The train slowed as they entered yet another dark section and Minka frowned, having no idea why the train kept doing that. The sounds of brakes could be heard as the train slid past the darkness and onto another train platform. This one was full of both people and creatures that seemed to be waiting for their arrival. A bunch of them wore black over coats, with a weird shiny hat and blue or red disks covering their eyes, and a mask the rest of their face, Minka laughed slightly at their fashion.

It seemed this was their destination, though, as most of the people on the train started slowly piling out onto the deck. Ili let go of them and she followed the group out of the train, taking the time to look at the others who were on the platform. There were kids as well, who stood behind the weirdly dressed people and by their outfits, she guessed were students of this school.

Someone then bumped into her back and she stumbled, something wet splashing her as she turned to who had crashed into her. The girl in the Cabin she had passed stood behind her, fishbowl in hand; it had been water that splashed onto Minka’s back. At her stuttered apology Minka darted her eyes around, almost as if to make sure she was talking to her.

“No worries” she responded afterward, shrugging off that she had gotten wet

Virtus was bumped into by another boy, and raised an eyebrow.

"I dunno... But it's a little annoying." He replied to the boy, also nodding his recognition. "Azure, come forth."

As Virtus spoke, a puff of smoke popped beside his head, and from the smoke came a small, serpentine dragon that rested on his shoulder. "
Yes, master?" The dragon-familiar asked, glancing around as well.

"I need you to fly up and see what's going on, please." Virtus asked of his familiar. The dragon chuckled.

"
Byakko or Suzaku can both fly better than I, but you wouldn't want those two in a crowded area like this." It mused, flying up into the air and getting a bird's eye view of what was going on.

As Azure flew up to see what the commotion was, Virtus turned to the boy.
"I'm Virtus Owryu. Nice to meet you." He said in level tone, extending his hand for a shake.

Trace turned back around to face the boy,who introduced himself as Virtus Owryu. "Trace Legacy. I'm a homunculus,if it matters." He shaken Virtus' hand. "Interesting pet. Never knew snakes could fly. Or talk. Where'd you come from?"

"It doesn't, for the record." Virtus immediately replied to Trace's revelation of his race. "As for my 'pet', it's not a pet, it's a familiar. They're a little cooler than pets." He explained with a touch of sarcasm.

"Master, it appears that the hold up is the fault of the faculty. The opening ceremonies' speech hasn't even begun yet." Azure said for Virtus as he came down and settled on his shoulder again, closing his yellow dragon eyes and making himself comfortable.

"Thank you Azure. Would you like to go back, or stick around?" Virtus asked him, reaching a hand up and petting the dragon.

"I would like to stay here, and watch over you in the middle of this large crowd, master. And, homunculus, I am no snake. I am a dragon." Azure said with a chuckle.

As the person responded, and didn't sound, well, angry, Nellie looked back up at them, blinking a few times. "Y-your not mad?" From inside the bowl, Ross seemed to laugh, it's stingers wiggling around a little more than normal. Fully looking at the girl, she was a bit surprised, and blinking a few more times, pushing her glasses up one handedly she moved a little closer, staring at her face. "Your so pretty....."

Trace smiled and nodded appreciatively. "That would explain a few things. Sorry about that." His gaze lingered on the dragon familiar. It was a thing of beauty, but obviously a predator. Trace redirected his gaze to Virtus. "So,what sort of spells do you do?" He was curious. Magic is varried, after all. He heard storied of the legendary Steven Adams, who fought with only illusion and telekenesis.

Virtus raised an eyebrow.

"It's called Theurgy. Invoking and summoning of spirits, and familiars. My familiars are like a family to me." He explained. "It has a bad reputation, as in addition to spirits, you can invoke and summon demons. And, demons seem to be just as adept at it as humans. Those little, weaker demons directly serving a stronger one? Theurgy." He continued, as Azure nodded in accordance. "I am of demon and human blood, so it's quite natural to me."

Glancing down at Trace's hands, Virtus smirked. "It's not quite as exciting as a legendary hero's powers over the elements, or mastery of indirect combat methods, but I find it quite amazing. Now, if I could ask you the same question, my curiosity would be satisfied for now." He asked with a smile.

Trace smiled. I like this guy. "I can do a few things. Magic discharge, memory manipulation,and...Timestreaming." He shuddered at the last item on the list. He was still shaken by that last vision. "Magic discharge is just opening a pressure valve on a tank, and venting it. And with memories,I can delete them or lengthen them. Timestreaming is looking into the past,or seeing a possibility of the future." After a pause,he shrugged. "I don't exactly have a handle on controling my magic, yet."

The girl look astounded by her response, and Minka frowned, wondering if the meaning of her statement had changed in the past years. The girl with the fish erased her worries though, when she questioned her not being mad. Minka looked surprised,

“Was I supposed to be?” A hint of worry actually lining her voice.

The anemone in the tank seemed to respond wiggling around a bit, Minka turned her attention back to the girl, to find she had made her closer. Blushing under the scrutiny, her face went red after the girl’s compliment, which she had just caught. Her eyes darted towards the ground, and her fists clenched lightly,

“…T-T-Thank You” she noted, still looking away

Virtus nodded. "The concepts seem simple yet complex at the same time. It's almost a wonder you have any grasp at all, especially with Timestreaming." He mulled over the ideas out loud.

"..... Wanna skip this opening speech and go claim ourselves a room? If we have to have a roommate, I'd like someone who isn't an idiot." Virtus asked with a smile, after a momentary pause. Azure chuckled again.

"Then you'll need a room without a mirror, master." He said with a wry voice, and what could go for a smile, if dragons expressed emotions with their faces.

Trace quirked an eyebrow at the suggestion, then chuckled at Azure's response. "Why not? I'm sure we won't miss anything too important." He looked around, looking for a gap in the sea of people. "Any ideas on getting out unnoticed?"

"Who cares if we're unnoticed? It's not like any security will stop us from leaving." Virtus smirked, and began pushing through the crowd. Azure sighed.

"I was about to take my leave, but it looks like I need to stay a touch longer to keep you from endangering yourself, or your new friend." Azure let out with a touch of exasperation.

".... Who asked what you were about to do anyways?" Virtus asked rolling his eyes, continuing to push through the tightly packed crowd.

Trace shrugged, and followed closely behind Virtus. "So,what do you hope to learn here, anyways? Control? Power? New spells? Something else?" Trace looked around, and noticed a pair of blue lenses turn in their direction. Trace quickly grabbed Virtus by the shoulders, and forced him into a crouch, with a hissed "Get down!"

Virtus was about to answer the question Trace had posed when he was pushing down into a crouch. With a yelp of surprise, and a sharp noise from Azure, Virtus covered his own mouth, and dismissed his dragon-familiar.

"What the hell?" He asked, in a hushed voice, glacing around.

"I...I just thought, 'cause I got you wet and all..." Nellie responded, backing off a little as the girl seemed to turn red. Quirking her head a little, she frowned. "How'd you do that?" Pointing with one hand at her own cheeks, then at the girl's, "How'd you make 'em turn a different colour?"

From the staff member there was a loud sound of her clearing her throat

"Alright children, calm down and listen to me..."

after everyone quietened the staff member removed the black hood covering her face, to reveal she wasn't human

"Everybody.... i am Meranda Kathra, co-ordinator of student affairs here at highland accademy, now i know you are all eager to get started, or to at least see where you will all be staying but dont worry, we;ll come to that soon"

she looked over them all and let out a great big smile

"while here you will be learning more than just spells, you will also be learning skills like maths, science, other languages and more alongside magic, now, if you''ll please follow me, i will show you all to the courtyard"

the teacher turned around and began walking, she had her hands linked behind her back and her tail was swaying from side to side.

James went with the crowd, looking around at the place, it was a beautiful combination of magic and science, everything magical had a technological edge, and everything technological had some magic in it, it was amazing.

while walking, James tuned to the one next to him, who was Nellie

"hey, what do you think of all this? its impressive,

Trace replied in a hushed voice, "Security was about to see us. I don't feel like getting caught. Keep going." After a moment,he reiterated his question. "So,what do you expect to learn here, anyway?"

As the crowd started moving, Nellie just went along with it, trying to be careful not to spill anymore water that was greatly needed in the bowl, that was by this point, fairly low. Hearing a voice, her eyes flicked over to a boy, and instantly she recognized him as the boy who had challenged the ogre. Narrowing her eyes a little, knowing he was no good, she pretended like she didn't even realize he had spoken to her.

James looked confised for a second, before remembering what he said to the ogre, he looked down and kept walking.

soon they reached the top of the stairs and Miss Kathra turned around again

"alright children calm down, calm down, thios is the courtyard, as you can see there is the "shining well" in fact, this well is a venting area for the "magic core" deep below the school, a mere one millonth of it's waste is deposited here since its such a small vent, but its completely safe, and in fact it helps repair the atmosphere after years of polution"

James looked down, ashamed of what humans had done to this world, the ogre from before grunted "yet another reason to wipe these vermin out" James clenched his fist upon hearing this, but he didnt say anything, even when a multiitude of other demons agreed with him.

Miss Kathra's eyes narrowed

"as a member of staff i will not hear of such threats Mister Knucklebocker, saying you dont like humans is one thing, but desiring to kill is a whole 'nother level"

the ogre grunted, before leaning over to talk to another demon, picking his targets on who to beat up first.

Virtus began crawling along, getting weird looks and such.

"Aren't you precautions..." He whispered, nodding to himself. "I'm just here because there's nothing better to do, and it wouldn't hurt to get stronger."

Glancing around, Virtus spotted a break in the crowd, leading to a door, which was slightly ajar. "I think I just found our way out!"

As the demon spoke up again, Nellie's eye twitched, before she caught the boy getting angry, though he stayed in check. Looking at the woman, then back at him, she coughed into her hand, casting an offside comment loud enough for the ogre to hear, "Your no worse than they are speaking like that." Gullivan looked up at her and shook himself, causing her to frown.

the ogre turned his head while miss Kathra continued, going on about the design of the school

"pah, human-lover you're soft, like those succubi and incubi, humans dont deserve to lean magic, they're only good for their women, and even they arent good for much"

James tilted his head, looking back

"and you see what caused my outburst earlier"

the ogre shot James a look of rage "speak when spoken to, vermin"

Miss Kathra stopped

"Okay, after my orientation you're coming to my office mr Knucklebocker!"

the ogre grumbled as miss kathra continued

Gullivan looked up at Nellie, and Ross hissed something about behaving. Giving James a small wink, she tilted the bowl just a tiny bit, water hitting the ground. Dipping her foot in it, she focused, and the water moved towards the ogre, where it promptly wrapped up his leg, seemingly multiplying before freezing in place. "The main point, Mr.Knucklebocker, isn't whether one is soft or not. It's knowing when to shut up." She spoke in the same tone as before, before setting her shoulders back and looking quite content witherself, meanwhile, Ross wriggling in rage.

Trace saw what Virtus mentioned. "Make a break for it. Stay low." Without waiting for Virtus to confirm,Trace lunged towards the door, travelling at a stooped run, leading with a shoulder, his bag tucked under his other arm. He made it to the door, and waited for Virtus to catch up.

Virtus stood up, and walked at a normal pace towards the door. Reaching it, he grinned.

".... Why? I made it like this, didn't I?" He said to Trace, patting him on the shoulder.
