Viewpoint What makes you nope out of a search thread?

True, but it seems like it only takes two posts and if you dont make the cut, your out.

It might be helpful to think of it as different preference in writing.

I ask for at least a paragraph because my roleplays are scenery heavy. Their main focus is on exploring the setting of the roleplays which requires a lot of descriptive words.

And that by it’s nature tends to mean your post is gonna be at least a paragraph.

If however you only give me a line of text it’s usually just dialogue and an action. And that doesn’t give me anything to respond to. Because again the roleplays focus on the setting not the dialogue.

So it could be the person is looking for more descriptive writing and has assigned a cut off for the minimum amount they can work with per reply.

“MxF is my preference, with me playing the female. I SUCK at writing males!”

Instant nope.
People who can’t write both genders are lame. It’s not hard at all to write the opposite gender. There is no correct way to write a female or a male, your characters can be whoever you want them to be.

PREACH MY DEAR.

But what if... I just like playing Male Characters.

Like, I have no reason to nit play female characters... but I like playing male characters.

Well... actually that's the opposite of me.

For some reason.

Yes, if you prefer it, I suppose there’s a difference. Unless you NEVER play female. But let’s be honest, nobody talks about the people only playing males because that’s exactly what other people want for their female characters. Sz

For me, I don’t prefer either male or female. Some days I only wanna play female characters, other days I’ll only wanna play as males.

People who NEVER play female and NEVER play male, however, annoy me.

Adding onto what I said earlier: I guess the reason “I only play females” ticks me off so bad is because most of the time, I have ready to go [loose] plots with a character already in mind.

For example: I have a shapeshifter/werewolf x human pairing, me playing the former. I have a character that I want to use whom is female.

Half the interest checks I come across that I enjoy always disappoint me with, “MxF only, I play female!!”

I wouldn’t even mind making my pairing FxF, but people who are strictly MxF and have a gender preference kind of burst my bubble.

Why do 1x1s even exist. All I hear are nightmare stories about them.
:-_-lines: *cries in the corner*

I think I will also join the 'I'll roleplay anything'-discouraged crew because it usually means lack of commitment from the start.
I can even say it for myself, when I feel like "Oh gimme just any rp I'll do anything right now" I know it's temporary, so I turn on maximum willpower to not look for new roleplays XD

Groups aren’t any better though, they just have different difficulties. I would expect the over abundance of responses about 1x1s doesn’t mean they are worse.

It just means more people who respond to this thread do 1x1s than do groups. Which would mean they are more popular even with the annoyances.

Yeah but people ghosting hurts us less cause multiple people unless the ghost was super important and Mary Sues are weeded out quickly cause everyone's gonna be on their case, not just the one other person in the rp.

But the thing is that’s not true of all groups. There are groups that are derailed by Mary Sues and a lot of people ghosting.

Just the same way that not every 1x1 roleplay is derailed by ghosts or Mary Sues or anything else.

And that is just common problems.

Groups also have problems with Gms playing favorites, lack of organization leading the roleplay to die, one player trying to take over the action, rapid fire responses leaving some of the players behind, people not following the rules, etc.

Like just because people complain doesn’t mean that the entire roleplay type is bad. Nor that groups don’t have an equal number of problem that turn people off.

Personally i believe that 1x1s are great for certain people, if you prefer groups and talling to more than one person, thats you. I love being able to create a connection eith someone and learning that they are like and not having to keep up with so many people.
