Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

TIME SKIP

Miyuki sits quietly on a branch in a tree, seeing the snow come down, covering the ground like a blanket. The group, after the hospital raid, they stayed at the camp to help heal Holliday and Tori, or at least the best they could. The weather was getting colder as the months pass and they managed to stick together. Though part of the reason was because we needed everyone's help to take care of Holliday and Tori. They stayed at that camp for a few weeks when one day, they found the found a small cottage when looking around for something to kill for dinner one night. Good thing they did that day as the snow started to fall that night and that the cottage had some warm blankets and a fire place. Miyuki sighs as she looks down at the snow and sighs. The cold didn't bother her that much, or at least it did but she kept quiet about it as the others needed the blankets more. She still felt guilty about Jen, Holliday, and Tori; how almost died because she couldn't do anything. "If I was only able to help Jen...." Miyuki tries her best to help, like hunting, scouting, cooking, and she has been reading those books the grabbed, learning more about medicine to help Austin and, hopefully, the group in the future. For now, Miyuki is sitting up in the tree, keeping watch of the place.

The air was cold. It bit at the flesh as if it too craved human flesh. Snow fell, lightly unlike the flurries that had passed many weeks prior. The earth was blanketed in a good 2 feet of white, sometimes even three. Holliday couldn’t help but grin the first time he’d seen it. Hell really could freeze over.

He took a knee on a ledge, staring off into the valley below where the small Pennsylvanian city lied. It was hard with the obstruction of snow, but he was able to get a good sense of the layout. It wasn’t his first time there, but it takes a time or two to get familiar with a place.

Holliday shivered slightly and pulled his new coat tightly to him. He’d made sure to get fresh clothes on his first supply run as his old ones where shot up and bloodied, some of which was his own and some of which belonged to others. The new coat was a duster like before, but was a slightly darker shade of brown and made of a better material.

He let out a deep breath; it made a white puff of smoke. The he quickly had to rub his hands together. He always had to make sure that he was continually getting blood to him, otherwise they’d freeze up and slow down.

“We didn’t have this back in the desert,” he said so those behind him could hear. “Nope, the only seasons we had were windy, hot, and hotter than hell. I kind of miss it.”

The he worked himself up to a standing position. It hurt just a bit; some things still had a bit more healing to do. He couldn’t afford to worry about that however. The group had saved his sorry life, and he needed to stop slowing them down. He needed to hold up more than his fair share.

So there he was, back in action, leading a supply run. All things considered it should be relatively simple. They had scoped out a place on a prior trip, which looked promising. They just had to get in and get out. Take only the necessities and know dilly-dallying. Pretty routine, to say the least.

The snow and cold had worked magic on the damn zeds, they now couldn’t move as easily. They were practically frozen. It would be hard for one to stalk you without it being notice. The only real danger was stepping on one concealed in the snow, but even then no one had even come close to getting hurt.

Holliday smiled, happy to be back at it. He swiftly turned and made a B-line for his truck. “Jen. Jorik. You guys ready to go?” A few moments later they were in the vehicle, heading straight for town with the radio going.

Tammy always heard what was meant to happen will happen, everything else is just details rushing by. She most certainly felt that way when only 7 months ago, the world came to what was called an end Only it wasn't really an end. Corpses would after death get back up and start walking once again. There was nothing that would stop them. Not law enforcement, not the military. Something so simple transformed into a huge problem, epidemics erupted through out the whole united states and most likely the world. The wealthy went into hiding, the poor and homeless murdered by the walking dead bodies that begun to litter streets of countless cities. People tried to evacuate, leaving their homes, leaving their cities they resided inside of. Then.... it all fell silent. The world was filled with chaos and the human population was seemingly wiped out.

Or was it?

Tammy Northland was a college student. Doing what ever it took to get by. She partied all night if she wasn't studying and worked out all day and went to school. She was a hard head, overconfident much to say the least, but Tammy saw herself as passionate. She went to a local school in Ohio where she went to get a major in inventing and drafting/blueprinting. She was proficient at what she loved. As brash and impulsive as Tammy was she was always focused and happy to be inside the gym, working out, relieving stress, becoming better.

Tammy was alive during the Great Plague, she was to scared to play it risky and leave her home. Rather she horded herself into her apartment, eating drinking, and sleeping anytime she had the opportunity, she eventually was forced to leave her home in attempt to keep herself alive and get more food and water, holding out for three months inside an apartment could definitely play tricks on your mind.

a month passed before Tammy founded a small pocket of people, all different in many many ways.

We had a young buck named Holliday, a 17 year old western styled gunslinger

They had Miyuki, She was another young yet feisty woman who preferred to fight with bow and arrow,

Jennifer, a hunter capable of killing and tracking game and enemies as well.

Tiffany, a soon to be mother,

Austin was best known as a conscious for a lot of them, preferring to watch over the group she found and protect them.

One-Eye, as the group called him, lived a short time with them but hopefully is still alive somewhere.

Tori, she was passionate, but she most definitely did not perfectly adjust to the New World like many others.

Skylynn, A mother as well and a talented Doctor.

And of course they had Nikole, a very young girl who happen to have a unique fighting style with knives instead of guns or swords.

This group accomplished so much together including saving a friend, keeping each other alive, and mending the terrible wounds the group received from attackers. Although leaving Holliday and Tori fatally wounded, they hoped to keep them alive somehow.

Tammy Northland always would say, "if I were meant to die it would have already happened." As she began to live in the New World.

ONE MONTH LATER

It has been 31 days since Holliday and Tori were wounded from the men and women at the hospital, although they were still alive everyday was a battle to keep their wounds clean, their gauze fresh, and their vitals in tact. The group covered lot of ground and Tammy at the time was out getting some work done for the group and as well as herself.

Tammy walked through the town as she found on the map. The group had traveled alot during these times but still not very far from the horde that infested the hospital they narrowly escaped from. Winter set in quickly, Tammy felt her new fresh snow boots crunch through the snow. She glanced down each street of the town and she walked through it. The winter in this state set in so fast it was like a storm that moved in overnight releasing rainfall on her hometown on the coast. Tammy scanned for her target. Not having luck just yet. Tammy stood medium height for her age, she had on a tight snow jacket which was a deep crimson blue in color. Her leggings were no longer leggings anymore as she also had on a set of snow pants in the color white. She wore sunglasses she stole to help with the glare. They did not look good on her but it was better than the snow projecting a nasty glare and potentially impairing her vision and missing a corpser. Since the plague she notice a lot of corpsers have been vacant compared to during the warmer months. She assumed it was a result from the cold weather, they might freeze or get wet and have their movement impaired, or even as a result to frostbite. She was not sure but did not care it saved her time and a headache to deal with alot of them.

Tammy beared a backpack with a set of sheathes hanging from it, 3 to be exact, 2 of the sheathes contained black bladed machetes, both in which she had found just a few short weeks ago in the hospital. The other was a sheathe on her waistline containing the 3rd, this machete was silver in color, but in return had a para cord and composite wrapped handle, the handle was easier to hold while she had her winter gloves on and easier to create a swift swing she found in the cabin they took refuge inside of.

Tammy found the target, it was a sporting goods store, maybe just maybe. She scoped out the area first only to find a stumper crawling through the snow, She drew the machete and severed the brain stem rendering it as another lifeless body once again ready to rot in the spring time.

She yanked open a window that hesitated but finally slid open and threw the pack inside. She searched the store for the undead which to her surprise, she found none. after time searching she came across her target, fishing gear, bait, and tackle. She grinned, 'perfect' she said stuffing a few of the items into her backpack as well as only the collapsible fishing poles and 3 sets of reels, along with extra fishing line. Tammy knew these would come in handy, She snagged a handful of water only meals as well, they appeared to consist of mainly spaghetti and meatballs, mac and cheese, and ravioli but they will do. upon leaving Tammy noticed a shelf emptied of most its contents except....Tammy approached it, still in the box it was labelled Gerber, It was another machete. She grinned and fiddled with the packaging before finally opening it up and collecting the blade and sheath. "4." she said.

Tammy arrived back at the cabin after the hour walk and made her way toward the basement of the cabin which was mainly used as a woodwork and project room equipped with dowel drills and grinders and hand sanders as well as electric. Tammy scattered the aluminum piping she stole from a hardware store and piled it onto the table. Tammy fetched her backpack from the cabin and rummaged for the sketch book she kept inside and brought it into the basement. The sketching looked crude but good enough to understand how it would work.

Tammy got to work, she grinded by hand an saw and hand and sandpaper pieces of tubing of proper length. then using her electric drill doweled out 10 holes and slid the piping into place, each step required hours of planning as she had no room for mistakes due to lack of supplies, she had one shot per move just like a pro chess game. Tammy then plotted how to secure everything. her mind zipped around the schematics and popped up the idea of cotter pins and screws. It certainly wouldn't be as strong or nice as a weld but she knew what was needed to make it work.

The day ended and turned into the night her mind scanned the plans as they cultivated to life. Tammy destroyed the handles to create the right shape, she hammered in what needed to be properly place and secured it with screws to prevent movement. she tested the durability to make sure everything could hold up to the over parr standards. She never built anything so different, usually small scale projects were not so bad but a full scale piece would be new to her. But prior training allowed her to have the ability to create what was needed for herself and hopefully others if need be. She felt the weight shift from hand to hand, the cold aluminum as her hands natural heat warmed them up. She Glanced down the length to see how straight everything was. Finally she cotter pinned the final pieces in to prevent the most movement and scrapped the leftovers. She checked her small digital watch she managed to discover in a drawer in the cabin hallway. 11pm. She spent 7 hours to craft something she hoped would be perfect she layed out the blueprints and matched it to the scale.

20160505_180232%202.jpg

all the parts seemed to check out as she also had the proper placement of the blades. The inspiration arose from her in the hospital, She was fighting the girl who left a still healing gash in her arm named Rachel. Upon killing her she mentioned something.

"you stupid fucking bitch think you can kill me?!"

These words rang inside Tammys head after she ended her life. The idea that someone could have killed her just like that bothered her, she was scared from it and didn't want to have a similar situation with a worse fate happen. Next time she would be the one saying that. Tammy recalled the time she watched the woman skylynn die right in front of her eyes. She could remember seeing her body collapse and her last breathe as it happened. Tammy was Going to become a survivor, a warrior of the New World.

She glanced at the weapon called The Hydra, a greek mythological beast that when dismembered it would grow not one, but two heads back ready to fight. This beast was ready to do just that. Tammy was ready to not just survive, she was ready to thrive, create, and rebuild.

PRESENT DAY, THE NEW WORLD

Tammy recently watched Holliday, Jennifer and Jorik leave toward town on a scavenging mission. Tammy had her own things to worry about.

The morning started early for her she had woken up around 6am, the snow was starting to melt erlier in the day signalling winter is almost over, The mornings came earlier and the nights came much faster. She wore her coat and hopped into the vehicle. Tammy turned the keys to the Polaris Rzr and turned the keys to the vehicle. The small toy seemed like a play toy, which of course it was. But something additional to this vehicle that set it apart was the fact it was fully cabbed. The vehicle had windows, roll cage, doors. only thing it lacked was a heater. But Tammy needed to cross the mountain and there were only hiking trails to do that meaning even a 4wd jeep was to wide for the trailhead.

Tammy gunned down the street in 4wd she hit the corner hard causing her to slide around the snow piled up on the road from lack of maintenance. As loud as it was she moved so quick toward the trail entrance that even the undead couldn't attempt to follow her. Tammy Flew through the trees on pursuit to her target. She checked her cheap digital watch. the weather was 23 degrees, she could see her breathe, it was also 6:30am by now from the trip so the weather made sense. She stopped the vehicle with a haul flinging snow all over. and got out drawing the Hydra. She paced up 10 feet on the trail head which was surrounded by trees and hills to steep in this sort of weather to chance driving through, especially in snow which blinded the true ground. who knew how deep it would be if she even tried it.

The trail was halted buy a a fallen tree. This would have taken hours to move alone, and let alone go around it. This was the only trail to round the mountain and at a 3 hour trip taking a detour would kill her by then. The Hydra was limp in her hand, she held the staff as the pair of heads breathed their cool steel tips into the fresh powder on the surface of the month compacted snow. The upper heads soared behind Tammys head keeping watch behind her like an extra set of eyes. She glanced for another way, anything, something that wouldn't require double backing. She pondered and searched the area. She was stumped. The catch with this trail is because its so narrow going around wasn't really an option in the snow. But Tammy had one idea. Driving over it. She didn't want to risk getting stuck but maybe if she was able to get the Rzr to clear the tree she wouldn't have to worry about going around. Tammy put down her weapon and found rocked beneath the snow off the sides of the trails and used them as a form of stairs for the tire tracks of the rig to get extra clearance on. After about 25 minutes she was able to finally make it over.

Tammy continued on the trail head at a steady pace, The snow made everything a little more tough as she had less control but the big knobs in the almost paddle style tires allowed her to control the rig with reasonable accommodation. Tammy rounded the last corner to the end of the trail with no sight of undead, which probably wouldn't be able to make it on a trail so severe anyway. She blew through a snow covered parking lot and made her way onto the main road flinging snow and mud all over with the change of pavement. Tammy gripped the Hydra as the town came into view. The people here called the small settlement Axehead Gulch. Only they knew this name. The way the town was set up was it was surrounded by small mountains only accessible through a main highway which they told was completely blocked off by a pile up of scrapped cars and semis. They had other ways in and out but during the winter these place were impossible. The only way in was by foot, or Tammys case by UTV. 5 Snowmobiles made their way toward the beginning of the settlement. and Tammy slowed the rig. She got out unarmed and the men and women unmounted their vehicle.

"I have items of interest!" Tammys voice deeper than usual and vocally clear. Her hands in the air. She was alone and surrounded, they could easily take her out right now but they can't...

They were armed but not with much, 3 of the 5 men were only armed with melee style weapons, the other two only had pistols and by the looks of it they did not appear to trained or even in shape physically. "who are you?" the man in the middle with the pistol called out.

Tammy smirked and replied, "I have heard axehead has many hidden gulches." the words flowed off of her mouth. Tammy lowered her hands and placed them slowly onto her side.

Hive cocked a smiled back. "Be careful of the one to the north." He smiled and approached Tammy as the others abandonned their guard.

Although Tammy met this group recently she knew they all meant no harm. They were all simple people with simple and similar interest, surviving.

"Hive its been what a couple weeks?" Tammy shot at the man. She went in for a firm handshake. something you didnt do often in the New World.

Hive returned the shake. "Mate its good to see your skin lass." Hive was australian, he stood a whopping 4 foot 11 and had a v shaped build. even through the clothes Tammy could tell he was in charge of the area for a reason. Even his voice struck fear in people. But not Tammy. She smiled bigger this time.

"Well best we get out of the cold." He mentioned.

Tammy boarded the rig and moved thought the horse style gates fully wrapped in steel barbwire and aluminum spikes.

Tammy grabbed a seat and took off her snow boots and blue jacket. She sat down as Hive offered her a hot drink. Tammy of course took it.

"staying out of trouble mate?" Hive said.

Tammy nodded, fuck yea." she was in a black undershirt with no sleeves, he glanced at her scar leftover on the right arm. "when did this happen?" he asked brashley.

Tammy spat back almost spilling the tea. "Don't you think its rude to ask questions like that to a lady?"

Hive stood up. "its just a question jesus."

Tammy stood up almost spilling the tea. "This is a bad place to be getting in my face about my life." Tammy hissed. they stood eye to eye....

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Fucking good one mate!!" Hive wailed out laughing.

Tammy had a loud laugh almost loud to echo off of Hives laugh. They had both grabbed a seat after and Tammy opened her backpack. "your tea taste like shit by the way." Tammy pulled out a plastic bag and unzipped it.

He shot back. "anything free in this world is something you should appreciate for."

Tammy layed out the plans on the table. "now to business my people need antibiotics, canned food, a water filtration machine, system, or unit, a generator and gasoline. I'm here to wage prints to creating solar from local supplies and panels, reusable arrows, which you may need, and prints for more booby traps for the undead. On the table lied the three prints all for sale. Of course these would change the way they survive, The booby trap even Tammy couldn't come up with alone. She just drew it and used Jennifers hunting skills to craft a prototype. The average person could not possibly know how to use solar panels and link the to a generator unless given directions the way Tammy depicted hers. " I cannot get you the supplies but I certainly can get you the plans to create." Tammy sat back as he scanned the overall quality of the drawing made on blue printed paper.

"How do I know I can trust you."

"you cant." Tammy stated bluntly.

he stroked his invisible chin hairs and scuffed his messy hair which was recently covered by a beanie.

He thought for a few minutes as they both sipped tea. He observed the plans. Of course these were not the real ones, they were fakes but he did not get to know that until the deal was made, then Tammy would give him the real ones. The other reason is in case she is ever ambushed they wouldn't know what are real or not. She left out major structural features that if he tried to steal them would deem the final products unusable.

He opened his mouth after a while. "25 gallons of fuel, 1 week worth of food, and one generator. We can call it a deal."

"1 week of food for all of my people?"

"for you only."

"one week for me then and throw in another 25 gallons."

"no" he spat.

"yes or ill keep my energy plans and you can use gas for your other generators until you power out."

He maintained eye contact, so did she. the room stayed silent for what felt like an hour.

"13 gallons, I will meet you in the middle and give you the half gallon for free."

"done." Tammy and Hive stood up and shook hands firmly and confidently, she proceeded to pull out the proper plans and drawing large VOID marks through the fakes.

"Ah you had fakes prepared?" he asked. knowing her thought process.

She nodded. "not for you for other people who dont know their ass from their elbow.

Hive collected the papers and called for Vulcan, He was Axeheads trader, and sent him to load up the gear. But only Hive negotiated with her. They were friends afterall.

After Tammy had help from Vulcan to fill up the bed and cab of the small rzr she tied down all the loose gas that might have fallen. They gave her the canisters in exchange for her old empty ones the group had back at the Safehouse.

Tammy gazed at the people of the town going about their day quietly and swiftly in the white powder. Because it was winter food was very hard to come by as alot of animals were harder to hunt in the weather and traveling was tough. This was where Tammy came in. She knew that her prints would be worth something to Hive, so she created some for their city and leveraged food and water and gas to get it. She leveraged them because with 40 people living inside the old small town that was once a vacation hot spot for many people back before the Plague now was a small settlement for common people to ban together and help each other stay alive. The people all had taken security very seriously using barb wire fencing from the livestock land nearby and the barbwire fencing as well as trees to create fences to deter any undead that made it into the valley. The city had one main road in during the winter making hostiles not prefer to enter from the heavily barricaded area. around the Gulch was nothing but mountains, trees, rocks, boulder, and trails. Any corpser that finally made its way to the gulch still had to overcome a river to the east, where Tammy came from that during winter was pretty much frozen but during spring was a torrent that would sweep away any undead that falls into it.

"pleasure doing business Hive." Tammy said.

"Be safe youngster and don't try anything you'll regret here." He said as a few pieces of silver hair skimmed off the daylight.

Tammy replied, "you don't either jack off." she yelled.

"hey no need to get aggressive." Hive spoke almost sarcastically. "we are out in the middle of no where for a reason, anyone hostile is killed on site and anyone friendly and courteous is welcome to do business with us."

Tammy put the keys in the ignition of the rzr and leaned the Hydra against the door of the passenger side.

"Do NOT give us away Tammy, Axehead has many hidden gulches afterall."

a corpser managed to make its way toward the town from a distance. " Then be careful of the one to the north."

Tammy started up the rig and spun around as she heard a faint pistol shot as the corpser fell as she drove past it.

With winter closing in, Tiffany had finally recovered from the pains of childbirth. Now she was a loving mother of two beautiful babies. One daughter and one son whom she had taken in after his own mother was taken from him. Both babies were now a month old, feeding them was easy. The group she was with, they were pretty much now one big happy family. Instead of camping, they were able to find an abandoned cottage out in the countryside, away from civilization. For the most part, Tiffany was the Caregiver, Nurse and a Stay-At Home Mom, rarely leaving because she had two children to raise. Technically three since Nikole was still a Teenager. While Miyuki was already an adult, Tiffany still mothered her.

On the snowy day, Tiffany was watching over both Josh and Giselle, both of whom were napping. They were both also fed, so Tiffany was just resting on the couch, thankful for some peace and quiet. These two babies did not cry very much. Whenever they were awake, they'd be smiling as long as they got to see her or when she was around. Keeping a blanket on, she yawned. The weather was dreadful, but at least the undead had trouble traveling in the snow and don't usually survive long. Finally, keeping the babies' cribs close, Tiffany decided to take a nap herself.

Three months have passed since the events at the hospital had gone down. Three long, hard, cold months. The group had decided to all stay together. After what happened in the hospital attack, we are group. We fought side by side, suffered pain, and had injuries inflicted upon them all as a group. Holiday made a recovery. It took awhile, but he eventually healed and got better. It seemed like Holiday wouldn't make it at one point, but he did. He's one tough bastard. Tori, who was also injured in the attack, eventually healed as well. Tiffany had given birth to her new child right before they had got back to the camp after the hospital attack. It was rather strange to see another child in this world. I feel pity for them. I would never say it to Tiffany or the others, but having a child now seems like no more than a death sentence for them. They'll never know what the world was like before the dead started to walk again. Austin had stayed with them. I had a feeling he would stay, even before the attack. Nikole had managed to stay, as well. What surprised me more is that her dog was alive. I never would have imagined a dog surviving. Miyuki had managed to make it, as well. Her and Nikole were both so young. Sure, I'm not much older. But they're young. Then there was Tammy. What a tough bastard she is. I didn't initially like her at first. She came off as impulsive and didn't seem to nice or capable. I was wrong. That girl had done a lot of shit in that hospital attack to earn my trust. She promised me she'd get me my medicine she lost. That damn girl did it. And I like her a lot now. She still is rash, but she certainly has grown on me. I respect that girl now. She's a hardened survivor. And a damn good one, as well. You wouldn't think she was, but she was smart and skilled. She has become a valuable asset to our group. Then there was Jorik. He joined the group recently. I haven't had much time with him, but he seems different. But, in an interesting way. I almost feel like he's a viking in the wrong time period. But, I still need to get to know him.

And then there's me. There's not much for me to say about myself. I was weak before that kidnapping. I'm strong now. I'm not a pussy anymore.

Holiday asked me to go on a scavenging mission with him. I had nothing better to do. I needed some supplies, as is, so might as well go out with him and get the stuff I needed. And that brings me to here, in the truck with him and Jorik.

Jennifer sat there in silence as they drove in the truck. She didn't have anything to say. She barely did anymore. She wasn't talkative and lively. Morality is all but gone in her head. Whereas she once tried to find the good in people, and seek the moral way of handling things, she now was a dark and tormented soul. The more and more she reflected on what happened after the hospital, the more she became a shadow of who she once was. She didn't care who lived or who died. The only people she did care about that for were the people in her group. Otherwise, she didn't care. People who weren't in her group were people that could be a threat to her. And she didn't like threats. She liked to eliminate potential threats.

Jennifer sat there, dressed in her Active Camo Carhartt jacket, her black beanie, her snow pants and boots. The cold wasn't something she cared about. It didn't bother her. If anything, it made staying away from walkers easier. Normally, they stood out in the cold. They were always slow and sometimes almost frozen. This made getting away from them easier, and made them less of a threat. The only issues were the ones buried under snow. Though she hasn't encountered it, she knows it is bound to happen.

In one hand, Jennifer had a box of .223 ammunition, and the other was a magazine. While Holiday drove, and Jorik came along, she sat in silence, quietly loading two magazines she hadn't earlier. When she was done, she put the remaining box of ammunition in her backpack. She then slid the mags into pockets in her pants. Next, she took her AR-15 and locked the bolt back. She inspected the feed ramp and the chamber, putting her pinky finger in to see how dirty it was. When she took it out, her pinky was black.

"Shit, I've got to clean this. Powder residue and carbon buildup are on the feed ramp and in the chamber, probably the bolt and carrier, too. Hopefully this thing doesn't jam on me if I need it," she said out loud in minor frustration.

"I knew I should have cleaned it a couple days ago. At least I have a backup," Jennifer muttered under her breath, referring to her sidearm on her leg holster.

It was cold the last few weeks of being out alone and with his farm now populated with undead bodies it only seemed to grow colder the longer he was forced to withstand the harsh colds, though, luckily for him he'd just managed to finish his winter outfit made from the fur of several animals that he'd killed and eaten during the nights of the calm before the storm. Yet, with everything that had just gone down, Jórik, managed to find some relief in it by having a sudden but necessary reality check. That reality check? The world had been resolved to absolute shit and there was nothing he or anyone could do. To him, it was indeed an Era of Ragnorok.

When he was found Jórik was half starved due to the lack of nutrition he was able to find under several layers of snow. What he did find was frozen or just straight spoiled. No animals were out to hunt and crops didn't grow much during such harsh conditions so it made finding berries and what not so much harder to find, however, after Holliday found him it was like a prayer answered by the Gods, though, it was at first hard for Jórik to trust Holliday especially since one wrong move and some people would fritz out and become a burden to the lives of many. nevertheless, Jórik didn't expect any less in return for the next few weeks until eventually Holliday's face would be one that would remind him of a good friend. One that saved him from a dark time and took him into a home that he otherwise would of never would have found and would rather be some dead-mans chew toy.

Now, Jórik was sitting in a jeep next to the man who saved his hide a few months back and they were headed on a supply run to make sure they didn't plummet on equipment for each member. Hopping into the jeep's passenger seat he looked to Holliday "Whenever you are ready." reaching around he'd buckle his seat belt and prepare for a car ride which he didn't naturally like due to the fact every time he was in a car he'd always get motion sickness, though, that never seemed to be the case when riding a horse.

Well….sweet fricken lord. That had been the very first three words that entered Tori’s mind when she had first woken after the attack on the hospital. Boooy had she wished it was her last too because the pain that followed made her want to fold herself in two and disappear into the ground somewhere. She didn’t recall much...the hot burning of the knife...the crackling of voices coming from the radio...and then Austin had been there and..she didn’t remember much. It all kind of came in flashes, little snippets like someone was giving her a sneak peak at all the events unfolding but never quite allowing her to see the full screen. She had woke briefly when she was move off the bed again...that had been excruciating, she remembered gasping for air as the tip of the knife that had been teasing her lung had finally took the plunge in. Tori wasn’t in a rush to repeat that day and she had a feeling that nobody else in the group was either.

The first week or so was blurry, She was in and out of consciousness but remembered the first time she picked something about Holiday being injured too. She had started to panic but that welcoming black she had soon got used to had soon dragged her under, It had been magnificent like a sea of numbing gel to keep her oblivious to not only her injuries but the horrors in the world around them too. When she had finally began coming too for longer periods of time it had been very uncomfortable. Not only was she in pain from her injuries but they had traveled also and with that many people along with two very young children in cars it was hardly the dream trip.

Recovery had been hard, Especially as the cold had started to set in. It only made everything more difficult..her movements would get stiffer than they already were and her ribs would ache, Not to mention the knife wound. She had never been more thankful for the people that surrounded her in all her life. Not to mention Grumpy, She owed him. Big time and she had no idea how she would ever repay it because that was two life debts she owed him now, Twice he had hauled her ass outta death's clutches and she was glad he had decided to stick around. She was glad Tammy had stuck around too because they needed all the hands they could get right now and she had noticed a change in the girl...not that she was softer so to speak but kinder maybe? Hmm she had pinpointed it just yet but either way in the oncoming winter she was glad they faced it as a whole and even with new faces in the mix. With lack of mobility she hadn’t had much chance to interact with newbies but now she was getting around allot more..she would make the effort.

Tori hadn’t been idle when she was out of action, in fact far from it. She had learnt allot from their experience in the raid least of all that being prepared was key and she was never going to get caught off guard like that again. She had been naive..she realised that now in thinking that people were going to treat her how she would them. The world was colder now and so she needed to be, though she wouldn’t be unkind. The first thing she had done was put her hands to work, She had borrowed a pistol from the stash Jen had found and while she was laid up she would take it apart and put it back together over and over again. It had been a mess at first of course never having done it in her life and it took her days to put the weapon back together again in any sort of way that made since, She stuck to it though because if she was going to be a burden on the group she would make use of it. Seeking advice from the others when she needed it she carried on in her task. It took about a month of continuous practice for hours on end everyday but she could finally complete the action at a reasonable pace. Tori was far from winning any prizes but she was hell of allot better than she had been. After the building part had been mastered she had practiced aiming, not that she dared shoot to waste bullets or attract attention but simply lining up shots..getting a feel for the weapon and just coming to grips with it. Although she had yet to have to shoot it she now carried it holstered at her hip...if the time came she was pretty sure she could at least use it now. She would be no great shot like Jen and sure as hell no where close to holiday but she would at least be able to hit something.

After the initial recovery stage and she could get up and about on her feet she had gone back to her blades too, She simply preferred knives there was no two ways about it. She felt more comfortable with them and had more skill at it too. Tori had spent weeks practicing lunging..stabbing, swiping anything she could with the blade. She even covered a little throwing but that was still a work in progress. All in all she felt the group had come a great way and they might yet survive this thing, The babies were thriving and the rest of them were keeping their heads above water...Jen had been..different but she was gonna try and work on pulling the girl out of herself again….they all needed healing..not just the ones who had been physically injured. Although Tori’s physical wound had all but healed aside from a thin still tender scar and some aching and bruising..what it had done to her head was still a problem. There was night the woman would wake in a cold terror with sweat trickling down her back, for a moment she would lay there utterly still, barely moving and even scared to blink as she stared back at those dead unmoving eyes of that boy….that child. They would hold her in a vice like grip of sheer fear for a few moments every time she woke until finally they would fade and she would be left sat upright and shivering. When she did sleep the night though it wasn’t much different, that boy’s last moments just replayed like some kind of sick slasher movie on repeat.

As it was Tori didn’t sleep much these days and it showed in the dark rings under the blondes eyes that were a stark contrast to her pale features, It also showed in the copious amount of firewood she would collect when she couldn’t drift of st all and she often volunteered for watch duty. She was stood just a little ways from the cottage facing a familiar tree with a constant ‘thwack’ and ‘woosh’ sound filled the air followed by the crunching of her boots on the snow as she retrieved her knife. She was practicing her throwing again and her aim was getting better, She had hit the same spot three times now and smiled slightly to herself. Tori reached up tightening the scarlet red scarf around her neck that happened to off set her blonde hair rather nicely and match the beanie on her head, She yanked the zipper up on the black duffle coat she wore and stamped her feet to get a little more feeling back in her body. Pulling the knife with a hard yank out of the wood turning it this way and that she inspected it making sure the blade was alright. This was her favorite knife and it just so happened to be the one that had almost killed her, it was sharp, light and easy to use so when it had been pulled from between her ribs..she had kept it. The increase in skills and change of clothes weren’t the only things different in Tori, Her long blonde hair that had hung below her waist before barely grazed her shoulders now, The cut was crude and untidy but it didn’t look too bad besides with shorter hair it was easier to keep clean and manage on a daily basis. The woman eyes the tree up once more with the emerald in her eyes flashing before she sighed and turned on her heels heading back toward the cottage. She figured sh would have a quick check in on everyone.

Holliday looked in the mirror so he could see Jennifer, who was sitting behind him. "WD-40," he said simply, "The stuff works damn good, Ive used it for years. If that don't work I've got some high quality stuff, the kind you couldn't get in stores." He fell silent for a moment, and looked over her more carefully. She wasn't the same as she had been the first time he'd seen her. It was her eyes. They had a look that could pierce right through a man. There was no compassion to be seen. They had the look of someone who could kill. It was a look all too familiar to Holliday.

"Listen, once we're finished Im going to be cleaning and oiling down my pistols. Water and snow just ain't good for metal, even stainless steel. Just drop your rifle off by my room. Ill have it I'm uncultured and span by morning. I don't have to take guard until the afternoon so I can sat up a bit late to do so."

He drove on further, finally reaching the outskirts of town. The main highway was blocked, but he had found a decent side road. They covered several city blocks before he eased to a stop. Holliday killed the radio and twisted the keys to shut the engine off. It only took a second for air to begin to chill with the heater turned off.

Everything was now silent. "Im going to review the plan once more. A mile ahead of us is the Pharmacy. Im going to take the lead, you to follow close behind. The undead shouldn't be a problem with the cold, but Id still prefer to stay silent. Jorik, if any undead cross are path, put an arrow in their heads. If for some reason things get out of hand, we bail and return another day. Worst case I'll hold them back and let you guys go ahead. Our first priority is food, the second is fuel. We'll take any kind we can get, Gasoline, Propane, Charcoal even. Anything to keep us warm. Finally, meds and clothing, though I doubt there will be much of that left. Once we are inside, stick to small arms. Jen, If you think your rifle will give you problems, then just rely on your pistol from the start. Are you guys ready?"

@Jennifer Shotain @Runakei

As Holiday spoke to her, she could see him looking at her through the rear view mirror. She could tell he saw something different in her. The whole group saw it. But it was left alone, and no one bothered her about it. She hadn't done anything immoral or irrational enough yet to constitute a talk about her with the rest. Inside, however, Jennifer didn't care. She liked her change. She saw that it made her stronger. She didn't care about killing people. In fact, she got some sort of sadistic enjoyment out of killing people who she deemed as hostile, which she seemed to have a very loose grasp of the meaning of that word. It seemed to apply to anyone who wasn't in the group. If she had to, for herself or the group, she would kill without hesitation or question. In all of her change, the one thing she maintained was feelings towards her group. She cared about each and every member of it, even if it didn't seem so, and she intended to keep them safe. Though, at times, her feelings and motives towards them could be questionable.

As Holiday responded to her comment about her gun, she rolled her eyes and listened. She knew how to clean an AR. She just didn't have the supplies with her to do it.

"Okay," she reluctantly said back to him as she looked out the window, staring the snowy landscape. She wanted to clean it herself, but she wasn't in the mood for arguing over it right now.

She didn't like to trust her guns with anyone, even someone like Holiday. She liked her guns to be touched only by her. She didn't like someone else taking her weapons. She felt disarmed and vulnerable without them.

As the drove on, silence filled the truck. Holiday finally spoke up, once they seemed to get close. He spoke to Jennifer about not taking her rifle. There wasn't a snowball's chance in hell she was letting go of it. Even though it belonged to a man responsible for the atrocities she had endured, she felt the rifle was a symbol of something. She felt it signified the change in her, and that she was better and was supposed to live, and that he was weak. And as time went on, the rifle itself grew on her. It was low on the recoil impulse and was accurate. Not only that, but since there was a huge market for them before the dead came up from their graves, there was an endless supply of parts, accessories, and ammunition for it.

"Rifle's fine. It'll be fine. And yes, I'm ready" she said with slight irritation in her voice.

Tammy made her way back to the Manor where the group she was with resided. She recently scored a generator, 43 gallons of gas total which if rationed properly would last the group about a month if they drove only Hollidays diesel and Tammys Rzr. The catch with the two rigs were one ran off diesel which no diesel has been siphoned after the plague as most cars and trucks do not run off it. Plus Holliday did a great job rationing his supplies before his injury and managed to teach Tammy and the others of alternative ways to power a diesel. The Rzr....well that got 30 while the jeep Tiffany had only got 14. It was difficult to power so many vehicles so they used what they could. The advantage of the rzr as well was the versatility. The caged toy not only had 4wd, but also had a longtravel suspension meaning if need be Tammy could drive it off the road and still not worry about flipping or getting stuck due to how much the suspension could move under pressure. mud wasn't a problem, snow was easy, water was easy if it wasn't to deep. The Vehicle was plain badass. Tammy ventured passed the mountain where a local on snowmobile helped yank the tree out for her which upon leaving she ended up double backing half way to the entrance of axehead gulch trail head to ask to help move the trunk. Luckily between chain and 2 rigs, they managed to move it along and rolled it aside. Tammy arrived back at the main town on the other side of the mountain face around 2pm She made her way back to the manor which was also a bit away from the beaten path.

They recently got into Pennsylvania. The group dwindled the supplies while they were at the cottage 2 months ago. It surprisingly only took about 2 weeks to make their way to another state even with the gas they rode on. The did have to refill Holidays containers they had all emptied one day but otherwise it turned out pretty smoothly for once. The group made refuge in a manor most likely owned by someone wealthy before the end of the world. They did alot of work while they were their. Including runs for supplies on a daily basis, reinforcing the perimeter, and creating traps to catch fresh meat mainly with the help of Jennifer.

Tammy circled past the small town they still have not scavenged through and turned left onto the road leading into the hills south of where she came. The road led to another road that made its way into the hillside. Finally they came across a large steel gate. This was the entrance to their homestead.

Tammy unlocked the chain with a key they all had access to. The way this property seemed to be set up was there were a few homes scattered miles apart from each other but the fact that they were pretty far away and well separated did not worry the group to much about others. On top of that land was an issue. Since the corpsers did not have boundaries they simply wandered wherever they could or please attracted to sound and each other. Tammy pulled the rzr inside and locked the gate.

The previous owner of the property put serious money into the land, they had the steel and wood ranch style gate out front that used to run off electric power. And for what they knew most the land was caged in by 5 foot corral style fencing. The wood fences were not poorly installed at all, no they had been concreted into the ground and each support post was hammered in rather than a traditional twist install method where as the wood would rot over time cause the fencing to fall. This helped keep undead from trying to wander into their premises and also allowed for "safer" gardening during the warm season, and livestock to be farther away from corpses once they learned how to catch it. Tammy had a book they used for preserving what ever fruit they could find she found months ago in a trailer called ,'The Art of Preserving,"' which taught everyone how to preserve fresh fruit and even pickle vegetables which they had a hard time finding.

ultimately the manor worked great, everyone got their own room except Tiff with the kids, which to be honest Tammy did not care for to much other than getting food with Holliday and Jorik. Otherwise Tammy even had the idea to find out how to make the water run again in the home. she revved into the garage which was left open....stupid her. If someone was scoping out the area they would think this group was a bunch of lazy idiots. None the less she forgot...typical Tammy. she shut the engine and began to unload the gasoline moving it down to the storage side of the garage. It had a door with a lock but no one could find the key so for now it was just hidden in the corner of the property where the rzr and jeep were stowed away. The next step was the food Tammy Hoisted a wheel barrow and threw the weeks worth of food inside the tub and pushed it to the houses entrance which was boarded up on the basement floor with steel and wood. The third floor had the most open window and the main lobby floor had a few that still might need work.

"Miyuki! She called knowing she had to be in the area nearby. Even in the winter this fucking chick was in trees watching over the place. "stop playing ninja and help me out real quick!" Tammy called disgruntled at Miyuki.

@KathleneWilliams2121

Miyuki sits in the tree, silent as she made arrow heads for her arrows. She was running low again and she needed to make some more, only problem was she didn't have any feathers which would mess with the balance of the arrow. She then hears her name and looks down, seeing Tammy calling up to her. She roll her eyes as she called her a ninja, "So I climb trees. It helps give a better view of the area. Besides, everyone else is resting; I'm the only one out here." She puts her crafts away and shivers a little she looks over to Tammy, breathing hot air into her bare hands. "What you need help with, also what you get?" She asks as she looks over and sees what Tammy got. She doesn't know how she does it, but somehow she manages to find everything she wanted to find when she went out.

Tammy regained her train of thought which seemed to take more than just a "split second" she opened her mouth after reremembering

"I found some supplies on the trail and got some gas for the vehicles. hopefully its enough but I dont think it will lst us much more than 3 days between us all." She referred to the barrow filled with food. Apart from what they had which she did not recall how much, food was very vital...especially with ho much she ate. Tammy alone could feed an extra person the way she ate. She never kept track of the food rations and to be honest it was always on her mind.

They started working on the food moving it into the home of the manor of the kitchen that was very very large and beautiful. It had granite countertops, 2 ovens...which needed propane or eletric to work Tammy was not sure which yet. She had access to a huge sink which also did not work so they just kept a gallon of melted snow water handy for washing up what they could use. The stove however was gas and the propane was still working which meant they could at least cook meat and fresh catches. apart from that the kitchen combined with the living room with a tv that of course needed...you guessed it, electricity. But the coucehs were incredible as well as the paintings that lined the manor. The living room had a perfect hot cozy fireplace which on a cold day like this was roaring with heat and comfort. The warmth made Tammy want to lay down and relax. But she still had much to do.

"we should be able to collect the rest in one more walk." Tammy spoke short and sweet.

@KathleneWilliams2121 (gnight ill be on tomorrow morning)

By the time Tori had made it back to the manor her cheeks were a light pick with the cold that had been biting at them and she was more than happy when she stepped up toward the side entrance, she stomped the snow off her boots that had gathered in her walk before she proceeded inside. It was kinda strange it was like thy all took extra care of the place, Probably because it had been so long since any of them had something to call home never mind a place this grand. She pulled the beanie off her head when the heat from the fire hit her and she smiled slightly, It was nice to be welcomed in with heat it even made her face sting at the sudden change. Shrugging out of her coat she laid it over a side table ready to take up to her room later, her room heh it still felt weird to think that. Placing her hand lightly on her side as she walked she winced...she may have over done it a bit with the throwing..but eh the pain would subside she would bare with it for now.

Starting to near the kitchen she heard the voices before she seen the girl inside and she smirked popping her head in "Morning" she called cheerfully and glanced at the supplies that had been lugged in. Seriously she was beginning to wonder how Tammy was pulling this off and she was ore than alittle worried too...she was hoping the girl hadn't got herself into something over her head..because it wasn't worth it. "Hey sweet..you have been to visit the supplies fairy again?" Tori asked curious and she began to look the stuff over. To be honest they had been going through supplies perhaps quicker than they could help and it had got her thinking...infact she had even been coming up with a plan on a way to ration it out but she was deciding on a way to bring it up to the group. It was great they were getting all this stuff but they shouldn't take it for granted..at least she didn't think so they should stretch it as far as they comfortably could. "I was thinking i would have a look at the electrics today, i mean i am not promising anything but now that i am on my feet and stuff i may as well be useful...i am no electrician but if i can build and wore a computer it is worth a shot, i can see if any of the wires are live and would work?" She suggested and leaned on a nearby bench, Her side was really starting to bother her now with a continuous throbbing. As she leaned on the bench she began to wonder where the mains box might be and if they had any sorta tools.. "You guys want a hand?"

@KathleneWilliams2121 @tammynorthland

The girl looked st the two, and decided to try to speak to them.. Try. She pushed herself off the floor. She was thinner than the first time they met her, but it wasn't too Jurassic. She had bandages wrapped around her diets and arms, where she had been scratching at her arms, tearing the skin. She cleared her throat lightly as a small yet shaky voice showed itself. " Hi guys.." She smiled, still leaning on the wall. Nikole was still a teenager, only sixteen. She was wearing a reddish brown jumper that was much too big for her body, along with black ripped jeans and some muddy boots. She didn't eat much, or well. The one thing that was the same as last time on her was her piercings. They didn't change, she liked them, she always played with them. She brought her hand to her mouth and began to bite her nails, even some of the flesh on her fingers. She still was a pretty good doctor, she was just a little fucked in the head.

@Lola Shimmer @tammynorthland @KathleneWilliams2121

Tammy shot a glance at Tori and Nikole. Nikole was not mentally stable to say the least,Tammy pbserved her medical knowledge over the past 3 months and although between her and Austin they were able to maintain life support on Holiday and Tori, she never seemed like she healed herself properly. SHe always was off and Tammy tried to avoid to much contact when she could. She felt it could end up poisoning her in the end. "I got it Tori." Tammy chimed with sours notes but not on purpose just in her voice. Tammy learned alot the past few months in the New World. Main thing was her skills at creating things she never thought could be done. When Tammy birthed the Hydra she felt a similar way Tiffany must have felt from giving birth to the child she had. Ironically Hydra was an inanimate object but she put her heart and soul into creating it and used weeks of thinking to properly create Hydra. Tammy noted Nikoles 'hello' but did not build conversation off it. "we have work to do guys. I need 2 sets of hands but if 3 want to help that will be fine." Tammy stated. Her mind turned like a robots cogs shifted through its steel body. Tammy was in no way a leader, commander, or even captain. No, Tammy learned how to do other things that would be best to transfer knowledge to the others

Tammy learned how to protect.

Not just herself but others as well. She had to bear alot of weight to protect the injured and less expierienced when caring for Tori and Holliday. Miyuki, whom she wouldnt forget that punch she recieved, had to work with Tam most of the way. She hated it, but because of it they both did what they had to do and survived the mess they were put in.

"We need to cut wood, secure the perimeter of corpsers, and remove kill from traps. Jenn wont be back for a while with Longshot."

@KathleneWilliams2121 @Dibbydoo @Lola Shimmer

Miyuki looks over at Nikole and frowns. She had notice her mental health going down hill and was worried for her. She then sees Tori come into the kitchen with her and Tammy and asking if they need help only to have Tammy to answer saying she had it. Then Tammy told them what to do which made Miyuki to roll her eyes. "I will take care of the traps and the wood. After that I will come back and relief the person on watch." Miyuki tries to do everything as she just wanted the group to be inside. Safe from harm. Miyuki finishes her load and starts to get ready to take care of what needed to be done, "If anyone wants to come with, you can." She says as she walks out the kitchen and back outside into the cold. She wraps her jacket closer, to keep herself warm. She got one of the thinner jackets and gave her heavy one to Tiffany so she could keep herself and the babies warm. She pulls out her arrow and bow as she starts over to the first trap and finds nothing. "Great, well let's go to the next one."

She nervously fiddled. She felt like she should of had done that. So right after Miyuki had left, she followed after, going to the living room as they called it and tossing herself on a couch. She feel this over Whe,ING burning feeling on her face. She touched her face and realised she was stifling her sobs, crying. She curled up even more, embarrassed even more. She shook, and tried to make herself stop, but she just couldn't .

Austin groaned lightly as he awoke to the cold building, his entire body hidden under the blankets. There was a reason behind his late awakening, that being that he had a cold. Yes you heard it right, the mighty Austin defeated and manhandled by a mere common cold. It was winter now and Austin wasn't a fan, there was a reason he was headed west, towards California to begin with and that was so he'd be in a warm place when winter finally hit.

(Optional fun song that sorta goes along with Austin's mindset/struggle during the skip and even now.)

Now? Now he was being dragged about without a say, tethered to a group of misfits who wanted to head East. East of all directions, he was backtracking at this point. But majority rules and all that crap. Speaking of which, he did end up staying with the group rather than leaving like planned. It was excuse after excuse as to why he stayed, eventually ending with the final one which was that he'd hang around until Holliday and Tori were fixed up months ago. Eventually he'd given in, become attached to these people...to not just surviving but living.

He'd quarantined himself from the others for the most part, especially the babies, so that none of the others got sick because of him. Otherwise he felt fine, well except for those first few moments when waking up. But hopefully the small group out on a run to the Pharmacy would came back with something that would help it along. The man's frame stepped into the doorway with a cover wrapped around him, nose gently red from the morning drainage, and also keeping his distance.

Austin had heard the conversation from the Kitchen as he was coming downstairs, that the others were still on the run, and things needed to get done around here. He'd watched Nikole and Miyuki leave the room and let out a sneeze into the blanket as a sort of greeting to Tammy and Tori. "That girls going to run herself ragged trying to do everything." He said regarding Miyuki, "I've got the wood covered, I don't mind chopping some. Besides, I'm starting to get cabin fever." Considering the day before he'd practically just stayed up in his room the whole day, not that he'd really wanted to.

Tori listened to Tammy as she talked about all the different things that needed to be done and she nodded along..she heard Nikole speak and was about to reply when she followed miyuki out of the room so she just looked back to Tammy hmm well she was glad miyuki volunteered for wood and trap duty because she wouldn't have had a clue on the traps and her side was bothering her to much at the moment to event think of chopping wood "I can do the perimeter" she piped up with a shrug..at least it would be something to keep her occupied. As those thoughts passed her ind she heard a voice behind them and looked over her shoulder "BEWARE THE HUMAN GERM WALKS THE HALLS!" Tori declared grandly as if she was giving off warning about something truly terrible but she just started to laugh at ho miserable Austin looked "You sir..look like shit" she stated cheerfully.

However she hopped off her seat walked over and whether he liked it or not she shoved him into a chair "Sit down you walking disease, You are no good to anyone if you keel over." Heading to the stove she turned on a hob and started to boil some water "Hey tammy you want a warm drink? i am making captain full of germ and myself one then we can all get stuck in?" she asked and glanced up to look over at the girl with a small smile. Searching through the cupboards she fund what she was looking for and claimed three mugs setting them up on the bench and locating the powered tea someone had managed to scavenge. Hmm it was hardly a decent cup of tea but it was better than nothing at all but she started to spoon it out anyways. "Hey Tammy maybe if you aren't busy on my way out to do the perimeter you can help me find the mains?" she suggested

@tammynorthland @Crono

Tammy was already on her way out the door with the pitched idea from Tori. She pulled the Hydra to arms and stepped down the staircase from the second floor, which they were on their house in, and made their way to the snow. It was hotter in the day probably around 30 degrees at this point and alot nicer than early in the morning when she set out on her early venture.

The first trap was empty. No luck in the essence there. Tammy scanned with miyuki as her bow was drawn. "you worry alot." Tammy said calmly and a tad bitter in the subnotes of her voice. The second trap was empty. and the third. and the fourth.

No luck in the food supply. The lake was nearby and there was a chance that would have fish easy to catch. But she was no expert in catching fish so that would not be the best choice of her time. Best have Jenn and Longshot teach her how to do that stuff. She would have better luck.

The perimeter was scanned as well with checking the traps. All seemed to be pretty well with checking the area. It has been almost 5 days without a single roamer. The group suspected it was related to the fact that the cold made most freeze, possibly die? Tammy was no pro on how the corpsers operated. She didn't care. The less, the better.

"The winter months will end soon." Tammy muttered, checking the last sadly empty trap.

@Lola Shimmer @KathleneWilliams2121 @Crono

Miyuki looks over at Tammy, who chose to follow her, "Well it's better to worry rather then being eaten or killed...." She says as she looks over at Tammy. She sighs as she looks at the other traps with Tammy, finding them being empty. Also with the perimeter there were nothing, which was good but she still felt nervous, but not for those walking abominations, but for other groups and raiders. She noticed how Jen has changed, and how long Holliday and Tori took to heal so she was determained to protect them and the rest. She then hears Tammy make a comment about winter ending soon. She shakes her head and smiles to herself. "I guess my birthday already passed." She says as she looks down at the snow. "Funny, turning 18 is suppose to be a big moment, and yet here we are. Trying our hardest to live every day." Miyuki then starts to think about back before this mess happened. When she was just a regular girl looking for colleges she wanted to go into. "Why, why out of everyone I loved, am I still alive?" She shakes her head as she looks up at Tammy, not sure how long she was intranced by the snow on the ground, "Ya, hopfully we will be able to get more food then." She looks over at Tammy and then becomes confused, "Tammy, what is that?" she asks as she points to Tammy's weapon, "Is that a bunch of knifes on a stick?"

Austin let out a somewhat congested scoff at Tori's amused declaration, and shrugged at her following comment. "Funny, I sort of feel like shit too." The woman sought to get him into chair and the main reason he complied was so that she wouldn't get forceful and end up touching him. "It's a cold, not the flu." A couple of sniffles followed as his nose started to tickle, glancing at Tori's direction as she made the drink.

"I'll take a few sips but leave the rest for when I come back in, i'm sure i'll need it." With the cover still wrapped around him he sunk a little more into the seat comfortably, then Tori handed him the cup of tea and he nodded in thanks as he took a few sips. The first few moments were normal, his taste-buds not fully registering the taste. And once they had he could taste the bitterness and scrunched his face only for a moment as he adjusted. "How's Nikole?" He asked the woman, knowing the teenager had been...troubled for a while. Psychiatry wasn't his thing in the least, honestly he hadn't a clue on what would help her.

" Stop it.z" She hissed at herself as she slowly stopped crying. She used her bandages to carefully whipe her tears away. Making it seem like it never happened, she took out her little note book, mgrabbing a pencil and Begining to sketch her problems away. She smiled to herself as she continued, drawing a cat. Well, a cat with a body of a toaster. She chuckled as she stared at it, blinking and grinning. She continued to draw animals combined with random, kind of appliances.

Tori laughed when Austin's face changed from enjoying the tea tooo not so much "Yeah it isn't the creme de la creme as far as tea goes" she stated and took stool herself to sit in. "Do you really think manual labor in the cold is the best idea? if it was one of us you would probably tell us off" the woman pointed out and took a sip of her tea glad of the added warmth. She savored that rather than the taste for a while and simply clutched the mug in her hands, hmm it was weird this was always the first thing her mother had turned to on a cold day or when someone was sick. a good cuppa fixes anything, she could hear her saying it and smiled a little though it turned to a frown...yeah she doubted it fixed apocalypses. Tori shook her shoulders and quickly pushed that to the back of her mind bringing herself back into the room. "I don't think great" she admitted when he asked how nikole was doing..to be honest she hadn't spent allot of time taking to the kid but she had noticed she seemed off lately. "I was gonna talk to her...i dunno if i am best to fit the bill but i'll give it a shot since everyone else is busy with all th physical stuff..." she shrugged and sipped at her tea some more.
