Realistic or Modern Age of Vikings (Always Accepting!)

Decthalia listened into the conversation as she gave a disgusted look at Magnus when he started to pick at the dirt from underneath his fingerneails. Decthalia was worried a bit about the girls wound, but she didn't accept her offer to help her with it and so she just ignored her for a while. "Are we going to rest for a while, it's not safe to travel at night around these parts." She said to the group as she saw the sun setting.

Aron continued making his way down the path as he looked up at the ski, shaking his head as he walked across the way. "You think this is bandit land?" He let out a short chuckle, knowing that Vikings had been mostly peaceful inside their own lands. They weren't going to raid a wagon of their local brothers, as long as Aron and Magnus headed the speaking. "We'll be alright, we don't want to take all that long to get there, either. We need to give ourselves as much time as we like. So, let's keep moving." He spoke over to her and finished with a short yawn, the axe rested on his shoulder as he continued walking down the path.

Azura was a stubborn one, she was against letting others help her. Azura shook her head, she was on the wrong side of this upcoming war. Azura looked out for herself, but she wasn't about to did wandering the woods, she didn't even know where she was. Azura was weak, tired and in pain. Azura eventually fell into a restless sleep.

Back at the hall Pierre had looked over the work of the woman they called Astrid , indeed she had done a good job at stopping the bleeding but the wound still ran the risk of infecting , he and his fellow monks had long worked at a monastic hospital so they knew a lot about healing wounds and other ailments , which is why he felt that they would be able to do some good if the earl let them .

"My lord , although the men have stopped bleeding , steps have to be taken for their care so that they may not become feverish , if you let us my lord I believe that my brothers will be able to nurse them back to health in no time."

"My brothers and I have long worked with the sick and are well versed in medicine , I have noticed in my journeys my lord that the northern lands are very primitive at least in terms of medicine which is why with your blessings we wish to open a hospital in these lands , a place to treat the sick and dying"

Agnar brought his hands up to his face, frustrated with the how the morning had gone. He walked over to the Earl's throne, sitting down as he observed the room. He considered the strange man's proposal of healing his warriors and setting up a hospital in the village but since he knew little of the men or the kingdoms they spoke of he was wary to accept his offer "I think Astrid can take care of them on her own" He replied to the robed man, leaning to one side of his chair. His thoughts turned back to the war that he was about to start, what if the slav warned Earl Haron of his plans?

Astrid turned with a smug smile on her face, these strange men trying to take over, it angered her. She paced over to the men resting by the fire, but what the man had said made her curious as to what she did wrong. The men had started to sweat, which wasn't unusual for her. She called for a slave to bring her a fresh bucket and cloth for her. The slave disappeared and returned, a trail of steam following them as they hurried across the room to where Astrid sat. She wiped down the men's faces, they began to shiver. Her eyes drifted up to where Pierre stood, "now would be a prefect time to educate me" she spoke calmly as she tried to soothe the man in front of her.

Pierre was about to reply to the king with a plea to reconsider his proposition , when one of the men started to shiver and sweat profusely . When the woman tending to them asked for help he was happy to oblige .

"Quickly , bring me a clean cloth and give me that hot water"

The slaves ran across the room in hurry as one of the other brothers took the closest bottle of alcohol he could find , "here brother Pierre" he said as he handed it over .

"Now this may hurt , but don't fret the lord is with you"

As he said that Pierre poured the alcohol over the wound , the pain swept over the body of the man and he had to be held down in order to prevent him from opening up the wound further , as the man settled one of the monks brought an ointment Astrid noticed its distinguishable orange color . Pierre applied it over the wound then neatly dressed it with the cloth

The same was repeated by the monks on the other man .

"There you go m'lord , they will feel like nothing happened in no time."

"in nomine patris et filii et spiritus sancti , amen "

he said making the sign of the cross and wiping the blood off his robes .

Astrid stood back as she watched the monks at work, her face dropped, her pride slightly hurt by how simple the procedure actually was. The orange ointment brought easy brought to her attention, her ointments were always green, or brown, her knowledge of orange plants or roots limited. She sat herself watching them, her head hung a little.

Pierre noticed that the woman had become quiet reclusive , it was as if her pride was hurt

"Don't worry my child , there are numerous mysteries in this world medicine is one of them , you have done well but there is much to learn in this pursuit if you'd like I shall be more than happy to teach you , but at the same time I must implore you to convince the earl to let us help . you yourself have seen what we can do , don't you think that we may be able to do much more for the sick in this village ? "

Saying this Pierre sat down having exerted himself too much in one day .

"Please , fetch me some water will you lad" he said to one of his brothers .

Astrid glared at the man, not responding to his words, she knew he was right, she was aware of her limitations, and he could teach her, and aid her to improve. She bit her lip as she thought to herself, she did not know where Agnar's thoughts were on these men. He sat on this throne, looking half done with life, she watched from afar, unsure of his mood. Playing with a strand of her hair she stared off into the fire, her thoughts were brought to Magnus, she hadn't seen him since her rejection of him. She snapped herself out of the day dream, switching her stare from the fire to Agnar again, she had chosen him, she reminded herself.

She stood, placing down the mug of tea she had brewed earlier. She walked slowly over to Agnar's throne, standing next to him watching the scene in front of them, she waited for him to speak first.

Magnus sighed, putting his head against the rattling wood of the cart and closing his pale blue eyes. He thought of Astrid. He thought of the way her russet hair fell on her shoulders, he thought of the way she smiled and the way she laughed, he thought of that one intimate moment they had shared on the lakeside before Agnar had interrupted them. There was that name again. The name of that slimebag. The man grinned, his eyes still closed as he imagined steel slicing through Agnar's throat. Speaking of which, There was a war brewing and Magnus hoped that the next time he'd meet Astrid wouldn't be on the battlefield.

Azura broke through the silence."Your angry. This isn't what you want." Azura said in a serious tone, meaning Magnus.

Magnus scoffed, opening his eyes. "You could say I'm angry and this is what I want." He said, closing his eyes once again. "What do you know about what goes on inside my head, huh?" The man growled. It was hard to rest due the cart jarring whenever it hit something. It seemed as though even the smallest pebble could make the rickety thing shake like it had frostbite.

Aron continued on his walk as he went down the path with the axe upon his shoulder, letting out a long yawn as he listened to the two of them speak in the wagon, finally deciding to break Azura's theory. "We are not fighting Agnar." He said rather bluntly, his mind still piecing together small details of his plan. Aron was not an idiot of a man, he knew Agnar was recently gaining traction and his soldiers had loyalty to him, hopefully the events he caused and the acceptance of the Godly men he saw from a view would challenge that loyalty, but he was not going to take risks.

Agnar didnt speak, just staring into the blazing fire in front of him. Suddenly a man ran into the room, stopping before Agnar and Astrid "My Earl, i saw the traitor Magnus escape with the Slav!" He said urgently as he tried to catch his breath. This betrayal filled Agnar with anger and rage. Magnus had turned on him because Astrid had chosen him out of the two of them, but what worried him more was Magnus' knowledge of his plans. Agnar stood up adruptly, kicking over one of the chairs to his table in rage before speaking to the room "Gather the army, we march today!" He announced before turning back to Astrid "I dont want you coming with us" He spoke softly, placing a hand on her arm, she meant to much to him to risk her getting hurt in the upcoming battle. He turned to the strange men, becoming angry once again "OUT!" he yelled, moving closer to the leader of the men "I want you and your foreign god out of my village!" He yelled, his face moving to within inches of the man before storming off to the Earl's room, Agnar became more furious with every passing second.

Astrid stood behind Agnar's chair, the scene in front of her making her suddenly fear Agnar, she had never seen this side of him. She stood silently for a moment, uncertain to follow him. She finally chose against it, turning her attention to the monks, she rounded the table heading towards the group, "we must hurry" she spoke quietly and only to Pierre, as though the other men were just background noise. "I will take you to my father's cottage, he will be preparing for battle, so it will give you a place til we figure this out" she looked over her shoulder toward the direction Agnar had stormed. Turning back to the monks, fear in eyes, "before he returns" she turned and made her way towards the exit.

Azura shook her head "You put us in danger being her. And Aron your wrong, you ARE going against Agnar. You know how this looks? It looks like a rebellion against Agnar. It looks like your pissed because Astrid choose Agnar!" Azura said, finally losing her temper.

Magnus's face reddened with anger as she spoke, his fists clenching until his knuckles turned white. His seax made a clean shhhiikkk noise as he pulled it from its sheath, he wanted to stab this girl. "Say that again or I'll cut that blubbering tounge out of your throat!" He snarled, moving a little bit closer to Azura. "Maybe you should just shut up." He hissed, backing away.

@DarknessSpirit

Aron continued down the path as he simply repeated himself, "We're not /fighting/ him." He then let out a sigh as he whistled for the cart driver to stop, beginning to step around the cart as he looked inside. "We can leave you here, his men will probably find you when they are on their way to fight Haron tomorrow, or Haron's men will find you. Either way you'll end back up with the Earl and your mother." He looked at her in the eyes, finishing off with. "We'll be moving these horses swiftly from here on, so it's your choice, stay with the man who saved you or go back to the ones who would kill you."

@DarknessSpirit

Azura would've gotten up herself if her leg was not wounded. She clicked her tongue "Domebodys getting sensitive, what's wrong? Is it to much for you?" Azura hissed at Magnus. "He'll find us. Let me remind you that he has an army. But it's not like I have a choice, I wouldn't make it far with this leg, besides, they'd kill me on sight." Azura said, starting to realize how dangerous this was going to get. She sighed, she just hoped this Earl had ships.

"By the gods, woman! I'd slay you right here if you didn't have Aron protecting you. You're very lucky." He said in an expasperated tone as he slumped against the rattling cart. "Think you've forgotten we are traveling to an earl who also has an army. If Agnar wishes to fight, then let him." Magnus grumbled, folding his arms as he watched the Slav climb back in the cart. "Aron." He greeted him with a quick nod.

Aron nodded to her, speaking as he went back around the wagon, taking the large weapon off his shoulder and casually tossing it inside. "Then you will listen to every word I say while we're together if you want to live. That goes to every single one of you. Are we clear?" He hopped into the front seat of the wagon where he took the whip from his slave, the man scrambling into the back with the rest of the group. With a few cracks of his whip, the horses were galloping in sync, the wagon beginning to move at a bumpy and fast speed. "Hold on to something!" He yelled back to the group with a chuckle, more cracks audibly sounding back as the wind blew back his hair, grabbing onto the side of his wagon as he controlled the horses, the wheels of the wagon going up and down on the rocky path. This was going to be quite the adventure.

As the cart jolted into action, the rattling became almost unearbale. Hearing Aron's shout, Magnus gripped a heavy crate laying next to him. He couldn't help but laugh. The motley crew in their dingy cart were going to war.

There was a long pause before Azura said "Fine." Azura said angrily, still angry she was stupid enough to put this whole thing in action. Azura jerked as the cart suddenly pulled into full action, she yelped out in pain as her leg jerked but clung on tightly to the wagon, biting her lip.
