Academy for the Gifted

Ronnie glanced at him before stepping inside, her hands sliding to her pistols in case she would be forced to use them unexpectedly. It was well… A pretty normal place actually. More specifically a pretty normal abandoned building. It was big and spacious, the floor was kind of dusty and some boxes were piled up on several spots of the place. Ronnie raked one of her hands through her hair, the other one still resting in one of her pistols; it didn’t feel as if there was anyone there. She looked over her shoulder at Warak and signaled him with her head to follow her before she turned her head back to the front and quietly took a few steps forward.

As they reached the middle, she stopped on her heels, quite disappointed; there was no thing out of the ordinary there. Indeed, there were a couple of beer cans spread through the floor, some simple and old mattresses and a few plastic bags with food on them. This place was really being inhabited but it seemed that only by a bunch of kids who didn’t really seem to be a threat. There were no guns either! Unless they had taken them with them. She sighed and turned to Warak “So what do you think about it?” She asked in a low tone of voice, she didn’t think there was anyone in there but.. It was better to keep the tone low.

(Uh! Finally posted it! Sorry I took long!)

(Not a big deal at all :) I have been working on a few new characters and a couple other rp's so it gave me a little time to focus on that :) But I am back and ready to jump into an alternate dimension or something ;) )

Warak was stumped. This was obviously where someone lived, but he didn't see anything threatening or unusual. It just looked like a few people were squatting. It didn't make much sense.

Warak took a moment to think of an answer to Ronnie's question. "Well, this is certainly unusual..." He crossed his arms and tilted his head. "Well, the way I see it, we have a couple options. We can go outside, find exits and set up watches there until whoever lives here comes back. This food is fresh, logically we can assume they will come back. We can leave and ask other locals about this gang. Or, we can go back to the Academy... inform them about the situation and see what they would have us do. However, if we do the last one I think that we should still ask around town. Just so the Academy knows that we have covered our tracks and looked into every possibility."

(Yay! (\^o^/) Soon we'll be able to get on out alternate dimension thingy! xD )

"Or..." Ronnie walked over to a mattress and let herself fall back on it, sitting down quickly as she crossed one of her legs above the other "We can wait for them to come. Either way the one who hired us was your friend and well our job is just to get them to stop. Let's wait for them over here and if they are not here in a couple of hours we can do whatever of the options you just mentioned. How about that?" She said as she tilted her head to the side, waiting for his approval

It was a good idea. They had walked all the way here after all.

"That sounds good." He smiled and plopped down beside her on the mattress. "This could be fun. What do you want to do while we wait?"

He crossed his legs and leaned back, making himself comfortable. They could be here for a while.

Ronnie looked down at him and couldn't help it but chuckle, he was taking her plan pretty well. She leaned back as well, staring at the ceiling before talking "Anything is fine" She said softly, maybe talking would be for the best, if not Ronnie didn't have the absolute confidence to assure him she wouldn't end up falling asleep. She shifted a little and rolled to the side, her cheek leaning on the mattress as she stared at him "Have you ever hate it? Being 'different' I mean" She finally asked.

(I'm late again DX Sorry! I've been having my mind like elsewhere. But! I'm almost done with everything I have to take care of. Hurray! So I'll absolutely try not to keep this waiting for so long)

(It is all good :) ! I haven't been on in like a week. Getting ready for college lol.. Had to iron a few things out.

Did you know that living on your own required money?!? jk jk )

Warak and his old partner'd had this conversation too many times to count... His answer was yes. He didn't know how many times his abilities had caused him to slip up. How many house fires he had caused.

"Yeah I do, sometimes. I have more of a handle on my abilities now, but used to, they would get me into lots of trouble. I would accidentally cause fires at school. A lot of the kids were afraid of me." He sighed and turned so he could see her better. "I think that if I had to choose now, I would choose to keep my abilities. But there was a time not so long ago that I would have given them away in a heart beat."
(Is it too late to join this?)
Me and DamiClo originally made this as a 1x1. However, a few weeks back someone was interested in joining and DamiClo made a character to be his partner. He never actually joined though so, if it is okay with her, you might be able to use that one. I would PM DamiClo and make sure though :)

(Lol I would have thought so xD You live on your own? Cool! I was but.. I missed my parents xP)

Ronnie nodded, lowering her eyes from his face for a moment. Before, she was only good shot, she was proud of her ability. Even among those who were good at it as well, she was still the best. She loved to be different on that way. She loved it. It made her different from her other siblings, which among her family was rare, being it that she belonged to such a big family. Then the wind manipulation came. She became dangerous but also valuable, she was sent away. And though she had told herself she had been okay with it, that it was reasonable.. Well, sometimes it just wasn't "I guess I would have to think it twice" She admitted as she looked up at him again.

(I'd be fine with you joining ^^ Also if you'd like to use the character I created I'm also fine with it)

(I actually have a character of my own and a way of introducing him that fits with what's currently happening in the story, if that's alright?)

Do you not want a partner for your character? We are planning on our characters having some sort of love connection at some point lol.

If you can think of a way to integrate him and make it work then I am all for it :)

Back at the begining of this thread you will find the details of what we want to know about your character. Post that and then you are good to go :) ! Post anytime you like.
"I think that it is more about accepting who you are and what talents you were gifted than what those talents are. That is what my old partner used to say anyhow. She was pretty smart in that area." He thought for a moment. "I was really close with my old partner. We were like best friends. Do you think that you and I will ever get there?" He wasn't sure that he wanted to know the answer to that one. Maybe she would say no. He flushed, and looked down at his hands, this was going to be embarrassing.

(I don't live on my own yet. I will in about a month and a half though :/ ... I am just doing all of the stressful preparing right now ;) ... It really hasn't sunk in yet. And I am sure that I am going to miss my parents too)

Name: Lucem Tenebris

Appearance: Profile Picture

Personality: Lucem was always a kind and happy child, but an unknown event happened that made his personality change completely. Lucem always wears the same blank expression, coupled with an emotionless personality that has aided in his antisocialism. However, under this exterior, still lies the same kind heart from when he was younger and avoids fighting whenever possible

skill set: Lucem excels in not only hand-to hand combat, but also in long-range. He is very proficient in stealth and strategy-development. These skills have made him an asset during his year at the academy, since he was 14

weapons: Lucem usually only fights with his hands, but when faced with a tough opponent, he dawns a pair of gauntlets with detachable chains. Used as a last resort or for certain occasions, he fights with multiple swords, with his main weapons being a a pair of black and white blades. Unlike other members of the academy, who's abilities include manipulating nature or elements, he has an abnormal ability to control light and darkness.

"The location should be somewhere in this direction", Lucem said, as he walked through the forest. He had received a mission earlier today, that requested him to observe to other members of the academy. As far as he knew, they weren't any threat, but members who received new partners could act out in unknown ways. In case any problems arose between the two, Lucem was required to resolve them.

He was informed that their mission included taking care of a group of gang members, who had been harassing a resident of the nearby town, who had advised him to head this way. He had come across a few stragglers of the gang during his treck, but they weren't all that powerful. He simply attacked their pressure points to make them fall unconscious.

"That must be it" he said, while approaching an abandoned building. He made sure to remain stealthy as he observed the structure. He was wearing all black, as he usually did, to remain hidden. The only thing that could give him away, would be his white hair, but the hood in his black jacket helped conceal it and his identity.

When he was close enough to the building, he peered through the building's window to check for members of the gang. Inside , he observes two people, currently lounging around. There was a boy and a girl in their older teens, which fit the description of the gang, the store-owner gave him. The boy's appearance was very casual, rather than a professional one people at the academy usually wore. He considered the possibility of them being the partners he was sent to observe, but the notion was soon discarded after noticing the discarded wrappers and beer cans. They appeared too recently for the members to have already left. He would not take any further action, slice this mission was given to the pair he was sent to observe, but he would not hesitate to attack if they did so first.

Ronnie blinked at his question before her own eyes softened at his flushed expression. She rolled to the side so that she was facing the ceiling. She thought about his question for a moment. At least the didn't seem to clash. True, they didn't really hit it off since their first encounter, but he seemed fine to work with. She intertwined her fingers together before letting out a soft, small smile "Who knows" She said with a shrug "Maybe, I don't see why not" She admitted, glancing at him from the corner of her eye. Then, as she looked to the side at him, something else caught her eye and she lowered her voice "I think there is someone outside" She said to Warak.

(Oh I see. Well good luck then ^^)

He ignored his disappointment in her vague answer, he was beginning to like and enjoy Ronnie's company, and turned to look discreetly, so they wouldn't notice, in the direction of the person in the window.

There was someone outside. A man. "A member of the gang?"

He sat up in a sitting position and looked at Ronnie trying to make it look natural."He obviously see's us. There is no point in using stealth or trying to sneak up on him. He may not even be in the gang. He doesn't look like the description. I say we approach him. What do you think?"

"I think that's a good idea. He does seem suspicious" She said with a nod before pushing herself up. She held out a hand for him, her other hand resting just above one of her holsters. They had planned to speak with them, but they may be forced to be the ones to attack first. As she waited for Warak to take her hand she spoke again "I think it is better to be careful though, we may have to attack him. Also, he may not be alone" She said in a low voice and casually.

Warak got up and exited the building with Ronnie. The more he thought about it the more he was convinced that this person was part of the gang. Did the description really matter? Why else would someone watch them from the window? If he was part of the gang then he must think they were trespassing on his territory. No one else would have a reason to sit there like he was.

Once they reached the man out side, Warak was ready to take this one out. He had his hands raised and he felt flames building... He could feel the heat rising. "Who are you? Why were you spying on us?"

As Lucem observed the pair, he could make out a few words being said by the girl. The most notable being 'alone and attack'. These two words made him have to think of a completely new strategy. The word alone probably meant that they were aware of his presence and that he was by himself. The word attack signifies that they were planning on fighting. Although these were only two words, he was able to immediately devise two strategies. Both of them were older, which he could use to his advantage. They could underestimate him due to his young age and lower there guard. If this was the case?, he could easily act weak and timid, allowing him to catch them off guard. However, they could just as easily do the opposite and come at him full force. The boy had two swords attached to his back, signifying that he was a close-range fighter. From what he could see, the girl had no weapons on her, which could mean that she either fight hand-to-hand, or that she kept her weapon hidden. Lucem reaches into his coat pocket and pulled out two black fingerless gloves. Whatever happened, he was ready.
As the two approached him, he made no movements and said nothing. Revealing his identity and purpose would be dangerous.

Ronnie raised her eyebrow at the guy in front of them before she glanced at Warak, was he going to attack now? Her eyes caught the moment when the guy pulled out some black gloves from his coat, she did wonder what was he planning. He stayed still and Ronnie tilted her head to the side a bit, he was planning something. She sighed a bit "So? Who are you?" She finally asked, both of her hands resting on her two leg gun holsters by now.

Warak was more concerned now than he was before.

Why wouldn't this guy tell them who he was. If he didn't answer soon he was thinking about attacking. He looked over at Ronnie. She looked... Confused?? He wasn't sure. How was she feeling about this. She had to think it suspicious.

He watched the as of right now, un-named man. He was waiting for an answer.

From what he saw, the two people in front of him were impatient and potentially hot-headed. Fighters like these often get distracted in battle and are irritated by those who tend to dodge during a fight. As he glanced at the girl, he could see that her hands had shifted position and appeared to be reaching for something. From this he concluded that she was a long-range fighter, it didn't seem like she was carrying any heavy weaponry and she seemed to be waiting for him to make the first move, which was a common trait for those that fought from afar. It would be difficult to keep an eye on both of them. "I am in no position to reveal personal information. You are causing trouble for certain people, that I am currently obligated to" His voice came out monotone and emotionless, just as it always did. He made himself sound younger than usual in an attempt to get them to lower their guard. A 15 year old wasn't exactly on the list of threats for gang members.

Ronnie was lightly tacken aback by his voice. It sounded like that of a boy but yet it was so void of emotion "Are we? And who are those 'certain people'?" She asked. Now, as far as she knew they were not troubling anyone. Maybe they would be troubling the gang though. Ronnie was not particularly nervous, nor she was of those who attacked so quickly on an impulse. But maybe if they didn't do anything, nothing would really happen.

Warak was sick of this conversation. He wanted to attack and now.

He was thinking about it. Then Ronnie posed her question. Why the diplomacy? The both knew what was going on here.

"As I previously stated, I am in no position to reveal personal information", he repeated. After finishing his response, he turned his gazed to the boy. His impatience seemed to be growing, signaling he would attack soon. Lucem shifted his stance and slowly adjusted his gloves, anticipating the attack to happen at any time.
