She nodded and smiled some. “Yeah. Was super excited to give them to you… I’ll call him a little later okay?” She murmured, watching him do a few checks

“Right. Let’s see if we can get you up and walking. I’ll be right back. We’re gonna get you in for physio to recover your strength. There’s a fair bit of muscle wastage and you’re going to have to get used to have a lot less lung capacity.” He explained and went to get a Walker for him to use.

He frowned and nodded just holding onto her. “You ever want kids?” He asked her quietly. “I’d like kids. Maybe two or three.” He mumbled.

Joseph frowned deeply when he listened to the doctor. He looked at the walker shaking his head some "Fuck no, I'm not using that thing." He spat taking a deep breath watchint her some "I want Sofia, I want to see my daughter." He said panting a bit as he started to get worked up.

Max smiled some and nodded "Yes, I'd love to have children. Two or Three for sure." She said softly

She frowned and shook her head. “Joseph stop. Baby stop. They’re trying to help you get up and moving after being comatose for 8 weeks.” She pointed out. “And I will call Henry right after you do this okay? Please? It’s alright.” She coaxed gently.

He smiled and kissed her neck. “Mmm three would just depend on how much of a nightmare two are.” He chuckled quietly, rubbing her hips and looking more like her Jon.

Joseph frowned more but gave a nod slowly getting up with her help "I...shit I'm sorry I left you." He said quietly kissing her gently before he stood up to get the walker

Max smiled softly and gave a laugh "Mmm yeah thats true." She murmured running her fingers gently through his hair "You better stop with the neck kisses mister unless you're taking me to bed. Its been two years and pent up is not even the right word to describe me."

She frowned and shook her head, helping him up. “You’re doing really good.” She coaxed him and helped him go in a little circle before getting back in bed and looking worn out. “Well done. I’m gonna go call about our munchkin okay?” She murmured, stepping out and just hoping Henry agreed.

He smiled some and grabbed her thighs, lifting her up as he stood. “Your wish is my command.” He murmured taking her up to bed.

Joseph panted softly as they got back to the bed giving a small nod when shesaid she would call Henry. He frowned softly when he saw her come in "Whats wrong?" He asked seeing the upset look on her face

Max panted softly as they finished and kissed him gently "God I have missed you." She murmured between kisses

She frowned and shook her head. “Henry filed for custody the day you got shot. He wouldn’t give me leeway on anything and I haven’t seen her since that day.” She told him breaking down from finally saying it all out loud. “We had a court date last month but… you were having seizure after seizure that morning and a couple of times you almost flatline and I wasn’t going to leave you then… henrh refused to reschedule and he got awarded full custody…. Used evidence to say we aren’t safe for her to be around…. Sometimes I get to talk to her. But I want to see my baby. And all she says is she wants to come home.” She whimpered

He chuckled quietly and pulled her in a little closer, kissing her head. “Mmm I’m proud of you for not going and finding a side piece… two years is a long time.” He chuckled.

Joseph took a shaky breath before reaching for her "Come here..." he murmured not going to let out the anger he was feeling right now. He couldn't imagine what she had been through these past 8 months.

Max traced small patterns on his chest laughing softly "Please, no one could compare to you. Plus they have adult stores for those reasons."

She went to lay with him and held onto him right as she could without hurting him. “I just wanted you safe.” She whimpered. “And I just want my baby to come home.” She sobbed holding onto him.

He chuckled quietly and rolled onto his back, reaching over to the nightstand for his cigarettes and lighting one. “Do I get to play too?” He grinned at her.

Joseph nodded and hugged her tightly "I know...I know. We will get her back." He said quietly to her.

Max smirked some and moved to lay on her side "Mmmm maybe." She said giggling

She frowned and just nodded, slowly calming down when her phone rang and she pulled it up, “Henry?! Put my daughter on the pho- Sofía? Oh baby hey hey I got a surprise for you.” She coaxed and passed the phone to Joseph.

He smiled and reached over, twirling her hair around his fingers. “I will stay here tonight.” He promised.

Joseph smiled some when he heard her name. He took the phone and cleared his throat some "Hello? Is this Sofia? Greatest daughter ever?" He questioned happily smiling wider when he heard how happy she was on the other side. He talked with her for as long as he could before his voice started to go hoarse "Okay Sofia....I'm gonna..give the phone to your mom now."

Max nodded softly giving a smile "Alright." She whispered before starting to fall asleep

She smiled and wiped her eyes. “Hey, is that a good surprise?” She asked her, passing Joe some water. “I know baby I know, soon as he is back home I’m gonna make sure you get to come see him okay?” She murmured and talked to her a little longer til she heard Henry’s voice and the phone moved before she heard the dial tone and she just lay back, covering her face.

Jon put his cigarette out and set the ashtray on the side, going to lock up the house and double check every window and door before going to lay with her and go to sleep.

Joseph frowned softly when she hung up "I'm so sorry my love." He whispered cursing himself in his mind for letting this happen to them. He sighed softly stroking her cheek gently wiping the few tears that had fallen down her face away

Max woke up early that morning seeing Jon awake as well "Good morning." She said softly giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before going to the restroom

She shook her head and looked up at him. “I love you.” She whispered. “And I just wish that I had never got into contact with him again.” She whispered.

He smiled and watched her doing her thing. “I love you.” He told her, getting up.

Joseph gave a small sigh and held her closer "I love you too, we'll be okay. We'll have her back." He murmured making her look at him before kissing her lovingly

Max smiled some "I love you too." She said as she came out and went to find something to wear

“Get some rest. You still need it okay? You want me to bring you anything from home? Now you’re awake they’re not gonna let me stay here.” She pointed out.

Jon smiled and went to take a quick shower then came out and got dressed, pecking her cheek. “I’ll see you later okay?” He murmured and went to leave but frowned when he felt her grab his arm.

Joseph frowned deeply shaking his head some "No....no I don't want you to leave." He said quietly watching her some "If anything I could use some underwear, I'll need my phone."

Max frowned as she saw him start to go "Hey uh uh come here." She said kissing him lovingly "You give me proper see you laters." She said with a small smile

He smiled and got down on his knees dramatically, taking her hand and placing kisses from her knuckles all the way up her arm to her lips and smiled. “Is that good enough?” He chuckled.

She just nodded and watched him. “Honey I’m not going anywhere yet. But you need to rest. I want you home within the month. So let’s get you better.” She murmured.

Max laughed happily at him and nodded some "Yeah more than enough." She said happily before she let him go off

Joseph gave a heavy sigh but nodded softly keeping her hand in his as he started to drift off

He smiled and watched her until he had to leave and just hailed a cab back to his place, getting inside and going to isolate himself in his room for the remainder of the day.

She moved carefully to sit by the bed again just watching him then got back to her paperwork.

Joseph grumbled quietly as he woke up the next morning to his stomach growling loudly. He looked around and frowned deeply seeing Carmen wasn't there. He grunted softly as he tried to move and press the call button hoping a nurse could help him out.

Max didn't hear from Jon again for the rest of the week. She was growing scared and concerned trying to call him after the fifth day but whimpered when she just got voicemail "Jon....Jon please call me back,give me some sign that you're alive....please." she said before hanging up

Carmen showed up an hour later frowning. “Sorry sorry I got stuck on a call with Henry. He’s taking her to Jersey this week. Gonna go see his family.” She frowned, passing him an iPhone box. “Here. Your phone is shot… literally.” She told him quietly and then lay the underwear on the side for him.

Jon had been a mess the whole week and just about existing the whole time but he heard the voicemail going while he stuffed his things into a couple duffel bags, hailing a cab back over to her place.

Joseph frowned softly but gave a small nod as he watched her some "They gave me some food, it was awful." He mumbled pouting a bit at her "When will she be back?"

Max frowned when she heard a knock at her door a few hours later. She opened the door going wide eyed as she saw Jon and hugged him tightly "What did we say about disappearing?" She whimpered

She frowned and tensed. “He wouldn’t tell me. And then pointed out that because she is his daughter…. And he has full custody…. He doesn’t ever have to bring her back.” She explained quietly.

He frowned and looked at her. “It’s only been a day.” He muttered, completely losing all sense of time. “But I want you to pack a couple bags…. Come with me… leave the city.” He told her looking a little crazed
