Realistic or Modern Writing our Sins one at a time

He shook his head and frowned "He's not an idiot!" He snapped at her a little "Eddie is more than capable of doing his job. But he's always so focused on other people he forgets to look after himself." He muttered. He didn't shout at her really ever. They had arguments sure but Aaron got snippy not loud. The only time he would ever get like that outside of work was when it came to Eddie. Even if they had their disagreements they would always be like brothers and he always worried about him.

She raised an eyebrow before getting what he was implying, quickly sliding in the back, glad for the tinted windows all round that she usually gave him crap for. She was sure that if he never got puled up on any of his proper criminal behaviour then it was going to be the illegally tinted windows that sent him to prison.

Max jumped slightly at his sudden outburst but quickly composed herself "I never said he was, nor was I insinuating it. I'm sorry if it came off that way." She explained calmly before she went back to eating quietly

Eddie chuckled and quickly followed her inside. He panted softly after they had finished up he held her hips to him as she leaned over the center console to get napkins to clean them both up. He chuckled softly as she hard a bit of a hard time "You could always just wear it, take a shower when we get home. You're on the pill." He murmured as he peppered kissed all over her bare chest.

She smiked a little and shook her head. “I’m sure your car guy has seen his fair share of messes but I’m not taking this car to be washed and looking him in the eye if we leave this mess in here.” She smiked, handing him the napkins and shifted awkwardly to get dressed, finally getting into the front seat once they were sorted, quietly content on the way home.

He shook his head and sighed alittke. “No sorry I just… things have become much more complicated than I thought they were. I knew shit was happening in Chicago. But this goes beyond even Jackson’s influence. This is coming from people at the very top.” He muttered

Eddie chuckled and let her clean them up before he started their drive back home. As they got there he let her go off to put the presents away while he went to make them both something to drink and looked over the take out menus for dinner.

Max gave a small frown and nodded some as she sipped her wine "Hopefully nothing becomes too complicated." She murmured softly to him before giving his hand a squeeze

She headed downstairs in some comfier clothes, slipping her arms around him from behind, “Alyssa has brought your suit back from the dry cleaners. For Kelly’s birthday.” She reminded him. Hee friends had been far from supportive of her relationship with Eddie. They knew what he did and they had told her countless times how worried they were about her getting in trouble because of him. It just made her want to show him off more to them.

He shrugged a little and sighed. “When has that ever worked out for us? You wanna watch a movie tonight?” He asked her, not wanting to think about work anymore. “I’ve been thinking yknow. About what you said about trying again…. If you think you can handle the stress then I’m all for it. But if I see this making you unwell again I’m pulling the plug you understand?” He told her.

Eddie groaned some and gave a nod "They going to behave this time? Because I can get real mean too." He murmured as he pulled her into him. He hated her friends for how they treated him and the fact every time she saw them they tried to convince her to leave him. "How does Thai sound for dinner?" He asked gently

Max looked at him and gave a bright smile nodding some "Okay, I promise I won't let it hurt me like it did last time." She said before squeezimg his hand some "What movie would you like to watch?"

She smiled and shook her head. “They never will. But it’s not like I listen is it? I barely listen to you.” She pointed out, pecking his cheek and going to get a coke. “Ew. If you want Thai you’re on your own. I might just make myself something.”

He nodded and smiled. “Mmm you wanna finish that one we started that I fell asleep during?” He asked her, stretching out a little and eyeing her up and down a little.

Eddie pouted some and followed her "Okay fine, what would you like then?" He asked as they got into the kitchen "So when it the actual date of the party again?"

Max nodded giving a soft smile "Yeah that sounds great." She said before finishing up her food and grabbing his plate as he finished up as well.

She smiled and shook her head. “Eddie I’m a big girl I can make my own dinner.” She told him, “and you know the drill. I’m not telling you. I’ve told Gareth and he’s keeping your schedule clear for me.” She reminded him seeing as the last few times she had told him he had mysteriously had last minute work to get done.

He headed out to the lounge to get everything set up, waiting patiently til she was out there with him and threw a blanket over her. “You cosy enough?” He teased as he took in the fluffy socks and sweatpants and his hoodie plus the blanket.

Eddie pouted some but gave a small nod "Fine fine, don't tell me." He murmured getting himself a drink "I'll be up in the study okay? Come get me for anything, I'm just sorting papers for tomorrow." He murmured giving her a quick kiss before disappearing upstairs.

Max came back down after getting comfy and nodded as she cuddled up next to him "Mmhmm sure am." She murmured before kissing under his chin "I love you."

She gave him a salute and got on with making herself some dinner, feeling like they were finally back on the right track again.

He smiled and gave her a squeeze, pressing play and trying to stay awake for the rest of the movie this time around

Eddie came down about an hour later grabbing his food as the delivery driver came by. He came back down and smiled seeing her curled up on the couch watching her show "So I was thinking....for Christmas, instead of a bhnch of gifts, I get a few but take you to go fill up your library again?"

Max laughed lightly as she looked over once the movie was done to find him asleep. She gently shook him awak and kissed him under his chin "Hey sleepyhead, movie is over."

She smiled and reached for him to come closer. “I have so many books to get through love. Plus I’m running out of room.” She smiled, “You already spoil me enough as it is.” She pointed out, shaking her head.

He groaned a little but nodded and held onto her. “Was definitely just resting my eyes.” He smiled a little, getting the house locked up and headed up to bed with her exhausted.

Eddie gave a small pout as he sat beside her and pulled her in close "But I live to spoil you." He said before kissing all over her face for a minute "Fine, I'll just get you a bunch to open on Christmas then."

Max gave a small laugh "Uh huh sure." She murmured before heading up to bed with him "I love you." She murmured as she curled up close to him

She smiled and shook her head. “I’m not complaining about it Ed.” She told him, “go eat your dinner while I finish my show. You should get an early night tonight.” She smiled, patting the couch to get the dogs to come sit with her.

He hummed in response as he drifted right back to sleep once he was in bed, thinking over the plan for the next few jobs

-3 weeks-

Max stood in the kitchen staring at the kitchen counter zoned out by this point. She was stressed beyond belief, Aaron's past few jobs had been hectic, but this last one had taken the cake. He was supposed to have been home two days ago, yet she still had no updates from him. He always updated her, even if it was a text of just a thumbs up emoji, always. It was starting to scare her even more that the people he was supposed to be with weren't answering anything either.

Eddie sat in his study with Rick shaking his head as he looked over their latest shipments "We need to cut this shit with the middle man, its causing too many vulnerable points." He explained as he showed him the issues they'd been having "Plus the Port Commisioner is asking for a bigger cut, he needs to be humbled."

Rick nodded as he listened. “Send a couple of your guys down there to remind them who pays his kids college fund.” He muttered. “I’ve got a meeting with Jackson tomorrow about cutting some people out already. Good work Ed. Catch you next week for the start of our handover stuff.” He told him, heading out and nodding to Carmen as she was waiting outside the study. “He’s all yours.” He smiled, leaving out the front door with the two guys he’d brought with him.

Aaron had been making sure every single loose end was tied up before he even thought about going home, ensuring nothing ever got back to max but he had finally finished the job and was driving back, parking down the street and limping back home. He eventually stumbled through the front door, almost collapsing in the hallway but called for max as he hauled himself to the lounge

Eddie gave a nod and looked at Carmen as she came in "Hey beautiful everything alright?" He asked as he reached for her to come sit on his lap.

Max heard the door quickly grabbing a knife just im case but soon dropped it when she heard his voice. She rushed into the lounge and gasped seeing the state of him "Oh thank god you're alive." She said as she rushed to his side "What do you need me to get you?"

He frowned and pulled his hand away from his side carefully. “Just about.” He mumbled, revealing the dark red patch around a rip in his shirt and his hand was covered in blood “It’s not that bad but it needs stitches…. Bad information. The whole thing was a set up.” He muttered, shaking a little now he was home and the adrenaline was wearing down.

She nodded and smiled, slipping her arms around his neck. “I need you to be ready for seven.” She told him, kissing his cheek. “It’s tonight. We don’t have to be there too long but we have to show face.” She told him

Max went wide eyed and quickly got the first aid kit "Fucking hell, okay come here." She murmured getting a towel set under him before she removed his shirt and started to clean the wound. After about 45 minutes of silence and cleaning she finally spoke "I was scared that I lost you."

Eddie groaned a bit "Oh alright, will you pull my hair back for me? Make it all nice?" He asked softly always loving it when she did his hair. He kissed her temple gently and gave her thigh a squeeze "Love you beautiful."

He didn’t say a word besides swearing under his breath while she was stitching him up and eventually lay back panting a little and watching her, swallowing thickly to try and stop from breaking down. “I’m sorry… I couldn’t call. I smashed my phone… on purpose. I thought… I thought they were gonna take it and I didn’t want them getting to you. I’m done. I’m done with these shit outlier jobs. I want back in the big game. This is too dangerous now. I can’t… I can’t risk you.”

“I’m not gonna promise cause I need to get ready to but maybe.” She told him, kissing his cheek again and got up to go get a drink and start sorting herself out. “Be ready for seven.”

Max nodded softly and moved to kiss him gently letting a few tears fall "You're home, we're both safe. I love you." She whispered prrssing her forehead gently to his "We'll get ourselves up there, I love you." She said quietly cupping his face gently just needing to ground herself in knowing he was there now.

Eddie chuckled softly letting her go off to get ready before he finished up in there. By seven he was ready and spritzing Carmen's favorite cologne on before going downstairs. He let out a slow wolf whistle seeing her at the door "Stunning!"

She smiled and glanced up the stairs, “oh you look great, come on, we’re running a little late now.” She told him, always a little stressed when it came to leaving on time.

Aaron frowned and just sat there shaking still, holding her close until his stomach growled. “You wanna order pizza?” He asked her quietly.

Eddie opened the door for her once he made it to the foot of the stairs "Its okay babe, I'm sure we'll be right on time. You know how those things usually start later than planned." He said trying to ease her stress a bit.

Max nodded some "Yeah I'll get it ordered." She murmured before pulling out her phone to start the order "Your normal?" She murmured as she curled into his good side.

He nodded slowly and frowned, closing his eyes, finally noticing how much pain he was in now that his adrenaline had stopped rushing, resting his head against the back of the couch and trying to get some rest.

She sighed but nodded and followed him out to the car, getting in and watching him. “You know my father tried to give me chauffeurs all through my teenage years but I just never felt safe with them driving. But I always do with you. Even when you’re being a little erratic.” She smiked.
