There wasn't much one can do with a flying spike of ice than getting the hell out of the way, of which Joshua did exactly.

"Whoa! Careful with that!"

Joshua was hoping for something a bit less exciting, but one would suppose this is a better way to go about it when it come to practicality.

From his inventory, he called out his diary, now doubles as a note book, he urgently flipped thought it's pages while gaining distance from Roku. He remembered taking notes on the key words used it a spell and he thanked god that he had gotten bored of simply taking notes and drew some pictures to accompany them with.

With one hand holding his diary and the other outstretched. This one spell he had wanted to try the moment he laid eyes on it. He had thought that it was impossible at first, but once he calmed down he saw the possibilities of how to pull it off.

"Alright, I'm ready!"

He began reciting the spell.

"Aether..."

He remembered how they looked like, a mix of air and light, condensed together to form an object.

"Create..."

She had summoned them out of nowhere, surely, they must be created by her own magic.

"Remain..."

For the most part they simply floated there, dormant till she commanded them to be something else. She hadn't used any spells back then, it was as if she simply willed them to act, that was what confused him the most. But right now, he's sure he could recreate it with magic as he knows it. More power was put into this one, they needed to be solid, though they are ethereal.

"Pierce!"

And the finishing touche, to refine the edges.

"Astral Projection!"

And then... Poof, nothing.

"... Uh, Roku, I may need to borrow those gloves of yours."

Kala had been so completely spaced out to the point where she didn't remember where she was for a moment. As her mind reentered the 'real' world, she looked around. Her eyes first landed on Joshua learning magic from Roku and then to an upset and worried Orlando. What was wrong with him she wondered. He had seemed quite off since they arrived here in Rok's domain, so perhaps she should talk to him an find out why and what was going on.

Kala's feet began to move, and before she knew it, she was on her way to Orlando. Within a few seconds, she'd be a foot or so away from him and her duo colored eyes looking at the wood in his hand.
"What are you making?" She asked him. A simply question for now, then she would ask him about what was troubling him.

@Clockwork Syringe

((Sorry it's so short x.x))

((It's fine))

Orlando was surprised to hear Kala's voice so he looked up to see her standing over him. It was odd that she was over here talking to him about his craft instead of having fun over with Roku and Joshua. "I'm woodcarving, a hobby I just learned I possessed apparently, trying to make some sort of talisman or small thing or something. I have not had much free time this journey what with being ambushed, and trying to survive at the top of the occurrence list, so I'm trying to make the best of my time currently.

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala tilted her head to the side. "Huh. Never figured you'd be a wood carver." She teased him lightly. "But I'm sure you're enjoying the time we have right now to relax. I know I tried to." She admitted as she watched him carve away the the wooden block. She was curious how he learned to do that as well was she concerned about him. Orlando was a dear friend..one she cared deeply about, and him acting so strange and off was..unusual. Maybe it was because he too needed this small break away from the chaos around them? Surely that's what it was, or what she hoped it was. Kala too a seat next to him, her eyes moving from the wood to his face. "So..what's wrong?" She asked, her voice showing the concern she had for him.

@Clockwor Syringe

There it was, the question she had asked and the one he had been avoiding to mention. Orlando took a deep breath and began to speak, "New revelations have come to light, both personal, and for the group itself. We finally figured out, or at least have a very good guess as to who the puppeteers we were thinking about, It's the Order of the Pheonix. They're most likely the ones who manipulated all those denizens into both attacking us while en route to battle Rok, and when they stormed the town 2 nights ago. They're also a religious faction that everyone seems to be turning to in this time of doubt and fear. We're going to have to fight them eventually, but we're in no state to do so if they catch up with us. That's one of the things weighing on my mind currently." Before Orlando began to speak of the second and more personal trouble, he began to tighten his grip on the wood he had been working on. He turned to face her so she would understand the full gravitas of the problem he was facing. "Do you remember earlier when we were facing those goblins and how I suddenly began to change tactics to fighting the leader? Just before that, a sudden rush rose from within me as if it was encouraging me to fight and fight the goblins. I quelled it down, but I was still curious as to why all of a sudden it had surfaced then and there. So when we got here, I went off to quell my suspicions and try to figure out what was the matter. Needless to say, I found my answer within this temple as to the sudden rush.

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala listened to his words intently. So she was right..there was a puppeteer playing and narrating things in the background. As Orlando spoke, the danger was clear..and they had to keep moving or risk others. As Orlando turned toward her, she could only expect this next part was going to be far worse that what he had just said. To his question, Kala would nod. She remembered how he changed back then, but she didn't question it as she figured he was trying something new. As Orlando told her of his other personality, she could only be shocked. he was just like here in way. This was bad..and dangerous for the others in their group. "That is..quite concerning.." She said, and that was all she could manage right now as she was just too perplexed to say much more.

@Clockwork Syringe

All of a sudden, the voice returned amidst Orlando's conversation with Kala. "Orlando what are you doing?! She mustn't know I exist! Now there's the risk that she'll tell the rest of the group! We need to do something about this! ~Calm yourself, she's a lot like us as a matter of fact,~ Orlando mentally said. ~She also has a similar entity like yourself within her, at least that's what she told me. She's also told only me and I've not told anyone, apart from you about this so she trusts me.~ Oh fine, if she's a lot like you and that she possesses someone or something similar to our situation, I guess it's fine to have two bird of a feather conversing about this. However, she can't tell anyone else about this, much like how you couldn't tell anyone about hers, even though I technically don't count. Orlando began speaking to Kala in a more hushed voice, "the thing is, I've got this voice within my mind that just started speaking today to me. It's sentient, experiences through my senses, and sometimes it'll chime in when it pleases, but not the other way around. I'm not sure how this sounds to you currently coming from me. Several days ago, we all met and formed a party, but the leadership role was thrust upon me and now everyone in the group is counting on me to make the hard decisions, the tough calls, and if they were to learn of this, I don't know how to begin to explain this. It's just so worrying, given the recent events as well.

@xEmoBunnehx

Roku's visible eye twitched slightly before she finished up her incantation. A series of colored orbs floated around her body in a defensive pattern. She kicked the bottom of her staff and spun it in a circle before tossing it towards Joshua. It landed halfway between the two of them and Roku similarly removed her own gloves. "Well this will be a good time to use my new skill," She said calmly.

She began to wave her hands on occasion and stopped as she held a position where her mana entered into an orb between her hands. She began to repeatedly chant the same words, "Fire, Project, Bullet, Pirece, Chain, Fire, Project, Bullet, Pirece," The energy continued to grow in her hands as she continued to repeat this mantra.

She then pushed her hand outward and said in a voice that sounded slightly different than her own, "Scorching Ray!" A pure beam of energy shot out from her hand And flew towards where ever her target happened to be located. Roku's mind began to desensitize to the situation, Joshua was simply a target and It would be killed if Roku had anything to say about it. Roku's visible eye had changed from it's usual blue color into a pale green Though it was difficult to notice such a change right away.

@revior @xEmoBunnehx @Clockwork Syringe @Kel Vas @Vulpes

"Eeeeeeek!"

A high pitched scream echoed throughout the dueling room. If one did not see where it came from, one would have mistaken it to be from a girl. But alas, there's no damsel in distress here, there is only Joshua making noises he normally wouldn't while ducking away from a streak of fire.

"Damn, Roku, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to murder me. Again."

It was pretty damn close too, since his attention was on the staff that had been so kindly provided for him.

"But I suppose you're one of those, the type that looks a sweet and innocent, but secretly likes it rough. Well, it's been a while since I get to fight seriously too and I'm just happened to be in the mood to take it hard."

When was it that Joshua got to fight seriously, testing his skills against opponents. That would have to be when the denizens attack wasn't it. Even though there were were many more fights after it, Joshua never did gave it his all in any of them after. Perhaps, just perhaps, he was feeling guilty about it after all.

"Aether, Create, Remain, Pierce. Astral Projection."

And a dozen swords as if made of light and air descends from heaven, floating above their summoner awaiting for command. One more appeared right in front of the one that had summoned it, and thought it seemed like the sword cannot be grabbed, the summoner took it by it's hilt and felt a slight weight behind it, though it felt almost like air.

It was a crude recreation of Kitsara's magic. Joshua had been dying to try it out even since she had left and in fact, the magic lesson was partially an excuse to experiment with it. And now that he had done it, he wondered, was there a need to make them swords? After all, blasting ethereal energy at enemies seem just as effective. Perhaps have a predetermined form gave it an additional quality? Or perhaps it allows the caster a better vision for how his spell will act? So many question, but now is not the time to answer them, he'll just have to get a feel for it in combat and who knows, maybe Roku is right, nothing teaches one magic like battles.

"Ready or not, here I come!"

"Aether, Manipulate, Bullet, Disperse."

And the swords above rained down upon the target, exploding into deadly shards of of light upon impact.

But Joshua did not stop there, with the ethereal sword in his hand, he charged at Roku with she was distracted by the assault from above, intending to disrupt her casting by attacking up close.

@Lana Valentine @Clockwork Syringe @xEmoBunnehx @Vulpes

Roku smiled slightly, Hmm seems I was misinformed to the real reason for this exercise. Her right hand chucked one of the orbs that still surrounded herself towards the swords that rained from above. The orb shattered upon impact with one of the swords and exploded outward negating the rest. Whew got lucky there... She thought before backflipping away from Joshua's incoming attack.

She winced however as she readjusted herself a few feet away, her leg trailing some blood after being hit by the energy from the astral sword. Roku gestured her hands together before quickly speaking, "Dark, Create, Remain, Disperse!" She slammed her hands downward and smirked confidently.

A series of skeletal hands erupted from the ground near Joshua and started to reach for him. They attempted to pin his movement's and drag him into the dirt itself, Roku continued to chant another series of words her eyes focused on her task.

Sweat formed along her brow and Roku's breathing had started to grow heavier, Curse my worthless stamina! I need to grow stronger and destroy all whom stand in our way! Roku's inner voice shouted in anger towards herself, there was a part of Roku that despised her failings, She needed to be strong, to not hold the others back due to her weakness. I will not Fail anyone ever again! She mentally shouted at herself as her mind continued to flood with multiple emotions and desires, some that felt like who Roku was now and others that seemed to bubble up from the darkness of her memories that still remained sealed away.

"Tch!"

Joshua instinctively clicked his tongue when his spell back fired, he'll have to position them further apart the next time he does the same thing. Regardless, it should still give him enough time to close in and all he needs to do is to land one single hit, or so he thought. But Roku proved to be more agile than he gave her credit for. I mean seriously, he thought, a backflip!? Even I can't pull that off. And even worse is that she had gained enough distance for another spell one involving skeleton hands pulling and dragging one into the ground.

"Yep, this is too creepy for me."

The thin, fleshless, fingers, pulling at him so lively, yet so very dead. Uncanny does not even begin to describe it. But Joshua had gotten over ever worse fears as of late, being dragged into the grave isn't something to be worried about, at least when his head is still above ground. Beside, the spell ends once the caster stops supplying it with mana right? At that moment, Joshua made the decision of ignoring the skeletons and instead focus on Roku.

"Aether, Manipulate, Spread, Pierce, Chain! Void, Create, Remain, Consume."

Joshua stuck Roku's staff into the ground, letting it stand there as he removes his hand from it. Now, in one hand, he holds an ethereal bow and the sword in the other had turned into an arrow. With the arrow in place, he draws the bow heavily, the tip of the arrow shines brighter as it was drawn. It should have been a waste of time to make it a bow and arrow, he should have just shot it like magic, but somehow, he felt that he could me more accurate with something he was more familiar with. And Joshua, for a moment, halted his breath and then, release, and the arrow, taking all of the energy including that which made up the bow, flew forward towards Roku. Mid-flight, the arrow spreads into a dozen, like a ballistic missile. Surely, Roku could not block them all, could she? But it matters not, for even that is taken into account. Sorry, Deren buddy, looks like I'll be debuting your spell. Just as the arrows got close to Roku, another change occur. The arrows changed into spiraling dark orbs with white, red, and blue lights within them, like a miniature galaxy. These orbs suck in all in their path, all the while floating slowly towards Roku.

@Lana Valentine @Clockwork Syringe @xEmoBunnehx @Vulpes

Roku's eye twitched again, Oh Roku, Mind teaching me some magic? It feels like I don't know anything compared to everyone else, My arse!! Roku pushed her other hand outward and fired the remaining orbs that still surrounded herself towards the incoming attack. Her eye twitched again as they exploded causing a small chain reaction and created an intense explosion of energy. The energy hit Roku hard forcing her backwards and crunching into the wall behind her.

She coughed a few times as some blood hit the floor afterward. She clasped her hands together before speaking a series of words, "Earth, Create, Spread, Disperse, Chain, Earth, Project, Bullet, Consume," A sudden storm of sand appeared around Roku that instantly launched forward in a blast attempting to bind and then crush Joshua to death. "Sand Burial," She said with the briefest of smirks.

I wonder if this will really work, damn me for only remembering bits and pieces. At least I'm recalling something, She thought as she began to chant out a healing spell under her breath to cure her wounds from the explosion just moments before.

(( I couldn't resist invoking such an attack when I realized it was possible owo ))

@Kel Vas @revior @Clockwork Syringe @xEmoBunnehx @Vulpes

Deren stared vacantly at the floor as Joshua approached him, resisting the instinctual response to glare at him as he obnoxiously patted his shoulder. Deren tried to convince himself that Joshua was trying to be supportive, however Deren hadn't missed any chances for anything really. What was Joshua suggesting?

Deren could only assume that Joshua was mocking him in some way. He gave Joshua's back a piercing stare as he walked away. He repeated his previous spell, hoping create another shady orb, however, this time he siphoned most of his mana into creating the orb, and almost none into its consuming properties. This was suposed to result in a very large void orb, twice as large as Deren,with very little danger, it would hardly be able to tear clothes. He spun around and hurled his spell at Joshua as it was forming, imagining that it would send another void orb at Joshua, 'payback for the arrow by my feet' he thought, confidently believing that his spell would not damage Joshua at all and would be the same as it was before.

@revior (you decide what happens in the spell revior, just remember it's big and weak. Unless something goes catastrophically wrong, Joshua will not be harmed.)

The sand wrapped around Joshua, cradling him tightly, allowing no escape. Yet, even when as he was being covered in the merciless sand, buried by it, he showed no sign of panic. And now, with Joshua trapped within, the body of sand hovers in mid air, close to the ground. Perhaps there are those awaiting his next move, perhaps there are those believing that the out come is clear. But there was no way to tell what he is currently doing within.

Then, a small black orb floats by, towards the cocoon made of sand. Looking at it's direction, it was clearly aimed towards Joshua. Was it trying to attack Joshua, if that is the cast, then it is too late, he is, as anyone can see, encased in sand. But perhaps it's not there to harm him, but to save him. Whatever was the intention for this tiny little orb, it had reached the cocoon of sand that is cradling Joshua even so tightly. And upon contact, the orb disappeared, faded away doing next to nothing, that is, of course, not exactly nothing.

Where the orb made contact, a small crack appeared, the tiniest of cracks. This crack continued to grown, being torn further by the weight of the sand cocoon and the one within and then, it breaks. Joshua emerges form the cocoon, unmoving, without motion, and his expression was the same as when he had entered. Then he fell, down onto the sandy floor.

He can feel his head throbbing, his bone stings as if someone had stuck a thousand needles into his every joint, his flesh burns as if he had been thrown into a volcano, and his muscles feels as if it was threatening to tear itself apart, like being bitten by hundreds of micro sized sharks. And then there is his nose, broken and bleeding from the nostrils, for he had fell flat onto the ground face first. Yet amongst all this, he could as much a make a grunt. He isn't dead, that is for sure, he can still feel the pain all over his body and he still breaths. But he can't move, he can't see, he can't hear, he can't even smell the blood dripping down his own nose. It was as if everything was sucked away from him. He wondered in agony what had went wrong, his mind being the only thing he could barely operate. Was this the result of messing with something I didn't understand? He's feeling cold now, and his mind is slowly drifting from him.

@Lana Valentine @Clockwork Syringe @Vulpes @xEmoBunnehx @Kel Vas

Roku let out a low sigh as he collapsed, though she was confused why her spell had seemingly messed up. Her eye twitched again before she moved to where Joshua was laying upon the ground. She lifted him up and carried him by holding his side. She spoke no words to the others within the room as she half carried him to a place to rest.

After settling him down in the resting area of the building. She immediately turned and bolted towards a window and began to throw up heavily upon the ground. Blood mixed in with the remains of her partially digested lunch upon the ground and she coughed a few times.

Roku wiped her mouth clean just as someone spoke behind her, "You'll get better at it, eventually. Don't let yourself get upset over this," The voice came from Rok, whom had either be watching or had come to investigate the intense magic that was used in his home.

Roku looked at him and kept her head lower, "If what I believe is the truth and it seems it is... Why can't I remember?" Rok rubbed his shoulder and cracked his neck once as if he were working out some of his muscles.

He walked to where she still remained seated upon her knees and placed his large hand on her shoulder, "I don't know, nor do I know what to do about it. One day you will remember and you'll be just as strong as you were then," After speaking these words he moved away leaving Roku to ponder what she should do and who she should truly trust in this world.

Kala nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder. She understood where he was coming from, and that's exactly why she refused to be leader..because she couldn't. Her eyes met his as she spoke in the same hushed tone as he was, "It'll be alright Orlando. You have me here, as well as everyone else..and I promise I won't tell anyone else about it so long as you tell no one else about my little problem, okay?" She gave him a faint smile. "If you need help, in any form, I'll gladly step up to help..as well as maybe we can work together to control these other sides..yeah?" She suggested. In a way, it was comforting to know she wasn't alone..but it was also still quite shocking that Orlando, who seemed to be so normal, could be as 'crazy' as she was. Still, maybe they could calm each other's wild sides.

@Clockwork Syringe

"Thank you Kala," Orlando began, "I truly mean it. I just hope that the personality doesn't go and do anything rash such as taking control of my body. I also hope that one day, I can tell the rest of the group about it without any fear or reprisals. I'm meant to lead you all, and sometimes Its hard to make the difficult decisions, but I suppose it will get easier with experience. I find it funny that we're sharing secrets like this, perhaps thats not a bad thing? Orlando then stood up, "Well I'm going to go and meditate for a while, try to get to the bottom of this, come and find me if you want to discuss this further. Give my regards to the group for me will you?" He then began to walk off, but before he did so, he turned and gave her a wink with a grin before turning his head back and proceeding to go and meditate.

Alexander released a sigh and put away his scythe, then crossed his arms. "Then, pray do tell, why exactly would you do something to give us a worse name than us adventurers already do given what happened in that town?" Pinching the bridge of his nose, he let out a long suffering sigh, then glanced glanced at the sailors that were standing around looking at them curiously. Letting out another sigh, he smiled benignly at the sailors. "Sorry about that! Turns out this is a friend of my companion here, whom she told to meet up with us at this town. It seems she just remebered that she needed to meet up with us and tried to escape, which led to this unfortunate situation. She'll be travelling with us, and I'll be sure to compensate you for the money lost from the destroyed crate, as well as the extra passenger."

Turning back to Anna, his eyes showed that they were far from finished with this topic, but that she should simply go along with the story that he stated. After giving her that look, he walked back to Khloros, and motioned for Anna and her mount to follow.

Deren knew something was very wrong when the big ball of void energy he imagined forming outside his view, ended up being a small, measly orb of black slowly gliding towards Joshua, hell, Joshua would dodge it anyway. 'Surely putting more mana into creating it would make it bigger' he pondered, his eyes inquisitive as they tracked the ball. He was dissapointed, until a small rift appeared upon the ball touching the sandstorm. Deren nonchalantly leaned against the wall, still confident that it had gone wrong, still curious as to what was going to happen, and still embarrassed by being the origin of such a puny thing. Deren had no idea of the instability of dark magic, which was what had lead to his thoughts. He lifted one leg and planted his foot against the wall as he rested against it.

"Oh shit" he muttered as the rift grew, he didn't know how big it would get, then suddenly, Joshua was lying on the floor looking relatively dead. Deren froze, watching fearfully as Roku reacted and took him away. He didn't know what had happened, had different proportions of manager completely changed the nature of the spell? Deren's foot dropped from the wall as he stood in his calcified state. As much as he didn't really like Joshua, he didn't want something like that to happen, he had intended to scare him in retaliation for the arrow. Deren's face displayed his guilt with bright red cheeks and wide eyes. He'd just blown any chance of being respected by this group. It was from this event that Deren had learnt not to play with magic, he actually feared it a bit now. He hastily slid off his arcane glove and stuffed it into his pocket.

Kala's Ambition? *Time Skip*

With time's passing, the depths of the DeathGrin Mountains were devoured by the darkness, completely encompassed by the veil of night. Not even Rok's domain was immune to the encroaching shadow. But, during this time the flicks of flames danced within the halls. Torch bearers, females of beauty that were hidden within this tribal army, roamed from within lighting more sources. Slowly that place of tranquil allure lit, accents of gold glistening upon their walls of white, reds flicked and teased with that loving orange. Where blackness once stood, a gentle shadow resided, not even the mountains daring to oppress this shine. With torches lining the walls, not corner escaped. Finally warmth met this structure, frigid wind incapable of penetrating this guard of fire. Life was filling this place, the warriors from the frigid snow treading within. Unexpected? Perhaps. But, was most noteworthy was the fact that the adventurers met zero hostility from any member of the tribe. If anything, the general mass even seemed to celebrate their arrival.

The resounding beat of drums echoed throughout the mountains, war drums resting within the upper floors that overlooked the darker scene. Not only was this thriving sound generated from atop the structure, but within it as wall. Stationed at the corners of the heightened portion of the arena, multiple sets of these leather drums could be found, allowing the sound to be heard clearly across the grand room. Muscular youth's painted in red driving the beat with their entire bodies as their arms beat the instrument with vigor. Each and every drum carried the beat, never did the synchronization falter. Surely twas as if the drummers souls were truly one. These vibrations that chilled upon one's spine were anything but foreboding, energy only heightening as spirit within the domain united. Children could be seen within the energetic masses, free to express their curiosity and excitement within these festivities. Some tugging upon the clothes that the idle Adventurers wore as if a charm. When one inquired upon the act to elder members of the tribe, they were greeted with a grin. 'They seek the Adventurer's strength to encompass their growth.' Surely if there were ever a time that Adventurer could feel at peace with the Denizen it was now. Within Aparches they held celebration, but not one that held the presence of the Denizen. This was the army that Rok had created, the very fiber of what had adorned the man with title of 'King'. Perhaps his ways were questionable, but his ways of kindness thickened this lots' bonds.

But one was not to forget the performance that these festivities engulfed. Within the large Arena, energy was peaked. Their leader, Rok stood within, lively with the beat as he greeted all onlookers. His tall stature easily surpassed the walls, allowing him to even tend the children that came to spectate. And across from the man was none other than the Adventurer Kala. Denizens looked upon her with respect and anticipation, cheering their wishes that were placed upon her. It seemed none feared consequence when their hopes lied in her victory. After all, the berserkers held nothing else if not respect. This air was fitting for a man such as Rok, where no words were hushed nor rules were placed. The Denizens proved lively and playful, warding away the thoughts that related them to their bloodlust in battle.
And then the giant raised his arm, act alone demanding attention as the drum's beat lessened. Though their beat was slowed to an occasional strike, their energy never faltered. "To you Adventurers, I welcome once more. May our home become yours as well! " His voice roared clearly, head turning as he looked upon the room in search of the individuals within the mass. "Tonight is for you, but this moment, rests upon the bravery of your comrade." The man steeled himself, facing the female before him. "And to you, Kala. Honor rests upon my shoulders, for there is nothing more graceful than one with such bravery." With this said, Rok came to bow lightly, a wide grin resting upon his face. In the following moments his hands casually gripped the iron arm guards that protected his wrists, testing their fastenings to see if they would hold. "I set only one rule upon this fight. Neither fighter is to lay hand directly upon the other. Use your weapon, or other means to fight. Otherwise, I would like to grant you with first strike, Kala." With the time for speaking drawing to a close, Rok put forth his frame into a defense stance, readying himself to greet whatever Kala brought. With the moment of heat rising, the drum's beat rose once more.

*Time Hop*

By this time Ashelynn already stood, eyes cast upon the pair as events continued. Alex's image within her mind mildly shifted with his words, that is until a predictable outcome was achieved. So he would not needlessly slay another Adventurer to make their journey seamless. Apparently she herself would serve as the front that excuses the intruder's presence, and Alex would basically purchase her a golden ticket. So long as that was the path Alex sought, she held little reason to counteract it, after all, it's not liking having an additional Adventurer on board would hinder her plans. So longer as he did in fact understand this meant he would be responsible for whatever that female does.

The night shifted into darkness peacefully, the boat's frame gently rocking with the waves. For those gifted with sight, lanterns lined the rails. The fire's light from within was distorted, and softened, through the grayish-yellow fabric. It was pitiable light, but at least it provided sight within this otherwise unhindered darkness. Even the moon above was buried behind deep clouds, as if casting the dwellers into the deep void. Their pursuer had yet to make herself known, forcing this night into nothingness. Some would probably call it a time of peace. Above decks, a skeleton crew remained, keeping the lax job of watching into the darkness. The ship had already been anchored, seeing as it would be dangerous to sail further without proper sight. After all, there was no telling where the ocean might run onto land.

Alexander stood on deck, leaning against the railing and gazing out at sea, absently petting Khloros, who laid down beside him, every once in a while. Closing his eyes he took a deep breath and exhales, smiling to himself relaxation. Opening his eyes, he looks around at the skeleton crew, waving lightly at them. "I'll be up for the rest of the night if you want to turn in early. I'll keep an eye out on the sea for you." Turning back around without seeing whether they left or not, he kept his gaze out on the steady ocean.

He wondered how he could help Ashelynn, he really did. He supposed that in a world full of magic there would be a spell capable of healing her, but his limited use of magic meant that, at the moment, he really couldn't successfully pull off a spell like that. Looking down at his arcane gloves, he sighed. These didn't actually help either. He would need a staff and a more intricate understanding of healing magic to pull off such a complex spell. Frowning again, he he began to run through incantations in his head, trying to piece together what would, theoretically, have the capabilities to heal blindness. Rummaging around for a moment, he pulled out some writing utensils, and began to jot down incantations with small explanations and the thoughts behind them. Time seemed to blur past for him as he wrote more and more. Soon enough, though very little time had really passed, he had come across the base incantation that he knew would drive his being for the next upcoming period of time. It read 'Spirit, Touch, Remain, Disperse, Chain, Light, Create, Remain, Consume, Chain, Void, Touch, Spread, Consume, Chain, Creation, Create, Remain, Consume, Chain, Spirit, Manipulate, Remain, Consume, Chain, Life, Create, Spread, Consume'. Rubbing his forehead, he knew for a fact that he couldn't even begin trying this spell on any major illnesses, let alone Ashelynn and her blindness. Granted the way he had worded the incantation was geared towards adventurers with blindness, but for the life of him, he couldn't rightly bring himself to ask to test it on someone. Sighing, he tucked away the paper and once again leaned against the railing, promising himself to keep watch for now, and work on the incantation later.

Roku looked around the festival, her heart beating fast within her chest. She had pieced together little in the past week that they had spent with Rok and his forces. She had discarded some of her old equipment and had gotten newer and better versions of them.

Roku's eye would betray a look of tiredness. Her desire to grow stronger had given her little time to rest as she know trained or studied almost all the time when most would rest. She truthfully had no idea why she desired to be stronger but, had felt that it tied in with the memories buried deep in her mind.

Roku began to nod off during Rok's speech to the crowd of people. Though she meant no disrespect from it, She had tried to catch a few seconds of rest while most focused on him. Roku's arm twitched and she grabbed the wrist of a small child whom been preparing to play a prank of some kind or perhaps steal her limited coin purse. However Roku blinked when the child seemed pleased to have been grabbed in such a manner. "Weird people..." She mumbled deciding against seeking any answers as to why.

Roku knew a part of herself was changing, She attributed it to her lack of memories but, Rok, during one of the few times she had attempted to press him for answers, had mentioned it was due to her becoming cynical about their situation which was what she had gone through before.

Roku made a small tsk sound and began to watch the fight with little enthusiasm, her current desire torn between wanting to rest and cheering on Kala even though Roku had doubts about her coming out on top.

Anna lay awake in her shared quarters, she couldn't believe her luck. She was finally far away from that wretched hell of a town. The only downside being that she's stuck with the other two adventurers but it could be a nice change to her usual solo schtick. She was surprised that Alexander was covering up for her while she didn't think much about her "companion" Ashelynn.

".... companions..." Anna muttered before getting up from her hammock, keeping as quiet as possible so as to not disturb Ashelynn who was asleep or at least seems to be. Blind she may be but she can still hear. Anna silently picked up her cloak and donned it, snagged her bow and quiver, and then quietly leaving her quarters. She took a look around and walked towards the stairs leading up to the deck. After a quick glance around, she ascended up the steps onto the quiet deck.

The air was cool and smelt of the sea. Other then the skeleton crew, she could see Matcha, asleep on the same spot as earlier, the giant land shark and Alexander, who gazed off into the horizon. Anna quietly walked over and sat down about a meter away from where Alexander stood, leaning against the ship's railing and hugging her longbow. Enjoying the cool air and the starless sky.

Alexander glanced over as he heard someone come on to the deck and proceed to sir near him. After noticing it was Anna, he looked back forward towards the sea, once again petting Khloros' head. After a few more moments of silence he seemed to have gathered his thoughts.

"I did what I did because, at this point in time, we Adventurers can only truly rely on one another. The Denizens opinions of us will always change and fluctuate as they cannot truly understand beings such as us. Ones who seem to be unkillable, though I doubt that to be true."

Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. "If you were in that town, you may have heard my speech that was before what happened. I tried nipping the problem at the bud, but they were too scared of us. Becayse of that, I heard the screams of Adventurers as they revived and we're killed over and over again. It was torture of the highest magnitude. Truly, if it was just me, I would be creating a guild of sorts now, though I reality I would ensure it would be more of a federation or a faction, and I would try uniting us Adventurers so we would not need to fear the Denizens. But I'm not alone, and for the unforeseen future, Ashelynn is my first and only priority."

At this he stops and turns towards Anna fully. "This is where you come in. You are now my responsibility, and as repayment for my covering for you, you are to help me look after Ashelynn. I won't always be there, but I'd hope that if I'm not there, you will be. It is quite likely that I will have to travel to unsavory places to find some of the answers that I am looking for, and I'd rather not bring her with me, so you will look after her during that time. Understand?" He then sighs and runs a hand through his hair, mumbling under his breath as he does. "Though I do hope I find my answers soon enough..."
