A Regressive Bet

Heart warming, Gabriel scooped up Sam and placed him on his hip, "Alright, dimples. Let's go play some more, shall we?" the archangel offered as he made his way to the living room.

Sam let out a small yawn when he was placed on the floor. Looking up at Gabriel, the baby boy let out another yawn and rubbed his eyes tiredly.

"Eh, I wasn't feeling like playing either," Gabriel remarked as he took his sleepy little one and cuddled him close on the futon, covering a blanket over both of them. Wrapped in their own cocoon of mutual love and comfort, both of them felt happier than ever.

Sam woke up the next morning with a smile and a gurgle, looking up and seeing Daddy Gabe smiling at him. He squirmed happily, and made grabby hands at Daddy.

"Morning, kiddo!" Gabriel chimed as he took Sam from his crib and planted a loud kiss on the taller's cheek. The archangel loved being Sam's caretaker/Daddy, and wanting nothing more.

Checking Sam's diaper, and finding it wet, Gabriel tsked playfully as he exchanged the soiled garment for a fresh one.

Finished dressing Sam, Gabriel placed him on his hip and headed to the kitchen. Sitting Sam in his highchair, the archangel ruffled his hair and gave his baby boy a bottle to drink while breakfast was being made.

Sam had a bit of difficulty holding his bottle, but eventually got the hang of it, gripping it, and guzzling down the contents, finishing with a burp.

Bringing the food over to the table, Gabriel leaned forward and kissed Sam's cheek, "Good one." he praised. Sam was pretty cute, along with smart. After all, he could hold the bottle all on his own.

Cutting up a pancake into small pieces, the archangel grinned idiotically, "Here comes the plane!"

Sam smiled and opened his mouth, so the "plane" could fly in. He loved being fed like this, it made him feel really special.

Feeding Sam a few more times like that, the pancake was soon gone. Wiping the sticky, syrupy mess from the hazel-eyed man's face, Gabriel's mouth turned upwards, "You're a good eater, baby." The endearment "baby" slipped from the archangel's tongue, and while it felt foreign for the moment, it soon because something natural.

Said archangel waved a flamboyant hand, "Oh, stop it you." he gushed as he caught Sam's kisses once more. Taking the taller out of the highchair, Gabriel sprinkled kisses all along Sam's face in return.

Sam giggled and squealed, squirming in Gabriel's arms. He turned his head and looked out the door. It was really pretty outside. Maybe Gabriel would take him out for a while?

The golden-eyed angel rolled his eyes fondly when he noticed Sam looking out the door, "I see you eyein' it, Sam. Yeah, let's go outside, huh?" Leaving the house, and going into the backyard, Gabriel was almost in awe of how beautiful it was outside. Clouds made all sorts of different shapes, and flowers of different colors bloomed everywhere.

Sam's eyes widened and he let out a gurgle, squirming in Gabriel's arms, wanting to get down and crawl around in the flowers.

Letting Sam go, and placing him on the grass, Gabriel smiled to himself as he kept an eye on his baby boy. Being a Daddy was pretty awesome, it seemed.

Sammy cooed as he started to crawl around on the soft grass, plopping down onto his bottom, when he started to get tired of crawling. Whining softly, Sam made grabby hands for Gabriel.

"Knew you couldn't get tired of me," the archangel commented cheerfully, as he picked up Sam and held him on his hip. Walking around the yard, Gabriel pointed to all the birds in the trees, telling Sam all about them.

Gabriel felt his heart warm at Sam's complete wonder and innocence regarding the world around him. It had been a long time since he had witnessed something like that...and it made the archangel feel renewed.

Running his fingers through Sam's hair, feeling how soft and smooth it was, Gabriel smiled, "Pretty cool, huh?"

Rolling his eyes fondly at his baby boy, Gabriel brought Sam inside and exchanged the soiled diaper for a fresh one. Once he was finished, the archangel gently tickled the younger's tummy.

Throwing his head back in laughter, Gabriel grinned, "Geez, kiddo. You're really ticklish."

Soon surrendering, the archangel picked up Sam once more and asked, "Wanna go back outside?"
