Fantasy Wonderland in Black and White

Duchess giggles softly into her hand. "That's Wonderland for you... Strange yet oddly comforting..." she said as she gave a soft sigh and her shoulders sagged a bit. "I just hope things will be alright... I know that mother will be trying to find me again since... She had arrived as I was asking with my... knight." she said and flushed a bit.

(Sorry been working and sprained my ankle at work yesterday and made it worse at work today. I shall reply later )

Irish Ice Queen

Magnolia smiled, but did not greet Peony back. She was far to lost in her own thoughts to hold a conversation. Arsenic's face went dark at Duchess' description of him, but went to a neutral blank look immediately after. "Ah yes, that's me," He said in a cynical voice leaning back in his chair. "The darkness in the shadows, the bringer or evil and misfortune, the man who ruins people's lives." He laughed softly with anything but amusement. Maggie looked at Arsenic sympathetically. He glared at her indignantly, and she looked away. He didn't want pity. No one should feel bad for him, because everything that had been said was 100% true.

Duchess sighed softly as she bit her lip, wishing she could take back what she said. "Not every that is dark... Is evil.. Because the Queen of Spades is that dark..."

Arsenic scoffed shaking his head in disbelief. "I wonder Duchess, if I make people choose the wrong choices, who says I haven't done that to you? I mean you're with the twin of all things dark and evil, do you honestly think that was a good choice?" He questioned leaning forward in his chair to give her all of his attention.

Duchess closed her eyes for a moment before opening them. "I don't care whether it was the right choice nor the wrong choice. It doesn't change how I feel.." She said while sipping her tea slightly, hoping no one can see her trembling.

Peony glanced between Duchess and Arsenic, her eyes rounding at the implication of their words. Mr. Arsenic must have been the lovely company that her cousin spoke of! Just as Miss Magnolia had visited Peony, Mr. Arsenic had visited Duchess. Had Peony's cousin been offered choices as well? Peony played with her teacup as she watched the interaction between Duchess and Arsenic. There seemed to be something between the two and Peony didn't want to interfere. Still...she didn't like the somber atmosphere.

"Mr. Rabbit once told me there be-ith no good without evil, no light without darkness, and no right without wrong." Peony smiled fondly as she recalled her childhood tutor. "Tis the balance of the world and must be upheld...just as one must always be on time. "

Duchess sighs softly as she gets up. "I'm beginning to believe that... everything was just a game to you..." she said softly, her voice wavering slightly as she smoothed down the front of her dress, holding back tears slightly. "I think... I'm going to go to the White Queen's Castle on my own... Good day to you all... All a good night... Hope Tea time is lovely..." she said as she quickly walked off through the gate and into the Wayward forest, lifting her skirts slightly as she started to run once out of view. Arsenic looked up at the girl and sighed. "I was beginning to think the same." He watched her run out of the tea party, and made no signs of moving or getting up. He needed a break from all these foreign emotions, he just needed to be the old Arsenic right now. The man who did things because he had to, and didn't involve himself with anyone besides his sister -and even that was rare.

Duchess nearly collapsed from all the emotions and pain whirling through her head and chest, she hated feeling like this, she hated being so weak. It was times like this that she sometimes wished she was as strong as her mother. She sighed softly as she lightly gripped the fabric of her dress where her heart should be, carefully she got up and started to head back to her mother's castle. She didn't know what to do and everything hurt, she just wanted the pain to go, she wanted it to stop; and who better to go to then her own mother, cold-hearted and unbreakable. "It seems i'm always just a stupid little girl... messing everything up..." she said softly to herself as she wiped the tears, not noticing they had gone from clear, to black. "Duchess!" Peony cried as Duchess walked from the table. She glanced at Arsenic, waiting for him to react. When he didn't, she stood up. "Prithee excuse me," Peony curtsied and lifted her skirt before running after her cousin. She saw Duchess break into a run. Goodness, Duchess was fast! Peony had to stop and catch her breath several times. She wasn't used to such strenuous exercise. "Duchess!" Peony called, losing sight of her cousin. There were too many trees! "Duchess!" She walked several minutes, until she found her cousin collapsed on the ground, weeping. "Oh, Duchess...," She watched her cousin get up and walk away from the forest...toward the direction of Spade Castle. Peony grabbed Duchess's elbow from behind. "I bid thee wait, Duchess. Wherefore art thou leaving?" (Just to be clear, she's asking 'why are you leaving?')

Duchess stopped slightly and looked at her cousin with sad grey eyes. "...I'm going home... Mother will help me feel better..." she said while black tears trailed down her white cheeks, marring them with their darkness. "I was just a game to him... Just something to past the time in this sad and darkened place..." she said softly while looking down and pulling her elbow away slightly. "I need to be alone Peony... So please... Just leave me... Everyone seems to..." she said as she closed her eyes and turned back towards the Spade Castle.

Peony shook her head stubbornly. "Tis not true, Duchess! There art many that care for thee." Peony held on tightly to Duchess's arm. "I care very much for Duchess and methinks Mr. Arsenic doth as well." She turned Duchess to face her. "He--" Peony finally saw the dark tears staining Duchess's face. "Thy color!" Peony gasped. "Tis fading!"

Duchess gave her cousin a sad and broken smile. "If he did he wouldn't have done what he did Peony... He won't have broken my heart..." she said softly while more black tears stained her pale and fair cheeks. "All of my color... was in my heart... and now... it's gone..." she said while looking at her with sad blank grey eyes. "Treasure your color Peony... Don't let anyone take it..." she whispered before turning away again and starting to walk.
