Baharius' conical teeth sunk deep into the giant bug's leg, piercing through the crunchy exoskeleton before ripping it off with a sickening snap. A volley of dank ichor sprayed across the floor, with some pattering Baharius' croc-like head. It was disgusting... but the saurian veteran wouldn't complain. So long as it bled, it could be killed. With a guttural snort, he tossed the leg away with a powerful thrust of his neck. They will have their victory. They must.

Though while his body was able to withstand the heavy gravitational force violently pressing on his form for now, his armor would be having a much tougher time. He could feel his bronze armor cracking and buckling underneath this abnormally intense pressure. It was falling apart. And if this kept up, he'd shed his armor completely, leaving only his sheer bulk to brace against the elements. Needless to say, he didn't want to go down flattened into a meat pancake in a gruesome and mortifying death like this.

Thankfully, Marcus was able to arrive just in time to deal the finishing blow. The bug withered and writhed with a blood-curdling screech - its mandibles flaying wildly and its compound eyes bulging out of their sockets - before going limp and crashing onto the floor. As he rose his head to peak at the carnage, Baharius swore he saw the bug's legs committing rigor mortis; curling inwards upon themselves in that classic curled-up death pose. Finally... the fight was done.

Or at least so he thought. Almost immediately after, Baharius heard rock cracking underneath where Marcus landed. His heart sank. Web-like cracks were rapidly forming outwards, heralding an ominous event. The saurian's eyes widened as he realized what was going on. "GET BACK!" the saurian bellowed to everyone as he attempted to hustle away. And with a thunderous tremor, the floor underneath the paladin and the bug gave way - sending them down the dark hole.

"Marcus!" the saurian cried out as he approached the hole's edge, "Are you alright?"

Baharius leaned over to inspect the situation. Thankfully, they didn't fall too far - just 10 feet down. However, it looked like Marcus had fallen to the next level under them rather than just some random hole or groundwater cave. Still, he could tell he needed help getting up... and thankfully it was just shallow enough that they didn't need rope. He had something better. "Grab my tail!" The saurian called to Marcus while he turned around, standing straight up at the edge as his long webbed tail flopped down the walls of the cavern to as far down as it could go. While it didn't deploy straight down like a floppy noodle, it would decline at a significant angle. The saurian hoped it would be enough. "I'll pull you up if you need to get back up."

Another screech sung songs of victory. But it was not without cost.

CRACK!

A more ominous noise, as the ground beneath Marcus gave way. The torch in his hand was let go as he scrambled for the ledge with his hand. Alas, it had been in vane. And Marcus simply plummeted downward.

His head snapped below, and he oriented his feet to landing properly. His knees buckled and as he leaned forward and hit the ground with his palm. Looking up, he spotted rocks falling and shifted in place, causing the rock to strike the thicker portions of his armor. Though this was imperfect.

DINK DINK DINK

Dents formed within his armor as he was battered by rocks. He answered Baharius' question. "I have been through far worse." Looking left and right, he grabbed his torch off the ground -- He took a moment to observe his surroundings and catch his bearings. Once he looked around, he informed the group of where it appeared that he was.

"I've fallen into another tunnel. It seems they are most unstable." He takes a moment to scan his surroundings.

"Oh goddess Minerva. Guide me through this ordeal...." Marcus recited a small prayer, setting his senses of sight and sound into scanning the area -- choosing both this tunnel and the one above him. He did not have the same enhanced senses as many beasts did -- and yet his were ever keen. If he was able to detect something, he would seek to discern detail of it -- such as it's weight and distance. [Cup of Knowledge]

However, just as he was about to come up with another way to get out he heard Baharius voice and saw a tail being offered. He reaches behind himself, takes some of his rope, and ties his spear to his back to free up a hand.

"Be careful. This area is dangerous. Be weary of falling in yourself. But, I'll jump up then." With that, Marcus crouches down and leaps again. [Bound] Instead of grabbing the rather unreliable looking ledge....he'd seek to grab Baharius' tail. Baharius would feel a strong grip seize his sturdy tail, as Marcus would use it to pull himself up. With his great strength, he sought to pull himself up with merely one hand, keeping his other on the torch. [Herculean Task]

"More of the creatures seem apt to be upon us. Perhaps I will have time to look at hunter's wounds. Perhaps not. Regardless of what happens, we ought to not allow ourselves to be divided, if we can help it."

One thing at a time. First, he had to get back up.

Glacier smiled as the Foxes of Ice toyed around with the ripped-off parts of the bug. "%You have done well.%" He transmitted to them as they dissipated. He then turned his head up to face Hunter, the man pumping a fist into the air and laying an arm on Glacier. "Indeed, I am Glacier... and it is good to see that your injury is not too severe."

The conversation was then interrupted, as Glacier's attention snapped to towards the big bug, or more specifically it's carcass. A tremor sounded throughout the tunnel, causing him to brace for impact, and watch with horror as Marcus fell into a newly made hole. However, Glacier untensed with relief upon hearing Marcus' words, and Baharius' help to get the fighter up and out.

Left with nothing immediate to do, Glacier made use of his thermal vision yet again to scan the area, ensuring that no second wave of bugs would surprise them during this moment of vulnerability [1]. Though he did keep an eye on the hole too, as he didn't want himself, or Hunter, to fall in should it suddenly destabilize further.

Hearing Marcus' comment, Glacier responded in agreement.
"Yes, it is important... that we all stay together throughout this." He also looked towards Watching, wondering if it would use this moment of respite to write on it's board to them.

Watching of Reflection would almost feel like its entire body was shattering from the inside out. Like someone had broken all of its bones, and cut through its muscles. It mustered all it could to drive the Spine through the bugs' carapace and into its soft flesh. Letting the monstrosity fall down as Marcus's weapon gave the final blow. The small critter stood there amongst the others and breathed heavily through its snout as it tried to relax. Yet was quickly startled, jumping back a small distance even as it caused pain within its body. As Marcus whom had landed with such force against the brittle and heavy tunneled through area caused part of the ground to collapse below him. It seemed to be apprehensive on what to do for a moment, weighing its options as it looked around what the others were doing.

Walking over towards the hole it briefly glanced down to see Marcus seemed to be a bit scuffed and his armor dented, but visibly he looked still alright all things considered, almost as if it were a sigh the little critter left out air from its snout which it held in through the cloud of dust which had formed for a moment as everything settled. Seeing that Baharius had begun to attempt to help Marcus out, and questioning if it could assist much in helping Marcus further up it looked around towards what the other two were doing.

Hunter who held a terrible gash through his arm, rendering it useless, it was a horrible sight even if Hunter tried his best to seem fine. The arm looking to be hanging limp for all intents and purposes. Whether perhaps if that was for himself, to relax himself rather then falling into panic, or maybe because of the adrenaline still going through his veins like an individual who had been shot or lost an arm not realizing within the moment what had fully transpired yet. Or whether he was saying such for the rest of them, wanting to not worry their efforts as they had a mission to fulfill together. Everything that could be done to help fight against this horde who were to be quelled out of this world, before things worsened, knowing that if the bugs weren't stopped now it one could only fear on how far they would spread and how much they would destroy in their ever rampant expansion.

Understanding the noises the large creature had made on its death bed Watching would begin to move on ahead, knowing that these bugs cannot catch them by surprise again after what happened, and that it should be best to ambush them if any would approach them now knowing that they cannot falter and retreat yet with how far they've still yet to go. It would look towards the others, if it were illuminated by the torch light once more to write down upon its wooden board now finally. "I agree, but if so I will stand watch further up ahead outside of the torch light, and will make noise if any more bugs come. We are nowhere near the Hive yet though, so we have to keep moving, I'm sorry Hunter."

Otherwise it would have openly signalled to the others with one hand towards the ceiling just a little further up ahead. Beginning to once more scale the walls of the tunnel. Utilizing its tail and tail spines to move itself along the terrain almost as if using handholds or pitons, as it used its experience and strength of climbing the Woodlands to come from an unexpected angle once more to these horrid bugs whom only faced humans rather then any predators which hunted them as an animal. Moving forward the initial twenty feet down the tunnel in this small time frame along the upper walls, no longer illuminated by the light of the torch to show its presence. [1 + 2 + 3]

“Pssht, I’m fine. A little cut won’t stop me! I’ll just try to keep my arm close to the cold for a little bit of bacteria protection and what not, but I can always just cauterize it if needed.” He felt like his arm was on fire, the blood seeped out and stained the skin red. “Although, it’s always nice to see you again ya know.” He gave Watching of reflection a smile, and walked backwards to stand with glacier, no longer standing in the front. He would try to give as much support as possible but his arm was basically shit and even though it wasn’t his dominant arm, the extra care and handling needed to take care of it would severely hinder him. Also, the fact that it was basically a weak spot and left the scent of blood emanating from him would make him a bigger target if anything, and he couldn’t afford to take anymore hits. “Do we have any healers here? I’d be surprised if we don’t.” As they walked, he put his arm to glaciers back. He couldn’t see and so he just let glacier guide him through the tunnels

As the group was triumphant so far, there was now the issue to deal with their companion as some of them offered ideas trying to help. But their companion simply leaped back up to the tunnel his companions were in. Marcus however would note the ground seemed unstable so it was probably best to not jump around in this area in particular. Watcher latched itself to the room of the cave though it would feel a slight tremor.

Though for now the bug were dead but their mission was far from complete, they were going to have to push deeper in the hive. Though they were going to need to decide which of the three tunnels they were going to go down. The center tunnel was the ones the bugs had come from. But the other two led to a much steeper slope, though the torches in the group were slowly eating away at the material. They wouldn't last much longer before going out and the group was going to need to figure out what to do next if they did go out.

For you never truly know what lurks in the dark but the sound of chittering could be heard coming from all three tunnels hinting that a fight was going to happen but which tunnel would they choose?

Feeling Marcus rope around his tail, Baharius proceeded to pull the warrior up with little effort. Looking over at the group, he scoured to see how everyone was doing so far. Hunter, despite his cheerful attitude, was the worst off compared to everyone else given the laceration on his arm. Nonetheless he seemed willing to keep going, though asked for a healer if they had one. The saurian shook his head. "I'm afraid not." he stated bluntly, "If I had a potion or kit to spare, I would give you one." Hopefully the others had at least something on them to ease his wound.

As Marcus addressed the situation at hand, the saurian grunted affirmatively."Indeed." Baharius replied adamantly, "We stick together and push on. Though descending the center tunnel would be unwise, given the resistance we encountered. We wouldn't want to engage too many more bugs in direct combat if it can be avoided. We've lost one of our own already... I intend not to lose anymore."

Turning his head, he took a few lumbering steps towards the cave intersection and inspected their next option carefully. He rose his great sword and pointed it at their options. "Both branching tunnels appear to descend at a deeper angle. I suggest we take either left or right." He then slowly leaned his great sword to point towards the right cave. "I propose the latter. Any objections?"

"My thanks, Baharius." With a firm step, Marcus was reunited with the group.

"I am unsure of if the other team has planted the bomb yet. I've yet to hear a "proper" explosion. We still need to distraction." He'd heard something before -- but it was likely from an engagement somewhere else by one of the other parties.

"The ground here is unstable. We should move a little bit forward. However, you. I'm surprised you're still alive, elf. But not surprised you are wounded." He said to Hunter. "Let me have a look at you."

In any other situation -- Hunter would be Marcus' enemy. But here and in this situation, Marcus viewed him as simply: "Teammate." And thus Marcus sought to heal him all the same. He reached to his waist and quickly fished out supplies from his waist. In looking at the wound, he'd seek to do as he can to heal him.

"Hold this." Marcus said, making hunter carry his torch to give him light and access to both his hands.

It would be then that Marcus would set upon mending hunter's wounds. He would pour a light amount of a herbal fluid onto him, which one could smell contained some degree of alcohol. A biting pain would occupy hunter's arm before it was cleaned and wiped. After this, honey was applied to further disinfect the wound and yarrow mixed with it to serve as an agent to stop the bleeding. As Marcus worked his process, some might see that there was nothing "magical" when it came to his healing unfortunately, as he tended to hunter with an attentive hand. The wounds would be quickly closed as Marcus stuck small pins in the flesh to keep the skin together. And then he finished it off by wrapping a bandage all along hunter's arm.

The others were left to watch him while he worked. And the nearing chittering of bugs had done nothing to dissuade him. Among the chittering, one could hear a small prayer he muttered to keep his mind steeled before it all.

"Asclepius, friend of mankind,
I pray to you, I seek your favor. May he
be healed of this affliction, may he recover
through and through, may vigor and vitality
return to him. Asclepius, compassionate one,

learned one, resourceful one, I ask your blessing."

Upon the end of this prayer, Marcus had been done. Hunter's arm would be bandaged, disinfected and the bleeding stifled. Hopefully it'd be enough to stop it from getting worse. And perhaps hunter might yet be able to move his arm. [Mend]

"That's the best I can do for you. Try it out. If not, then seek more aid."
He wasn't a "true" healer. But he tended to be what was available quite often when it came to emergencies.

"So long as we proceed deeper into the hive and distract the creatures, I am fine. We must make gains of some sort in this battle. I seek to avoid casualty. And if I have my way, we might all return. But this war. And we have a mission to do." Still, there were many ways up the mountain. Marcus took a look of his down the right cave.

"If we take this path, then perhaps we might take measures to make us. Glacier." He said, turning to the fox a moment before looking cautiously to the path which bugs approached.

"If are not fighting those ahead, then I suggest use the foxes you summoned to throw off our pursuers. They had confused them before. Try using them to confuse them once more and throw them off our path. Sending them searching can make for a good distraction. Lead them down the other tunnels, distract them or engage. I leave how up to you, if we do so. Let us move quickly."

With that, he made his decision.

"Right is as good as left. Come Watching. Do not get left behind. Scout ahead if you so wish." Marcus may have remained resolute to go forward. As he proceeded down the steep slope [Movement], he kept a lookout for any holes, ambushes or hazards. He used a free hand to keep steady and prevent any tripping or sliding that might occur. The group could hear the sound of bones which snapped in place for a moment, as Watching of Reflection hanged on the ceiling. Its tail wrapped around the tail spine which pierced the ceiling, as it lowered itself down to look upon Marcus as he began to apply medicinal aid to Hunter, its form slightly illuminated by the torch. Taking the time to recover from the battle since, as Marcus did so himself.

First flesh began to weave and regrow at a rapid pace, visible to the idea as blood clothed entirely over, a palish skin tone formed across the wounds it had endured before vanishing entirely under the short fur which grew out of it.

Seemingly once more as healthy as it had originally been in the first place, the little critter looked towards Hunter and then Devilius, pulling out the wooden board and painting upon it an answer in the torch light. "I wish I could help as well, but I don't have any experience within the healing magic I've seen so far, or other methods."

Obviously intending the first message for him before then showing the message below it to the saurian. "I concur, we've traveled only a short distance yet. It might be risky were we will end up if we take the steep path. But I'm willing to make that bet after seeing the ravage these things leave behind them."

As it would say so its focus instead was trained upon Marcus who stood yet still in front of it, its eyes seemed to follow the helmed man, almost resolute against him. Or perhaps resolute against the intonations by which he uttered them. It looked towards Glacier itself now as well, as well as anyone else wishing to read the following lines.

Ones which were quite rough in style. It had shown that its handwriting was quite elegant if it wished so had been like the previous time it wrote upon the wooden board, but it must not think it could spend much time writing such out at the moment.

"I would disagree with Marcus, the corpses which litter behind us make enough of a ruckus, and were we'll be heading down to seems to have enough of these creatures. I would rather even if our cover has been blown and our presence made aware that we avoid drawing the most noise we can yet still. We should head further, plan an ambush if we can, and make them freak out. Make them aware an intruder is among them, but cannot find them, until we hit them deeper inside and get out."

After it had written such out, it would be quick to tuck the wooden board into its satchel once more, beginning to scurry upon the ceiling down the right corridor. Heading slowly downward ahead of the group, once more after much time had passed already for it to be upon Marcus's singular request.

Making an effort to stay ahead of the others who were moving at a hopefully slower pace with the slowly fading light. Utilizing its darkvision lesser so to be aware of its entire environment and more for its direct field of vision, as it had felt tremors before and concentrated more effort upon its hearing to detect the sound of these creatures for now.

Glacier remained silent as Marcus gave medical aid to Hunter, only speaking up when the discussion arrived to their course of action, with Baharius proposing the right way. "I do hope the steepness will not become a hazard... but, I will not pose objection to it."

When Marcus suggested using Glacier's Foxes of Ice as a distraction, he began to conjure them, before spotting Watching's writing. He paused for a few seconds, mulling it over, before nodding with a decision. "You make a fair point, Watching... yet, drawing their attention is not mutually exclusive to ambushing the bugs." Drawing upon his magic, Glacier's minions formed up around him. "However, while I do not know how intelligent they may be... if I were to send my foxes down the other two, it is possible they could be wary of the third tunnel: Our path." Raising a forepaw to the middle tunnel, Glacier transmitted a command in analog. "%Travel down the center tunnel, and engage any bugs you encounter. The priority is to delay, not kill. Now, go at once!%" [1]. Turning back to address the others, he looked between Marcus and Watching. "Let them think we have chosen to scout ahead on only one path... and cause them to ignore the others. A suitable decoy for distraction... that also draws their attention to a singular location elsewhere, so that we may ambush from a differing direction... no?"

As the group prepared to move into the right tunnel, he followed behind, alongside Hunter who had his arm on Glacier's back. "You all go forward... I will be sticking with Hunter, and acting as a rear-guard for us." Plus protecting their injured ally, but Glacier didn't want to poke at Hunter's pride by saying that aloud. While walking, he would take glances backwards with thermal vision to ensure no bugs snuck up on them from behind [2 & 3].

He would talk off glaciers ear for the time being until they got to the tunnels, where the group would decide they should go to the right and he would agree. Right is right after all. He’d stand in the back and watch as glacier talked about sticking in the back with him. “Thanks dude! Really do appreciate it. You know, after this we should totally go out for food or something! Notes: Glacier Light armor: 1/2, HP: 2/3, Baharius: 1/3 Heavy armor, Marcus: Armor 1/2, Hunter: Arm is still useless

As the group decided which way to go down, Marcus would provide some aid to Hunter; the arm was still lip, and Hunter would notice the lack of any feeling of pain or touch, signaling there might be nerve damage in his arm. The torches the group were holding as well were now slowly starting to burn to their last source of fuel as the flames were flicking low now, the source of light slowly disappearing. If they didn't find a way to make another light source soon they were going to be enveloped in the darkness of the tunnels.

As the group decided to go down the right path, there was the sound of something making a thud. The thudding was in rhythm, one thud then a brief pause as three thuds in quick succession. Though the source of the sound was unknown at the time. After some time the watcher had the unfortunate luck to hit a patch of the rock that was look and upon gripping it, it fell from the ceiling causing the stone that came down from top of the tunnel to echo. The thudding sound was coming from deeper in the tunnel.

As the sound of rocks continued their echo, from the path behind them there was a screech the sound of more bugs quickly approaching their position from the way they had come. Rushing further down, the group came to a large 20x50 ft chamber, however right at the enterence was a 15ft pool that blocked their path, the substance unknown and they were going to have to make a decision quick attempt to identify it, take their chances, or attempt to leap over. [D grace challenge/C grade challenge for trying to determine the location of the thudding.]

Baharius nodded at Watcher's agreement. "I do not worry so much regarding the smaller entities," the rugged saurian admitted, "It's the big ones that worry me more. Their ability to manipulate gravity has already ruined my armor dearly. A solid hit or two will most surely destroy it... and I'd rather keep my organs and blood inside me instead of being flattened like a meat pie."

Glacier would command his ice foxes to scout the other tunnels, hoping they might cause further distracts and to keep them off their back for a moment. Baharius thought to be a clever strategy; hoping it would be enough. Hearing the injured hunter begin chatting ever so casually couldn't help but have him growl in his location, "Keep your voice down." he stated lowly towards the talkative hunter, "Save the small talk for after we get out of here..." His attention then returned to what was in front of them, while he gave a brief snort of exasperation.

"If we get out of here..." he finished quietly to himself.

Upon entering the right tunnel, Baharius immediately caught wind of the rhythmic thudding of something echoing in the distance. His head rose to get a better reading, with his slit ears attempting to get anything out of the ordinary. "That's odd..." he muttered quietly to the others, "Either we're close to the center... or we're approaching something else entirely." Though given their current position, they had surely no possible way in even determining what it could be or where exactly it was coming from. They had to be on guard... so long as they were relatively quiet they should be ok for the-

THUD-hud-ud-ud-ud-d-d...

The lumbering saurian froze upon hearing the rock hit the ground, hoping the gods they were truly alone here. Then came the noises... the terrible noises of an already familiar enemy. The dreadful feeling of his heart sinking into his stomach was now acute as he knew what was coming. "Damnit!" the saurian cursed through his gritted teeth, glaring at Watcher momentarily before focusing on the group, "We need to move. Now!"

Hauling ass to the next room, they'd be quickly stopped by a fifteen-foot pool blocking their path. He wasn't entirely sure what it was exactly - whether it was water or something else - but with bugs coming towards their position there was no time to stop and check. While his compatriots may be able to leap or do any fancy tricks to get over the pool, the heavy saurian was forced to swim through. It was time for a plunge of faith... as he leapt as far over the pool as possible. Once hitting the liquid, his powerful rudder-like tail would help propel him to the other side as fast as possible.

Should he make it across, Baharius would quickly attempt to figure out where the thudding might be located, raising his head to get a better sense. Perhaps he could sniff out any unique smells to help determine what they might be up against.

"You can thank me by focusing, even though I'm merely prevented your arm from being too vulnerable." He had spirit assuredly. It was odd how he seemed

As the group reached the bottom, Marcus turned instinctively towards a set of rocks falling from the ceiling and watched as they hit the ground. Then he turned around and heard the bugs coming. He didn't curse or swear. He only said. "We need to move quickly." He said, continuing until they got to the next room.

This presented something of a Dilemma. A pool was unknown fluid was set before them. It looked similar to the substance which coated the walls of this area. Marcus knew the bugs were known for their acid. But could this possibly be such a deterrent?

"My flame dwindles. But I have a lantern for such occasions" Currently, it hung off the belt on his hip.

"If Baharius moves, so do we." He said, looking over his allies. Of them, it seemed as though hunter was the least equipped to cross this chasm. Marcus reached out to him and grabbed Hunter forcefully. "I can make this jump with you. Hold tight to your hammer, Hunter." Marcus would then yank hunter by his good-arm into a fireman's carry. [Herculean Task] Bearing the weight of Hunter on both shoulder, Marcus' then began to sprint towards the pool.

With one explosive movement -- the Warrior takes off into the air before the edge of the pool, achieving the same height as he did before without over eight feet, and he opts to overshoot the distance by leaping 20 feet away. [Bound] Once across, he'd put Hunter down on his feet.

There was a strange noise nearby. And Marcus sought to see what it was. He raised what remains of his torch before looking forward. "What's that sound?" Marcus begins to scan the area with his eyes and ears. The darkness was soon to swallow his torch. But if his senses could pick something up, his perception leant towards discerning it's nature in a particular manner. Since this sound was something, he could hear, he sought to find out what it was and where it was. [Cup of Knowledge]

"Are you with us, Baharius?"
He wanted to ensure the dinosaur wasn't melting to the bone. He was the sturdy sort, but he hoped he would be sturdy enough what whatever danger the pool might pose.

As Watching moved across the ceiling up ahead of the group, attempting to make a proper amount of group in front, knowing naught as to what was ahead of itself and the others which it wanted to protect for the sake of such on its own merit.

Yet it froze for a second, as its hanged its entire weight upon its tail, it could hear through its sensitive ears the stranger of noises. Perking up as far as they could, it waited for another repetition of what was the same rhythym to echo once more. It had very little time, to write down a message of its own, but as it heard Baharius exclaim like it had done so itself Watching nodded towards him.

However, as it moved forward, whether due to its haste marking its own tragic downfall, or whether due to the pure stroke of unfortunate luck as its hand grasped onto a piece of rock to move forward. Though it still kept itself secure upon the ceiling, the fragility of the rock caused a piece to break off, and as it fell to shatter upon the stone surface the sound echoed throughout the tunnel. As whatever sound of the bugs which had fought the foxes perhaps had finished, it was all too loud and clear.

Just as loud and clear as the bugs which began to rush downward from the way whence they had come from. Rushing downward upon the ceiling along the rest of the group they came upon the large chamber which opened up in front of them. Just as the last flickers of the torch which Marcus held began to die out entirely. It had its hands and tail full as it was in the situation, almost, but as the darkness would soon enough begin to consume them it hoped that another individual would start another light for the group soon, so it had not to strain its efforts by the usage of its darkvision.

As it not only saw but heard the gigantic thud of Baharius jumping and swimming to make his way through the strange puddle of murky liquid which consumed the entrance of the chamber in front of them it quickly began to clamber forward upon the ceiling as it had down so much so through its entire travel here. Making a swinging jump through the use of a tail spine, its chord and its tail if it had to do so. But preferably sticking to the ceiling as it were at the moment. [1]

Yet as it hopefully had crossed the puddle of goop overhead rather then through vaulting across it or swimming through it, Watching began to take away the focus it had upon its eyesight, and rather putting as much attention as it could towards its hearing. Knowing it had already unwillingly brought the attention of the bugs upon them, it would use one of its two tail spines against the rocky surface of the ceiling. In a sheer attempt of creating sound within the room, and have more of a clue as to a direction from which the rhythmic thumping might arise from.

As it looked forward, whilst thumping its tail spine behind it, to know where the thumping sound might roughly be coming from, even with the echo. Hopefully assisted by whatever attempts its companions might themselves make at this moment as they try to give direction to the origins of the sound themselves. [2 + 3]

Glacier gave a silent nod, as he patiently listened to Hunter talk. Food... that would be nice idea, if he could actually eat. He shook his head; there were far more important things to think about right now.

...

As the group made their way down, Glacier startled at the sudden thudding noise, looking back to check for anything. There was nothing behind them though, not yet, at least. Shortly after, rocks fell from the ceiling, prompting Glacier to look up at Watching in worry. These tunnels were quite unstable...

SCREEEEEE!

Oh, there were the bugs, and by the sounds of it they were fast approaching from the rear. "Yes, we must..." Hearing both Baharious & Marcus say they needed to move quickly, Glacier agreed, beginning to walk faster. Soon enough, they were presented with a large chamber, and a pool of an unknown substance in front of them. With the screeching increasing behind them, Glacier looked between the others, in order to see their responses.

Glacier watched with a modicum of surprise at Baharious' straightforward approach, and as for Hunter, the glacial fox was glad to see that Marcus had that problem solved. With Watching on the ceiling, Glacier quickly followed behind his allies, gathering mana with his core. In a burst of magical force, he teleported forward, about two-thirds of the way over the pool; before he could fall, another teleporting burst followed right after, landing Glacier on the other side about five feet away from the pool [1 & 2].

Landing at the new position, Glacier took a moment to see if everyone else had made it across safely "Is everyone here?". Not wanting to be caught off-guard, he then began to scan the room with his thermal vision, investigating his surroundings to help find the source of the sound, or anything else of significance [3].

Hunter would quiet down after baharius scolded him, gettting lost in his own thoughts soon after. He flexed his fingers and they moved slowly,he didn’t feel anything as they came into contact with the palm of his hand. Strange, he’d get it checked out when he left. At the insects scream and the groups rush, he’d rush as well before getting to the pool. He planned to swim but Marcus swung him around and put him on his shoulder. His face turned crimson from embarrassment as Marcus jumped over with him like it was nothing. He shifted some of his ruffled hair back and looked away, his face still pink. “Thanks i guess.” He’d put his arm out as he saw baharius swimming, doing his best to help the saurian reptile onto land. As he eyed the torch in baharius’s hand he’d request for it, taking it and observing it. The bottom was partially wet and the fire was dwindling but.. He’d have his hammer still in his hand and he’d strike it against the floor a few times, enough for the rune to activate and for it to ignite in a pink flame. He’d hold it close to the torch as it ignited it into a flame as well, although the regular color (the reason for this was because his had runes). He’d smile a bit and hold it out to let it illuminate the room. He’d turn around and look at Marcus who had just made the jump. “H-Here you go.” The man would hand the torch to Marcus and let the dimmer light hide the pink blush on his face as he handed it to the man who had carried him. Just looking at him brought it to mind. He’d never be able to get it out of his mind at this point.

OOC: I took some liberties with the opening narration. Rp will run on a 3 day schedule, so post at least once in the 72 hours. Rounds may go faster if we post faster. Keep in mind advanced rules. Failure to post will be treated the same as a failure to deal with the situation at hand. Ask any questions that need asking, but I can only answer those appropriate to answer during worlds. Conditions for this rp will involve how many bugs are killed and how many participants return alive per faction. Factions with fewer members will receive a bonus throughout the rp to ensure the other factions do not easily outdo them. Assume ability cooldowns always matter for the duration of this rp.

As the group moved across the the pool of strange goop, Baharius was the only one that swam through it when he fell a little short. As the giant lizard reached the other side, he looked down to see what remained of his armor disintegrate. Though the screeching was still fast approaching and it was louder. Now fully in the room, there was a single tunnel that looked like it would lead further down.

As the group tried to look or the thumbing, at the corner of the room there was a device that would raise up and drop. When it dropped the thudding sound was made. Though the exact reason fo the device was unknown. But there was a sudden tremor in the cave that knocked some rocks loose from the ceiling that fell into the pool of goop. The chittering was now almost deafening signaling the bugs were about to reach the chamber.

The passageways, both leading back and going forward, still remained open. The sounds of rocks falling in the distance was heard though the origin of what made it could not be seen as the room was lit enough to determine if there was anything in the immediate area.

Watching could in its attempt to make out everything around it listen and hear audibly the searing sound of something almost burning away, as it saw the large dwarf form of Baharius stand out from the listless brackish pool of goop. The substance which seemed like it swallowed any light which attempted to pass through it from the barest of light still remaining in the chamber. And one which had eaten away at the flesh and Armour of the mighty saurian.

Clearly showing just how horrible of a substance it was to have so little time to do anything of such. It felt horrified knowing how ominous this could spell for the group though, as they might still face another enemy within these tunnels, and to have nothing to offer protection besides the hardened scales of his skin against the horrible mandibles these bugs yielded? A terrible idea.

Looking downward together with the others, as they all began to put their heads together in this dimly lit chamber, barely illuminated by the torch light, they found a small machine. Something which looked terribly out of place for these tunnels which were covered in an awful mucus and made out of rock. An item which had been planted here by whoever had somehow gotten through these tunnels before them? Was it someone who was staying in the camp having snuck through before the raid was to take place, or was it even more recent then that? Or had someone gone through a set of tunnels which was entirely unknown to the combined effort of both the Otenzian and See armies?

Whatever the situation was, with each thump of the machine there was a tremor that could be felt, obviously being the thing which has caused perhaps so much of area to grow unstable in the first place. And maybe the reason why many of the bugs were still gathered around here so deep, instead of at the front lines where the army stood? Still there was little time by the chattering noise coming from whence they came, and it was either do or die at this point.

Hearing the sounds of falling rocks in the distance it wasn't clear on what was happening where, but Purpler would rush forwards towards the machine, and attempt to pull it out of the ground. To stop it from continuing the destruction it was causing at this moment without their control. Before looking towards the others, attempting to quickly write down on its board and putting it away as quickly as possible. "We don't know where this tunnel goes, but it goes down. Maybe we'll never found our way out. I propose we face these bugs, kill them, and if this thing can be used to grab their attention, then do so where we can retreat."

Actions:
1 + 2.
Movement Action to get to the machine itself which was all the way in the corner of the room from the ceiling.

3. Pulling the machine out of the ground and disengaging it if possible, or using its tail to hold the object for now.

"I am sorry my friend." He said to Baharius briefly. It turned out as he feared -- the bugs were, indeed, well known for their acid. Baharius was worse for wear, though thankfully his tough hide seemed to take the brunt of the damage for him.

Taking the torch from Hunter, Marcus shone the light on it. Spear remained tied to his back, and he used one hand to draw his mythic gladius, ironically forged for him by the mischievous hands of Fae he'd met beforehand. The blade had served him well, and he'd seen fit to rely on it in the face of whatever danger lay.

But danger came in the face of an unknown device. It seemed mechanical rather than organic in nature. With each thud, rocks seemed to fall from above. It almost seemed like it was this device that was making the cave unstable and prone to disruption. The bugs seemed as though they might be sophisticated...but not this sophisticated. Such a device as this appeared to be grossly out of place.

Watching ran up to the device and began to move to pick it up out the ground.

"If this device is ours they ought to have briefed us. That and...it would endanger us further to be in here." Marcus would walk up to the device and grasp it with both hands. If it was so able, he would seek to aide watching in ripping it out of the ground. [Herculean Task] Whatever they were going to do -- it had to be done quickly.

An explosion had gone off somewhere. And he wondered if the other team had managed to accomplish the mission. Rico's team, in particular, certainly seemed to be doing an excellent job of pulling the aggro. Whether or not such a thing was a success had been unknown. "It seems at least one of the bombs has gone off." He said, letting the word hang in the air. In truth, that had been what he was waiting for, before he decided to go back.

Going in deeper made more sense when the other squads needed back up and whenever it appeared that. But now, Marcus knew the reasoning to stay inside the cave was dwindling. The bombers seemed as though they would be the ones more well-suited to wreaking havoc upon the cave.

"If we are to remain here, let it be known that this place place may be apt to be unstable. Be wary of collapse." If Marcus had been able to detect if a room was unstable before, he would have done so. He leaned his spear up against the wall and placed his hand against it. He sought to see if this room was weakened.

Among his scans, he sought to see where the rocks out of earshot had fallen. The screeching of the bugs was deafening. They'd be upon them soon. But he would seek to let them come. [Cup of knowledge]

Once finished, he took his hand off the wall, picked up his spear from the wall, and prepared himself for battle.

"Ready yourself then. They are upon us. We'll have to fight our way back."

As Baharius plunged into the mysterious goop, he wouldn't feel anything right away. Aside from being slightly thicker than water, the saurian didn't have a problem swimming to the other side through this void-black substance. However the hulking beast would feel a tingling sensation irritating his hide, not enough to cause significant pain or damage but he knew it wasn't good. Nonetheless, he focused on getting to the other side with fail. As he emerged to the other side, attempting to pull himself out of the pool, Hunter would attempt to help him up. He'd find it difficult given how massive and bulky Baharius would be, but nonetheless it would help.

"Thanks." Baharius grunted at Hunter as he hauled himself to land. He then called out to Marcus, asking if he was still with them, "I'm here." the saurian confirmed bluntly. He then tried wiping away the goop from his hulking arms and shaking off whatever was still on his body. He was relatively unharmed... but as he looked down at himself he'd notice that something crucial was missing.

His battered armor, already on its last legs, had disintegrated; leaving him almost entirely naked.

"Ugh..." Baharius groaned irritably with a snort, "How indecent."

Thankfully, his item bag was still relatively in tact, something he was more than thankful for. Really he was more so annoyed than ashamed of being caught without his attire (no you cannot see any of his bits either, shut it), knowing it would cost a few pretty coins to get a new set of armor. The liquid must have been acidic, or at the very least metal-eating if nothing else. At least he now knew not to enter the substance again... if he couldn't help it anyways. Nevertheless, without an exterior source of protection, he now had to rely solely on his scaly hide to protect him against the terrible bugs. No matter how little, his chances of surviving this mission had decreased ever so slightly.

With their light nearly expunged, now was the perfect time for Baharius to take out his own torch - amongst the last light in this cursed place. While mildly damp at the bottom, it could still be properly lit. Hearing Hunter requesting to light it, the saurian agreed to it with a nod. "If you'd be so kind." he thanked, seeing him strike a bright purple flame with his hammer and using it to light the torch. When asked if Marcus could have it, Baharius gave a wary but accepting nod.

But now there was no time to reflect on everything, as they could all hear the bugs' terrible chattering heralding their iminent arrival. And there was still that incessant thumping that was present... though they were now able to pinpoint it to being roughly at the corner of the room. Moving towards it, he'd notice that the thumping came from a device of some sort. Was this what was attracting the bugs? It had to be. Furthermore, WHY is it here? But before he could do anything with it, another tremor rocked the room as loose rocks began falling into the ground and goop. Watcher quickly moved to retrieve the device - being hand-held in nature. At least one thing had been dealt with...

Now they faced the toughest dilemma.

Watcher relayed the situation playing before them, asking whether they should leave now and hope the device grabs the attention of the bugs, or that they continue with the mission and see to its end. Without knowing the state of the other teams down here, they had no idea whether they were successful in their own objectives, or if they had failed and worse yet, died in these dark, damp tunnels. They had done relatively well so far, but with their experience with the bugs already - seeing what they can do - Baharius felt like their chances moving forward were slim to none. How long could they - the four of them - last against a seemingly endless wave of bugs?

He was reluctant in joining this crusade from the moment he was asked to join; though seeing the menace before them he also understood that this was a threat that should not be left rampant. The question here was simple... could this be successfully accomplished with four souls even at the cost of their own lives? Or would they all die in vain, having accomplished nothing to halt the horde, and their names reduced to nothing but mere footnotes? Was it worth it? Was all of this worth the trouble?

Marcus had already raised some reasonable concerns, both in regards to the item and the instability of the cave as a whole.

It wouldn't be long Baharius would come to his own conclusion; his survival instincts taking over the sudden realization of it all.

"This is a lost cause." the saurian sternly declared, his voice bitter and discontent. It wasn't directed at his teammates, rather at the folks who orchestrated this whole event. Something's off here... and he refused to be part of a lemming scheme. Nor would he want to encourage the others to keep moving forth at this rate. He turned to Watcher and nodded. "Agreed." he hastily replied, "We'll head for the surface... so long as we survive what's to come."

Realizing he gave his own torch away, he couldn't help but ask, "Anyone have a spare torch I can use?"

Expecting a hellish battle coming their way, Baharius unhinges the great sword on his sail, as he clangs it against the ground. "Just give me a wide berth..." he requested towards everyone, with emphasis towards Marcus, "For I do not intend to hold back." Dragging the blade around him, it began sparking of the hard rock, before the saurian wields it into his battle stance. With a deep breath, the saurian would then unleash a battle cry in the form of an imposing [Bestial Roar E], hoping to hype up his teammates and hopefully intimidate at least SOME of the bugs if nothing else.

They need every advantage they can get; even if they're the most minute.

Glacier worriedly glanced at Baharius; while their scaled ally seemed unharmed, the dissolved armor showed just how dangerous that pool was. However, his attention would then be drawn, like the others', to a machine sitting in the corner of the cave. As Watching & Marcus went to retrieve it, Glacier tilted his head. "Some kind of... thumper? We must ask about this... upon our return." Assuming they made it back at all, but that didn't seem a good thing to think aloud.

Upon seeing Watching's writing, as well as hearing Marcus and Baharius speak, Glacier nodded deeply. "I fully agree... I feel we have done our duty, of distracting the hive."

Seeing everyone prepare, Glacier decided to bring the torch out of his pocket dimension, which went unused as he could not hold it [1]. Walking over to Baharius, Glacier held the torch in his jaws, lifting his head so that Beharius could grab it. "We will need good light to fight the bugs again... as you are one of our frontline fighters, please have mine... for I cannot use it." [2].

Readying himself for the coming combat, Glacier moved to the side of the cave and out of Baharius' way. Looking around, he would continue to scan the room, in case any surprises made themselves known [3].

(Edit: Handing torch to Baharius instead of Hunter, as Hunter is unable to hold two things at once)

TLDR: A force of PC's and NPCS are about to breach the bug hive to create a distraction. You have survived, or well most of you.

Notes: Glacier Light armor: 1/2, HP: 2/3, Baharius: 0/3 Heavy armor, Marcus: Armor 1/2, Hunter: Arm is still useless

Watcher reached the device and pulled it out of the ground, and quickly disengaged the device. the device itself wasn't all that big around the size of an American football. There was not much wait to it, the scans around the room revealed nothing new and there was the sound of a horn that blew through the cave. Marcus wouldn't notice any instabilities in the rocks here at this moment.

Accompanied with the sound of the horn the group could hear shouting, coming from the tunnel that they had come down from. The sounds quickly had a body attached to them as a squad of fae appeared in the tunnel holding torches. "Time to get out of the tunnels. The distraction was a success and we got orders to get everyone out of the tunnel before any explosions seal off the area." They tossed over a ladder to help the group get back across the pool of goop.

Once they reached the surface, the camp was chaotic as new orders were being issues to the area, though the exact nature of what was going on was yet to be determined.

[Alright everyone congrats on surviving and being the lowest attrition rate of worlds! Grade will be out this week.]

Once again, congratulations on having the lowest attrition rate of worlds! This is a Fae/Empire Victory, so point to them, though. There was also no sabotage team here, so by default, unless you died to the bugs, you guys would have won.
Epilogue

As the group reached the surface within a few hours, more troops poured into the area, pushing the bugs further and further into their nests. Several dispatches were sent out, the service to each respected by their sides military. The group was lovingly named Rico's Roughnecks upon completion of the mission. Earning themselves a place in their respective militaries and, along with the dispatches, the Fae and Empire both rewarded those who took part in the mission well for their mission's intent.
