Lauren Linn

Lauren had been patiently waiting for her name to be drawn, though patience alone would not be enough to tide her over. As those before her were called up and opened up the various presents she looked at the items that were revealed. Some were practical while others weren't, though all seemed to be useful in some way or another... At least, she hoped so. Despite knowing about the... unique traits of the present she brought, she had her doubts that anyone would be able to handle its blistering temper.

As Lauren finally heard her name get called she stood up. She had plenty of time to think about whether she wanted to steal from one of the others, or if she should just open one of the unopened presents. Though she made her decision the moment she thought about her recent past. In need of a way to safely hide or flee from those who'd wish harm upon her, she strode up to Malik and swiped the Invisibility Cloak from the Yellow Present he had stolen from Odin.
"I'll be taking this if you don't mind." Lauren briefly commented before returning to her seat, eager to show it off to Cahron once she saw him again. At least, that was assuming she left the gift exchange with it still in hand.

Asahi had been lured in by cute girls as so often happened to him in life. Thus, he found himself in a room full of complete strangers glass of eggnog in hand. He had watched a number of people go up to select a gift or to steal one from another person. Whenever a cutie went up he carefully checked them out, and when they were not to his taste he casually drank his eggnog and just averted his eyes politely. When his name was called he was caught completely off guard. His attention was split between the cutie who had taken the yellow present and the telekinetic thief. He turned to the hostess very slowly as his mind processed what was going on and when it finally caught up he quickly went up and took the hot pink present. A deep blush of embarrassment on his face as he did so.

I have de-aged Miiya for this RP in order to stay somewhat canon-ish with the Lauren and Cahron storyline. For this RP she is around 16 years old and does not have a prosthetic wingtip, unlike her profile.

Miiya was having a great time. A few days earlier, she’d espied the most recent of the string of Cahron’s handbills she’d been following--the one that indicated he was putting on shows in Hyroth. Not long after that, she’d finally been reunited with her older sibling. In the days that followed, the two had caught each other up on what had been happening in their respective lives since the typhoon in Otenzel.

One of those events was attending the festivities with Miiya this very night. Miiya had liked Lauren from the moment they were introduced. Yes, she might be a little older than Cahron, but she was an elf--the ageless leaf-ears were always going to be older than pretty much anyone, and it was about time her brother had a little maturity in his life. Miiya had learned it was Lauren she had to thank for the string of playbills that she’d followed to her sibling reunion. The elfmaid was too modest to say so, but Cahron had done nothing to hide the fact that Lauren had been more concerned about Miiya’s well-being than her own brother.

So, she’d ken to the elfmaid the past few days, accompanying her on holiday shopping trips, stealing coin from her brother to treat them to desserts, salon visits, and manicures. Miiya had barely known the word before--and she wasn’t really sold on the idea of paying someone to trim and paint nails that she could gnaw down herself for free, but the hand massage was nice--and Miiya really loved seeing how much it piqued her brother to spend his money and steal his time with his girlfriend on frivolities. Just the memory of how frustrated he had looked--when the pair had returned and she’d shown off her newly polished and buffed nails--and how he’d been unable to take revenge on her due to Lauren’s presence--made Miiya giggle.

Or maybe it was the eggnog.

Speaking of which. “Hang on, I’ll go get us some more eggnog.” the sprightly Aerial said. Miiya wasn’t much of a drinker--for one thing, she was too young--and she’d been careful not to touch (or get roped into touching) the stuff while she’d been on her own. However, accompanied by Lauren--and with the brandy coming drowned in a sweet high-calorie concoction--she was making an exception tonight. Hot, sweet, thick, and fun. Perfect for a post-snowball-fight celebration. Miiya thought to herself as she returned to their table with a pair of drinks. The girl had taken part in the epic war of packed and thrown snow earlier. Despite being a bit older than most of the participants, Miiya had felt absolutely no compunction about blasting hats off heads or rifling snowflakes down necklines. After all, they started it. She reasoned--thinking of the errant snowball that had poofed into powder against her folded wings.

The Aerial had an arm like a sling and, while she had (mostly) spared the younger children, bigger kids and other teens had been fair game for her aerial bombardment. Miiya had used her natural advantages to full effect, flying to rooftops to gather nigh-unlimited ammunition, then alternately carpet-bombing and strafing her adversaries with high-velocity snow. When the other children made the mistake of gathering too closely together, the Aerial had dropped into their midst and backed wind, mercilessly blasting them with a blizzard of blown snow from her downwash.

Miiya might have dominated the snowball fight, but that did not mean she hadn’t taken her share of hits. Her cheeks were still rosy from taking plenty of snowballs to the face and her short-cropped hair and wings were still drying. “Glad we got seats by the fire.” Miiya said to Lauren as she sat and unfolded her wings, draping them over the back of her chair. The cheery blaze was just as warming as the festive atmosphere and the liquor in her drink. “Thanks, again, for coming along.” she said to the elfmaid. “I’ve been alone a lot lately, and it’s nice to be with friends and family for the holiday.” Miiya got a little quiet for a few minutes, wondering if her friend, Storm Breaker, was spending the festive season with anyone.

The gift Miiya had brought was from her days of fighting crime alongside the heroic Dragonet woman. Storm Breaker had been very excited about the Widersean magitech. Miiya had thought it was neat, but she found that it didn’t really have the range she needed as a flyer. Hopefully somebody here can make better use of it. She thought.

”I’m serious about what I said earlier, though.” Miiya’s wandering attention had returned to Lauren. “Don’t let me monopolize all yer time. I totally will; yer super fun to hang out with, and I love how it bugs Cah.” Miiya giggled again, taking another sip of eggnog. Then Lauren’s name was called and she stole the invisibility cloak.

As Lauren returned to their table with her prize clutched firmly in hand, Miiya grinned at her. “Haha! That was cold; awesome!” she congratulated her brother’s elvin beau. She hoped Lauren turned that chilly shoulder on Cahron now and then--at least half as often as her dork of a brother deserved. As she’d watched Lauren, Miiya hadn’t missed Arashi kinda obviously checking her out. As much as she liked to razz her brother, Miiya was on his side, and the scruffy catboy making eyes at Lauren ruffled her literal feathers a little.

So, all the better when Arashi unwrapped a plushy stuffed toy in its own little carrying case. Dude, that is seriously cute as shu. Miiya’s eyes lit up with greed. “Oh, I’ma yfrettin havin’ that!” She growled only half-playfully as she stood when her name was called next.

Miiya wasn’t a bird, but she could emulate one pretty convincingly when she wanted to. Right now she looked the part of a raptor (if a kinda diminutive one) as she stalked over to Arashi. Putting on her most serious mean girl face she stopped before the man, hands on hips. She tilted her head, indicating Lauren. “She’s taken, dude.” Miiya chirped loudly enough for the entire tavern to hear. “And so is this! YOINK!!” Miiya laughed as she snatched the plushie away from the (hopefully super-embarrassed) catguy, and then scampered back to her seat. The winged girl had wanted to do a slay walk back, but her bravado had collapsed at the last second, and even one-and-a-half glasses of eggnog wasn’t enough liquid courage to buoy it back up. Also those ears were kinda cute Miiya was embarrassed as hell by the scene she’d just made. Oh shu, was that performance awesome or terrible? She wondered, mashing her face into the stuffie to hide the blush climbing her neck. Probably a bit of both.

Either way, she hoped nobody re-stole her stolen gift. But if they do, I totally probably deserve it.

Asahi was only slightly stunned as the bird girl stalked up to him. She was doing her level best to give him an angry and dangerous look. This was something he was not unaccustomed to, after all, at some point he had a little sister and she would do the exact same bullshit to him. He was also certain she was going to steal from him otherwise she had no real reason to come up to him. This was part of the game so he paid it no mind. What he did mind however was her suddenly outing him.

“She’s taken, dude.”

Those loud ass words and her gesture to the cutie he had been checking out brought an immediate red to his cheeks and the tip of ears. Then with a yoink she was gone, darting back across the room. She seemed a bit younger than himself, but he would not be the only one embarrassed this day, or more to the point he had no real shame.

" Your friend might be taken but what about yourself! " He yelled after her retreating form. " I mean you look pretty damn cute too! What about a holiday date after this eh?!"

He didn't expect or even really wait for a reply. He was not a man with much for game and so when the seeming hostess reminded him to fetch or steal himself a gift he walked his red faced ass up to the gifts and took the white one.

Not paying as much attention to the back and forth, with the others, Ryuuji was more focused on what was available.
