Realistic or Modern Age of Vikings (Always Accepting!)

The two men watched with shock as he took out their third men. As soon as he said "run", the two men took of and ran, quickly dissapearing, as was the man that carried Azura, all three were nowhere in sight.

Aron cursed even more under his sight as he looked to the Viking dying on the floor. With a quick motion, he brought the metal butt of his weapon down on the back of his head and broke through, swiftly ending the man's life in the process. He was not about to give up in his chase, as he never did. He looked back to the dirt that the Viking had run under, using his embrained ability to track to follow with a jog, taking note of any surroundings or signs of they way they went. Blood, footprints, or any other indicator of direction kept under his gaze as he followed. He was not about to give up this easy, especially now that the ordeal cost a man's life. He needed to make sure there was some good out of it.

Agnar moved a little closer to Astrid "Magnus is a great warrior" He replied, agreeing with her. He waited for Astrid to continue as he looked back into her eyes, it sounded like she had made her choice. (Short post, sorry)

@Sharkiee

Her heart raced as she felt his breath against her skin, "may... I..." she stuttered nervously, her eyes still flicking from his eyes to his lips. She pressed her thumb on his chin, tilting his face down towards her. She moved her hand to brush a fallen lock of hair out of his face, "I've never done this before" she blushed.

@JacobLoL

"I've never done this before" Astrid blushed as she brushed a fallen lock of hair out his face. Agnar brought his hand up, touching her cheek as he leant in closer and kissed her. It looked like the chase had finally ended although he knew that Magnus would not be happy at all.

@Sharkiee

She pushed herself closer, enjoying the feel of his lips. The kiss seemed to last forever, she finally pull herself back searching his eyes before speaking again, "I will tell Magnus myself, I do not wish him to find out the hard way" she glanced behind her to see who else was around. She turned back to him, her hands dropped down from his neck where the had rested during the kiss, "how is the planning going?" the murmers of the men finally bring her back into reality, she linked her fingers with his.

@JacobLoL

Agnar didnt want the kiss to end and it seemed to last a while before Astrid finally pulled herself bacck, looking into his eyes "I will tell Magnus myself, I do not wish him to find out the hard way" She spoke, Agnar nodded in response. "I've sent spies to scout how many men this Earl has and our warriors are still coming in from the countryside" He replied to Astrid when she asked how the planning was going.

@Sharkiee

Astrid rested her head on his chest, "I don't want you to go" she closed her eyes, something made her feel like something bad would happen, "is this war necessary?" she tilter her head to look at him, she closed her eyes again, feeling his warmth on her cheek. "You should return to your men Agnar" she mumbled, she wanted to stay with him, but he had guests and a war to plan.

@JacobLoL

Opening his eyes to a gloomy room in which only a wisp of smoke escaped his small fireplace, Magnus yawned. He must've fallen asleep on the floor. The man sighed, getting to his feet. His back felt like the muscle had been tied in knots, probably because he slept on his floor all night. Magnus rubbed his eyes before opening his door, today was overcast, and dawn just barely pierced the horizon. The clouds were fat and dark as the drifted far above him. Maybe it would rain today he thought, standing in his doorframe.

Agnar, just nodded, in truth the war wasnt really a necessary war, more of a power play by Agnar to gain more power. Earl Syvl had refused to join in on the war but was still willing to raid with Agnar afterwards. "I'll see you tomorrow" He said to Astrid, slowly letting go of her hands as he walked back into the great hall.

Agnar spent another half an hour planning with his men before dismisssing them. The next day would be a busy one

(Timeskip to morning)

@Sharkiee

Astrid woke suddenly, she dreamt of a war, something was wrong about this upcoming battle, but the gods were teasing her with dreams. She sat up in her bed, the fur that she slept under slipping down around her waist. She had yet to tell her father of her news, her stomach dropped remembering Magnus, "why must Odin test me like this" she mumbled holding the bridge of her nose.

She joined her father at the table, a small smile on her face, "Good morning father" she smiled, kissing him on the forehead, he grunted through a mouthful of porridge. She watched him silently, "you shouldn't stare" he finally spoke, "what is that smile about?" he asked raising a bushy eyebrow at her. She shrugged, "I am I not allowed to smile?" her grin getting wider. She got up from the table to serve herself breakfast, humming to herself.

Astrid changed into some fresh clothes, "we will talk about it later father" she called as she left the little cottage. She was greeted by the chickens that nested around the front garden, they scattered as she walked through the group of them, heading towards Magnus' house.

@John Raptorfist

Still standing in his doorway, Magnus soon saw Astrid making her way down from the towns outskirts. It looked as though she needed to talk to him about something. Magnus shifted with uncertainty. Was Astrid here to reject him? Or was she here lift him up to Valhalla like a glorious Valkyrie? Keeping his face hard, Magnus dipped his head in a nod. "Mornin' Astrid." The man said, taking a sip of water from a flask made of seal leather. "It looks as though you've made your choice."

The journey to the northern lands were filled with trials and tribulations , without much success since most places they visited the populace treated them with distrust and suspicion clinging to their fallen gods not realizing the hell that awaited them , it was due to this slow pace that the head of the order decided to divide the brothers into thee parties headed by ones who had shown their devotion to god , Pierre was selected as the head of the third party and tasked to go north to the land they called Norge and try to convert as many as possible.

It had been 6 weeks since they parted from their brothers and no word has been received from either of the two parties leading them to fear for the worst , many of the brothers were tired off what seemed like endless walking towards the closest village of Egersund , so pierre decided that they should make camp by the bank of a river and gather what strength they could. Ever a reclusive man Pierre took to prayer as the other monks rested .

"gloria patri , et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula ..... "

"Brother Pierre !!!! , Brother Pierre !!! , we have spotted a settlement"

Pierre was relived for they had found a settlement but at the same time angered for his prayer had been cut short , he and his party made way to this settlement just a few miles from where they had made camp with mixed feelings of fear and anticipation among his brothers .

As they reach the entrance to the village , the populous gather around the strange men wearing black robes with shaved heads , Pierre clears his throat and in as loud a voice he could muster bellowed .

"We come bearing gifts and in the name of peace !!! On behalf of the Kingdom of East Francia and the Pope in Rome himself !!!"

To the great Earl Agnar,

I was once a merchant of some importance in Jutland, there I helped fund a great war between the Danes and the monstrous Roman Emperor to the south. I still remain quite wealthy and have three knarrs and a longship at my disposal. My longship is full of Varangians, legendary for their abilities as fighters, I hope that you can bring them the much needed battles they so yearn for. All I ask for in return for aiding you, is some small place in your growing court. My fleet is admittedly not with me at the moment, they are currently in Visby, but they’ll bring back some tapestries from Byzantium that might fit to your liking. If you accept, I promise to serve you well and for the rest of my days.

Your most grateful ally,

Oleg

Azura woke up to a painful throbbing I'm her head, memories of the night before quickly resurfaced, safe tried to sit up but found herself unable too, Azura took in her surroundings, she was tied to a headboard of a bed with her wrist, very tightly to the point it hurt. It looked to be a home she was in, a fire place lit the room, a gag bound her mouth. And three very pissed a off looking men surrounded her.

"It's about time, it took all bloody night for you to wake up." He said as he took out an arrow. Azura shifted uncomfortably in the bed, trying to back away. "You shot my brother with an arrow right?" He sneered, coming closer and stabbing an arrow straight into her thigh. Azura screamed into her gag with a cry of pain.

(Sorry so short, in class)

Astrid face was set in a hard line, she met magnus at his front door where he greeted her. She embraced him rather forcefully, shoving her head into his chest, "the gods are cruel" she muttered into the fabric of his shirt. She felt sick, her eyes welled up and she began to sob.

She lifted her head to look at his face, "I beg you Magnus, do not hate me or Agnar" she spoke through the sobs.

A loud voice was heard from the village that bellowed over the clearing toward Magnus' farm, she turned squinting to see into the distances the party of men wearing black robes. A sudden shiver of fear ran down her back, making the hair on the back of her neck rise, what did these people want.

Looking around him Pierre saw children playing and women doing household chores as the men went off to gather food , back in francia these heathens were portrayed as the devils lakeys but now that he was here they seemed more .... civil , lacking only the grace of God .

"Please , take us to your earl so that we may share our gifts and offerings"

She shifted slightly, moving back from the embrace with Magnus, "you know whom I've chose" she spoke quietly to him, he had had no time to reply to her as they were interrupted by the party of robes. She turned her attention to the strange people "what brings you here? What makes you think the Earl has time for a traveling party of strangers?" Her voice sounded rude, her eyes flickered from one face to another in the small group of men, finally her eyes stilled glaring into Pierre's.

Aron made continued to do the tracking the best he could, checking in house after house as he cursed and sputtered under his breath. He was practically sprinting between building at this point, before finally coming to a halt as he heard words to where he had tracked. He dropped to a knee briefly in front of the door. A few drops of fresh blood stained the floor beneath him. He let out a sigh as he heard the muffled scream come from inside, reaching behind him and grabbing the handle of his large weapon. He then proceeded to step back, before going to charge through the door. The transition between the outside and the Viking's hearth seemed instantaneous. Time seemed to almost slow for him as he charged the men, raising up his weapon as the other Vikings unsheathed blade and axe. He swung the giant axe at the neck of the archer, sweeping through and nearly decapitating him, time seeming to come back to reality after this. He huffed a few breaths as he looked at the Viking men.

This time, he was not going to be as merciful, not with what they had planned. His weapon came in a short wave as the blades swung at him, parrying one off to the side and dodging the other with obvious high trained skill. Moving off of his parry, he quickly thrusted the head of the weapon to the other Viking's gut, ripping it out violently as he spun back to the other with a wide swing. This Viking had sense to him, barely managing to avoid Aron's attack as he ran for the door, tripping over himself as he sprinted away from the scene. Aron turned back to the woman as he held his bardiche to his side, his body and weapon covered in blood. The first thing he did was step forward and quickly untie her gag, biting hard on his cheek as he saw the arrow in her leg. "We need to get this treated.." He mumbled, quickly turning to shut the doors behind him ".. Are you alright?" He asked as he turned back to her, the bloodier side of his face showing.

(Reference for Aron's weapon, some people just thought it was a giant honk of metal at the end of a stick.. which in a sense it is. sh)

The men had just hardly peirced her skin with another arrow in her other thigh, when the door suddenly busted open, Azura watched in shock as Aron started slaughtering the three men left and right. Although one arrow was barely in her thought, the other was halfway submerged in her skin. She looked up amazed "How did you find me?!" She said somewhat strained from the pain.

"The slav?" Agnar sat on the Earl's throne as the morning sun shone into the great hall "Yes, he attacked us for no reason!" The vikings man exclaimed. Agnar brushed his hand over his face, looking around at the dozen or so men standing in the hall, all with their weapons ready, there was only one punishment for killing warriors of the Earl, and that was death. "Get my swords" He commanded one of his men who quickly disappeared into the Earl's room, appearing a few moments later with his twin swords. Agnar took the swords from the man, leading his men out of the hall, in search for the slav.

As Agnar walked toward the town centre, with a dozen men at his back a man ran towards him, the warriors stepped forward ready to attack. "I bring a message for you, Earl" The man spoke. Agnar looked at him for a moment before sheathing one of his swords and taking the letter. Reading it, the letter looked to be an offer of allegiance from a man called Oleg. Agnar put the letter in one of his pockets before continuing on his way.

In the distance Agnar spotted Astrid and a group of strange men, the populace of Egersund seemed to be gathering around them.

Pierre didn't like the woman's tone , oddly she spoke with authority something that was hard for a woman to posses in his part of the world . The man next to her well , he brought fear into his heart , he was the kind of person the stories talked about , the stories that mothers told their children so that they would behave . "If you don't listen , the north men will come and take you to the depths of hell" his mother used to always say to him , of course he never paid heed until today .

Visibly a bit shaken , Pierre continued

"We come on behalf of the King of East Francia , with the blessings of his holiness the pope . "

Aron grumbled as he went over toward her, glancing at the leg wound with a frown, glancing up at the windows as he saw quite the events happening in the distance. The group of Godly men stood while he saw Agnar with his men, letting out a few shaky breaths before turned back to her. "Doesn't matter." He whispered to her, pulling out a knife to cut open bindings at her feet, then her wrists shortly afterward. He knew he had little time before they would be lead to the house, and despite if his story rang true, he was a Slav. He pulled a small cloth from his side as he held it out to her, "Keep this on your leg. We can't let your blood lead them to us." He then proceeded to crouch down and suddenly lift her into a cradle, knowing she could not walk in her position, his large arms did not have much of an issue carrying the woman. He was soon out the door, shutting it silently behind him as he began to go through the town, cutting random corners as he moved as subtle as he could while trying to still escape. This would be tricky.

She tilted her head as he spoke, this man sounded crazy, "King?" her voice a little calmer. She nodded finally agreeing to take the men to the Earl. She walked quickly, clearing the gap between them and Agnar. She smiled as she came closer to Agnar, still recalling the events from the night before, "Agnar, these men speak of a King and come with gifts" she spoke formally to him, her eyes not leaving his face til she had finsihed. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she noticed him and the rather large party behind him, "what is going on?" she frowned, the morning had gotten so busy already, she had barely even eaten.
