A Chance For a Second Chance

((Lena technically WAS ditching Gideon AGAIN. So his anger is justified. Also he didn't change personality. He isn't Gideon anymore at all. But like I said, if you wanna know anything about anything that is going on with Gideon, you has to become his friend! :3))

((Backstory time, everybody!))

A crushing impact was all Ace felt before falling with a thud to the cold, hard, forest floor. Struggling to move his pained body, he accepted the fate put upon him by Gideon. Everything slowly faded to darkness; blood creeping down his head and onto the green grass; staining in a bloody crimson...

"Fremont! Pull yourself together!" Ace looked to the man shouting at him. Smoke and dust clouded the room, obscuring his vision. Sounds of gunshots filled the already dirty air, and the iron smell of blood surrounded him. "Take this and get out there, Private!" The stranger, known as his Staff Sergeant commanded before tossing him a rifle. Thoughts filled his mind, why was he in this war? In the Corps? The realization hit him like a brick wall. It was because he had no choice - it was a go-to-jail or join-the-corps situation. As the Sergeant pushed him out the door, explosions rang out all around him. He could only think one thing - finish the mission; do his duty to his country. Running off into the unforgiving heat of the desert, he prayed to whoever was 'up there' to return home. A voice called him over, and he ducked behind sandbags with the rest of his squad, bullets skimming his leg. "You! Private Fremont!" As a private, he had to listen to most people's orders. Even a private first class. "Get out there and lay down suppressive fire!" They were using him as a decoy!, he thought to himself as he jumped over the bags. Quickly taking cover behind the wall of a house, he peeked his head out to see the enemies. They must be-- BAM! The noise of a 50 caliber sounded through the air, and he checked himself over and over. He thanked God it missed him; one of those would've tore his head off. Rolling from cover, he fired at the enemies. The Lieutenant was still yelling for him, and he thought to himself how much he'd like to order him around for a change. A sudden impact blew him backwards, interrupting his thoughts. Blood ran down his limp body and his vision grew hazy, as the Staff Sergeant's voice echoed from his radio. "Fremont's down! I repeat, man down! Location echo, foxtrot, two, ..." Clutching his dog tags, the life faded from his body.

((And to Lena, she just wanted to help. But, hey, she's an idiot. xD ))

---

Lena woke up with a cold sweat dripping down her face. Fire. So much fire. Lena shivered from the thought of slowly burning in agony. But, for some reason, Lena thought of Gideon when the word fire popped up. Shaking her head to rid herself of the thought of the phoenix, Lena remembered that she was still angry at him. The young woman could somewhat understand why he was angry, but that was still not a good reason to hurt people. Getting up, Lena's body was sore from the overexertion from before. Stretching her limbs, Lena heard a satisfying crack before walking off to find civilization.

((Someone please interact with Fai. Lena gets boring to type about when there's no one around.))

((Drama. Gotta love it c: ))

Xiana's eyes grew wide as she saw a small pool of blood forming around Ace's head. She checked his pulse, sighing with relief that he was still alive. She had nothing to wrap his bleeding head with, so she ripped the bottom part of her shirt off ((only enough to where you can see her stomach, nothing else O.o )) and wrapped it around his head to stop the bleeding. She didn't know what else to do and laid his head on her lap, waiting anxiously for him to wake.

The man stopped and yawned. "I wonder what my name shall be" He thought to himself. After a moment he smirked and said his new name aloud 'The Master" and with those words he created a huge pillar of blue flames, he went to the top and looked around for a village or town somewhere. The pillar was big enough for Xiana, Lena, and Ace to see clearly. The Master kept looking until he decide to just walk around and look on foot. The pillar got smaller until he just stood on the ground, picking a direction.

((Woah. Bravo. That was awesome))

---

Lena knew exactly where Gideon was when she saw the bright blue pillar of flames in the sky. "That Master..?" Lena suddenly had a flash back to her nightmare.

Not knowing whether to go the other direction and avoid Gideon completely or to head towards the pillar of flames and check up on him. Lena finally succumbed into the latter of the two. "I hope he's not too upset with me." Lena thought, feeling very guilty that she exploded on the man. "This is why I hate getting angry.." Lena rolled her shoulders and looked down at her injured feet. "Maybe I can get some medical attention if I find some civilization." Lena began walking towards the direction Gideon was, every step she took shot pain throughout her body. "Let there please be a hospital around here." Lena cried in agony when one of her feet stepped on a sharp rock. Getting back up, Lena limped her way to civilization.

Xavier felt himself getting pulled into the resaurant. The sign language thing hadn't gone so well, which was evident by the way he was cursed at. 'There's gotta be something around here.' Xavier's eyes trailed over to a nearby message board. 'That's it.' Xavier grabbed the man's hand and brought him near the sign. He then began writing on the sign and let the man see when he was finished. "I can't talk." He really needed a notepad or something, it would be difficult if everyone here thought he was flipping them off.

Vision still blurry, Ace slowly awoke from his 'sleep'. His head hurt like hell, and he was feeling a bit light-headed from the loss of blood. "Hey..." He weakly said as he looked up to Xiana from her lap, noticing her shirt was turn and his head was now wrapped. "Thanks, Xi..." He turned and looked to find Lena, unable to see her from his position. "Where's.. Lena?"

The Master heard Lena and he turned and smiled when he saw her. "Why hello there! You must be Lena" The Master said. He walked over to Lena and frowned "Do you need help?" The Master offered. The Master didn't really care about anyone but himself, hell he could be out of there and back in the real world within a day or two. But he liked adventures, he liked new things, he liked excitement. So he decided to stay and have as much fun as he could, knowing full well the truth about Gideon and why staying would be a bad idea.

Fai stared at the message board, his mouth hanging open. "Ohhhh. Okay! I see now!" Fai chuckled, hitting his forehead with his palm. "Anyway, are you hungry?" Fai waved at one of the waitresses and tossed a menu to the mute man.
Lena peered at Gideon. Something was different about him. But, Lena, being the idiot she is, couldn't determine what it was. "No, I'm fine." Lena sent "Gideon" a bright smile, happy that she finally found him. "I just need to find some sort of civilization, that's all." Lena limped up to Gideon and looked him in the eyes. Yup. Something was defiantly wrong. "Hey, Gid...Are you alright?" Lena asked him, worry in her eyes. "I'm sorry about freaking out at you. I just, well, got upset."

Xavier caught the menu and stares at it. 'What is this?' He had never heard of these. He began writting on the board once more. "I'm fine. I don't want to be an inconvenience." The man was being nice, but he didn't think it would be good of him to just have the man spend money on him. Xavier lifted his head, as the sky darkened and the lights of the town turned on. It was very beautiful. He didn't know if this was common or if this town was wealthy, but he liked the look of the place. Although night time was beautiful here, it also brought another problem. 'I'm gonna need to find a place to rest. Maybe I can find a tree in the forest to sleep on.'

The Master smiled "Silly girl, I'm The Master. Gideon is asleep at the moment and I haven't been able to walk around in decades. Also why do you care about Gideon? You don't listen, you don't care, and you let those fools step all over the poor lad. You get upset because of how he is correct? Well that is like getting upset at a knife for being too sharp! Gideon is acting like a phoenix, nothing more, nothing less. If you can't accept that then you don't deserve his love or his protection" The Master said with a hint of satisfaction.

He stood there to see her response. He probably knew what she was going to say already, but he didn't care. He was giving her a chance to redeem herself, a chance to prove she isn't like the others and that she actually IS smart. Of course he had his doubts, but it didn't matter. If Gideon hurt then he hurt, so he had to make sure he kept bad people away from him at all times and keep the good ones close. The Master hoped this one would be different for a change.

"Oh thank God your ok. Well, kinda." she says gently tapping his wounded head. "I saw her walking toward the blue pillar" she points to it to show Ace. "I'm guessing that pillar is Gideon's doing. I wanted to help Lena but I couldn't just leave you here... I thought you would've died." She looked away so he didn't see the fear in her eyes. "Come on, we need to find a town or something and fix up your head."

Fai sent the mute man a quick smile and told the waitress. "I'll have two regulars, please." Fai ordered the man some food anyway. "What's your name, mute man? I'm Fai." Fai leaned on his elbow resting on the table.

The waitress nodded and wrote the order down on a piece of paper. "Anything else?"

Fai shook his head and gave the woman a charming smirk. "No, we're good. Thank you." The waitress left and Fai turned back to the man.

Xavier was glad to know the name. It seemed disrespectful to keep calling him the dragon or the man. He brought the board closer to the table and the staff didn't seem to mind. He began writting again. "I'm Xavier, pleased to make your acquaintance. Thank you for helping." Fai turned out to be the only kind resident he had met so far. He couldn't deal with another angry bird.

Lena stared at the man for a second. "This isn't Gideon." Before leaving, Lena looked back at the man who looked like Gideon. "Well, then. If Gideon happens to wake up, tell him that I'm sorry." Sending the man a small apologetic smile, Lena began to walk away, only to fall flat on her face from tripping over another rock.

Struggling to get up again, Lena dusted her clothes off and gave a quick salute to "The Master". "Goodbye for now," Lena glanced back, hoping that it was all an act and that Gideon was right there to give her a hug. "I guess."

Suddenly, Lena turned around and gave the man a tight hug, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" Lena sobbed into the phoenix's chest. "Please don't be mad at me!" Lena choked on her tears, her body trembling violently. "I don't want to be alone any more... Please don't leave me..."

The Master growled a bit and he covered his face with his hands. The Master looked and seemed different. He was Gideon again. Gideon looked down at Lena "You hurt me... You don't understand me and you don't want to understand me. You only care about yourself..." Gideon said bluntly. He wanted to hug Lena but he just didn't understand how someone could just assume that he was acting this way because he wanted to when in reality he had no choice as to how he feels about things. Gideon knew that his reactions weren't the best, but that is how he was and he would never change. He was a phoenix and he didn't mind really, but he did mind people judging him for being him. "Do you even know why I act the way I do about things?" He asked, hoping she would know what to say. He had faith in her intelligence so he wasn't feeling too bad.

"Thanks. For stayin' with me, that is," Ace pushed himself up from her lap, and smiled to hide his saddness and pain, "back when I was... alive, nobody would've done that for me. To them I was just a worthless grunt, and that's all I'll ever be." He held out a hand to Xiana to help her up, so that they could get going. It wasn't that he was disappointed with his life, it was that it wasn't his choice. The mistakes of the past came back to bite him, and he was forced to join the Marines; removing his rights, his happiness, and risking his life so rich men could sit in their homes without fear of strife. It's not fair, Ace thought to himself as looked at the girl sitting below him, not at all.

Lena kept looking down at her feet, feeling so guilty that she couldn't even look up at Gideon. "I'm sorry for being selfish, I'm sorry for the way I acted." Lena bit her lip to contain some of the hiccups that came from her mouth. "I want to know you, Gideon. I do want to understand you." Lena wrapped her arms tighter around the man, almost like if she let go even the slightest bit, he would leave. "I want to know you and be there for you and-" Lena was cut off by another hiccup. Tears falling from her eyes, Lena looked up at Gideon. "I don't want to ever hurt you again." Lena buried her face into his chest, afraid to ever let go of him again.

Gideon hugged the girl tightly, kneeling down a bit because of his towering height. He smiled and held her "I will never leave you" He whispered. Gideon picked up Lena and carried her as he walked off to find a town. He smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek "Lets find some way out of here eh?"

Xiana saw right through his fake smile. S took his hand and was helped up. "Your not worthless to me.. Trust me, if you were worthless I doubt you would've been given this 'chance for a second chance', right?" she gave his a reassuring smile and held his hand tighter. "Let's go" she started walking, still holding his hand.

While he and Fai waited for the food, Xavier thought it would be a good time to ask some questions. He grabbed the board and began writing. 'I need to learn as much as possible.' "What is this place?" 'I'll start with the simple stuff first and then get into the deeper stuff later.'

(( oh really? My character hasn't had any interaction the entire time. ))
(Do you want to come to Manny's and meet up with Fai and Xavier? ....Good job marine, you have lasted 25 pages without interaction. Now come and talk to Xavier and Fai while stuffing our faces with food)
Fai stared at Xavier with his eyebrow raised. "It's Manny's." Fai stated obviously, pointing at the giant sign that said "Manny's" "Have you never been to one of these before? I mean, sure, McPondles is more popular, but Manny's serves quality food!" Fai shook his head in pity at the mute man. "You have missed so much."

Xavier felt the need to face palm. 'I saw that coming, but I was hoping I'd be wrong.' He grabbed the board once more and tried to be more specific. "No I mean this world. I'm from a planet called Earth. This place is an entirely different world. Where I come from, people with these characteristics and abilities don't exist. I'm a human. I was sent here after waking up in a place called Limbo. Also, I'm dead." 'I'm not sure how he'll react to the part about me being dead.'
