A Chance For a Second Chance

Lena wrapped her arms around Gideon's neck, gently placing her chin on his shoulder. Nodding silently, Lena's body relaxed in Gideon's arms. Fatigue overwhelmed the young woman as she fell asleep, repeating Gideon's words over and over again in her mind. "I will never leave you."

Ace slightly blushed when Xiana held his hand tight, and smiled a bit as he walked alongside her. "Xi, I have a question," he said, his face turning more serious, as they went in the direction of what they hoped would be some sort of village or city, "do you... remember anything? From when you were, y'know, alive? Sorry if I come across as 'intruding'."

Fai took in the information the mute man gave him quite easily. "That's cool. I never heard of a city named Earth." Fai shrugged as he took a sip from the cold glass of water the waitress from before set down on the table. "Well, you're currently in Iskelan," Fai set the glass of water down gently before looking back up at Xavier. "And this is the little town of Venus." Fai stretched out his arms, gesturing to all around him. "I love that game!" Fai added in when he heard about limbo. "How low can you go?"

Darrian walked into Manny's and looked around for a second before seeing the dragon and the, what Darrian believed, was the human. Darrian wasn't big with interaction of any species, in fact, almost everything he had met since that day, animal or humanoid, was dying. He walked up to the two, he was determined to figure out more about what was going on with the sudden big group of people showing up in Iskelan. He walked up to the table right next to theirs and sat down. He started to look at what the one man was writing on the board.

'He must be mute,' Darrian thought to himself. He was deep in his own head, his physical appearance making it all to obvious he was reading the board.

Gideon smiled and thought now would be a good time to use one of his newest abilities he found out about before he died. He stopped and closed his eyes and thought about Xavier, then Ace, then Xiana. He chose one of the three and flames surrounded him and Lena.

Gideon appeared beside Xavier when he opened his eyes. Flames disappearing from around him. Gideon smiled a bit at the thought of him being able to teleport to locations like that. "Another hour and I'll be able to do that again." He laughed a bit then looked at Fai "Oh, hey there. What's up?" Gideon asked, genuinely interested in starting a conversation.

((Don't worry about my character teleporting. It is really complicated so he won't be doing it that much. It is just a neat trick for him to use when he is bored or wants to find someone :3))

Fai spotted someone coming over to them and recognized it to be Darrian. "Hey there, buddy!" Fai waved at the man and gestured for him to come over. "Dairy, this is Xavier." Fai introduced Xavier to Darrian. "Xavier, this is Dairy."

'No, Xavier. Do not face palm.' 'Earth is not a city, it's a planet in an entirely different universe. This Limbo does not refer to the game. It's a realm in between Heaven and Hell for the dead. In Limbo, your soul is sent to an empty space or a void of sorts and you await the verdict of where you stay in the afterlife. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work. After dying and being sent to Limbo, I was sent to Iskelan along with others and told that we were to prove ourselves in order to gain a second chance in life. Basically, if we can prove ourselves, we can come back to life. I know it sounds strange, but this is not a game or a joke. This is real and I would greatly appreciate your help."
Xavier looked at the man. 'It's the Phoenix, but something is different.'

Fai frowned when he saw the mean phoenix. "Why do I smell blood?" Fai asked, his sensitive nose twitched when the aroma of freshly spilt blood reached his nose. Glancing around, Fai's eyes landed on the sleeping girl in the mean phoenix's arms. "Finally got the girl, huh?" Fai leaned back in his chair and gave Gideon a large grin. "Why is she bleeding?" Fai leaned onto the table, staring suspiciously at the taller man.

Darrian looked at Fai, not previously realizing who it was. He walked over and sat in an empty chair at the table.

He reached an open hand out to the Xavier fellow, "Haven't seen you around these parts before, are you new?" Darrian asked him, he wasn't really sure if that was an appropriate approach but he didn't have much interaction with other people so the thought that it'd have to do.

"She stepped on some rocks and cut her feet. And stay away from her or I will turn you into a pile of ash." Gideon said, stepping away from Fai. He held Lena tighter, trying to make sure she was safe. Blue flames grew around him and surrounded his entire body like an aura that protected Lena and himself. It didn't burn anything, but any living thing around him would get burned if they got too close.

Darrian felt kind of uneasy at the new arrival, he saw him before at the lake and he wasn't to nice there, he didn't seem like he was much more of a party-guy here either. Darrian decided to keep his head down at the given circumstances.

Xavier shook Darrian's hand. 'Good to see there's more kind people.' Xavier turned his attention towards the Phoenix and took note of the fire. 'He's still overprotective.' Xavier turned his attention away from the flames and focused on the new arrival. 'I wonder of Darrian knows something.'

"I am only protective, not overprotective. I also have no say in when the flames arrive, they just do when ever I feel threatened." Gideon explained. He decided to just wait and listen in on what the others were talking about.

Xiana's smile fades away. "Well, I honestly don't remember much.... When I woke up my hair was drenched in water. I thought maybe I drowned, but wouldn't my clothes and shoes be soaked too if I did?" she feels a bit of pain shoot around her neck as she tries to remember, and holds her hand gently to her neck. "I keep thinking that maybe I was murdered..."

(Hey sorry people that are with Enzo, I felt sick all day today, you can untie if you want i will try to post later)

((I hope you feel better Roxel ))

Fai rolled his eyes at the protective phoenix. "Well, do you or your girl want anything to eat?" Fai asked the phoenix, deciding to be friendly...for now. Snapping his fingers and calling for another server, instead of a waitress, a waiter walked up to the table with a notepad and pencil in his hands.

"Good afternoon, and welcome to Manny's. How may I help you?" the waiter said unenthusiastically. Staring blankly at the group, the waiter started to tap his feet impatiently.

"I want-" Fai glanced over to Darrian, Gideon, and the girl. "What do you guys want?" Fai leaned back in his chair, taking a sip of his water.

"If you were murdered," Ace looked to Xiana with a reassuring grin, "I swear that when I get outta this hell, I'll find the person that killed you and teach him a lesson." His grin disappeared when he remember his death in the bloody sands of the war. "I remember mine now. I... had some sorta dream or flashback when I was unconsious." He started, unaware of the town in the distance, "I got shot while serving in the Marine Corps. They used me as a decoy! Told me to run out there and distract the enemy so that they could continue the operation." A single tear rolled down his cheek as the words left his mouth. He didn't want to tell her he had been a criminal; useless scum, put to work in the military as a way to get out of going to the slammer. "But my story doesn't matter. What matters is that we find an escape from this afterlife! Take this, chance for a second chance!"

Xavier mentally sighed at the current situation. 'This escalated very quickly. I don't know anything about Darrian, but he seems nice enough. Fai has been generous enough to help. The only thing to worry about would be the Phoenix. If something rubs him the wrong way, there could be a fight on our hands. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.' Like he told the man earlier, he wasn't his enemy, he just didn't think his actions were justified. Other than that, he had no issue with him.

((Well, that escalated quickly. lol))

Lena awoke to the smell of a freshly cooked meal. Licking her lips, Lena smiled into Gideon's neck. "That smells delicious." Although Lena had already died, she still had her daily needs. After all, being taken to Iskelan was like being reborn all over again.

Lena's eyes fluttered open as she stretched out her arms. Noticing the change of scenery, Lena whispered into Gideon's ear, "Where are we?" Happy that they were in civilization now, Lena was a little curious to where they were.

"I'm still thinking, I'll order later," Darrian said, only tilting his head up a little to talk. To be honest, we wasn't even really hungry, he just came in here because he was curious about Xavier.

Fai shrugged at the Speinar. "Suit yourself." Deciding that the phoenix and girl didn't know what was on the menu, Fai whispered to the waiter. "Get 2 chicken combos." The waiter nodded, writing down what he needed and walked away without even asking 'Anything else?'. Fai chuckled as he remembered the somewhat annoying voice of the previous waitress.

Xavier was relived that the situation hadn't taken a turn for the worse. He watched the night sky from his position by the window. 'Does the town have a hotel? Even if it does, I don't have any money and the currency is different. This is definitely a problem. I think I'll go with the sleeping in a tree idea, leaves are warm enough.'

Xiana smiled a bit, but stopped when his grin disappeared. She listened to his story attentively, and it almost brought her to tears as well. "That's terrible..." She stopped and stood in front of him, looking into his saddened eyes. She held his cheek softly with her free hand pulled him a little closer to her face. She kissed his tear away gently and smiled at him. "What happened in the past is done, and you can't dwell on it, no matter if it was a bad past or good one. All you have to do is keep moving forward, k?"

Before the waited left, Darrian decided he might as well eat. If he didn't eat here he'd have to hunt for something. "I think I'll have some of that pulled-pork barbecue," he said to the waiter. He'd tried it once before and it wasn't half bad.

"I'll eat what ever" Gideon said. He continued to hold Lena "We are in some weird food place" Gideon told Lena, not caring about the name. He put Lena down and yawned.

((I have to go, just imagine Gideon eating his food if he gets any xD and him still being protective of Lena. Also the flames are still surrounding both of them, so getting too close to Gideon or Lena will result in you getting burned >:3 Alright I'll be back tomorrow. Good night everyone.))
