Realistic or Modern Abandoned

Gaia beamed at his question nodding. excitedly he grabbed venos hand and began dragging him inside picking up poncho on the way as he began randomly rambling like he always does." My rooms so big with lots and lots of toys. Do you like swimming? I like swimming though I can never find my shorts. I also like the beach and have the sea on my wall. What's your favorite fish? Mines a dolphin because their very nice or at least that's what I heard. i never met one you see but I would like to. Hey do you want to play with my toys with me? we should probably wait for Anna though and do it outside I don't like being cooped up. I want a lollipop what about you? Do you want a lollipop?"

Gaia paused for a second to breath and let veno respond. They were almost to his room now.

Zack covered up his wrist with his other hand, noticing that Valorie looked uneasy about it. "Yeah, Just memories coming back, I guess..." He smiled, looking at her. When Jeremy waddled over Zack immediately helped him, He took the plate of food and put it where he was sitting. He lifted him up and rested him in Valorie's arms. "There you go!" He smiled, giving Jeremy the plate. He loved kids. "That looks yummy, I'm going to go get myself some!" Zack laughed and went over to the kitchen where Stewart was. "Hey, Are you going to bake your magnificent breakfast muffins today?" He asked, opening the cupboard and getting out a plastic cup. He opened the fridge and shivered at the sudden breeze. He took out a carton of orange juice and filled his cup up with it. He took the cup and sipped it. Zack waited for The Chef to reply.

Valorie smiled at him and took one of Jeremy's pancakes, eating it. 'Yummy." She mumbled, taking another sip of her tea. She smiled and decided to go up to her room, her mind's memories starting to get to her. She set Jeremy down on the chair and smiled. "I am going up to my room." She said, quickly turning with her mug of tea to walk up the stairs and into her room. She set down the tea on her nightstand and walked over to her closet. She double checked that no one was near and she pulled out her guitar, smiling at it. She walked out towards her deck and reached for the rope ladder she had made to the roof. She began to climb, slinging her stuff over the rooftop. She scrambled up and sat cross legged on the roof, pulling out the guitar and beginning to play.

At the word 'muffins' Stewart froze and gave a thousand yard stare as memories of toil surfaced "Muffins... nine bananas for every baker's dozen, one extra for every two additional participants." Stewart put his head in his hands as he continued " 1 tea spoon baking powder mixed with salt and one fourth of baking soda. But any more and the baking soda's flavor becomes the most prevalent taste in the dish, ruining it. Whisk three fourth a cup of brown sugar. Many prefer normal sugar but brown sugar is more natural, less dependant on preservatives to culture. Slightly less calories involved while keeping a satisfactory taste."

Stewart pulled out his rag and began wiping sweat from his head once more.

"About one stick of melted butter needed for additional softness and desirable texture, also giving a slightly creamy feeling to the dish. Too much butter and the Muffins will not hold their shape, they will crumble easily and make more of a mess than a meal. Too little butter and your muffins end up dry and unsatisfactory going down. Half a cup of banana and cream sugar... each slightly battered with egg. Two eggs needed in total to-"

Stewart continued ranting the instructions and requirements for baking muffins. Listing each and every thing that could go wrong and notably growing sweatier with each. His words became more frantic as he went on, slowly filling with his own fear of failure.

Tim had been swimming for a while swimming length after length thinking to himself mostly about random things. He eventually began to grow tired and swam to the edge and climbed out slowly and dried himself off before wrapping the towel around his waist and walking through the house getting another glass of juice on his way past the kitchen as water dripped down his back from his hair. He walked up the stairs to his room and dried himself off better this time before changing into shorts and a white t-shirt and then putting his mothers necklace back on before sitting himself down at his computer able to hear Valorie strumming away on her guitar. He had a soft spot for Val since she had been one of the few here when he first arrived 12 years ago. He listened to the strumming through his window while he worked on his computer on his own little project.

Zack stepped back. "Um, You know what, Forget it!" He paused thinking what he should have then. "Can I have a sugar pancake?" He asked, hoping that making this wasn't too confusing. He peeked through the door to see Anna playing with Jeremy, ruffling his hair and having childish conversations. He saw that Valorie wasn't there and walked up to Anna and Jeremy. "Where did Valorie go?" Anna replied immediately, "She went to her room," She winked at him and Zack blushed in response. He put his orange juice on the table next to the couch and called out to The Chef, "Call me when the pancake is ready!" And with that he ventured upstairs, into his room and listened. There was the distinct sound of a guitar. He smiled, knowing that that was Val. He took out his own guitar and opened his window. He took out one leg and climbed up on the roof. The sound came from the other side of the door. Zack listened too the tune she was playing and recognized it immediately. He started strumming quietly to the same tune and made his way to where she was. Zack sat down next to her, at a comfortable distance.

Valorie froze, hearing another guitar. She turned her face to see Zack on the roof with her. She instantly paled, her hands shaking. She looked away. 'How did you know I was up here." She said, her face pale and clammy. She thought she had been alone up here, and or no one heard her, but apparently she was wrong.

"Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not deaf, everyone can hear you, I guess... " He smiled. "You're really good, you don't have to be afraid to show it." He said, thinking that maybe this could be his chance. He started playing another tune. It was a love song. "You know this one?" He asked, looking down at the people playing soccer and just relaxing. Zack wasn't sure if she liked him, but he knew that he does like her.

Valorie slowly relaxed. "Yeah." She said softly, strumming the tune on her guitar. She was aware this was a love song, and she liked to sing love songs, though it was kind of hypocritical. The girl who can't love likes to sing love songs. Kind of ironic no? I guess it was a reminder to her that there was something, but she would never be able to feel it.

Zack started singing softly to the lyrics. He didn't mean for the lyrics to be said to her, but it sure looked like it. The lyrics went like:

"We crossed paths for a reason,"

"The
planets aligned in that particular season,"

"It's clear to me that we'll eventually be,"

"Inseparable...
"

Zack smiled and started another tune, and again sang to it:

"If you wanna say..."

"I like you,"

"I might feel,"

"Just like you..."

Zack was now blushing like crazy. He looked straight in her eyes, his eyes, showing nervousness and love. He waited for a reply, hoping for something that will make him feel less than an idiot.

Valorie opened her mouth, changing the tune on her guitar.

"I wish I could say I feel the same."

"But my heart is broken beyond repair."

"And I am left to pick up all the pieces."

"And all people do is stop and stare."

She sang. She was aware that those where not the words that belonged to any song, but it's what she felt in her heart. She would usually sing something a lot more upbeat and happy, but she was feeling kind of gloomy thing morning, even if the sun was shining.

(Sorry if that sounds really bad, I am not a song writer)

Zack moved closer, changing tune on his guitar:

"But if I was there,"

"I wouldn't stand there and stare,"

"I would be helping you,"

"Maybe even adding a small part of me,"

"That I was willing to share..."

He stopped and stood up, realizing that she probably doesn't feel the same:

"You might have loved and lost once, but that does not mean you cannot love another..."

Valorie looked down, her heart rate increasing. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it, lacking the will to sing something else. She thought for a while, then began to strum again.

"Last time someone picked up the pieces."

"The tossed them right back on the ground."

"I gave up looking for the will to fix them."

"And built a cage around me instead."

"And now I am alone in a cage."

"With no one willing to help me escape."

"I have been locked in here for days."

"And my mind leaves me with nothing to say."

She sang, trying not to cry.

Zack sat down again and sang again, moving his hand fluently back and forth of his guitar:

"I wonder if you've even tried to escape,"

"Trusted and accepted anyone,"

"Letting them in,"

"And if that person comes back,"

"I'll be there waiting for you,"

Zack stopped and said, "We've all been hurt here, could be parents or girlfriends/boyfriends, or even just friends. But it doesn't mean you can't try again..." His eyes pleaded for a straight answer, unsure if she was willing to try.

Valorie opened her mouth, her tongue fumbling for words. "I... well... I just can't." She said, beginning to cry as she picked up her guitar and scurried back down the ladder and into her room, placing her guitar back into the closet before rolling into her sheets and curling up, beginning to weep. She could feel her scar burning on her back.

"- but if the oven hadn't been thoroughly cleaned before hand then the scent of burnt food will mar them, providing it difficult to actually serve such wretched thing to an audience." Stewart continued in his squeamish little whispers, still in the same position "And if the timer is off by any thing out side a range of five seconds the food won't bake properly and you either have freezing goop or a scented, burnt toast-"

"Mr. Drennels?"

Steward's head darted up to see that Natalie had finally deemed it appropriate to requisition her food.

His eyes twitched as he withdrew from his muffin-fueled nightmares.

"Plain pancakes and scrambled eggs." She deadpanned

"Pancakes!?!" Steward gasped before turning around and procuring a pancake and immediately powdering it with light taps of sugar., he sniffed it nervously and shook with desperation before frowning and turning away from Natalie.

He raised his head and cupped his hands around his mouth before calling out in a loud voice " Zachary! Your plate is ready!!!"

He then turned back to Natalie and began making up her plate, he continued his muffin cooking rant"But if the estimated time of cooking is wrong in and of itself then it won't matter if the timer's right or not-!"

Natalie sighed and waited patiently for her breakfast to be ready.

After a while of working on his own project he was hungry again and he got up and went downstairs again into the kitchen spotting Stewart and Natalie. "Morning Natalie." He said in a surprisingly cheerful tone this morning, he was never usually this happy in the morning maybe that swim earlier had helped wake him up comepletely. He sat up on one of the counters that wasn't being used and watched Stewart cook. "Hey Stewart could I get some more pancakes when your not busy?" He asked grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.

Zack shouted back at The Chef, "Thanks! Be there in a second!" He felt so bad after Valorie ran off. He ran after her shortly after her, climbing through his window, opening the door and running down the hallway. After he had gotten to her bedroom door, Zack rested his ear against door to hear crying and the sound of bedroom duvet being moved. Zack knocked on her door, gently and half-shouted, half-whispered, "Valorie?" He paused, "I know this is probably the last voice you would want to hear, but please, I'm so sorry...Just please let me in..." Zack sighed, even his own eyeswere watery.

Veno couldn't help but smile at the young boy's excitement. "Yeah... Dolphins..." he said, trying to follow the conversation. When they finally arrived at the room, he inhaled for quite some time. He'd never seen any other person's room before, and he felt really weird going into one. He stepped in, closing his eyes tightly. He was always a bit scared of everyone else, even if he didn't show it. He slowly opened his eyes to see Gaia's room.

(Guess I'll have to write 4 lines for you every time then.)

Valorie unrolled herself from her cocoon and slowly opened the door a crack, going back to her bed and curling up again. She sniffled, trying not to cry as much, the back of her shirt lifted up a bit, the bottom of her scar showing from underneath her shirt. She sniffled again, her hands clutch onto her sheets, pulling them over her head.

Natalie ignored Tim and continued waiting quietly for her food as Steward massaged his head thoroughly. He turned toward the boy and gave him a passing glance before twitching and turning back to Natalie's plate "If there's any left after twelve minutes then you may have extra." he mumbled "Need to make sure everybody's had something or else Headmaster Cross will castrate me with one of the windows."

Natalie flinched slightly at the imagery Steward had unintentionally given her, this was pardoned once he passed her a plate of pancakes and eggs.

"Are you absolutely sure you don't want any toppings!?!" Steward asked with frantic eyes

Natalie nodded and slowly left the room with her food.

Steward watched her leave and began mumbling again as he waited for the next request.

Tim shrugged as he got no reply from Natalie and he slowly got off the counter. "Okay let me know if there are any left." Tim said before going into the living room and laying on a couch turning on the TV watching nothing in particular really as he munched slowly on the apple. He watched the news for a while before grabbing the remote and flicking through the channels a few time deeming that there was nothing on as he got up again. He went back up stairs to his room and sat down again at his computer putting his headphones on and turning his music up loudly his door left open.

"Isn't it the greatest room ever!" Gaia ran to the middle of the room and turned arms thrown wide open with an impish smile on his face. His room was buried in toys and sketch pads and on wall in facing the door sat a big TV on top of a beige dresser" So what to you want to do first?"

Outside Liz groaned as a piercing ray of sunshine got past the leaves that shielded her and into her eyes waking from the light doze she had fallen into. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes and groggily looked around. She noticed she was alone and even poncho was gone. Where did everyone go?

Zack opened the door wide and slowly crept in, immediately closing the door behind him. He took a look around his surroundings. Zack hadn't been in another room, apart from Anna's of course. He slowly walked closer to the bed and sat at the edge, giving her enough personal space. "I-I'm sorry about earlier..." Zack wasn't sure what else he could say. "It's just I've only felt the way I feel about you with one other person..." He muttered. Zack pulled the duvet a little so that he could see her face. His eyes began to get watery. "I-I just wanted you too know how I felt about you...I..." He paused, "I guess I'll j-just go now..." He stood up to leave.
