Juliette furrowed her eyebrows at Ava, was she... being nice? Did she even really care in the first place? JJ could probably just drown herself in alcohol and nobody would even turn a head in her direction. Cocking her head to one side as if she was considering her idea. However, she wasn't opposed to the idea of her kicking everyone out. Laughing genuinely, and probably more at the fact that she was majorly feeling the drinks in her system. "Necking. Wow." She laughed so hard she was sure she snorted.

for a split second she wasn't that popular cheerleader, and Ava wasn't the outcast that threw attitudes almost as much as she did. They were just Lonnie and Jules, thoughts of more drinking was forgotten, and it was probably because of how much she actually drank. Ironic. Allowing Ava to help her up, although without really paying attention. Sober JJ probably wouldn't accept help, even if it was from Ava, well... maybe she would. But that's not the point. "I'd... really like to see you try. You can be very scary." It wasn't sarcasm, Ava could be threatening when she wants to be. Juliette just knew her so well already she wasn't afraid of the redhead.

"Are you a fake redhead, Hmm?" No, she wasn't but Juliette wasn't even sure what she was asking. It just seemed funny to her. Leave her alone, she's having fun.

"Okay, okay. You know that I'm not like all those fake redheads running around this year." Seriously. It was like the attack of the gingers this year, very weird, very annoying. Here Ava was trying to be her original self, and then all these other redheads came rolling in. At least it made it easier to hide out in the crowd, and no one remembered which one she was. Although, well, no one knew which one she was, anyway. Because, well, antisocial and hissing at people in the corner.

Ava helped Jules to her room, talking to her and answering her stupid questions as she helped her into her bed, and then turned off the light and closed the door before she headed downstairs. Oh yes. She had permission and she was prepared to make people scramble. She was debating on what to use. Gun? Too far. Sword? Eh, what if she accidentally did cut someone's arm off? So instead, Ava settled for just a simple old baseball bat that she found in a closet.

Now, Ava made her way into the main area, pulling the plug to the music and then hopping up on a nearby table. "Alright!" She yelled, cupping her hands around her mouth to shut up the stupid teenagers. "Get your fucking asses out of the house in ten, otherwise I'm bashing skulls." She dropped her hands, and took a practice swing as students started heading out.

Perfect.

June
June opened one eye to watch him and smiled a bit when he sat next to her. Although her smile faded when he asked if she came alone. “Yup.” She said tilting her head up to the stars. “I feel like I’m alone all the time. Well, no. I don’t feel it. I am alone. All I have is my non-sister, but even then she has other problems than to worry about me. Hell, she might just be doing it for pity.” She said speaking to the sky then looking over at a piece of grass. “I can’t do anything though. When I do it just ruins everything more...so why try, am I right?” She touched the blade of grass before she pulled it out with her two fingers. Then dropped it back to the ground. She turned around and looked at him, sitting up. “But you probably don’t care.” She said with a sad smile before she heard someone shouting to get out. She grabbed a beer from him and started to walk back in before pausing. “Nice to meet you.” She said without turning around, but waving her hand as she walked inside.

And I hope we never meet again.

It wasn't unusual for Jace to be up early in the morning. He hated sleeping while other people were awake, and it was easier to wake up early for school when he was accustomed to doing it anyways. This morning was no exception. Even the sun almost failed to beat him over the horizon, its orange light seeping through his windows as he sprung out of bed. Right from the word go his mind was set on the day ahead. The gears in his eager head shifted so quickly from dream to reality that he almost got on Twitter as soon as he was on his feet. Only while he was waiting for the app to load did he remember that not everyone liked to wake up at 'god-damn-it-Jace-do-you-know-what-time-it-is' o'clock on the weekends.

So instead of shooting Ash's sleep schedule with a DM notification, he instead decided it was probably a good idea to go about getting ready for his day. Attending to hygiene, getting dressed, eating breakfast, and messing with his hair a little more than usual. It wouldn't do to look disheveled in front of his project partner. Actually a lot more than usual, as Jace soon found out that his hair was very stubborn. Maybe it would've been wiser to actually do something with it before it dried into a golden rats nest atop his head. So back into the shower he went, washing his hair again, before giving it the old casual run through with his slender fingers once it was no longer a shade of drenched. Perfect.

By the time he'd pulled on one of his signature blazers he was sure a sufficient amount of time had passed. Surely now was a decent time for most people to wake up? He was wrong, according to the clock on his phone. Great. So Jace sat down for a bit of gaming, settling in to wait for a time when the rest of his contemporaries might rise from their blissful slumber. How would he tell when that time was? Rather than leaving it to guesswork, he decided to just send the DM anyways. When Sleeping Beauty returned to the land of the living, she'd surely see it in her notifications. So too would Belle. Unfortunately crazy redhead #X had called a forcible end to the party before he could continue his little game with the new girl, presumably on JJ's behalf. What was it with cheerleaders and overdosing on alcohol? Regardless, that was no reason to abandon a fun idea. So Jace sent a message her way as well, following up on the little lie he'd started. Now all he could do was wait. What fortunate timing too, the match was just about to start.

Despite being a self-proclaimed animal enthusiast, Mom never seemed keen on actually dealing with them herself.

She'd bought a pygmy goat as a "companion". The other goats were functional, this one was like a dog. One with horns, who was also kind of an asshole. The goat, who Shawn insisted on naming 'Bob' to spare it from his parents' hippy-dippy naming conventions, was basically just a petulant child. With horns. Of course, Bob turned out to be a girl. That's life. Despite not thinking names should be gendered, his mother still wrote her name as Bobbi to make it "less confusing".

Bob did have free range of the pasture surrounding Shawn's house, but she really wanted to wander. Especially into oncoming traffic. So Shawn had invested in a leash to take the stupid thing for a walk every now and then. But she smelled and was rude and nobody liked her.

So after losing beer pong to a bunch of amateurs and getting absolutely smashed, Shawn had no interest in going anywhere. But Bob was annoying, annoying, ANNOYING. And after knocking Shawn's cereal clean off of the table when he hadn't even started eating it, he decided it'd be a good time to get Bob out of the house. Should've named her Lucifer, but it was too late now, and every Bob after Bob the goat would suffer from having to share that name.

Mom said she was considering a duck, too. Ugh.

It was a cool Saturday, and Shawn grabbed something from his "goat clothes pile". (A.K.A. the pile of clothes that smelled like goat and would thus always be used for interacting with goats.) It was one of the rare instances where he didn't take a second to think about what he was wearing, put on an inch of make-up, not even do anything with his hair. This wasn't that kind of day, he sure as hell didn't plan on being seen by any human being.

But it's, you know, outside. And you're a guy walking around with a goat. Nothing's ever easy.

Belle Taylor

Belle groaned, throwing another dress to the side. Why was this so damn stressful? Why was she thinking about this so much, it was just a date. She had been on plenty of dates before. Why was it so different this time? She held another dress to her body, examining it in the mirror. No, way too pink. She threw it to the side. God, she had nothing to wear! She groaned out of annoyance and fell back onto her bed. Oh, she was going to be doomed to be an unfashionable mess. Then Drake wouldn't want to go on another date with her and no one in the school would want to be her friend and- "Miss Taylor?"

She jolted up from her pile of sadness clothes as a strangers voice came from her doorway. Oh! she had completely forgotten that the new staff were starting today. Seeing as her mother was going to be gone for one maybe two months she had thought it was best to bring in new staff. So Belle wouldn't accidentally starve herself because she didn't know how to cook. "Yes, that's me. But just Belle is fine really" she said, managing to free herself from the clothes pile. With almost her entire closet on the floor, she still hadn't managed to find a suitable outfit. She might as well just cancel now instead of going through the humiliation. "If I may, Belle. How about this?" the maid pulled a light blue floral romper from the closet. Pretty but also functional. It was perfect. Had her mother chosen this woman with her closet talents in mind? Probably not. Her mother wasn't that thoughtful.

The maid introduced herself as Hazel before she went off to continue her chores. She checked her watch. Oh boy, if she wanted to get there in time she better get ready. Pulling on said romper she replied to a twitter conversation she was sucked into. Turned out the guy was just messing with her, how rude. She rolled her eyes and pulled on the rest of her outfit before heading out the door.

They had planned to meet at the park by the school about... Belle checked her watch for the fifth time in the last few minutes. Twenty minutes ago. Drake was late but that was okay! Maybe he was just caught up dealing with Mason again. There were plenty of logical explanations as to why someone would be Twenty-one minutes late to a date. She fiddled with her ring nervously. Maybe the tire on his bike popped and he had to walk instead? It hadn't been that long and he definitely wasn't going to stand her up. He was way too nice to ask her on a date then not show, right? Just to make sure that he hadn't forgotten about their date she sent him a quick text.
Maybe she would send Mason a quick twitter dm while she was at it. Drake could still be fast asleep in bed

Riding a bike while drunk was not a good idea. Somehow Theo had managed to ride his mother's bike straight into a tree. Not at a slow pace either, full speed into the trunk. Needless to say, his head hurt for more than one reason. The other reason was because his mother hit him with a rolled up newspaper once she saw the damaged bike. The wheel was completely bent out of shape and he didn't even know where the basket was. God, he would have preferred a hangover to this head pain. Always wear a helmet or you will end up with a hello kitty plaster stuck over your forehead cut.

He managed to get through breakfast without being hit with any more newspapers. Which was always a good sign. For a moment he thought his mother had forgiven him. Only to receive a very harsh glare which made him retreat out of the house with his tail between his legs. Good thing he had plans that day. He wasn't sure that he would last very long in that house with a very angry mother. He rubbed his head. God that hurt but at least he learned his lesson. Never drink and drive. Well unless you're like doing it for a dare and riding a bike into a pool or down a steep hill. Then it was a brilliant idea. Well, maybe he hadn't learned his lesson after all.

While Theo drove over to the arcade he found himself wondering how Oliver was feeling. He wasn't as much as a party type as Theo was so he doubted that the smaller male felt good. Oh well! He could cheer him up with great arcade games. Plus he carried painkillers in his car because he was always injuring himself. He popped two of the said painkillers in his mouth and swallowed them dry. It was horrible but he had cleaned his car so there weren't any stray bottles of water.

He managed to find a park right outside the arcade which was awesome but not a surprise. It was rather early in the day, aka the best time for arcading. OOo and arcade pizza because it would be fresh. Nostalgic cardboard pizza for second breakfast? Hell yeah, the sounded awesome. It would probably be best to wait for Oliver to show up first. He didn't want to start eating pizza without him when the small male would need the greasy substance to cure his hangover. Or just because it was great like he was going to do. Deciding it would be a good idea to message Oli, he pulled out his phone and typed into twitter.

Ash
Thoughtful.gif

Last night was mostly a blur of bad dancing, talking with Ryder, and then coming home to her parents still awake. Her mother had yelled at her for ruining the musical, and her dad had just felt terrible for her. Luckily, neither had any idea that she had actually been drunk and high, which meant that for the most part, she got off with no punishment. Obviously her mother disagreed, but her father pointed out that it had been the bad brownies. Which meant no grounding.

However, the next thing that they brought up had scared her. Her father wanted to pull her out and put her in private school since there'd been so many issues with Westbrook already. And yes, Ash had gone to private school for a couple years when she was younger, and it had sucked so they'd pulled her out and stuck her back in public school, which had always been a thousand times better. But what her parents were discussing seemed less like an option, and more like a "This is what's going to happen, deal with it."

So with those thoughts on her mind, Ash laid in her bed, with her gaze focused on the ceiling when her phone beeped with some kind of message. She picked her phone up, checking to see who'd messaged her, and was surprised to see Jace. Right. She'd agreed to work on their history project today, thank god. It meant less time listening to her dad tell her about the benefits and upsides of the private boarding school he'd picked out for. She messaged him back with a place in mind.

And finally, Ash pulled herself out of bed and started to get ready. Her head was throbbing with the remnants of a hangover, but at least it wasn't nearly as bad as she'd thought. It didn't take long for Ash to get ready, and then she was heading downstairs, yelling at her dad that she was off to do homework, and then Ash was out the door before he could say anything.

She hesitated for a moment, considering taking her car, but decided that walking in the cold morning air might do her some good, and off Ash went to the coffee shop she had in mind. Jace had yet to message her back, but she wanted a coffee regardless. Ash wasn't a fan of the bitter liquid but today, well, she felt as if she really needed it.

After ordering her coffee, Ash headed to a nearby table and sat down, sipping it while she scrolled down Twitter to see everything that she had missed while waiting for Jace.

Ava
Coffe And Computer.gif

Ava's parents had spent the entire morning trying to drag a ton of information and stories about what had happened at the party. They were way too happy to find out that their daughter had finally gone to a party, and yes, she was still mad that they had tricked her into buying milk to get her out of the house. Even if yes, she'd had a fun time, Ava would never admit that to them, or to anyone else. After all, she'd lose all of her credibility of hating people if she did that.

She was now in her room with the door locked, and had booted up her computer to do some basic gaming. Ava's headset was on when her phone beeped with a message from JJ. She read it, and couldn't help but smile as she sent back a quick response, and then set her phone back down and loaded her game.

What else was Ava supposed to do with her Saturday, after all? Gaming was the answer to everything, and it just encouraged her competitive nature. And with her still off the high of beating Mia and what's-his-face at beer pong, Ava was ready to keep her winning streak going. And, well, shoot people since she couldn't do that in real life.

It felt like days since the musical, but a simple glance at his phone let him know that it was simply the next afternoon. Hell, it hadn't even been twenty-four hours since everything had gone down at the musical, and his phone had yet another text from Belle. Drake started to type up a response, but he was so out of it that it was coming out purely as gibberish. Some kind of excuse of why he couldn't go but every time he tried to finish typing it, he'd get distracted.

Someone else would offer him a hit from something, he'd set his phone down, laugh and talk, and then go back to try and reply. Fuck. Right. Belle was too nice for him to not finish typing this response. What was he doing again? Cancelling? Maybe he should go... But an attempt at standing up and having the room spin so much that Drake collapsed back onto the couch let him know that there was no way he would be able to go. Plus, well, why would he leave this place?

"What're you doing?" A dude asked. He walked over, plucking the phone from Drake's phone and read over his gibberish response. The dude snorted, typed something, and then sent it to Belle. "There. That's how you take care of needy bitches, Drake. Now don't worry, and just relax, okay?" The guy suggested with a grin.

"Alright, alright. I'll... relax, just give me my phone back." Drake stood up, stumbled, and placed one hand against the guy to try and hold himself up as he reached up to try and take the phone back. The guy just laughed, tossing it to a friend, and Drake started stumbling in his direction. A few turns of this, and then someone threw too high, too fast, and Drake's phone smashed against the wall, falling to the ground in a cracked and broken mess. Well.

"Oh, fuck. Sorry, dude." The main guy said, tossing an arm around Drake's shoulders. "Now you don't have to worry about her blowing up your phone, though, or Mason trying to contact you. Fucking wins all around, am I right?" Although it didn't feel like much of a win to Drake as he looked at his now demolished phone.

"Hey, let's go for a drive, yeah?" And before Drake could do much or protest, he was being swept up in the crowd and heading out the door. Well, there were worse people he could be stuck with.

Luckily it seemed as though Jace had underestimated his classmates' morning schedules. Both girls were swift to reply, causing his phone to go off in the middle of his first match. So much for early morning gaming. Not that he minded of course, but he did have to finish the match before he could give their DMs any serious attention. While he was waiting to respawn, which didn't happen very often, he tried to type out messages before the game tossed him back into the action. A quick reply to Ash here, a little hint at Belle there...

It didn't really register when the new girl stopped replying to him, as Jace was focused on his game. Even when it ended his attention was fixed instead on the upcoming day. Sure the cheerleader was just meeting him so they could work on their project, but still. He was going to be meeting Ash in about an hour. As a result the abrupt halt of his amusing interaction with Belle seemed to be just that. Maybe she was busy? Maybe she just didn't feel like texting? A little disappointing, but not the worst thing in the world. The worst thing would be arriving too late to his definitely-not-date with Ash. The match he was playing had been a long one, leaving him with definitely less than an hour to show up at the coffee shop.

Since he was already set to go, all Jace really had to do was leave. He turned the console off, tucked his phone into his blazer pocket, and-
Actually no, he needed to do more than that. He headed back into the house, stuffed his laptop into his bag, and slung said bag over his shoulder. Honestly, Jace had even managed to almost forget his gloves. Unbelievable. Those he slipped on while heading out the door, finally stepping out into the crisp air.

Only a short while later the boy breezed into the coffee shop, earning a pleasant ring from the door when he pushed it open. Immediately he sought out Ash's table, a smile spontaneously taking shape on his face as he approached. He didn't even have to think about it. There was just something so exciting about that feeling, the way his heart rate picked up. "Hey, kept you waiting huh?" Jace greeted with a joking tone, not really caring whether or not she got the reference. "Sorry about that, got a little caught up with something. Couldn't come right away."

Zach

Zach woke up with a hangover that could of been a lot worse if him and Ava had lost beer pong. Shockingly they made a great team, and had actually had some fun. Being a bit drunk after being dry for the past month and a half, the two girls from earlier had dragged him away again, and what could he say in his state he couldn't resist a little more fun.

When Ava abruptly ended the party threatening everyone's lives if they didn't leave, if someone had asked him, he might have admitted to finding it hot, it was only 11 and he wasn't ready for the night to be over. The girls dragged him off to some other party where they had a little fun of their own before he snuck out around 2am to head back his own house. Only to find his mom Josephine asleep in the armchair in the living room. Picking the blanket off the back of the couch and covering her up. He felt bad that she had waited up for him, he had promised her he would be home by midnight, and he ended up being two hours late. Zach made his way upstairs and to bed, he hadn't drank since leaving JJ's so he had already began sobering up, even so he continued to stumble up the stairs.

------

------

Despite his late night, the first one he had in a long time, he was up by 9 to help clean up the house, do dishes whatever he could to get on his moms good-side after staying out way passed curfew. Josephine woke up in the chair he had left her in to find Zach making coffee. "Zach" She said breathlessly. "What the hell was that?" Josephine never screamed, her calm but stern tone was almost scarier. "You can't scare me like that, you best be glad your mother was on her work trip or she'd be on the verge of strangling you right now." Josephine wasn't wrong, Marlo Zach's biological mom was the more aggressive one. But he still regretted scaring Josephine, he hadn't had any plans to stay out as late as he did. "I know. I'm so sorry mom." He placed the coffee down on the counter and made his way over to his mom. "It won't ever happen again." He wrapped her in a hug, both of his mom's were a lot smaller than him, Josephine even more so, he figured he must of gotten his height from his 'sperm donor' as Marlo liked to refer to him as. "Don't make promises you can't keep" She pulled her son in tighter, "And thanks for the coffee, but I hope you know you're still not off the hook." She released him from the hug walking over to the coffee he had left on the counter raising it to her lips. "You're grounded for the weekend." Zach wanted to fight it but knew that he was lucky to have only been grounded for the weekend, and lucky that Josephine was the only one home.

He made his way back upstairs to his room, turning on his PC and putting his gaming headset and connecting to the online community. He was a bit of a geek with gaming, but he wouldn't ever let anyone at school know this, just like he didn't let them know he actually had some brain cells left from football. He noticed a familiar handle online. He connected his mic, "Hey, ready to do some world domination?" He chuckled lightly. "How was your week, it's been a while."

Rae had loaned him the car since she would be with Chase for the entire day, granted she hadn't just given up the car willingly, he had to agree to doing her laundry for the next month. But it had been worth it considering he could actually drive to Scarlet's place to pick her up for once. He parked the car on the side of the street, looking in the rear view mirror once more running his hand through his hair before getting out and walking up to the house. Scar hadn't told him much about her family, but he was shocked at the size of the house. He made his way up the walkway, towards the front door, they had been out a numerous amount of times but this was first time he was picking her up.

Madison pulled his sleeves down before knocking at the door. He bounced on the balls of his feet, hoping it would at least be Scarlet who answered the door. Rocking back and forth he looked around his surroundings, putting his hands in his pockets. He licked his lips nervously while waiting for someone to open the door.

She jumped a little when a voice started speaking given the fact that, well, she hadn't been paying very good attention. Ava relaxed after a moment, smiling faintly when she recognized the voice. "Uh, not much. Normal shit. I have to tutor some dumb ass, but other than that, nothing." Okay, so it hadn't been the worst week, but she wasn't about to go into the stupid details of what her past week had been. Seriously. More had happened this last week than in her whole school career.

"What about you? Anything fun?" Ava asked as she loaded up a game. She leaned back in her seat, picking up her mug of coffee and taking a quick sip while she waited for the game to load before setting it back down and then getting ready. Ava cracked her knuckles, and then settled her hands into their familiar spots on the keyboard.

"Oh, don't worry about it." She glanced up from her phone as Jace approached, plastering a faint smile on her face before she turned off her phone and slipped it into her pocket. As much as her thoughts seemed to be, well, everywhere but here in the moment, Ash was thankful for the distraction all the same. Even if it meant doing schoolwork and finishing a project that she was less than thrilled to complete, it at least got her out of the house and off thoughts of the musical.

Right. The musical. The memories still haunted her, and there had been no shortage of videos of the things that had happened. Luckily, the fights between her brother and Stu, and Mason and Alaska had taken the forefront and for the most part, her really horrible performance had been forgotten. For once, she was thankful with how social media worked and pulled her out of the limelight for now. Of course, she'd still prefer a single Saturday with no repercussions.

"So, aren't we basically finished?" Ash asked as she pulled her laptop from her backpack and set it up on the table, turning it on and waiting for it to load so she could pull up the project. Hell, Ash knew that they were finished. It wasn't ready to hand in, and she'd never actually felt this confident about a project before.

Charlie McAllister
There's a song in my head: Space Song - Beach House

Charlie had no hangover cures. He liked to wallow in his own suffering, because he deserved it.

He woke up once at six in the morning with stomach pains. He staggered to the kitchen and fed a whiny Kurt Catbain before vomiting in the bathroom, so hard it seeped all the energy from his body. He couldn't even make himself move, and slept on the bathroom floor. Eventually his brother kicked him and told him to go away, sending Charlie back to his room, where he laid in bed for awhile without doing anything. Not thinking or speaking or moving.

His eyes hurt and his head hurt, everything hurt. He wasn't sure what he'd gotten up to last night after briefly speaking with JJ, but it probably involved copious amounts of hard liquor. He woke with a headache, and instead of the money he carried, he had a plastic bag of ecstasy in his pocket.

Which was really scary.

He'd never touched anything harder than xans, so even being in the same room as the little smiley devils got him feeling beyond uncomfortable. Kurt came in for a scratch behind the ears and Charlie delivered, the Persian cat purring loudly like a revving motor.

His door opened and his mother entered. No privacy in this house.

"Charles." She hissed. "Your brother told me you were sleeping on the bathroom floor and reek of liquor."

"Mm-hm." He grunted.

"Look me in the eyes or so help me, I will choke out that cat."

Charlie complied. His mother continued. "I don't care what you do anymore, it's clear that you're determined to be a deviant, but keep your brother out of it. It's a bad influence on him, and if he tells anyone it makes me look bad."

"Sorry."

"Sorry? I have this conversation with you every week. When are you going to stop apologizing and start listening to me?"

"I dunno."

"No going out today." His mother curled her lip back and grabbed his acoustic guitar. Charlie squealed like a hurt animal. "And I'm taking this until next week, hopefully you'll learn something. Stop being so dramatic, you don't need this anyway."

Then she left with his possession, as quick as she came. Charlie still had his electric in the closet, at least. Though if he tried to plug it in, he'd get his ass kicked the moment he played a single riff. He'd have to use it unplugged, if at all. And his mother's "open door policy" meant she or his father could really come in whenever they wanted to, without knocking or even making a sound.

Charlie laid his head on his cat. Kurt didn't understand any of that shit, he was just an animal. Charlie wished he was an animal too, that they could both be cats and get the fuck out of here.

Lucy would've helped, but it was safe to say she was long gone at this point. All he had was a cat, and the internet. He pulled open his Twitter page.

When she began to talk he was thrown off a bit. Granted they had been playing together for years, so he knew her voice. But yet it sounded more familiar.. And yet at the mention of her having to tutor some dumb ass... No it couldn't be. Of all people, he quickly brushed it off. "Yea my week has been a bit insane to say the least." He leaned back in his seat swiveling in the chair as he waited on the game.

"It's funny you had to tutor someone this week. I had to be tutored this week." He tapped on the keyboard just messing around with the sounds impatiently waiting.

"I actually went out last night despite it being football season." Zach smiled to himself, she was the only one that knew both sides of him. Despite that neither knew each others real name.

Neck Tie

tn1cEFA.gif

Neck Tie winced when Casper asked if Mason was his friend. Mason had made the little freshman’s life miserable from day one, and he threatened to shove nuggets down his throat, so if anything they should have been the worst of enemies! But then he went to Mason's house, they sold some pies together, and Neck Tie felt a strange connection with the older kid that he couldn’t really explain. So was Mason actually his friend? ‘Um. . . yeah. . . I mean, I think so?’ he said, although he didn’t sound so sure. At least. . . he kind of wished it was so.

Casper turned to check the text message. Neck Tie's smile faded when he saw the look on his friend’s face. Did something bad happen?

‘Hey, what’s wrong? . . . Casper, wait!’

He didn’t get an answer. Before they knew it, Casper was already heading outside without any explanation or goodbye. Was that boy planning to walk all the way home? It wasn’t like they lived in the same neighbourhood!

‘Let me grab my coat,’ Martin said, with a worried look on his face. They didn’t even have time to pick up the pizza which Casper had dropped. They chased after him and Martin offered to drive him to wherever he needed to go.

As it turned out, there was no real emergency at all. Casper had just received a text from Aaron, who was expecting him at the park a long time ago. Obviously Casper had forgotten to show up and Aaron was not pleased. Neck Tie didn’t understand what the big deal was, though. Couldn’t Casper just text back saying sorry and that they’d have to meet another time? It was so strange the way he just dropped the pizza and everything, and how he looked like a frightened rabbit. More disappointingly, they didn’t even get to finish their co-op season on FIFA, which was just getting good. Since it was Saturday, Neck Tie had hoped that Casper wouldn’t have to leave until later in the day so they might even have time to try a few other games together. Thanks to Aaron, their fun was cut short and they were now sitting in awkward silence in the Maine traffic.

It goes without saying that Neck Tie wasn’t a huge fan of Aaron. They were in the same class together. He had tried to befriend Aaron a couple of times, like on the bus the day they visited the university. But that kid had something of an attitude problem, definitely.

Martin couldn’t drive all the way up to the park gate, so Casper had to walk the rest of the way. They said their quick goodbyes, but Neck Tie thought the last minute that he should accompany his friend. He had sensed that something was wrong, because of the nervous way Casper was behaving, so he got out of the car and caught up with him on the sidewalk. What a terrible friend he would have been if he had let Casper go alone!

"Yeeeeah... Pretty much." Jace couldn't help but feel like he'd been called out for stealing from the cookie jar, or something. Their project was indeed very done. It was one of the few big assignments that he actually worked on, so he knew firsthand just how done it was. Whoops. It worked though, didn't it? Contrived though the idea was, he had convinced Ash to come out and meet him.

With a sheepish grin he decided to follow through anyways, setting his bag down and taking a seat across from the cheerleader. "I guess there's probably a few things we could nitpick, but..." Yeah no, he didn't actually want to do that. There was no sense in going for overkill when he was already confident in an A. "Other than that, I guess I thought we coooould... Uh..." In fact he was so confident that he literally couldn't think of anything else to do with their project. Jace let his eyes wander a bit while he tried to find some words to use. Alas, it was to no avail. After a few seconds he let his gaze return to Ash, realizing that he definitely didn't think this through. "Actually I... I didn't ask you out here because of the project." He finally admitted, chuckling at his own lack of foresight. Honestly, he had to stop messing up in front of Ash. It was, like, a million times more embarrassing than with anyone else.

Ava

"Well, that's because you're stupid." Ava replied rather bluntly but, well, that was how she rolled. "No offense or anything." She said, pausing in her speech for a moment so that she could do some shooting of a dude. A smile came onto her face when he died, and then Ava resumed her talking and her gaming. "I mean, why else would you get tutored?"

"Ooh, a party? Fancy. Did you get drunk? Use those sweet pickup lines to get all the ladies?" She snorted at her own joke because obviously, pickup lines sucked and never worked. Right? Right. Probably. Ava personally wouldn't be charmed by some stupid pickup line... unless it was video game related. What? She was a sucker for games.

Ash

She'd only been partially listening to him while he talked about the project. Ash logged onto her computer, pulling it up with a few quick clicks and was starting to scroll through it. When he was talking about what they could add, she finally stopped scrolling to look back at him, waiting for him to answer, and was kind of surprised to see him at a loss for words. This was confident Jace, not her brother Jace. He always seemed so sure of himself, so sure of his words.

"Oh? Then... why did you?" She was... confused, to say the least. Yes, Ash had gotten to know Jace fairly well during the course of the project, but she was still confused. She wouldn't have necessarily considered them friends, but was that was this about? Jace just wanted to be friend and hangout with her? If it was, well, he could've just asked instead of coaxing her here under the guise of them working on a project. What? Ash could use more friends.

Zach

Zach laughed shaking his head, this girl was really reminding him of Ava. But this couldn't be her right? Then again, she must have a twin because they were so similar, not only in voice but in speech. "I think you might have an idea." He smirked, not that she could see, because if she had any idea who she was playing with, then she wouldn't be online any longer.

At this point he was pretty sure it was Ava on the end of this game. Someone he had never gotten along with in person until recently, was someone he had worked really well with online. Most people avoiding playing against them because they made such a good team. "Yea you know there was this red head that I teamed up with for a round of beer pong, made me drink each shot the other team made. Didn't even leave me with her digits" Granted Zach had Ava's number, and if this wasn't her he then the gamer girl on the other end wouldn't react to the description. However knowing Ava she might combust finding out her best online partner, was her real life enemy.

It was cold out today.

May didn't have any plans in particular for that Saturday. Bee didn't really want to go outside for too long, even with her little dog sweater on. Which was fine. Bee did her business, and May figured there was enough room for her to run around indoors if need be. But her current set of albums had worn out its use, which meant, of course, it was time to buy some new ones, as opposed to listening to Master of Puppets for the eight-millionth time.

Her parents had gone off to work. May couldn't imagine a life where she had to work on the weekends. Even having to do weekend homework was about as fun as being choked out. Freedom truly was a fleeting thing. She took her red bicycle into town.

Despite Westbrook being the sort of small town where everyone knows one another, May didn't get many greetings. She wasn't sociable, and her only friend lived in the next town over. Others either saw her as 'nice' or 'weird'. She'd missed a huge thing last night, which sounded pretty bad. A bunch of fights or something. May was glad she missed it, because she'd have probably gotten anxious and cried or something. Not that she knew any of the people involved by name, other than JJ, who didn't even really fight with anyone. And knowing JJ wasn't a feat. Everyone knows JJ.

She parked her bike outside the music shop. It wasn't usually very populated, since people were all on digital nowadays, but May liked the feeling of having something physical. Plus they also had vinyls and cassettes, which pleased whatever hipsters came around. May spent her birthday money on a record player a few years back, and hopefully she'd be able to get a cassette player soon enough. She managed to get a few vinyls off of eBay -- including Lateralus by Tool, which she couldn't have been more pleased about.

She locked up her bike and shoved her hands in her pockets. She hadn't been over in a few weeks. May went through albums the way most people go through tissues, and she spent almost all of her money on them. Her allowance, her dogwalkers money, and the occasional holiday presents her friend Kandi would send her. (In her words, "It's what all girls secretly want anyway.") They'd also begun selling movies on DVD and VHS to broaden their potential sales, but she didn't really care about those as much. Most of the movies she'd seen recently were really boring.

May strode into the shop, waving to the man at the cash register who she was vaguely familiar with. (Still didn't know his name, though.) Wandering around, she decided to take a trip into the indie rock section. Maybe someone had finally written indie music that didn't sound like an ambient sounds track made to put her to sleep. It's good to hope.

"Well I..." For some reason it got a million times harder to speak when she actually looked at him. Jace even broke eye contact for a moment, a little reluctant to be so direct about his intentions. "...I thought that..." His words came out slow, in a measured cadence, while he briefly became very intent on deciphering the patterns in the grain of their table. Mid sentence, however, his piercing eyes returned to meet that pretty blue-green. She was way more interesting to look at than the table anyways. "...That it might be a good for you to get out of the house for a day, or something. Especially after last night."

Finally. As with most things, it became easier once he just committed to what he wanted to say. Like an awkward weight being lifted off of his pounding heart. Granted it wasn't the full truth. Jace really just wanted to spend time with her, but he couldn't imagine saying that without it being interpreted romantically. Now that would be the death of him. He didn't really know what would happen, and he'd rather not confront that rather serious subject in the middle of a casual coffee meeting. Better to just finish getting through the already awkward admission he'd made. Surely it'd be smooth sailing from there, right? "Can't imagine it's a pleasant place to be right now."

Casper Ollila

Everything was pretty fuzzy, but Casper was vaguely aware that he ended up in a car. He curled up without buckling his seat belt as he explained what had occurred, though not very well. He still couldn’t believe he’d double booked like an idiot.

During the silent ride, Casper bit at his fingers, though he eventually calmed down enough to buckle his seatbelt half-assedly and murmur, “Sorry.”

He kept his eyes down, ashamed of himself as he finally pulled out his phone and texted Aaron, heart still pattering rapidly in his chest. After the quick exchange of texts, Casper nibbled at his fingers a bit longer, free hand moving to run through his hair.

When they finally came to a stop, Casper almost forgot to say goodbye before getting out of the car he was in such a hurry. But he remembered, and headed hurriedly into the park, though he could only walk so fast, and he wasn’t prepared to run in public quite yet.

At the sound of noise by him, Casper curled up a bit, expecting Aaron and a lecture. But instead, it was Stu. Casper couldn’t help a small smile at the sight of him. Maybe Aaron wouldn’t get as mad if Stu was there.

For a second, Casper stopped walking, just looking at Stu, trying to think of something to say.

Eventually, he just said, “Thanks,” then turned and kept walking.

~`*`~

Aaron Ollila

Aaron woke up early that day. It wasn’t a difficult endeavor to avoid his mother, staying locked in his room, then eating breakfast while she was out doing god knows what before sending her a text that he was going to the park with Casper.

Of course, that was where things got complicated- for some reason, he couldn’t find Casper. He searched everywhere- Okay, he checked the backyard and peeked into Casper’s room- but eventually, he just assumed that Casper must have made his way to the park on his own in an uncharacteristically proactive move.

It was a nuisance, and it only added to the many annoyances of the day before- getting told to scram by some redhead, being left in charge of the brownie table… that thing Drake had said that didn’t really matter because Aaron didn’t give a shit about Drake, anyways- but Aaron was able to push it off as he walked to the park, yellow jacket popping heavily against the lush greenery surrounding him.

Fuck, did Aaron hate the cold. It was cold, and despite living here his entire life, he still hated it. He wished he’d been born somewhere warmer, preferably somewhere snow didn’t exist at all.

But he so didn’t want to be home with just his mother right now. Sure, Robert was an asshole, but at least he was somewhat predictable, and he’d always seemed to have a soft spot for his ‘little girl’. Aaron could barely contain a roll of the eyes at the thought.

He got to the park, and after a bit of searching, couldn’t seem to locate Casper. He sighed, shutting his eyes gently. He continued walking around as people began to show up, waiting to see his brother.

Eventually, he was aggravated enough to send a text. He waited a couple of minutes, staring at his phone, waiting for a response, mouth ticking down slowly, until finally he decided to call.

No answer.

He was seething, but he continued walking around, debating leaving when his brother finally responded, his brother’s name more fitting than ever.

From: Idiot Brother

Srory in on my way now

To: Idiot Brother

Okay.

From: Idiot Brother

Are yuo mad? :(

Aaron decided against supplying that last text with a response, instead sitting down somewhere near the middle of the park and waiting. If they were both looking for each other, after all, it might take longer for them to find each other.

Eventually, Casper approached, and Aaron stood up. He had his friend with him- Of course Stu was with him. Fucking Stu. Aaron didn’t like him- He kept trying to talk to Aaron, as if he wasn’t stealing his brother. Who did Stu think he was?

Aaron’s mouth slanted as he approached the pair, a sigh escaping quietly as he said, “So you finally decided to grace me with your presence?”

Casper just looked down, that kicked dog expression that grated on Aaron’s nerves so much firmly in place. He wanted to hit him so badly, but… He glanced at Stu. He’d probably be a little asshole about it, wouldn’t he?

“I didn’t have to invite you along, you know.” He kind of did, but Casper didn’t need to know that. “This was a favor, and you fucked it up.”

Ava
Coffe And Computer.gif

She'd only been partially paying attention to what Zach had been saying. For the most part, she could care less about his party or whatever he'd done while she kept on playing. Ava was a streak, and nothing was going to stop her from murdering the masses and getting number one. It's what she lived for, but she still tried to keep up with the conversation at hand. Beer pong. Redhead. Number. Sounded like a legit night, interesting. Whatever. Not really what she'd call a fun night, but--

Wait. Suddenly, the voice sounded familiar, and Ava started to connect the dots. Tutored boy, beer pong last night with a redhead who refused to drink. There's no way that it could really fucking be Zach. Stuck in her thoughts, someone came around a corner of the building and killed her. "Fuck! Damn it, Zach!" She yelled, now angry, pissed off, and ready to throw or break something.

Ash
Thoughtful.gif

"Oh," Ash's smile faded a bit when he mentioned her home. Not the most pleasant place to be was an understatement, and she really didn't want to think about it too much. She fiddled with the presentation, mostly just to distract herself and try to get her mind off of the whole home thing. "It's worse for Jace. And I mean, my parents want to send me to private school immediately, but whatever." She shrugged as if it was no big deal, even if she was terrified. A school where Ash didn't already have a reputation? Where she didn't have Ryder or better yet, where she didn't have Grace? It sounded like hell, and she still remembered the horrific uniforms. So itchy and uncomfortable.

"Anyway, do you want to get out of here?" Ash needed to move. Sitting here and dwelling on what happened was doing nothing to help her mood. Plus, well, there were too many thoughts circulating her brain. So she quickly shut down her laptop, sliding it into her bag. "No point in working on a finished reputation, and there's like, a thousand places more interesting than this place." Ash didn't really wait for an answer, instead pulling her backpack on and picking up her coffee, drinking the last of the nasty liquid.

Jamie
jamama.gif

The party had ended quicker than he would have liked that night, but Jamie decided he didn't entirely mind. June had been nice company and was definitely a change in the type of people he usually spoke with. He had seen Scarlet at the party on his way out, accompanied by a rather tall boy. It was rare when someone matched him in height, but he could only assume that he was an athlete of some sort. He was a little younger, too, so there was no doubt he would surpass Jamie's own 6'4" frame after some time.

He had felt a sudden rush of what he assumed was protectiveness at the sight of a boy with his arm wrapped around his step-sister's torso. It was completely involuntary, since he really didn't want to see her as an actual family member. But, with the title of step-sister constantly being hammered into his brain by the endless texts from his father to look out for her, it seemed that whatever psychological trick that man was using was working. Jamie shook it off and had sat in his truck, even after Scarlet and her boyfriend had left from their parked spot behind him.

It was passed midnight by the time he finally pulled up the long driveway of their home. Scar still wasn't there, her car absent from its usual spot. Frowning, he had entered the house and immediately went up to his room, though leaving the door cracked open so he could hear when she came home. Jamie figured he would give her until the sun rose to finally use the phone number his father sent him and give her a call.

He could barely see the sun coming up on the horizon of the hills through the window by his bed when the sound of the front door opened and closed with a familiar faint click that sounded whenever he would sneak home in the early hours of the morning the way Scarlet had just done. Where had she gone? Has she been with that boy until this late? Jamie was slightly annoyed that she came home at such a time only because she kept him from sleeping until then. It had been of his own volition, but he didn't see it that way. She was lucky both of their parents were working - either on a business trip or working a double at the hospital.

Jamie only got a few hours of sleep. For some reason, rest was not coming to him as easily as he expected. The boy decided a trip to the rink would be a good idea. Saturdays were often closed most of the day unless there were games; this weekend they were technically closed, but he had a key and was not opposed to a rink all to himself. He had packed up most of his gear and dropped it by the front door when a knock sounded against the thick panel of wood. Looking through the peephole, the familiar face of Scarlet's boyfriend appeared on the other side. Jamie sighed and supposed it was about time they met, so the young man reached out to the doorknob and gave it a twist.

Scarlet
scaryoyushoulseemelater.gif

Last night had been a long night. One of the longest Scarlet thought she had ever had. None of it had been bad, though, for spending time with Madison was amazing and her talk with Alaska afterwards made her feel as if she really had a true friend in Westbrook. It had just been the pure length of it, not getting back to her home until around 5am. Immediately, she fell asleep in her bed. It was practically like she had blinked, her eyes reopening to the sound of Jamie rustling around the upstairs walkway doing whatever it was that made so much noise. She figured she should get ready for the day, though, and dragged herself out of the comfort of her bed.

She had showered and dressed by the time a knock sounded at the door. The girl smiled, leaving her room and trotting down the stairs to answer. What she didn't expect to see was Jamie opening the door for her boyfriend and introducing himself as her step-brother. That was a first. Standing by the couch that overlooked a large flatscreen with a fireplace just to the right, Scarlet ran her fingers nervously through her hair when Jamie let the boy inside. She cleared her throat and gave an awkward wave from across the space that separated them. "Hey. Seems you've met Jamie. We're step-siblings, as of a week or so ago." She hoped he wouldn't get mad that she didn't tell him about that.

The young man had closed the door behind the blonde boy, his expression that of mere innocent curiosity. He didn't seem as sulky or standoffish as usual, which was a nice change. Maybe it was just for show since there was company. Either way, Scarlet didn't question it as she gave Madison a hug, wrapping her arms around his torso, before looking up at him with a smile.

Jamie was looking from Mads to her for a moment before he gently cleared his throat. "What are you guys up to today?"

What was this? Was he trying to... have a conversation with them? To Madison, this probably seemed normal and nice, but to Scarlet, this was uncharacteristic and borderline suspicious. She looked at her step-brother for a moment with narrowed hazel eyes. Was he...trying to see if they were going to be hanging out there alone? Jamie was clearly leaving soon. But there was no way. He wasn't actually being a protective older brother. Right?

"What?!" Jace even managed to surprise himself with the sharp tone of his voice. But seriously, what? Her parents were going to send her to a private school? As in not Westbrook? He knew immediately that he didn't like the idea of that. It would mean no more Ash, and just when he was finally starting to spend a little more time with her.

His shocked exclamation was probably a little out of place though, he ought to do something about that. "I mean uh... Yeah. Sure. Where d'you wanna go?" Aside from the out of place reaction he'd given at the mention of private school, Jace kept up his friendly demeanor. Even if he was starting to worry a little bit about the future. Was she actually just going to disappear? When? Would he even see her again once Saturday was over? Jace knew he was being ridiculous though, fretting so much about a girl who wasn't much more than his partner on a class project. So he kept it under wraps, standing from his seat and returning his bag to its rightful place on his shoulder. "Not a lot of interesting in Westbrook, but I'm sure we can find something."
