Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

"I was trying to figure out where to go when I heard someone in pain. I knock on the door and the woman, Skylynn, opened it. Once she opened the door she started to have contractions right then. Tiffany knocked on the door, begging for help and I let her in. They needed help and I wasn't going to abandon two pregnant women who need help badly," Miyuki states as she watches the street, "Risky, yes, but in my eyes, if risking my life means that other would be safe then I will take that risk."

@Mercer

Holliday chuckled to himself a bit. "Some days you're lucky and other days you just aren't. Still, morally speaking, you did the right thing. I can respect that. From a survivalists standpoint though, not the best choice. So I recommend that you be careful. It's unfortunate, but they will slow you down. How much? I can't tell you that. They did survive for months on their own so you should be safe. Just stay on your toes."

Down the road Holliday spotted a lone Zed. It was slowly limping in their direction, but was still a quarter mile out. He'd let it get closer before he made any kind of attempt to kill it. His rifle utilized the same pistol cartridge as his revolvers and wouldn't reach that far accurately. When he did use a bullet he wanted it to count. In order for that to happen it would need to limp just a bit closer.

Holliday set his rifle down and took a seat facing Miyuki. He reached his hand into his shirt pocket and pulled out two white sticks with wrappers around their ends. He pulled one of the wrappers off to reveal a bright red piece of hard candy which he popped in his mouth. "Catch," he yelled as he tossed the other lollipop to the archer, "I hope you like grape. So what's you're story? I like to know the people Im working with."

Jennifer took the pills, and immediately swallowed them.

"They're for a heart transplant, Aiden," Jennifer started. "Two years ago, I contracted an echovirus. The result was myocarditis. I needed to get a heart transplant, as a result. The immune system of the human body is great. It flags and destroys invaders to keep the person safe. However, what it cannot distinguish is the difference between a bacterium or virus and a donor heart. The heart isn't from this body. Therefore, the immune system attacks it, and will kill it. This medication, immunosuppressants, suppress the body's immune system," she says, turning her head to look at Aiden, "and keep my immune system from killing my donor heart. Without this medication, I die. I die a slow, painful death. If I don't have these pills, I'll be dead. As you can see, I'm running out. And I need more. So that's why I'm here. I'm trying to get gas for this car so I can set out and find what I need to live. So, that's my story."

Jennifer hates knowing how her life is so dependent on medication to keep her alive. It's her biggest setback as a survivor.

"Say, what's up with you and those people on the roof? Are you guys a group or something? That one guy clearly doesn't want to be a part of it," she questions, glancing up at the man who was trying to leave, then back at Aiden.

Miyuki catches the lollipop and looks at it closely, 'sealed all the way so he didn't do anything to it' She opens it and pops it in her mouth. 'Haven't had one in months.' she thought as she sits back, "What is there to tell? I was a regular girl who graduated from high school early. I was in honor classes and friends. I had my mom, dad, brother and two sisters......well before....you know." she says as she looks down, "there isn't really anything to tell. What about you?" She asks as she looks over at Holliday.
Skylynn nodded her head slowly to Tiffany's suggestion of massaging her back and she bit her lower lip. "God. Arik was supposed to be here. But he had to go and play hero." She murmured, her heart aching for her husband.
"Thank you. For helping me I mean." She said, talking to everyone that was in the room.

(@Mercer @Shimakage Thunder )
Tiffany crawled onto the bed and behind Skylynn and began massaging her back. She couldn't help but feel bad for the other girl when she talked about her husband. "I lost my husband shortly after you did. He passed away in a plane crash though..." She said, remembering that she was a widow as well. After a few more minutes she slipped off the bed so that she can go see how much Skylynn has dilated. "Okay, I'm gonna need you to bend your legs. I need to see how much you've dilated so I can tell you when it is time to push."

Mercer said:
Holliday found the sterilizer he had been looking for in the form of a bottle of whisky. The alcohol percentage was high enough that it would clean any site of bacteria. After washing his hands he ran back to meet the two pregnant women. He handed the asian the liquor. "Here this will help prevent infection. It can also help deal with the pain need be. Right now you only need to focus on keeping her calm. Very, very, calm. Im going to hand you the phone I have with my med book on it. Read it and do exactly what it tells you. The process should happen naturally and should be easy, all you will need to do is support baby on it's way out and clean it. Once thats done cut the umbilical cord. I need to get to the roof. Chances are all this commotion will attract more Zeds, if thats the case you'll need to snipers to cover both sides."
When he was giving them the information he headed for the roof just as he said. There he found Miyuki ready with her bow. "Greetings, I thought you might need a little extra help up here. That way we can cover all angles." He reached behind to his back and slowly slid his Winchester out of the scabbard slung on his back. When he did he smoothly racked the lever so a round would chamber in the cartridge. "So how'd you get involved with these women?" He as inquisitively.
When handed the Bottle of Liquor, Tiffany got a little skeptical, since Alcohol was especially bad for pregnant women. However, she was only going to use it to sterilize and clean the area and make sure that it was clean. The phone with the Med Book on the other hand, was probably going to be more useful so she could figure out how much Skylynn has dilated. She started with grabbing a clean towel from inside a nearby closet and setting it where her hands were going to be when the delivery process begins. She also made sure that the scissors that she was going to use to cut the umbilical cord was sterilized along with other medical equipment that she could need. After Holliday left, Tiffany returned her attention to Skylynn. To help keep the woman calm, Tiffany continued to give her a backrub while continually checking how much she has dilated.

Holliday kept his eyes trained on the approaching walker the entire time Miyuki talked. He believed that he should still let it get closer before he took the shot. That would still take a few more minutes. "Oh me, not much to tell. School wise I had good grades in classes similar to what you were taking. I was also a pro shooter and avid hunter. Thats the reason why I'm skilled as I am and have supplies many others don't. I was also a bit of a loaner, which honestly has made these last for months easier. Mother is gone, father is gone, brother is gone, girlfriend is gone, everyone I ever got close to is gone. Same goes for most people I would expect. Still I've been traveling on my own since the dead rose and honestly prefer it that way. The only real difference between me and others since the apocalypse is the number of miles I have traveled since the whole thing started. In case you wanted to head west, I can safely say its gone to hell just like everywhere else. Probably worse because of the damn raiders." The zombie was now and range and Holliday shouldered his rifle quickly and fired off a quick shot. The bullet landed and the zombie dropped dead.

Miyuki looks over at the rifle, "You shouldn't shoot like that, it was only one. The noise will just bring more." she saws as she sees another one walking around the street. She decided not to kill it or at least not yet as it would do nothing but waste her arrows. "And I'm sorry for your lost." She says as she looks over at Holliday, "must not have been easy."

Holliday shook his head, "No it wasn't easy. Ive avoided people ever since Ive lost them, I don't want to go through it all again. Still, looking back it doesn't matter. In the end none of this will matter, you know that right. We could live a long happy life, but this will be the end. After the meteor hit dinosaurs lived on for thousands of years, where are they now. God has rolled his dice and the world will start anew. I don't really have a noble reason for surviving like most others. I just want to stick around as long as I can in order to show whoever runs the cosmos that I will not bow."

"So I move on from place to place, always trying to see whats just around the bend. Like the bear who went over the mountain to see what he could see. Ive been to several places where I could have just bunkered down and stayed hidden away, but I could never do it. Perhaps I'm just looking to meet my end, to be put back into my place. I don't know. Sorry to give you that depressing rant, been a while since I had the chance to talk with someone."

Holliday leaned back and took a deep breath. Then he racked the lever to his rifle quickly once more, ejecting the spent cartridge from the chamber and replacing it with a live one. Holliday then reloaded the magazine through the loading gate on the frame's side with cartridges from his belt and then pocketed the empty casing. "Oh and don't worry about the sound so much. The rounds I use I made myself for competition. They have lighter powder charges than normal to reduce the recoil. A side effect is that they don't make as loud of a bang. The sound doesn't reach as far as you think it does."

"I'm just being careful." Miyuki says as she thinks, not really having anything to say to that, She takes out a rock from her quiver and starts sharpening the rock spears she had on her hand made arrows to keep them sharp. She hasn't found too many hunting arrows so she had to learn how to make them herself. "I guess your right."

@Mercer

Holliday looked at Miyuki with curiosity as she sharpens her arrows. "I might have some, you know." He said eventually, "Arrows that is, and I mean good ones. It's a big might but it's possible. We had a bow broken bow and some arrows with it. I just can't remember if my brother had taken it or if I had stored it in a box and forgotten it. When I get back to my truck I can check for you if you'd like. I'm sure what you have right now isn't the best in the way of aerodynamics."

"I will be honest it isn't but it's better then nothing." She says as she looks at her arrows, "If you have some arrows that would help thanks." She says as continues to sharpen the other arrows as well. "The reason that these work is that not only they are plentiful but that if you make them just right, they are almost as good as hunting arrows." she states as she finishes with her arrows, making them sharp to her liking and puts her rock away. "How do you not run out of bullets?"

There always seems to be someone with a tougher life than one's own. To be honest, Aidan had no idea how Jennifer would get by, being that medicine was already starting to become scarce as is. The pills sounded as though they were simply pushing off the inevitable in this situation but she naturally wouldn't say that. Anyway, if the girl had made it this far, who was to say she couldn't take care of herself. While more information was always appreciated, now didn't seem like a time to ask for one's life story.

"Sounds like a tough life," Aidan looked to the ground above them, "As for everyone above us. I'm not entirely sure what we are yet. Not much has really been agreed upon but they did save my ass just a little while ago so I think I might stick around for a little bit, least till I can make it up somehow. As for the guy, I don't really know what his problem is but no one is going to force him to stay."

She looked around and took note of the car nearest them. Aidan would like to say that she was sure this was Jennifer's car but in reality, she hadn't really taken note as to how many vehicles happened to be parked at the supposedly abandoned gas station. Across the road the small hoard stood. For all she knew, they might switch their interest and come back at some point. Perhaps it would be best to move this interaction along.

"That the car you wanted to fill up?" she didn't know if this station had anything left in it but if there was anything, chances are Jennifer would want it sooner rather than later, "Cause you can go ahead."

@Jennifer Shotain

"You guys definitely didn't seem like a group when I first showed up. You seemed like a band of misfits on a roof. Whatever you guys become, I wish you all luck. And, yes, the car. I want to test the pumps first, and see if anything comes out."

Jennifer turned to the people on the roof.

"I hope you guys don't shoot me while I test out the gas pumps," she yelled to them, particularly, the man with the gun that threatened to shoot her.

Turning back to the pumps and walking over to them, Jennifer doubted she could get anything from them. When "shit hit the fan," as some say, most people got as much gas as they would need. And most likely, they cleared this station of gas. But knowing this is Jennifer's only shot, she tested the pumps. The gas station itself looked ramshackle, but this seemed to be the case even before the undead started walking around, as it was too ramshackle to be that way in the little amount of time. Regardless of the condition it was in, she tested the pumps. There were four regular gas pumps, and four diesel. Obviously, her car needed regular gas. She tested one. No luck. Two, a tiny burst came out, and that was it. It wasn't anything she could've used, anyway. Three was just as dead as the first pump. And four was the same.

"Shit!" Jennifer exclaimed in despair. "This was my chance to get gas. What the hell am I going to do now? I don't have anything to siphon gas with. What the hell do I do now? Do any of you have anything I can use to siphon some of the nearby cars with? Is there anything any of you guys have to help? Anything whatsoever," Jennifer questioned.

Dustin, seeing the girl was no longer a threat, lowered his rifle and slowly stood. If she was already unarmed and guarded there was no point holding her at gunpoint. He then realized that his main objective has failed. There was no fuel here for him, at least at the gas station. He heard a noticeable change in volume of the horde below him and ran to that side of the building. The large group of infected had taken notice to the yelling and had begun wandering toward the source. Dustin decided that he had to do something and even though the girls couldn't see him, he yelled to them as he took aim at one of the undead with his rifle.

"Get away from the gas station!"

With this, he fired a single shot and downed an infected. He ran back to the side that the others were on.

"Run, now!"

"And what if they aren't huh?" Tori asked "What if they aren't in a group and everyone here is completely on their own? what then?" she asked and put her hands on her hips and shook her head. Was this guy for real "And nobody knows someone until they try to get to know them, you haven't even put any effort in, I mean i appreciate the help with getting me and the other guy up here so obviously you aren't all bad" she pointed out. Tori wasn't about to let this drop of she was honest. Her hands moved from her hips to cross over her chest and her eyes narrowed in determination.

A bitter laugh escaped Tori's lips and she shook her head in disbelief at this guy. "yeah if you stay you might die, if you go out there you might too hell of you go anywhere the chances of being dead are pretty high. Like you said this is how life is now. But if you stay if we ALL stay i think might actually have some kind of chance, with numbers at least we have more safety..more skills. MORE chance" she said firmly "And quite frankly you seem like you might actually know what you are doing and how to stay alive so walking away you might as well be one of those people that kill people in their sleep, because you would be practically singing these kid's death warrants". Her tone was matter of factly. "but hey man i'm not your moral compass do what you want but just cause the word is filled with undead doesn't mean we should all stop acting human yeah?" With a shrug of her shoulders she turned her back and was about to head over to the others to find out more about them when she heard the noise increasing below and the yell from the other building. Looking down she saw the hoard below getting louder. "CRAP! wee need to get those people off the ground!" she shouted at who ever would listen.

Skylynn smiled sadly and relaxed against Tiffany as she massaged her back. "I'm sorry." She said in response to the women's comment about her losin her husband as well.

She sighed softly and closed her eyes. "God. I don't know if I can take much more of this." She said, referring to the contractions.

Austin crossed his arms over his chest as the woman spoke, attempting to stop him from leaving. Scowling as she turned away after she'd said her peace, what did she know. Making the choice to live the way he does hadn't been easy for him, what had struck a cord and had the gears in his head turning was that she'd said that by leaving them he was one of those same people that would slit their throats in their sleep. That bothered him, in a way he considered himself almost neutral with the events of the world now by just moving on and ignoring them. But here was this woman branding him as one of the very same assholes that he couldn't stand, the very same type of being that forced him onto this path.

So as he slowly climbed down onto an overturned bin he was giving thought on the What If scenario's when the yelling started followed by a shot, all surprising him and causing him to almost slip and bust his ass on the ground below. The man was really not used to being around people and all the noise. Austin knew the two young women we're still in front of the station and by the sound of it they we're about to be in trouble.

He'd passed on cries for help before, so why in the hell was this annoying woman's words nagging at the back of his mind. Looking up he could see what the holla-baloo was about, the group of walkers from before now moving towards the front of the gas station from the building next door. A few had even spotted his movement getting down as they moved his way. "Screw it." He grunted as Austin pulled himself around the corner, running alongside the gas station until he spotted the two by the pumps and the small horde heading their way. "If that car of yours has any gas left I suggest you get in and use it now! If not then move your asses!" The gas station would be a bust with some of those zeds wandering behind it, they couldn't go back that way. It seemed likely that they'd have to take shelter in one of the nearby buildings, and none of those had been cleared.

Jennifer heard a sudden shout from what sounded like the man who held her at gunpoint earlier, followed by a gun shot. Confused, she ran and got her rifle.

"What the hell's going on," she shouted, only to not be heard by the rooftop crowd, already preoccupied by something.

"Aiden, get over here, and if you have a gun, get ready," she shouted to her.

Jennifer got her rifle, took out two mags from her backpack, and shoved them into pockets. She peered towards the gas building, pointing her rifle to the side, only to see the guy who didn't want to be with them, running towards us.

Crono said:

"It needs to be hot wired. There isn't enough time, so we have to go to plan B," Jennifer yelled as he ran towards her, taking out some undead behind him. "I hope you've got a plan," started Jennifer, to the man, still running at her and Aiden, "because there are a couple of buildings ahead of us. Other than that, I hope you've got a shitload of stamina, because we'll be running the New York, Boston, and Chicago marathons combined if those buildings aren't an option!"

@Crono, @Mica, @hitman654, @Lola Shimmer, @Achilles676

It was moments like these where Aidan wondered if she would have made her life slightly easier if she had been more enthusiastic about the lessons given to her by her stepfather. Regardless, she filled her semi-automatic shotgun with two more shells. 6 shots was nearly never enough when it came down to a large fight but she suspected that once they got close she would be forced to use her axe again. She looked to the distant buildings. If they wanted to make a break for it then they would have to go now. She wasn't a fast runner, the more time they had to cross the better their chances were.

"We'll just have to try those buildings," Aidan placed a hand on Jennifer's shoulder urging her to get moving, "Come on."

While Jennifer had cleared a zombie on Austin's tail, Aidan double checked that their path ahead was clear. Hopefully nothing came out of the buildings while they crossed but as she began gathering momentum, she knew they probably wouldn't be all that lucky due to all the noise they were creating. The others on the roof would hopefully head to them later. It was probably a safer place at the moment.

@Jennifer Shotain @Crono @Lola Shimmer @Achilles676 @hitman654

Oh good. Austin thought at hearing the first girl say it needed to be hot-wired. "Plan?" He called out ahead, "The plan is to run, hide, climb. To survive. That's always the plan!" There we're many reasons he wasn't a fan of the girl popping shots off. One, she could ht him. Two, it was more noise. And finally Three, they'd likely need the ammo later. "One of the buildings will work!" He shouted, keeping an eye over his shoulder at the zeds chasing them now with gun in hand. Stamina and running was mentioned, sure his stamina was fine. Though his knee on the other hand, that had the potential to be a problem if the old injury decided to flare up.

Austin scanned the buildings they we're heading towards as they ran, one in particular was either an office building or apartments, either way it was three stories and had the potential to be the perfect escape or only have a few of the undead inside. It also had the potential to be infested and the moment they enter they could be pinned. "Try the three story first, beak a damn window if the door doesn't work!" It was clear they'd likely make it there before him if only by a second or two.

@Mica @Jennifer Shotain

"Goodbye. Bye. Boom. Sorry. Bang." She said with each shot fired at infected, each doing a killing blow, she was killing them out of cold blooded rage. The last of her family (gang member) was killed by them. Her pistol gleamed in the light and she rounded a corner, to a house.

That was t strange. What was strange was that there were people inside. Alive people. She reloaded her pistol and leaned up against the house to try and listen in. Curious.

Mica said:

"Shit," Jennifer exclaimed. Shortly thereafter, the man called out.

Crono said:
"One of the buildings will work!"
"Okay, let's go," she shouted.

Jennifer ran alongside Aidan. Running as fast as her legs could carry her, she ran towards the buildings.

"Which one, damn it?!" Jennifer asked Aidan.

Crono said:
"Try the three story first, beak a damn window if the door doesn't work!"
"Got it!"

The two ran to the building. Jennifer tried the door, and surprisingly, it was open, which also meant there was a possibility some undead were roaming around in it. Jennifer ran inside, and headed to the stairs. Several undead lingered inside on the first floor. Jennifer quickly shot them all, each falling to the ground with a satisfying "thud". Jennifer knew that if there were some on that level, there were bound to be a couple on other levels. She kept herself as alert to potential threats as possible

"We've got to keep going up, come on," she shouted towards Aidan and the man. "Be ready for any inside on the upper levels," she warned Aidan and the man, "the first floor's clear!'

When Skylynn relaxed against her, Tiffany shifted around a bit so that her belly wouldn't end up being a pillow or headrest. "Gentle, gentle." She said as she continued massaging the other woman's back. When Skylynn commented on the contractions, Tiffany frowned. "You're doing great. Now let's see how much you've dilated." She got up and came around and took a peek under the dress to see how much Skylynn had dilated. "Okay, should be another hour or two. How far apart are your contractions?" She asked, grabbing the Phone with the Med Book so she can figure out what to do and see how many centimeters Skylynn has dilated.

tumblr_ljg4nmpe4u1qzspi9.jpg
She watched them from a distance, the five scrambling to get in a building. She had to run to follow them, but not because she was curious but because she had to escape the large mob of infected. But she had a gun ready in case she had to shot down one of them.

It was easy enough to see the building that Austin referred to but she didn't really like it. Office buildings and apartments both previously contained large concentrations of people inside. She didn't like the likelihood that some people remained, only as walking corpses. As soon as they entered the her concerns were confirmed.

Aidan flinched at the sound of Jennifer's gunfire. Hopefully they would find someplace where they could set up some sort of barricade so that the walkers they attracted wouldn't be able to continue upward. She did her best to speed up and keep up by Jennifer but she was reminded that speed wasn't her strong suit. From the corner of her eye, she could see two zombies gathering interest in them. Aidan was easily able to hit the closer one with enough accuracy to kill it. Her second shot mangled the face of the farther zombie but did little other than slow it down. It rushed at them, causing her to shoot once more. Three more shots left.

"How many do you think are outside trying to follow?" She called down to Austin even though she was pretty sure she didn't want to find out.
