A Regressive Bet

Smiling at Sam's giggles, Gabriel said, "See? There's some other toys like that too," the archangel brought over some other ones that did the same. Some rattled, some crinkled, and a few played music. "Have fun, kiddo."

Sam cooed softly and picked up a little rattle ring with a plush ducky head attached to it, and started to shake it, giggling at the sound it made.

He's kinda cute, the archangel mused, watching Sam play with his toys. Maybe being a caretaker was better than Gabriel had originally thought...

Pressing a small button on one of the toys, the golden-eyed man smiled softly as it started to play music. He hoped Sam liked it.

Sam let out a startled gasp, and started to cry, the sudden, cheery music scaring him. He wasn't exactly scared of the music, he just wasn't expecting it.

Mentally slapping himself, Gabriel quickly turned the toy off, letting the music die down, before pulling Sam into his arms, "Hey, shhh...sorry, kiddo. Didn't mean to scare you!"

Probably shouldn't have done that, the archangel grimaced.

Rubbing small circles along the younger's back, the archangel breathed a bittersweet laugh, "Next time I'll warn ya, kiddo. Or you can do the honors."

Once it seemed like Sam had calmed down enough, Gabriel pulled back a bit and carefully wiped the tear stains from the taller's cheeks, "You alright?"

Sam nodded and leaned into Gabe, gently nuzzling him, and letting out a soft gurgle. Maybe being a baby wasn't so bad, after all.

Heart warming at the taller nuzzling him, Gabriel asked, "Wanna keep playing with your toys? Or do somethin' else?"

Sam just continued to lean against the angel, not really feeling like playing at the moment. He really just wanted to cuddle.

Having a feeling like the taller wanted to cuddle, Gabriel grunted, "Alright, kiddo. Cuddle time." Settling into the soft cushions of the couch, the archangel smiled to himself. He wouldn't have gotten to do this with anyone. Admittedly, Gabriel was kinda lonely sometimes.

Sam let out a soft gurgle, as he rested his head against Gabriel's chest, reaching up, and loosly gripping the archangel's shirt, his large fingers curling around it.

"You're kinda cute..." the golden-eyed man murmured, smoothing Sam's hair. Damn, it was long. Of course, the archangel had known it was long before...but actually being close to the former hunter made him realize that no wonder Dean used to get after him about it.

Sam looked up at Gabriel and smiled, enjoying the way that he played with his hair. No one had ever done that before. It felt nice.

Making a satisfied sound in his throat, the archangel continued to cuddle Sam closer and played with his hair some more. Honestly, this bet was going to be easier and easier to win. Plus, taking care of the former hunter was kind of fun.

Sam smiled and looked up at Gabriel, letting out a soft coo, and squirming a bit, as he let out a small yawn. All this cuddling was starting to make Sam sleepy.

Hearing Sam's yawn, Gabriel managed to get off from the couch, while still keeping the hazel-eyed man wrapped around him. Going to the nursery, the archangel laid Sam down in his crib, giving the little one a pacifier and a plushie to hold.

Kissing the younger's forehead, heart swelling with affection, Gabriel's eyes glittered, "Have a good nap, kiddo."

Sam rolled over and gently suckled on the pacifier, the gentle sucking rythym, helping him to quickly fall asleep. He didn't really wanna take a nap, but was too tired to do anything else.

Leaving the nursery quietly, Gabriel went to do his own things as Sam slept. This caretaking thing was better than he thought...

A few hours later, Sam woke up crying, squirming uncomfortably, in his dirty diaper. The warm, squishy feeling and the foul smell was so overwhelming to poor Sammy.

Hearing Sam's cries, Gabriel hurried to the nursery and saw Sam's uncomfortable squirms. Smelling the foul odor, the archangel sighed softly and removed the younger from his crib.

"Shhh...don't worry, Sammoose. I got this," Gabriel soothed, as he changed Sam into a clean diaper. "There, feel better?" he asked, once he was finished.

Sam was still unhappy. He wasn't feeling well, and had a bit of a headache, his nose felt stuffy and it was getting hard to breathe. Looking up at Gabriel, Sam's lower lip wobbled and tears formed in the corners of his eyes.

Frowning, and feeling Sam's forehead, and seeing it was warm, Gabriel wiped the tears from the younger's eyes with a tissue. "Don't worry, kiddo. I got some medicine that'll take care of that. It won't taste good, though."

Carrying Sam to the bathroom, and opening the medicine cabinet, the archangel managed to find some liquid medicine for headaches and congestion. It seemed like the little one was having a head cold.

Spooning some of the disgusting substance, Gabriel grimaced in sympathy, "Sorry, Sam."

Sam gagged and tried to spit out the medicine, but Gabriel kept his hand there, so he had no choice but to swallow.
