Realistic or Modern Age of Vikings (Always Accepting!)

Oleg landed on the shore surrounded by two guards. He was wearing a bright red colored reindeer leather with some slightly simpler cow leather pantaloons. They gathered their things from the boat they chartered and began walking through the small town. A sack of gold coins from Denmark clinging as they walked. People japed and some jeered at the odd looking foreigners armed to the teeth. Still, he paid them no mind as he walked up to the home of the Earl demanding entrance to meet with the man.

Agnar turned to face Astrid and the party of robed men as they approached him. Agnar didnt smile back at Astrid as murder of two of his men had not put him in a very good mood, he moved closer to Astrid before he spoke, almost whispering to her in a grave tone "The slav has murdered two of my men". He placed his hand in Astrid's before turning to the robedmen, soon it would be public knowledge that he intended to marry her. He waited for the robed men to explain themselves.

Oleg was denied entrance to the great hall by two axe wielding guards and told that the Earl was currently in the centre of town.

The Jarl was like what he had expected , brutish , large with strange tattoo's and scraggly hair . At the same time he couldn't help but notice this guards who had unsheathed their swords ready to strike down any man , Pierre had heard that monasteries had been attacked in England by these barbarians killing the defenseless monks and taking the property of the church , if this were indeed true then what would stop them from cutting down a few more monks merely for sadistic pleasure , Pierre paused and told himself that these thoughts were doing nobody any good , he had to gather his thoughts and speak.

"My Lord , we come on behalf of the king of East Francia and of his holiness the pope , bearing gifts as an extension of friendship .

"All we ask is that you let us stay at you village let us learn of you people , and we hope in turn you learn of ours"

"Please as a token of friendship , take this the finest of wines straight from the great city of Paris"

One of the other monks hands the king the wine .

“I told you something was off.” Laughed one of the Varangians, “your mercantilness.”

“Well we should go and find the Earl. Don’t mention this to Karl.” Said Oleg as the two Varangians had their fun.

It turns out the people had left their houses for a reason, some street brawl between some woman and a few dead men. It all felt trivial to Oleg. At this point, the merchant could only hope that his ships would return to him soon, he missed the open waves. He wandered back down to the streets of the small town. As he found them he knew instantly that the Earl was busy, a woman stood there everyone was waiting for somebody to explain themselves. They wanted a break to the silence.

“I see you’re busy. I’ll wait here for you my liege.” Oleg said to the Earl as he waded through the men. “If you need two axes I have men here to help you.”

"I'm a hired guard not a slave." Said Eric the happy Varangian.

Astrid stood at Agnar's side, her stare not moving from Pierre, "What exactly can one learn from you?" she asked, her curiousity getting the best of her, her eyes scanned the older man, before turning to Agnar, "do you trust this?" her eyes searched his face, she could see and feel the tension off him. Astrid finally came to terms with her new role, "Agnar, let me take our guests to the hall, you have business you must tend to" She straightened herself looking back to Pierre, "Please, follow me and enlighten me, knowlegde is something I crave for" She smiled.

"We beg our leave my lord . " said Pierre as the Lady escorted the monks to the hall to , laden with animal pelts , heads and strange religious symbolism , the whole place was a bit unsettling to him , but he gathered his thoughts.

"My lady , the brothers in my company are very tired after our long journey , if you could provide us with some water and some food we would be very great full "

"And in the mean time we may speak more about my people and my mission in these lands"

Azura weakly held into the cloth as she was carried out of the home, each of her thighs were bleeding abd she struggled to keep the cloth over it, her vision was blurry from the enormous pain she was experiencing, she let her head roll to the side, resting, her eyes couldn't help but well with tears from the pain. "Where are we going?" Azura said weakly.

Aron muttered back to her as he continued to make false evidence, purposefully knocking over a torch or kick dirt off in a direction to make it seem he would have cut a corner as he moved through the village, keeping careful in the dawn light. It would not be long until the streets were crowded and his position would be given away. ".. My camp. If they find me, they'll kill me. And I'm not leaving you here." He continued to move through the town, the Godly men had given him a larger window of time to make it to the woods as they distracted the Earl. A thought ran through his mind at the coincidence, grinning for a short moment as they neared the edge of the woods. He only took a moment to glance back at the village behind him from behind a tree, seeing the men go fro the house he was last seen. He quickly tried to blend in with the brush of the forest as he went deeper in, being careful with each step of the way. The chase wasn't over yet.

Astrid stepped in to the large hall, a fire was already prepped in the middle, giving off a nice warmth. "please make yourself comfortable"she gestured to the tables clustered not far from the hearth. Turning she headed towards the slave quarters, instructing them to prepare some meats and bread for the monks. She returned to the monks, a woman following behind her with the water they had requested, serving up a mug for each of the party members, before hurrying away to bring the water. Astrid stood, her back to the fire, watching the strange men, "The food will be served soon" she spoke calmly to them.

Agnar nodded as Astrid led the strange robed foreigners up to the Great hall. "Find the slav!" He yelled to his men and they quickly dispersed, searching the town. He then turned the other man who had arrived, taking a few steps towards him and his heavily armed guards "Oleg?" He asked curiously, guessing who the man was.

@Elliot Bailes

“Ah hello my liege, my name is Oleg. I have been forced to leave my home land of Jutland after a long and protracted campaign against Emperor Louis. I ask that you take me in, I own four knarr and a longship all in my merchant fleet. I also shall bring you the entirety of my next haul, hundreds of Byzantine tapestries, dozens of steel blades, and of course an entire crew of Varangians. I would pledge all of those to you if you just give me a place in your court.” Oleg knelt before Agnar, he unsheathed an old familial and presented it to him. “I know this is more Christian, but it’s a strong gesture of power so I hoped that you might still take to it.”

Sorry about the massive space) Magnus was surprised by Astrid's embrace, not knowing what to do for a moment before he returned the hug. It didn't feel warm, or loving in any way. Just...just something for sympathy. She had chose Agnar. The man's heart sank, he knew this would happen, but he didn't realize he'd feel this awful. Astrid's words were true, the gods were cruel. "I couldn't hate you, Astrid." He sighed, kissing her cheek and pulling away from her slightly. "But by the gods, I could hack Agnar into raven-food right this second." Magnus mumbled, a shadow falling over his eyes. He touched the woman's soft cheek with the back of his hand. "I wish I could have you...but if that is the will of the gods, so be it." Magnus said before being interrupted by a flurry of events seemingly all happening at once. Some strange foreigners showed up, but Magnus had no time to encounter them at the moment, for Aron, the Slav was being chased away. He was to distracted to quite catch why. "I must go now." Magnus said again softly, this time kissing Astrid on the lips before sprinting away in the general direction of where the Slav fled.

Aron sprinted through the woods like a mad man, cuttimg through on his own memorixed trail. Mm He took a glance behind him, seeing Magnus off in the woods in assumption he had less than favorable plans. It was not long until he saw his wagon in the mear distance, jumping onto the back f it as he yelled at his slave shirtless inside. The man was dirty and skinny, and one would describe him as ugly, featuring unmatchimg features. His skin was notably dark, and his eyes were narrow. "Chuyen, chuyen!" He yelled at the slave, letting him scramble up and whip the horses into speed. If Magnus was a fast runner, he may be able to catch up tp grab on in time.

Astrid left the monks to eat their food in peace, she had questions she wanted to ask, but the men needed food and drink before being questioned. She made her way out of the hall and across the courtyard towards Agnar, lowering her head as she approached the new comer, she took Agnar's hand. "The men are eating in peace, what else is there to do?" She spoke calmly, "I can feel your tension, please let me help" she smiled sweetly at him.

@JacobLoL @Elliot Bailes

"But Astrids a healer.." Azura mumbled as he ran. Her arms now hanging limply off her body. Swinging as he ran. She looked up as the trees rushed by her.

Magnus assumed that the Slav was in some sort of trouble. Every now and then the swede would catch glances of Aron, but it was hard to see as he was barreling through the undergrowth, branches whipping in his face. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a sort of realization hit him. Every day he would be painfully reminded about that son of a bitch earl and how he stole the woman he loved from him. Agnar was weak, unable to even kill a stupid Saxon woman! Pha! Worse yet, Magnus would be having to take orders from this man until the day one of them died. Magnus had realized he now wanted nothing to do with Agnar or his earldom ever again, that is unless Astrid needed him. His surprisingly serene train of thought was broken as a branch thwacked him in the mouth. Good news was, he was closing in on Aron as they hit an open path and the Slav dived into cart. He was starting to peeter out now, his limbs ached and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. "Aron! Aron, you stupid Slav! I want to go with you!" Magnus yelled, not far behind. Finding the last of his strength Magnus was able to muster a final burst of speed, catching up to the cart, and just barley dropping himself in. With an exasperated laugh, slumped on the wooden floor of the cart, Magnus panted, "Wait for me next time, eh?"

@northguy

Azura lay there somewhat dazed, and was suprised as Magnus landed next to them "Hey you" she said weakly, looking dazed and weak.

"I accept" Agnar said, signalling for Oleg to rise "Now, how many men do you have?" He asked. Agnar's men were searching the village for the slav but he had the feeling that they wouldnt find him. Soon Astrid came back to his side. "You cant help" Agnar replied, showing her a small smile before looking away from her.

@Elliot Bailes @Sharkiee

Astrid watched Agnar, "did he kill all three? Is there no mending I can do? Please Agnar I don't want to stand here and do nothing. I am useful" she pouted slightly at his words. With the monks busy feast she had no other options. Or maybe she could finish her words with Magnus, if he had the patience for her.

@JacobLoL

Aron felt like he was constantly being thrown event after event, and the moment Magnus was in his cart, he made sure to give him a hard and sturdy boot in the face, letting Magnus be left with that as he laid in Aron's wagon. He got up to his knees as he reached ome of his bags, dumping out the medical supplies as he looked at Azura's pierced leg. Aron furrowed his brow as he picked out a few ointments, bandages, stitches, and a small torch that was specific for the task of healing. "Astrid will also get me killed, how about a thanks to the man who fucked everything to save you, hm?" It was obvious he was beginning to get irritated by the spinning events around him. He let himself take a short moment calm down as though it was in vain, soon looking back at Magnus, "Get her something to drink! Now, now!" He yelled in deep Slavic as he pointed over to the corner of his fast moving wagon, three giant water jugs tied to the side. The horses ran together as they raced down the path, Aron finally finishing gathering his supplies, looki g back over to Azura. "Stay awake, no matter what." He let out a breathy sigh as hs looked at the Viking land they left behind. He knew he would be back, one day.

@John Raptorfist @DarknessSpirit

"Hey...you." Was the first thing Magnus said as saw the wounded Azura laying in the crammed cart. But, Magnus didn't have much time to think, as Aron's boot came in hard and fast on his face. "Thor's hammer!" Magnus winced spitting out a glob of blood. "What was that for?!?" He hissed, seeing the scarlet liquid on his fingers, it had came from his nose. Before he could get an answer, the Slav was already screaming at him to get some water for the wounded girl. Magnus obliged without a word, taking some water from one of the barrels and pouring it into his sealskin flask. Scooting over to Azura, he put the woman's head on his knees and gently let the water flow into her mouth. He didn't particularly like Azura, but if they were going to be stuck on this cart together, he'd have to learn to tolorate her. After giving the slave girl the water, Magnus sat back at his own side of the cart. They looked ridiculous, deshelvled and bleeding, all outcasts from different backgrounds. It was like some kind of joke. With the blood still oozing from his nose, Magnus spoke with a small grin, "So a Swede, a Bulgarian, and a Pol walk into a bar..."

Agnar waited a moment before two of his men returned "Two of the men are alive!" One of them yelled. Agnar looked at Astrid before following his men into an alley where the two men lay, one had a severe wound to his neck and the other to his chest "Can you help them?" Agnar asked Astrid, turning to face her.

@Sharkiee

She ripped her satchel pulling out a a long string of bandages, rushing to the man with the neck injury, binding it tightly. She ordered some of them men around her to put pressure on the bandages, tending to the other man doing the same, wrapping the bandages around his chest to stop the bleeding, "I need them moved into the hall"she ordered one of the men, who followed her orders getting the men to move the injured into the hall. She hurried to Agnar's side, "Relax, we will fix this" she kissed him softly on the lips, before turning and following the men to the hall.

@JacobLoL

"Relax, we will fix this" Astrid spoke as she kissed him softly on the lips, Agnar nodded and followed Astrid and his men up to the great hall. His men threw open the doors, allowing the men to carry the two wounded warriors inside.

@Sharkiee

Azura grinned as Magbus made a joke, but said nothing, she was feeling very tired and did nothing as they tended to her wounds. Maybe they'd just let her sleep for a little bit, that's all she needed. Azura slowly closed her eyes. "Just one little nap." She murmured. She hardly though anything of the two at the moment, just that she was really tired.
