed Aria's handless arm holding it firmly

"And then we'll do it again!"

Aria stared down at her severed hand. She picked it up and examined the inside. It's true that she could regenerate herself easily, given the time. But...

"Isn't this also an act of destruction?" She wasn't sure if this method would work.

It's all about intention. Alucard's words echoed in her mind.

"Hurry up!" ordered Fizzy, "drink that blood and grow it again! We're losing time here!"

"this one will be for scarlet." Aria put the bloodpack inside her waist bag and pulled her leech instead. She bite them gently on the stomach and sucks the blood inside. The leech wriggled a bit before they turned docile, as if they knew that its their turn to feed her.

Aria crushed her severed hand with her healthy hand, the blood was absorbed into her skin. By the time she finished absorbing the blood, her hand had regrown.

"I amph rveadi." She said. The leech on her mouth made her a bit hard to speak.

"Good!" Exclaimed Fizzy Roy, "That's living creation!"
He raised his energy blade

"AGAIN!" And slashed it down!

Aria repeated the process. She picked up her hand, crush it, absorb the blood then grew another one. They repeat the process several more times.

"I sthill nhot hundevrstand why thiss is crheationsts." She muttered to herself.

Like I said, it's all about intention. Just think of it like cooking. You kill chicken to make delicious fried chicken.

"I shee. So it's bhetther if the reshult havve mhore vualue, right?" The next time Aria tried to regrown her hand. She stopped for a brief moment to focus her mind.

More value... more value... From the end of her slashed hand. She grew another hand, this time it had six fingers on it.

Fizzy continued slashing and slashing, blood spurted, more hands grew, both as fast as they could

I hope this is working, otherwise, Kotsu's gonna rip me apart for sure

The shield healed and hardened. Andras attacking.

Denton breathed out a heavy sigh of relief. None of them had actually gotten physical with the demon, but watching the barrier crack and reform was like a gut punch from a professional boxer. No time to waste while there was a lapse Andras.

Time to assume the defensive.

"Morgan," Denton said.

"Right," She replied.

The blood mage tapped into the blood trap. It glowed for a moment before red tendrils spewed forth from it, four in total. One one of the tendrils snagged Andra's arm, the next two his legs. The mercenaries watched in amazement as the ropes seemed to begin to pull the creature closer to the circle. Andras fought back, very obviously thrashing, attempting to break his restraints. The final tendril snaked towards the demon.

Got you, Denton thought. And they did. Another victory for Maniacles. His heart was beating fast and wild, adrenaline burning through his veins. No excitement, though. Not here. The evil this thing radiated was to intense to be considered anything close to fun.

Andras stopped struggling.

Denton smiled.

***

Andras pulled with all his might. No luck. He attempted to burn or rot away the binds. No avail. The mortals had prepared. No issue. The demon bent over as much as it could manage, touching one razor sharp fingernail to the ground directly leading to the circle of humans.

It vanished.

The distance.

Annihilated in an instant.

The circle, the people, their creations were in front of him now. Andras eyed their protection, searching for a weakness. Seek and destroy. End the barrier so he could end them. Andras repeated the trick, tapping the ground again. A large tree from nearly a yard away appeared in the blink of an eye in front of him, Andras gripped the oak, nails sinking into the wood. Its top half tore free.

Andras swung it like a baseball bat the mercenaries.

***

An invisible hand guided a tree at the circle. The team worked double time manning the defense. Denton's eyes widened. "No wait it -"

The tree passed through the barrier. It struck home. Owl, Morgan, Aria, and Kotsu were launched out of the circle. Bones were broken, teeth knocked out, joints dislocated. The tree had sent the five of them nearly ten feet away.Morgan's tendril attack broke. Denton cursed, running after them, summoning several ghosts in an attempt to distract the demon. The majority of the barrier collapsed.

Everyone.

All of them.

Were up shit creek without a paddle.

"Son of a- *whistle*" Sam called her bike and hopped on. "Hey, you're so ugly your mom made you invisible so she wouldn't vomit in your presence!" Taking aim and firing to get the demon's attention, the bike hopped and flew into the air, hopefully just far enough out of reach the beast couldn't grab her, but close enough she was a nuisance to be dealt with.

It took a time for Fizzy to realize what happened.
He looked at the his hand which was holding Aria's arm.... there was the arm, but there was no Aria...

He tried to stand but... though luck, half of his left leg was missing.

Damn Denton, I told you this was a terrible plan

Owl landed on her arm wrong and something broke, she wasn't sure. She cries out in agony but for a moment. Recovering she sits up staggered and pulls out a flash of the hardest drink she could get her hands on. Greedily she downs it feeling it's empowering her, she stands up.

"Keep creating I'll buy us time." She attacks it's mind with magic casting stupefy on the demonic thing. Demon or not, all sentient things had minds, and minds were her domain.

Kotsu was disoriented as he slowly stood up to his feet, seeing his comrades around him knocked down and injured. Kotsu looked at Owl, Aria, and Morgan knocked into the water, blood coming out of their bodies. He thought the worst. "No... No... NO!!!!!" Kotsu let out a hellish scream at the top of his lungs, blood gushing from his mouth from when his teeth had been knocked out. The teeth started to regrow and elongate as his eyes turned red. He summoned his whips and picked up the tree that was in the water with them and whipped it at the Andras, carrying himself with the tree. "I TRIED IT YOUR WAY, DENTON! FUCK YOU AND FUCK THIS THING!" Kotsu tackled the Andras after the tree hit or missed it's target. He started sinking his teeth into the beasts body and wrapping one whip around it's neck, and the other wrapping around both of it's wings, summoning the blades in his whips to serrate the beasts head and wings while tearing into it.

Andras took lazy swipes at Sam. The demon liked playing, toying with his prey. Then something hit him. Confusion. He tested his footing, stumbled, unsure of who or where to strike next. Then one of the mortals hit him.

It sunk its teeth into his flesh.

Andras did not enjoy confusion. Simplicity was the way of his kind. They each had their purpose. Any thoughts not relating to that purpose could safely be discarded and filed away in some never to be accessed file.

No he did not know direction wouldn't stop him from doing what he wanted.

So the demon did what he was made to do. One singular goal. Destroy. Andras exploded into a ball of fire. Kotsu caught fire instantly, third degree burns, charring his skin black. Andras stopped. The vampire kept fighting. Andras grabbed Kotsu with one strong hand, tearing the vampire off his body. Two demonic fingers poked through Kotsu's eyeballs with a 'squish' sound. Andras hooked his fingers inside Kotsu's eye sockets. The demon swung the vampire head first into the ground like a cartoon mallet, cracking Kotsu's blackened skull and neck. Andras threw him several feet away in a spinning motion. Kotsu crashed behind Owl in a heap of gore and smoke.

Ghosts appeared, surrounding Andras.

Denton.

The demon lashed out, swinging in all directions.

Each spirit in his way vanished, ripped away from the world. Andras barreled through them, looking for footing, and finding none of it. He fell over, rolled to his feet, and kept on charging.
