Realistic or Modern Abandoned

IceQueen

The Clawed Fauni
Ah, sunshine. Sometimes it's a glorious thing, sometimes they slap it on the name of an orphanage to make it seem happier. Welcome to Sunyside Orphan House. It's a little bit like an orphanage, but slightly less full of people. This is where my little slice of heaven is. Well, most of the time. You see, I am one of those unfortunate kids who has lived there there entire life. I have seen the passage of time, well in kids. One day, little Billy was walking in and the next, whsew, out the door and off to a home. I have always been here. But I don't really want to leave either. I like seeing kids come though here. Even though they come broken and lost, I can always make them seem at home, until "Someone" comes and bothers me. The "Someone" can be different, but the gender name usually start with a G or a B. Yep, boys. That was the one catch to her slice of peaceful life.

Now let's move on. Oh wait! I forgot to introduce myself. Name's Valorie, and I am the one that has been here the longest. Yep, a golden 15 years. Anyway, our story starts in the morning of a fine week into summer. Valorie yawned and opened her eyes, the sunlight streaming though the roof of her canopy spot. She had slept in the hammock because it was way to hot inside. She got up and got dressed, heading down for breakfast.

Veno ran downstairs immediately after waking up. He didn't like his room, since he was secluded most of the time, and avoided it as much as possible, other than when he wants to be secluded, and when he wants to think. Anyways, as he ran downstairs, he slipped on one of the stairs and fell down. His head was bleeding, but he immediately got back up, and ran into the bathroom. Yes, he has been holding it ever since he went to sleep.

Valorie sighed, hearing the familiar thump of Veno hitting his head. "You are cleaning this up!" She yelled, spotting a small slick of blood across the floor. She carefully stepped around it, walking down farther and ignoring anything else anyone had said to her. She just hoped this morning would go along smoothly.

Lucy yawned and rubbed her eyes. Her room was a little dark because of the close curtain that stop the sunlight coming in. She got up, with her favourite Teddy in hand, and walk towards the closed curtain. She opened them, letting the light fill her room. She squint her eyes a little bit, the sun was a little too bright this morning, and put her teddy back on the bed. "I guess it's time for breakfast soon," she mumbled to herself then walked to her closet. Lucy quickly got dress in simple short and t-shirt, and head towards the kitchen, hoping to see what's for breakfast this morning.

Veno walked outside of the bathroom, and saw the spot of blood he had created. He quickly wiped it away with the sleeve of his uniform, swearing that he would wash it later. His uniforms were precious to him, as if they were a part of his past he couldn't remember. As he pondered this, he began to unconsciously walk to the eating area... Or whatever it was called. Veno just liked to call it the eating area. He sat down, drumming his fingers on the table.

Veno looked at the stain on his sleeve again. It looked... Frightening. Almost as if he had some sort of memory of it. He lightly slapped his cheeks, making him think of other things. Like... What he had dreamed that night. He began to daydream and finish his dream from the night before.

Gaia giggled happily his bunny held tight in his arms as he ran down the house towards his sisters room. It was such a nice day and he couldn't wait until he could go out and explore but sissy Lizzy said he had to wait until she finished breakfast. Which was such a shame as yesterday he found a hole in the fence and he really wanted to find out What was on the other side. He soon made it to the large brown door that led to his sisters room, and opened it.

Walking in on silent foot steps, wanting to surprise Lizzy if she was up eagerly he looked around for her his large smile lighting up the room. He giggled seeing her buried beneath her blanket. Only her arm stuck out. Walking over on his tip toes to the edge of the bed to where he thought her head was he leaned closer and screamed.

"AAAHHHHH!" Lizzy screamed startled from her nice dream of her parents and her playing on the beach By a terrifying scream. Sitting up she looked around wildly for the source stopping when she heard her favorite sound. Gaias laughter. Looking down she found her little brother rolling on the floor with laughter.

Growling playfully she pounced from her bed onto her mischievous imp of a brother and started tickling him in revenge for his rude awakening. She listened to his laughter happily letting up when after a moment Gaia began to gasp for breath. Leaning down after he recovered closer to his ear she whispered."The last one to breakfast is a rotteni egg."

Getting off him she began running to the dining room Gaia close behind. Their laughter filled the house as They ran. It was a great start to a wonderful day.

Samuel woke up with a groan, his body feeling stiff and a cramp in his left leg. He lay there in bed, not by choice but because he didn't feel like he could move. As I something weighted down his joints. However he tried to push himself gradually making small movements with his legs and arms which got him into a sitting position.

He sighed rubbing his eyes before looking at his bedside counter were a glass of water and two pills. One helped him move about and function in the morning while the other dealt with the side effects of the other. He took them both and sat there on the bed for another 10 minutes before finding the strength to get up. He wore a tshirt and then struggled for 5 minutes just to button his jeans closed. He breathed a sigh of relief for another day of being able to get out of bed. He stepped out his room and went slowly to the dinning area.

Tim heard the others stirring in the house and he let out a groan of discontent. "Hmm either I sleep more and just miss breakfast or I go down there and endure another noisy morning." He said but his mind was quickly made up as he felt the grumble of his stomach and he got up and got somewhat dress in a t-shirt and shorts making sure he had his mothers necklace with him as well. He went downstairs still half asleep really as he yawned and ran a hand through his hair. He walked into the dining area and sat down away at a seat that was a few away from the others. He wasn't ready for other people yet this morning but he was ready for food. He sat there blinking slowly trying to blink the sleep out of his eyes.

Jeremy lazily got out of bed, letting out a cute little yawn. He is wearing a blue cat suit, his favorite, and sucking on his pacifier. Most people think that he's too old for it, but he still won't let go of it. He went to his pile of stuffed toys and plushies, looking for one that he will bring. He decided to get a kitten plushie. Hugging it, he went downstairs, really hungry. He looked around, looking for food. He saw Valorie, which he endearingly calls Val. Knowing she knows where the food is, he followed her, tugging her skirt. "Hungry." He said looking up at her.

Val was about to sit down when she felt a tug on her pants (Kill me if I ever wear a skirt) and she smiled. "Morning Jer." She said, hoisting him up on her side and carrying him into the dining room. She sat down at her chair, Jeremy still clung to her side. She yawned, rubbing her eyes a bit as she smiled at the others. "Morning Tim, Samuel, Veno." She said, leaning back.

Veno noticed himself looking around at all the other people in the eating area. There was quite a site. A boy sitting away from the others, another boy coming in through the doorway to the dining area, a little boy talking to a girl, and two little kids running around laughing. Quite a nice, energetic morning. He smiled as he felt his head go down and hit the table. Guess he was a bit sleepy... He began to doze off, waiting for the food.

(By the way, @Icefox11 , you spelled Veno's name wrong xD )

Valentina had an early start to the day every morning she would awake around 5am to get to the rest of her cleaning projects she didn't complete the night before done, which was an everyday thing. With many children in the home and not enough time in the day she most likely finished her tasks the next morning. In the living room she dusted, cleaned around the furniture, and moved certain objects out of the way making it was more safe for the younger ones. Last night she had went out to get safety socket covers for the outlets not wanting anyone to hurt themselves especially the infants Sunnyside had taken in. Hearing footsteps she knew the children would be in the kitchen by now waiting on breakfast to be served, always having a soft spot for children she always had one on one conversations with them or just talked to them altogether. Walking into the kitchen she smiling sweetly looking at all the children sitting around the table. "Good Morning! Valorie, Veno, Lucy, Gaia, Samuel, Lizzy, Tim, Jeremy. Did everyone sleep well last night?"

Tim sits there quietly rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Morning." He mumbles back to Valorie and Valentina. "Just the usual few hours." He says answering Valentina's question as he leans back in his seat tilting his head back on the chair another yawn coming from him as he closed his eyes for a few moments before opening them and standing again to go get himself a glass of juice. He then sits back down in his seat feeling a little more awake now, than I had been a few minutes earlier. He offered a smile to the people around the table, that weren't extremely noisy.

Zack had just woken up. He grunted to the already familiar noise downstairs. This life was going to be good. He always sleeps without his shirt on, so he quickly chucked on a boys tank top, revealing his tattoos. He trudged out of his room, opening the creaky door. He quickly peeked into Anna's room. He saw a small lump in the bed and smiled to himself. He walked up carefully. "Anna, baby?" He asked, stroking his cheek. She twitched at the sudden touch and opened her small eyes. "Good Morning, Zackie..." She mumbled, still half asleep. "Let's go get some breakfast, that will wake you up..." Zack took her hand and pulled her gently up. They walked down the stairs and soon saw the opening of where all the people were. Suddenly, the room went silent as they saw Zack and Anna. Their eyes lingered on Zack for a moment longer. He got the impression that they thought he was weird and scary. Probably his tattoos and piercing. Anna ran off to Valorie and Gaia. She immediately started talking. Zack grunted a good morning to the people staring at him, and sat on the couch that nobody was at.

Samuel gave a sheepish groan as greeting to everyone in the dinning room, shuffling past them into the kitchen to have breakfast. He had a look at the chef selection of pastries picking out some scones and jam and walked back to the dinning hall and sat down to eat. He made an attempt to cut the scones in half but his right hand was shaking making him cut his thumb. "Ouch."He muttered taking a napkin to wipe the blood."Mother..."

Valorie leaned back in her chair, smiling at Anna. "Good morning lovely." she said jokingly, her hand one arm wrapping her in a big hug. She smiled, happy to see them both up. "Morning to you too Zach." She said, her eyes lingering on his form for a moment, but just long enough to send a large smile his way before going back to talking with Anna.

Gaia and Liz stopped running when everyone went quite. Unnerved by the sudden silence they turned to look at what caught everyone's attention but just saw Zach and Anna sharing a confused glance they shrugged it off but didn't go back to playing. Liz took one of the empty seats at the table wanting to take a moment to relax after her exciting wake up call. Gaia on the other hand smiled at Zach and ran over to Anna and Valerie. The two kids started talking excitedly about their plans for the day.

Zack smiled back at Gaia and Valorie. At least someone accepted him. He stood up and walked up to them. Zack wanted to impress Valorie.

"Um, Anyone want any breakfast?" He asked kindly, pointing to the pastries.

He looked at Val as she called Anne lovely. "Her name is not lovely, it's Anne!" He said, giggling at Val's silliness. He practically stayed in her lap the whole time, playing with his toy. He looked at Zack as he said breakfast, his stomach growling. "Oh oh, me me!" He said, raising his hand.

Gaia was interrupted mid sentence by his growling stomach. Smiling sheepishly at his friends he turned and made a run for the pastries meeting his equally hungry sister halfway. They both grabbed one said thinks to Zack then went back to what they were doing before mouths now full of delicious pastries.

The Main course for breakfast was late, and the chef finishing it was barely coherent at the moment. Natalie watched in a mixture of awe and confusion as Stewart rearranged the positioning of the meal over and over again.

"Hash browns to the left, eggs up top, Pancakes centered- NO! The smells won't compliment each other." Stewart said as he took a rag from his pocket ad wiped up some of the sweat he as constantly producing.

"Mr. Drennels?" Natalie asked

"Maybe the spices will dribble into the pancakes, their is nowhere for them to go!" Stewart frantically dabbed at the edges of a plate of eggs with a clean napkin, soaking up a bit of run off as Natalie placed a hand to her stomach slowly.

" Sir?" she asked again

"If Headmaster Cross sees the horrendous state these hash browns are in he'll fire me on the spot!" Stewart proclaimed before bursting out into full sobbing.

Natalie hadn't gone for the snacks served before the main course, opting to try and get Mr. Drennels to let her help in the kitchen. His phobia of Headmaster Cross seeing and firing him for improper care had always halted him beforehand but you never know when a person could change their minds.

But now Natalie had gone too long with a food, and the delicious scent that wafted from the chef's cooking had already set her stomach rumbling.

"I'm fairly certain the Headmaster would prefer that over having nothing." she muttered as she took in the sight of the glistening meal, practically sparkling with the radiance of perfection.

At her words Stewart froze before spinning on her frantically, "What's that supposed to mean!?!"

"Well its just that Headmaster Cross usually picks up his breakfast right about now, and-"

She was interrupted by the loud horrendous gasp that Stewart gave as he shot towards the clock, seeing that she was correct on the time he let a strangled squeal.

......................

Upstairs, Arnold pushed open his door and massaged the back of his neck. He moistened his lips a bit before closing the door behind him and folding his arms behind his back, he made his way over to the stairs and began descending as he began humming passively.

.......................

"Maybe you could slow down a bit Mr. Drennels!?!" Natalie panted as she tried to keep up with the surprisingly speedy cook as he wheeled a large cart to the Dining Room.

"He'll skin me, humiliate me, bastardize me in ways I've only seen in my nightmares!" Stewart spouted wildly as he turned a corner, there it was the partially filled dining room.

The Headmaster hadn't gotten their yet!

Stewart began laughing in victory as he picked up the pace.

"Sir, slow down!"

Stewart was about to pass off the information when he realized just how close the table was.

He immediately applied the stoppers to the breaks and tried to slow down.

The cart slung forward slower and slower before finally causing several inches from the side of the table.

Stewart peaked out from behind the cart before giving a sigh of relief.

Natalie trotted up behind him and gave a glance around the room at the kids already assembled there before composing herself and turning to Stewart "Are you alright sir?"

Stewart nodded as he took out his sweat rag once more, wiping his face as he began laughing half-heartedly.

And then noticed th wheel tracks in the floor.

His heart dropped immediately.

From the point he had applied the stoppers all the way to the table were wheel marks in the floor.

Stewart reached out a hand disbelievingly, but stopped when the humming reached his ears.

He wheeled around to spot Headmaster Cross trotting over to them slowly, an ever present smile on his face as he hummed.

"Please sir! I didn't think, it was stupid, spare me thine wrath!" Stewart said as he literally threw himself to the floor and begged for mercy.

Headmaster Cross walked past him to the cart, pulled a section out and retrieved his plate of breakfast. He admired how nice it looked for a moment before turning, sighing in content, and making his way back out of the room.

"I'll be having my breakfast outside Mr. Drennels." Arnold said "Make sure all the kids get something."

And with that, Arnold Cross took his leave.

Stewart blinked frantically several times, but quickly got to work setting up plates.

Natalie tried to help, but Stewart waved her off frantically.

She settled for standing near the door and waiting for a chance to get her meal.

"Chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries on top please. Liz and Gaia chorused seeing Chef making their plates. They stared at each other blankly for a moment before bursting out in giggles. They both had a big sweet tooth and liked the same thing so almost always did this.

Stewart muttered to himself incoherently as he set up, he'd occasionally ask himself things before shaking his head. He put on some sanitary gloves before sliding several pancakes onto two plates.

Were they chocolate chip? They seemed to have a slightly small average of chocolate in them than several others but they seemed to be the correct brand.

Stewart breathed heavily as he sat a few strawberries on top of both , then spent a good three minutes positioning them into a proper and appealing look. He sat the two plates on the table, gestured for the two to go for it and proceeded onto the next plates.
