There are only so many pods in that garage, but there maybe pods else were, perphaps prototype pods in a lab somewhere.

Maybe they are using a very powerful owl clone? Or another mental mage to transport them in there.

Or maybe they eneter the garage as security for our comatose group and get their minds pulled in by Owl who in the real world is mentally growing more powerful.
