Academy for the Gifted

Ronnie smiled at the question "He was amazing. We met here, but as soon as we met each other we got on like a house on fire. He was kind of an elemental user though he couldn't produce nor water or fire by himself, he needed a source. Anyway he and I were a good team" She gave a shrug with a good natured smile on her lips. She would never tell but he had been her long time crush as well.

Alec had been the first person she had made friends with when she first arrived to that place, he was patient when she didn't understand him and he was nice. She had been dejected when he left the academy, maybe that made her not want another one, maybe that stopped her from getting along that well with Warak. True, he was nice and all but he wasn't her former partner. He was nice though and he seemed like a nice person, that was indeed comforting at least, she just hoped they would get along just as good.

So she was close to her last partner too?Her description didn't give much away about how she felt about him personally, but he could hear something more in her voice. He had the feeling they had been something a little more than friends. He couldn't be sure of that of course, he was just making assumptions. He started to feel almost hopeless about the situation. Would they ever get along on the level they needed to? "Well, that's good. I don't know how I would have gotten on during my first years without Andrea, my old partner. It's good to have someone to help you get through the new aspects of the academy."

"Yeah, it is" She admitted "Look, there is the town" She signaled at the buildings with her chin "Well let's just hope we can get along just as well, right?" She gave him a small grin with a light shrug on her part before going down a small hill. She did missed Alec, okay, she missed him a lot, but another thing she had got to miss had been the jobs and so, it was her daily life and once Alec had left the academy she had not been allowed into a mission ever since. She was itching for a job and that one would do. She was also kind of keen to see her new partner in action, that sole job would define a lot within their relationship.

He saw the town as she pointed it out. "I think we will get along well." He smiled and fell into step beside her. "Lets do this." He walked down the path to the town beside her, and tried to mentally prep himself for the fight.

"So what is out first move? What did that sheet say?"

"We've got to meet the one who made the request" She took out the sheet from her pocket, eyeing it "First, I think we have to go to the place he had told the academy he wanted us to meet. I guess he'll tell us how to proceed?" She looked at him, brow raised "Here. Do you know your way around the city?" She tilted her head and held out the paper to him.

(We are doing a gang thing right?)

He did know his way around. He let his eyes wander over the paper until he found the name of the person who filed the problem. " Johnathon Benton. He is a local shop owner. I used to stop by his shop to air the tires on my bike all the time. He would give me a free ice cream cone on Fridays. One time I let the air out of my own tires just for the free cone." He looked up at her and met her stare with a wavering smile. He got the feeling that she wasn't amused. He cleared his throat. "It's... uhhh... it's this way." He pointed north and began walking down the path toward the store.

Ronnie tilted her head at his short story but didn't really show anything on her face. She did found it kind of funny though, imagining such a big guy as him doing that much for just an ice cream was indeed.. 'strange'? She nodded at him as she walked by him, following his steps. Somehow she wondered how would that gand be? Would they really be that dangerous or just annoying 'troubled' teenagers and such.

"And during that time you used to come by was he being troubled by that gang he's reporting?" She might as well get more information on the case. Him knowing the man could also come in handy. Things could get done easily as well.

(Yep ^^)

Warak laughed. "No this was before I came to the Academy. I was about fourteen. And no the gang wasn't around, this is the first I am hearing about this." He turned down the street he remembered going down a thousand times when he was younger, and the store came into view. It was a little bit older than he remembered it being and it made him feel a little nostalgic to see it so run down. "Well, this is the place." They finished crossing the short distance to the store. Warak opened the door and held it open for Ronnie.

"Thanks" Ronnie commented as she walked inside, looking around. It was quite the simple store though it gave off a comfy feeling. She didn't find the man in there though "You sure, he still works here?" She turned to Warak, brow raised. Maybe he was out, but the place seemed kind of run down and well if he was not there Ronnie could still think he actually had opened another store or move out or whatever.

"Yeah he has to, if he sent in the job. He is probably just in the back." Warak led her around the counter at the front of the store and in the door leading to the back. There was a small bed, more like a cot, and a mini fridge. By the look of things, it seemed like Johnathon Benton lived here. That was unsettling, because the last time Warak had seen him, John was married and living in a decent sized house in the main part of the town.

He scanned the smallish room for any sign that John was in. He didn't see him. So Warak backed out of the room and walked to the other side of the store to the area where the fridges for the milk and cheese were kept. He knocked on the door that led to the room behind it. It was opened by John.

"Warak! What are you doing here? I thought that you were off at school? And who is this?" John winked and looked at Ronnie. "How'd you manage that?"

Warak rolled his eyes at John. "Ronnie and I are partners. We are responding to the distress you sent in to the Acadamy. The gangs? Are you still having a problem with them?" Warak found it hard to believe that this man, so chipper, was being tormented by a gang. He didn't seen distressed.

"Oh yeah, been having trouble with them for weeks. Called the police about it, but they don't seem to care. Think that I am just an old man, overreacting. Followed that gang after work one day, I think that they set up in that old abandoned gas station down the street. But the thing is, I never see them meet. They would have to meet up at night sometime."

"And how often do they come to the store?"

"Oh, about once ever couple of weeks. Give or take a couple days."

Warak looked to Ronnie. "Any questions that I have skipped over?"

Ronnie had just smiled politely at the man as she stayed quiet, waiting fro Warak to be done with the questions. She shifted her weight from one leg to the other lightly as she patiently listened to the man. When Warak turned to her she unfolded her previously crossed arms before talking.

"If it is okay with you, would you mind telling us what exactly does this gang do to you? Are there any other people they bother? And what exactly have you hired us for? What would you like us to do to those people?" She looked at the man in the eyes waiting for him to answer her questions.

The man tilted his head to think for a moment. "Well, as for what they do to me, that's easy. They steal from the store as well as vandalize it. Why, just last week, they came in a knocked over several shelves. They do the same thing to a few other shop owners in the area. As for what you do to them, I don't care. I just want them to leave me alone."

Ronnie rubbed the back of her neck after he spoke. This was... bothersome. She could handle such people, not a big deal. But what could they exactly do? Try to make them aware of their actions and how they troubled others? She was sure they already knew and actually enjoyed it. She nodded slowly though. That man was their client and she couldn't say those things out loud.

"Just one last question, Mister. Who are the member of this gang? I mean, are they old, tend, adults, what?"

Ronnie nodded "We'll make sure they don't bother you again then" And with that she bid farewell to the man before stepping out of the store. She hadn't told Warak anything, in case he would want to stay in a bot and catch up with the man, instead she just stood there for a moment, crossing her arms as she leaned against one of the store's walls, now what to do? She tapped her chin with her index finger as she thought.

Warak was done here. He had heard enough. Enough to know that a thorough beating may not be enough for this gang. It sounded like a steak out would be in order. If John didn't know what time they met, then they would have to keep a lookout. And even then there would probably need to be more strategy to this fight than simply fighting them and leaving. Honestly, that might just piss them off.

He waved to John, saying they would do their best to take care of it, and looked at Ronnie. The way she was leaned against the wall told him that she was waiting on him. They left out the front and walked in silence for a block or two. Warak was unconsciously heading in the direction of the place John said the gang met.

He was thinking about strategy and what not when he realized he hadn't yet heard Ronnie's opinion. "What do you think about all of this?"

"Actually I'm not sure. We sure have to come up with a plan to get those guys to stop all this. Now what would you suggest us to do? I think that a simple beating won't be enough" She looked up to him, her green eyes finding their way to his. She wanted to hear his plan before anything.

(Sorry >< Short post!)

( I am not sure I thought this through enough... But there has to be a solution to this problem... Any thoughts? Maybe it is possible to scare them? Or maybe we could set fire to a resource of theirs??? make it harder for them to do what they do? Maybe we should have Ronnie and Warak be at a loss, steak out the base of the gang, and find something that is essential to their operation and destroy it?)

(Eh... I don't know. How about scare them? Though maybe at first they may try to talk things out with them and when they see they can't they scare them? How about that? But if you think about the essential something what would that 'something' be?)

(I have no idea lol :/ I was just throwing something out there. I like your talk to them and scare them thing though, we'll go with that I think)

(Kk! So that plan it is!)

"How about this? Let's try to talk things out, if it doesn't work.. Well we will have to think about something else" Ronnie suggested as she stopped on her heels "But.. I think we will have to wait and see if they truly do meet where that man, John, said"

Warak thought that sounded good. She was right, fighting might not fix this one. "That sounds good." He took an inventory of their surroundings. "We are almost there, it is this abandoned building ahead." He pointed it out and they walked the last half a block to the building. He saw that the dilapidated building showed no signs of anyone having ever inhabited it, especially not recently. "I think that it is best if take a look anyway. They aren't here right now, but John said they don't meet during the day. It isn't that long until night fall. If they don't show up by midnight, we make a new plan. Ask around more?"

"Yeah.. So should we wait here, or would you like to sneak in and take a look inside?" Ronnie looked up at him, brow raised. The job, was easy, sort of. So she thought they would be done pretty soon. She allowed her mind to wonder what would be of their next job, hopefully something a bit more interesting than a gang. She actually wanted to get to go to one of those other worlds and so and fight against something, she was itching to use her pistols.

(You wanna take the lead this time?)

"Yeah, I do think that we should get am idea of the layout of the place." Warak looked once more over the outside of the building. He was dying to get inside and look around. Who knew what was in there?

"After you?"

(OMG! Sorry! I thought I had replied!! I was on finals until last week and it has been hectic! Will reply ASAP! ><)
