Fantasy Willowwood Conduits

Chester let out a whistle.
"No shit, that's actually pretty fucking sick. " He said flicking his tail in Jay's direction sticking his tongue out at Ivory in response to her exhausted eyeroll. She brought the towels over to Bolt handing one to him along with the hot drink.
"You wouldn't be saying that if we got hit." She pointed out using the second towel to dry her own face and hair.
"No, I totally would. "

Bolt hummed thanking her for the towel and drink settling on the floor to work on some notes. Clearly thinking about something with the way his nose scrunched up and how Jay had gotten very quiet to not disturb his focus. The two being quiet for a moment more before Jay got up.
“Ghost or not I would think that Eel would still attempt to kill us again. Which I’m sure is not a fun experience. He can’t see ghosts though, so that’s good.”

Chester shrugged doing a little backwards flip in the air.
"I mean, not like he could kill you and me without the right supplies. Besides it could be cool being electrified. No worse then being burnt alive at the least."
Ivory shook her head pulling the books out of her bag and delicately setting them out to dry with a loving tender care to the old pages.
"The point is he's not someone we want the attention of."

“Drowning isn’t much worse. Being electrocuted would be cooking from the inside out. Fire is more outside in.” Jay smiled glad for the friendly chatter.
Bolt clicking his tongue a bit at the topic of the ghosts. Jay quieting a bit as he shrugged gently.

Chester rolled his eyes at Bolt and playfully flicked him with his tail.
"See, nerves or whatever the weird wire things you modern people like to talk about are gone first, boom no pain after like a second. "
Ivory sighed walking up to her door and flipping the sign back to open.
"If we're seriously having this conversation then I suppose I have to vote for being shot in the head. Quick and painless."
"See that's the spirit! What about you Bolty boy?!"

Bolt was quiet a while as if thinking on it. “Slow and dragged out… it’s only a fair way to go.” He mumbled out as Jay shook his head frowning. “I don’t think anyone would like that… even you despite what you seem to think.” He prodded Bolt’s head as his bond waved him off.

Ivory frowned exchanging a look with Chester who threw his hands up into a shrug as if to say he didn't know what to do. Ivory glanced over to Bolt crossing over.
"I have to agree with Jay....nobody deserves that...and you might be being to hard on yourself if you think you do. " She said gently looking over to the man's boyfriend with concern.

Bolt shrugged and went back to work. “It’s highly unlikely that’s going to happen anyways.” He hummed out as Jay bit at his lower lip.
“Doesn’t mean you should think about it like that…” He muttered out as Bolt looked up.
“I’m okay if that’s what you’re worried about.” He firmly lifted his voice a tad.

Ivory sighed crossing over to her counter flicking through the pages of her notebook letting out a sigh of relief at the fact that only the edges were slightly damp.
"....This might not be my place to say, but it seems to me that Jay has a valid concern here...." she said gently looking up from the carefully detailed pages of her notebook over to the couple as she grabbed a pen from a chipped mug that she had turned into a pencil holder.

Jay at that note floated off seeming to immerse himself in other activities as Bolt shrugged. “I think I know myself well enough to know I’m okay.” He asserted as he got off the ground.

Ivory and Chester once more exchanged glances and Ivory shook her head slightly at him.
"Alright....umm about those runes you used earlier, I haven't seen them myself before, do you think you could tell me where you originally found them? It seems a lot more effective of a technique then my usual bottle method." She said changing the topic as she busied herself behind the counter by sorting through some papers.

He nodded and set his notebook near hers. “It’s a tweaked version of one from this book here that I have written down. I had borrowed it from the library one day and had to make things up as I went to get it to work for me out in the forest. I even have the page number I used here.” He pointed out the diagram he had written down and the things he changed he pointed out to her.

Ivory nodded flipping to the section on wisps she had in her own notebook skipping past the detailed drawings to the end of the section grabbing a piece of paper from under the counter and some tape to add it in starting to sketch out the information onto the new sheet of paper.
"Wow,it's incredible you were able to figure that out yourself. How long have you been a conduit for?" She asked with a tone of admiration as she jotted down some of her notes next to what she had copied.

“Ah… since as long as I can remember… at least since twenty years old. I’m thirty-eight now.” Bolt smiled watching her as he glanced at Jay who had decided to leave them alone for the meantime.

Ivory nodded
"Oh wow...I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been... to suddenly be able to see ghosts after 20 years of not being able to. " she commented furrowing her brow and flipping back a couple pages in her notebook pausing to drain the last bit of coffee from her mug.
"Was that before or after working at the hospital? I imagine that must have made things even more tough...especially with having to figure everything out yourself. "

“Shortly before the hospital I really noticed it… while in med school actually. Not that it changes much between.” He closed his notebook and put it away. “It's getting time for me to go... No offence but interacting with people is draining.”

Ivory let out a soft laugh.
"I get it, no need to apologize. Ah here since you showed me the runes you should take this." She said pulling the crystalline orb out of her bag and offering it over to him.
"It's called a bait, it's an effective form of distraction for semi-sentient spirits, I have another and since Wisps can be tricky, I figured it could prove useful. Free of charge by the way." She said with a smile.
"Also I should be going out to handle a couple cases tonight so if you need any back up call me."

“Many thanks. And yes if I need any help I'll be sure to call.” He wrote down his number and tore the page from his journal handing it to her.
Jay now approaching and dramatically flopping on Bolt’s back. “And thanks for helping earlier today too… it's a relief to know that Everett doesn't control all the other people like me.”

Ivory quickly wrote hers out on a sticky note handing it over to him and accepting his in exchange.
"It truly was no issue, it's why I'm here after all...I'm going to see what I can find out about this Everett....if what you say is true about her ability to control Conduits then we need to figure our a way to avoid it and help those already under her control...." she said thoughtfully before giving Jay a little wave.
"Call me or stop by if you ever need anything. "

“Will do… ah here. My address in case you need to find me. Or a break from here.” He took the pen and wrote on the note under his number before waving and heading out the door.
Jay pausing a moment after Bolt stepped out. “Hey… try not to get into too much trouble yeah? I really like how happy Bolt is now that he has someone to relate to.”

Ivory gave Jay an assuring smile
"I won't, and same goes too you two...you both have more experience in this town then me so I trust you know how to avoid this Everett...but she sounds a tad too much like some ultra powerful blood hunter for my tastes....I've been doing this a while myself however...so no need to worry about me." She said turning to start a new pot of coffee as Chester floated around lazily rolling his eyes at Jay's words.
"Y'all are a bunch of worry worts."

“No more than I have to be… Bolt does most of that for me.” He laughed before leaving the store to catch up with his boyfriend. Leaving Ivory at the shop alone with Chester once more. People were milling around outside for the most part. All unaware citizens who lived blissfully arrogant of the dangers in the nearby forest surrounding their own town.

Ivory sighed rubbing at her eyes stifling a yawn once the two had left and were out of sight plopping down onto the three legged stool behind the counter.
"Looks like we have our work cut out for us Ches....:
"Looks like you do you mean...I'm not helping. "

It was getting late into the afternoon. And a more natural light drizzle had started outside the shop. The street lights slowly flickered on as it got darker and the sidewalks began to clear out for the day.

As evening had arrived Ivory slipped out of the store throwing her bag over her shoulder as she locked up, a couple files being held in her free hand.
She stopped flipping through some of the papers a moment before taking off towards the direction of the forest shoving her keys into her bag so she wouldn't lose them. After reaching the woods and walking in for a couple minutes Chester took the opportunity to turn corporal stretching out and cracking his back.
"Fiiiinallly....I hate being stuck incorporeal for long periods of time. " He grumbled leaning backwards almost completely in half in a stretch causing Ivory to roll her eyes.
"Alright first things first we want to avoid being spotted, second we're gonna see what we can find out about this Everett."
