Eddie nodded some "Yeah Richie doesn't have a fucking off button." He muttered shaking his head a bit "Listen I gotta go down and handle this. I want you to stay locked here for now." He murmured before getting up and kissing her lovingly.

Max nodded some and kissed him gently "Yeah I can do that." She murmured before getting up to leave. She came back smiling some with juice "I got juice and jello for you."

She frowned and shook her head, grabbing at his arm. “Please don’t.” She told him quickly. “I don’t wanna be on my own right now.” She mumbled.

Aaron nodded and thanked her quietly, managing to eat it on his own just about and finishing the juice just before his nurse came in and was telling him to get up and get moving.

Eddie frowned deeply but nodded when he saw the look in her eyes "Okay, he can wait." He murmured before pulling her close to him again "I love you Carmen, I'm so sorry I let this happen. I should have stayed here."

Max helped him up when it was time for him to move. She gave a small wolf whistle and laughed lightly as his dress fell open exposing his ass "Ooo babe lookin good!" She teased before she helped tie it back up.

He just gave her his best attempt at an annoyed look with how little energy he had, just ending up looking a little pathetic while he slowly wandered around the room.

She shook her head and frowned. “It wasn’t your fault. And it wasn’t Gareth’s either. Don’t be mad at him. It just happened but I don’t understand how they got through all the security measures we have” she frowned

Max gave him a quick kiss before helping him walk around the room a bit "Hows the pain?" She asked softly as she got him sat down.

Eddie shook his head and sighed heavily "Thats why we got Richie, to find out what exactly happened." He muttered quietly before kissing the top of her head repeatedly "What do you want for dinner?"

She went to get changed, wanting the dirty clothes off of her, heading towards their en-suite with a towel. “Greek.” She told him, “and Ed? Please don’t disappear while I’m in the shower.”

He frowned and shook his head. “Not good. Feels like… I’ve been… hit with…. A sledgehammer.” He grunted.

Eddie made an X over his heart as a promise to her before he went to sit on the bed making a call to Gareth and discuss with him on what they need to do with Richie for the time being.

Max nodded softly and helped him get back in his bed "Alright then, no more moving for the time being." She murmured

He frowned, groaning in pain as he moved again, watching her a little. “I can’t keep my eyes open anymore.” He groaned quietly, starting to fall asleep without much else warning.

She took as much time as she could before moving out to the bedroom and slipped into his lap while he was sat sprawled on the bed, curling into him and feeling the rumble in his chest as he talked on the phone

Max nodded softly and gave a small sigh as he fell asleep pushing some of his curls from his face. She pulled her phone out soon after to send Eddie a text and let him know that Aaron was seeming to be doing better for now.

Eddie wrapped an arm instinctively around her when she curled up beside him. He finished up his call shortly after and let out a huff of annoyance from the call. He glanced down at Carmen and smiled some "You feel a bit better after your shower?"

She nodded and smiled a little. “I love you. I just…. It felt too easy.” She told him. “It doesn’t feel like I should be safe.” She mumbled, tracing a few scars he had picked up over the years.

He woke up again the following morning feeling sore but clearer, watching max a little until she woke up, reaching for her a litte.

Eddie ran his fingers gently through her hair and nodded some "You are safe and I'm going to make sure this never happens again." He said quietly before he sighed "You're not going to sleep tonight are you?"

Max woke up early that next morning and gave a soft smile seeing Aaron up to "Hey handsome; you look so much better." She said softly as she took his hand in hers.

She flinched as he got to the large bump on the side where they had bashed her to knock her out. “Probably not. But I don’t usually sleep good anyway.” She pointed out.

He smiled tiredly and nodded. “Getting there. Might see if I can go home today… I think we should start working on a family again once we’re settled in Chicago.” He told her quietly.

Eddie stopped touching her head once he saw her wince nodding softly "Alright, well you got me here all night and most of tomorrow." He said softly before kissing her forehead gently starting to drift off afterwards.

Max looked at him a bit surprised but smiled some "Oh yeah? Well you know I won't say no to it." She murmured before kissing him gently "Yiu just gotta promise you'll stay safe." She said softly

He smiled a little and nodded. “Sounds like a plan…. You uh… can you call Jack and ask him to bring me some clothes?” He asked her. “I’m not going home in scrubs.” He muttered, playing with her fingers. “Don’t… I can go home. I’ll be fine. I’ll take it easy.” He promised.

She smiled a little and had him shimmy down so he was in a better position to go to sleep then left him to it for a bit, heading downstairs and going to get some food, smiling a little at Gareth. “Is he being held here?” She asked.

Max gave him a worried look before nodding some "Alright...I'll give him a call." She murmured before pulling out her phone making the call quickly for him.

Gareth looked over at Carmen as she came into the kitchen "No, we took him to a secure location elsewhere. Eddie is going to handle it tomorrow." He explained before looking at the floor "Listen, I'm sorry my decision put you in danger. I should have checked the inside first."

She shook her head and smiled. “Gareth if I thought you should have been inside I would have said.” She told him. “I’m alright. A little bruised and my pride is wounded but I’m fine.” She promised him.

“I just don’t wanna be here. I feel so exposed.” He muttered.

Gareth gave a small nod and smiled a bit at her "Eddie is a lucky guy to have you. Let me know if you need anything okay?" He murmured before giving her a quick hug and leaving to stand guard outside with the others.

Max gave a small nod "I know love, I'll go talk to the nurses okay?" She murmured before getting up to talk with them

She smiled and nodded, heading upstairs once she had eaten and going to lay down with Ed, resting her head against his shoulder and trying to get some rest.

He thanked her quietly, sending Eddie a text to say he was going home hopefully by the end of the day and he would call him tomorrow.

It was another month before they were officially moved into a home in Chicago. Max was excited to finally be back home and relieved that Aaron was mostly healed. His ribs were still healing, but he was good enough to work. She was unpacking a box of dishes when she felt his arms snake around her "You happy with the place?" She asked softly as she leaned against him.

Eddie sat in his study that morning going over everything he would need to do today with Aaron. He smiled some when he saw Carmen in his doorway "Hey beautiful, how are you?" He asked softly to her. Since the incident he had been a bit more protective of her and always trying to make sure she was doing alright. He had also notlet Richie go this entire time either, finding it quite amusing to have him captive.

She smiled and stepped in, setting some juice down on his desk and removing the coffee. “No more caffeine til lunch.” She told him. “You’ve emptied a whole pot of coffee.” She smiled. “I’m just gonna be here, getting a few bits of work done for my father.” She told him. “A few emails for the legitimate side of things.” She assured him. “Be good. Play nice with Aaron. Listen. He’s here to help.” She promised.

He nodded and kissed her head, pulling away to put his shirt on. “It’s good for having to find it in a month. Once we’re settled with things though we can start looking for something nicer. I know we don’t want massive space but something fancier.” He smiled. “If you need anything, Eddie has assured me that his place is always available. I’ll call you when I can alright? And babe? … please don’t bring Richie here. I know he’s your brother but I don’t trust him to not steal from us.”

Eddie gave a small chuckle and saluted her "Mmm alright babe." He murmured before kissing her cheek and letting her go. He went on to finish up his paperwork before he heard the door go "Babe! I'm headed out, call if you need anything okay?!" He called to her before he left with Aaron telling the guards out front to make sure to check on Carmen repeatedly.

Max frowned deeply as he mentioned her brother and sighed "He wouldn't but alright I won't bring him here. I'm going to see him at the restaurant today though, I haven't talked to him since before your accident." She said softly.

Aaron sighed and left her to it, waiting outside eddies place once he got there until he came out. “Were we going?” He asked him, getting in the car with him and leaning back.

Carmen sighed a little as she was interrupted for the hundredth time by one of Ed’s security, just trying to get some work done in peace

Eddie smirked some as he got into the car with Aaron "I got some business to attend to with one of the men that tried to kidnap Carmen. I think we're close to making him give up who set everything up." He explained

Jeremy gave a heavy sigh seeing the look on Carmen'a face as he checked on her again "Sorry...I'm just following Ed's orders." He said quietly before leaving the room and checking the rest of the house.

She rolled her eyes a little and called him, setting her phone on speaker and waiting til he answered, hearing Aaron in the background. “Hey. You need to tell the boys to back off a little. I know you’re worried I get that but they’ve been coming in here every five to ten minutes and if it continues I’m going to rip someone a new one. And you better hope it’s not you.” She told him, fuming.

Aaron smirked to himself a little as he listened to Carmen , reminding himself to get max some flowers or chocolates or something to remind hee he appreciated her until the call ended and he finally chuckled. “I don’t think I ever expected you to find someone who could keep you in check.” He told him. “She almost does a better job than me.”

Eddie chuckled some at Aaron before shooting his men a text "I love her man, think I'm gonna ask her to marry me." He said with a smile right as they pulled up to the warehouse they were keeping Richie in "Come on, lets get this over with."

Max made her way into The Beef smiling widely seeing how the new renovations were going "Carmy?!" She called laughing softly seeing her old friend's head pop up from behind the little window that led into the kitchen "Hey! Have you seen my brother? I wanted to come see him."
