Academy for the Gifted

Warak was through.

He raised his arms in an attack position. He wasn't sure what Ronnie hoped to accomplish, but he was growing more and more impatient. They had been tracking these guys for days and he just wanted this over.

He felt the heat in his hands and feet increasing and knew that the flames were begining to form.

"Here is the thing. We have been at this for days, and frankly, I am sick of all the caution. What do you say we end it now, huh? It is obvious that you aren't going to talk and I don't want to wait. So lets just do this."

He threw a very well aimed fist sized fire ball at the boys head. He felt the heat surge through him and as it depleted it, for lack of a better word, "refilled" and just seconds after firing he had another prepared.

Lucem's eyes narrowed as he caught sight of the incoming projectile. It was no wonder he was a fire-user, they are always wildly unpredictable. If he were to roll or jump away, the impact radius would certainly leave a nasty burn. With only one option left, he did something he might not have expected. He simply bent his neck slightly and allowed the flame to whizz by his head. This was the best course of action, as using minimal movement allowed him to close the gap between them. The attacker seemed slightly caught off guard after his seemingly effortless dodge and used this chance to attack. Lucem moved at an incredible speed and once he was close enough to the boy, he tripped. During his fall, he planted a palm on the ground at launches a fast kick to his opponents head. This maneuver was used to confuse the enemy and attack while they weren't paying attention.

Ronnie, who had took out her machine pistols as soon as Warak had attacked, bended her head down a bit when the boy threw kicks at them and though she hadn't really been planning on using her wind manipulation, she took a step back and 'shot' a rather violent gust of wind forwards, raising one of her pistols and aiming at the boy, her finger wrapped around the trigger in case she had to shoot.

(I use a D20 to roll damage. That time I rolled a four. I do this for myself to keep it fair, you don't have to do the same. Also, who is going to usher in the actual gang members?)

The boys kick did make an impact, however, the damage was minimal. A slight case of whiplash would most likely be the only symptom. Warak caught his balance once more and aimed two more fist sized balls of fire. One at his opponents head and one at his stomach. While the boy was distracted, he kicked at his chest,as this resource was momentarily depleted. He hoped at least one blow would make it.

"Ronnie? A little help here?" He hadn't seen her react and was hoping she wasn't too angry at him for starting this.

Lucem was in a pinch. A flury of fire balls and a violent gust of wind was being sent his way. As dodging was impossible, he did the only thing possible. He took the boys kick straight to his chest, but quickly grabbed on. He tightened his grip as the blast of wind hit both him and his attacker, dispelling the fire in the process. Both he and the boy were disoriented from the wind, but the kick had left a pain in his chest. He was able to soon recover and make a gap between him and his opponents.

The boy had a tight grip on his leg. And something Warak had not foreseen happened. Ronnie's wind put his fire out. They were going to have to work on that one or they would end up helping their opponent win.

Warak could really see no way out of the boys grip without himself falling too.

He made sure that he was balanced and twisted his foot around the boys arms. He pulled down with his leg as hard as he could, hoping to knock him down. As he did this he brought his now red hot palm down on the boys back, maybe this would distract him for one more blow.

Ronnie had cursed under her breath when the boy had grabbed Warak and the both of them had been hit by her wind attack. She... Would apologize later. As she saw the boy scooting back to set a gap between him and the both of them, she took a chance and sent yet another gust of wind, which was much more powerful than the one she had sent before, leaning over just a bit before she ran just behind it. As she was close enough, she raised her gun and fired, now it was either to take the wind blow or being shot by her. Which one would the boy choose?

(Have to head off for the night guys! >:( Night, night!)

Lucem's rest was cut short, for the girl had sent a more powerful wind, but this time coupled with a bullet. Lucem quickly pulled the hem of his coat in front of him and watched as the bullet fell to the floor upon contact, while the wind hassle left a few cuts before dispelling. He was grateful that he had thought to make his jacket bullet-proof.

The bullet however, made him realize something. They actually planned on killing him. He was foolish to think a gang would show mercy.

Warak was becoming winded.

He was getting tired of this fight and was surprised at the strength of the gang member. This was becoming much more of a fight than he bargained for.

He punched one more fireball filled with all of the rage that he felt in that moment. Knowing it probably wouldn't hit but hoping to god that it would.

The flame struck Lucem with incredible force upon contact. The plant life surrounding him was reduced to ashes, yet he made no move. He stood completely still, it was hard to tell if he was even breathing, as the a few flames remained on his body. "It saddens me greatly to know that my assumption was correct" he said with his usual emotionless tone. From the beginning of this fight, he had no intention of actually harming these two, as he tried as many times as possible to only attack their pressure points, to render them unconscious. However, the bullet thy was fired at him consider that these people actually intended to kill him. In order to confirm his thoughts, he took the last blast head on, to gauge its power. The blast has sadly confirmed his suspicions. A normal person would have died immediately from the flames. "I hope you can find it in what's left of your hearts to forgive me for what I'm about to do." As he said this, he brought his hands from out of the shadow of his coat, revealing two gauntlets. They were both beautiful, marked with elegant designs upon ebony and ivory steel. As he finished his sentence he charged, now with even greater speed than before. He immediately charged towards the fire-user and released an incredible amount of punches. Combined with his speed and power, his fists were almost reminiscent to a gatling gun. He felt terrible about having to resort to using full-on violence, but it had to be done.

Ronnie didn't even give herself the chance to be bewildered at the guy's sudden attack. She moved, she and Warak were partners, and she couldn't just stand still as she saw that other guy charging at him. So she shoved her pistols back on its holsters, they weren't of use right now, and with two long strides she charged against the guy. Sure, he was fast but he seemed to be concentrated on Warak and with that chance, she used the wind to push herself forwards and concentrated it on her foot before lansing a kick on his side, releasing a strong gust of wind from the kick as well. Simultaneously, she grabbed Warak and used the wind to push both of them back, pulling out one of her pistols again to shoot at the guy, fine he had a bullet proof jacket but she was using her bullets as a distraction for the time being.

Warak realized the full force of what was coming by the look on the boys face. He wasn't sure he was going to be able to protect himself. He wasn't sure where Ronnie was, he hoped that if he was incapacitated, she would take this guy down.

His fire was taking much too long to charge after the power put behind that last punch. He could do nothing but wait for the blow.

As Lucem continued his assault on the older teen, he did not notice the incoming kick of the girl, which managed to separate him from his target. The kick wasn't very strong, but he the familiar whizzing sound of bullets. He managed to catch most with his gauntlets, but three of them had managed to his him in his side. He tore a piece of his coat to wrap around the wound, which was currently releasing a large amount of blood. He hasn't seen his own blood in quite awhile, it felt .... strange. His body began heating up and his vision became blurred. His body seemed to move on his own as it released the hidden chains within his gauntlets. The chains moved at in incredible speed, as the managed to trap both of his targets within their grasp. He felt as if he had no control over his body as he charged forward with a clenched fist, as his body kept increasing with heat. As he charged forward, he didn't notice the pitch-black aura that was currently surrounding his fist or how his eyes became an even brighter red, to the point of being able to glow into the darkness. He was no longer in control of his current actions, as his body now felt as if it was on fire. His gauntlet stopped right in front of his opponents, as he heard the sound of a snapping branch. "Who's there? Reveal yourself!", he called out into the night. The heat had subsided, along with the menacing black aura, as he focused on the area of the noise, now in control of his actions.

Ronnie had tried to avoid them to get caught on the chains, but she wasn't fast enough. Soon, they were wrapped around her body, just as some of them were wrapped around Warak's body as well. She cursed under her breath before trying to break free, just to be distracted by the guy who was now charging forward and whose own eyes seemed to be shimmering with an unnatural red color. She didn't even look to the side, instead, she just watched him with an abnormal calmness. Then he just stopped, his gauntlet just a few inches from them. She had heard him speak and had turned to look to the spot he was looking at, brow raised. Who was there?

It took Warak a few seconds to realize that he wasn't writhing on the ground in agony and wasn't being attacked again. Oh, don't misunderstand, he was pretty beat up (he could feel some of the wounds pretty deeply) but he wasn't completely out. Despite this, he would be very sore and would most likely have to spend a few days, maybe a week or more, recuperating when this was over. It surprised him that even after that last blow he couldn't think of himself losing this fight.

He looked over at Ronnie and the boy and realized they weren't fighting anymore and were both seeing something Warak wasn't. What did he miss?? He turned his head in that direction, still at a loss. What was going on?

As Lucem called out, a group of young men dressed in matching outfits came out of the shadows of the forest. They all appeared within to be within the same age range, most likely in their late teens or early twenties. Soon after there entrance, a large muscular man came forth. He appeared to be older than the others by at least 8 years. "What do you think you're doing on our turf, brats?" he bellowed.

Lucem was confused by these new events. According to the large man, they had claimed this territory as theirs. The only people he was aware of tht resided here, was the gang. These people certainly fit the description, especially when a few of them brought out their knives and bats. If they were indeed the gang, that made things even more confusing. The man had said "brats", meaning more than one. There were two people in the vecinity besides him and the gang, which were the two gang members who had attacked him. Why would they be threatining their own members? The only explainable reason, would be that they weren't part of the gang. They had attacked him and they were in the base alone, so who could they possibly be. Realization struck him like a bolt of lightning, as he remembered the two partners he was sent to investigate. The partners he was sent to investigate were comprised of a man and a woman, which matched their description. Although, there was still the question of why they attacked him. He was confused, until he took a good look at himself. A hooded being in all black didn't exactly signal an ally. They were also probably residing in the building to investigat the gang. Everything now made sense.

Lucem mentally berated himself, a he retracted the chains. He was a fool for getting distracted by the fight. He would be sure to discipline himself later. "I apologize for what has happened here. It seems there has been a misunderstanding." his voice still held the emotionless tone, but he was sincere with his apology. He then retracted his attention back to the gang, who seemed to be getting angrier by the minute. The leader now appeared to be brandishing as pair of spiked knuckles, behing his large ring. Lucem gauged the situation before putting away his gauntlets and equipped the black fingerless gloves once more. "This should be over quickly." He charged at a fast speed towards the enemy and made quick strikes at their pressure points, effectively knocking five of them out. There were currently fifty more, including the leader and they didn't seem very strong. By his estimates, the battle should last about two minutes.

Warak saw the gang and waited for the boy to join them. He panicked as he considered that they all possessed the strength that this boy had demonstrated. He wasn't feeling very confidant about this fight.

When he heard the boy utter that sentence so blandly he was caught off guard. Why was he sorry? What was the misunderstanding? That didn't make very much sense. Then the chains that were keeping him immobile were retracted. Was he surrendering.

"What is going on? Are you not with them?" If he wasn't then who was he with?

Warak decided that he didn't care at the moment. He focused his attention on the gang.

Ronnie lowered her eyes to the chains as they retracted before she glanced back at the gang "It seems we were all wrong" She said in a low voice as she watched the guy fighting off those who had recently arrived. Honestly, those guys didn't seem to be very strong and Ronnie thought the 'mysterious' guy would be able to handle them all on his own, even more when some of them seemed to run away as they saw what the boy was capable of. Cowards She thought to herself as she rolled her eyes "So..." She glanced at Warak from the corner of her eye "Should we help him?"

(I'm sorry guys! > < I moved to Mexico this week and had been so busy settling and such xS)

Warak was dumb struck.

"Does he need it?" The group had dwindled and he wasn't sure there would be many left for them to fight even if they did join in. "So... who is he if he isn't a member of the gang? I am so confused." He thought for a moment and remembered that the boy had apologized. "I don't think that he is our enemy. Maybe we should help him." He aimed a few fire balls at the stragglers and two of the cowards who were running. Leaving a few for Ronnie.

Lucem took notice of the fire taking down some of the escaping members, while he delivered a chop to the back of another's neck. "I appreciate the assistance.". Having those two prevent the others from escaping, would allow him to focus on those that remained. The gang wasn't particularly powerful, but having to chase down escapees would be tiresome.

It had been about a minute since the fight had begun and the gang was already down to their last three members, including the leader. They were each equipped with weapons that differed from the other members, probably signing that they were the most powerful in their group. Besides the leader's spiked knuckles, the member on the left brandished a taser and the one on the right possessed a butterfly knife.

As they charged at him, the member with the taser had attempted to shock Lucem's neck. He grabbed his arm and kicked his feet out from under him, while removing the taser from his grasp. The knife wielder had attempted a rescue by making a stab at his chest. Lucem had managed to grab the blade with his gloves, before delivering a quick headbutt. With the other two incapacitated, it was now time to face the leader.

As Lucem could tell that the leader was strong in his own right as he managed to slightly push him back. "You'll pay for this you little brat!" His face was filled with fury as he continued his assault. His punches were full of strength, but that was all he possessed. His moves were uncoordinated and slow, which left him open from many angles. Lucem managed to duck under his last swing and get behind him, in order to make a strike at his neck. His plan was cut short, as the leader had turned around and delivered a powerful punch to his gunshot wound. Lucem now stood still, gripping his injury. That last punch had removed the bandaging and the bleeding had started again. Lucem fell to his knees as the leader charged to deliver another punch. "Not so tough now, are ya?". It was silent except for his footsteps and the sound of Lucem's breathing. The silence was soon cut short by the sounds of muttering coming from Lucem. "5...4...3..." The leader paid nouns as he was closing in on his target. As he was about to deliver his punch, a volt of electricity shot up his entire body and he fell unconscious. In front of him stood Lucem with the taser from before "1. Right on time."

He slowly rose from his position and proceeded towards the two people from before. The leader and the gang now laid unconscious on the forest floor wrapped in his chains. "You would be Warek Renal and Veronica Terrence, correct?" His voice was still laced withouth a hint of emotion, but he made an attempt to sound friendly or non-threadingLucem took notice of the fire taking down some of the escaping members, while he delivered a chop to the back of another's neck. "Umm, yes. We are... How do you know us?" Warak was feeling a little more comfortable with this stranger. He was sure there had been a misunderstanding. Was this boy from the academy? If so, why was he here?

"Are you from the academy? Were you put to this assignment as well?"

Warak was not sure how he felt that they might have sent someone to check up on them or assist them. "They don't think that we can handle our assignments by ourselves?"

Warak looked back at Ronnie to see how she was responding to this development. As far as he was concerned, they were partners and this one was not a part of it. They were a team. They didn't need a baby sitter. Especially one so young. He was talented, Warak would give him that. However, he was not sure what part he was comfortable with the boy playing in his and Ronnie's partnership. It was hard enough to earn one persons trust, let alone two. Of course, it wasn't the boys fault. He was following orders. That was, if Waraks assumption was correct and he was sent here by the academy.

Ronnie hadn't, to be honest, really help out there. Why would she want to prevent all the members of the gang to escape? It was not like they were going to kill them or something like that. Either way, those who took the chance to escape wouldn't really pose a threat for them, it only demonstrated how weak they truly were and the lack of confidence they'd got. So she just actually knocked out with the help of her wind a few of the ones who were still foolish enough to fight them and watched the last fight between the mysterious boy and the gag leader, she presumed.

"And who might you be? I guess it will only be fair for us to know your name being it that you know ours" Ronnie said, brow raised. He had to be from the academy. Like the way he moved, it showed he was not completely 'normal'.

Lucem slowly pulled down the hood of his coat to reveal his face to the two in front of him. He brushed away the bangs of his snow-white hair on his slightly pale face, to reveal two bright red eyes, sparkling from the light of the moon. They had both clarified their identities and mentioned the academy, so revealing his identity would be safe. "My name is Lucem Tenebris, it is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. I have been tasked by the academy to oversee your partnership during this mission. The academy has experienced difficulties with new partnerships in the past, so they often send higher-ups to make sure nothing goes wrong. I can assure you, Mr. Renal, that the academy had no doubt about your ability to accomplish the mission, this is just a formality and once I turn in my report, I should be done with my with my observations. I wasn't tasked with aiding in your mission, but the events that happened here were unexpected. Once again, you have my apologies."

Turning in the report would be an issue once he returned to the academy. He had no doubt that somebody would end up being punished. The only question was if it would be him or the two partners in front of him. "I can not apologize enough for what my actions have caused here today. I will accept full responsibility for the mishap and will recieve any punishment that is given as a result." Lucem was now bowing his head in front of the two, in order to offer his apologies. Even if he didn't sound like it, Lucem was truly sorry. Theses two shouldn't be punished for his mistake. He was so caught up in his apology, that he didn't notice the still bleeding gunshot wound in his side. "If you require any medical attention, I will take it upon myself to pay for all expenses. If you need anything, do not hesitate to ask." He wouldn't let people be injured, due to his foolishness.
