Active [West Empire - Cipactli Forest] Property for my Property - Part 3: Having a Wonderful Monstrous Time

This RP is part of the Isekai Hell setting. It is a direct continuation of Part 2: Let me iiiiin! and will likely be followed up by a continuation of its own. It is currently limitedly open to be joined. If you have a character that might find themselves looking to be enslaved or that might find themselves wandering through-out a monster-infested forest in the West Empire on the border with Kuridan, let me know and we can see what we can work out.

What to expect out of character:
This part is meant to be the third part to a series (aiming for 40 to 60 days per part) with the goal of Saoirse obtaining a Complex Slave Trainer asset, of which this part will focus on gaining the [Supporting Staff] (general workers, be it slaves or contracted workers) asset.

Round-turning/narrative posts are planned every Wednesday and Sunday morning or afternoon (UTC+1), so post before then or risk being skipped.

The RP will focus on exploration and character interactions. Combat encounters are likely to happen. Effectiveness system rules will be used in its 'light' version. Some dice rolls might be used to spice things up with randomness. Multiple posts for going and forth between PC's in-between narration rounds are allowed.

What to expect in character:
The RP takes place in a forest near the borders of the West Empire and Kuridan, which is known for its high concentration of monsters. Some (in)famous slavers are fond of using the place as a breeding ground for new slaves, though it comes at the risk of loosing their own lives to the very beings they wish to enslave.

Saoirse Desrosiers, a bottom-rung member of the Desrosiers family of Haregon/Rabbitfolk slavers, has managed to get her paws on an item that seemingly enslaved the Sienna's Estate steward and that will both allow her to utilise said steward and continue to 'unlock' her estate if repaired. In order to do so, she's looking to find her brother in the Cipactli forest, as he is a well known slaver of monsters that operates in the area and who's likely to know how to fix the artefact she obtained.

When joining, please let me know the following things in your first post:
1 ) Any specific achievements/goals your character would have within the overall goal of the RP, such as trying to increase standing with a certain faction or obtaining a certain item/asset. So long as it doesn't diverge too much, I'll see what I can do to include it.
2 ) Any point boosters the character might have. (Attentive Student, Mentor, Devour, Narrative Booster, etc.).
3 ) Any [Wanted] or criminal titles your character might have. (Note, some city or guild-related settings will make entry for criminals considerably more difficult and would need discussion pre-joining.)
4 ) Any Buddy Skills, Masterwork Skills or Complex Assets your character might have.

Saoirse woke up a little grumpy after having spent the night at an inn due to not being able to properly enter her estate. Whether or not she'd entered some of her slaves instead was up to how far they'd have pushed things, as she'd have been surprisingly passive herself. Her thoughts had already started to run wild, as there were many things to keep in mind and account for, for their next trip. It likely wouldn't be a comfortable one either.

The first order of business was getting repairs and supplies. The crew would have their gear repaired and was granted the ability to suggest some supplies for Saoirse to bring along. Seeing how they were planning a week-long, if not longer, trip into the wilderness, they would need to be well-prepared. As such, Saoirse has granted each of her slaves a lot of freedom in suggesting and buying what was deemed to be needed. OOC: Here's the first challenge. Please add a list of any non-point-cost items that your character would bring along. This includes what they would bring personally and what they would ask others to bring along, both mundane, specialised and general. Anything you can think of that they'd need and that isn't mentioned already. Anything not included on these lists that isn't already on one of the characters sheets either, will not be allowed in the RP and will be considered forgotten by the party.

The group had settled on taking the nearest Portal to a forest on the border of the West Empire and Kuridan. That's where Saoirse was sure she'd find her brother, whom could in turn help her fix the item needed to obtain the Estate's Steward and with it continue obtaining more of the Estate itself. Having (hopefully) prepared well enough, the group had set out from there. The city with the portal had a carriage take them to a nearby town. From the town, they had to go to the next village on foot.

From the village, they had to take small hunting paths toward the forest. However, they'd come to a halt.

Saoirse Desrosiers

“I think this the spot I've once been warned about by my brother. The Moss-dead Territory.” She'd state, as she looked at the trees. “Do you see all this moss? He's told me there are some monsters lurking amongst it. They are weak, as their bodies are made up entirely of moss-like substances, but they will attempt to drain the health and life of unsuspecting victims by latching onto them like parasites. So try not to get too close to any of it.”

That said, it was tough to proceed in general. “Then again, we'll have to wait here. My brother agreed to sent someone to guide us to where he's operating, though seeing his line of work, it's best we're ready to face some... let's say... monstrous guide.” She sighed. “Then again, with there being monsters in general, we'll have to be weary about not attacking our guide whilst still being able to spot any that might just portray themselves as such.” It was a challenging start over all. “If any of you has any ideas on how to prepare for spotting one from the other, I'd love to hear them.”

Melia Hayward
GYOmdVf.jpg

Melia was sticking close to Saoirse. She'd gotten some supplies in a back-back (whatever the others suggested and couldn't carry) for the 'camping' trip on her back. She was on high alert after hearing the mistress' warning. “I'm afraid I do not, ma'am.” She'd admit to her shortcomings in separating murderous and monstrous friend from murderous and monstrous foe.

Jastira Veidi

YHl3aGi.png

Jastira had not been eager to tag along, but the mistress, for some reason or other, had not granted her permission to leave or stay behind. So here she was. She too, would be carrying some supplies in a back-pack. Perhaps that was why she was here? She rather disliked being used as a pack-mule. With some luck this all would be over with soon enough. That said, she did have an idea. “Perhaps if we were to halt or restrain it by default, for one of you with a good enough Appraisal ability to observe it first?” She'd learned that such a thing had a lot of use. “It should show us if the monster is your brother's property, should it not?”

Saoirse nodded, confirming that she believed Jastira's assumption to be correct.

Diego wasn't used to sleeping on soft beds so he slept in a bedroll on the floor as he was used to from his foundation days. He awoke not even a minute after Saoirse and got himself dressed and prepared as much as he could. First thing in the morning the group went to get repairs and supplies, with his armor repaired and his weapon brand new, he felt better. But now was time for supplies, a week-long if not longer trip into the wilds. Something they needed to prepare for well.
"Tent or two, spare firestarter, a lantern with fuel or torches. Some peppermint oil or leaves since their scent is something insects hate. Other than that I don't know what we might need."
Diego said as they were getting supplies. If they had to do this, let's make it at least a bit easier for us all he thought.

After the little business, they were on their way to Saoirses brother. They were in some weird forest in another country.
"Yep, lots of moss here." Diego jested to himself, he just hoped no swamp people would be here they were one kind of annoying monster he didn't want to fight just cause of their annoyance and how hard they were to cull. Thats why they had enlisted the help of other anomalies and captured them within the state of Florida.

"Sound like one mean monster. However, if they are so weak and moss-like then we might have ways to make them stay away with fire. Though moss itself isn't that flammable, but when it dries up it catches on fire quickly so hopefully that trait of moss is on them as well." Diego stated after a bit of thinking about it, especially once Saoirse mentioned that their guide might be monstrous in nature he did not mind.
"I worked with anomalies before I doubt the guide will be more horrendous than the Anomaly number 401, the Human Palm Tree... I don't want to even remember that one." Diego says while shivering a bit just remembering the anomaly, a tree literally made out of human body parts, not ones it grows but ones it steals violently from living humans, killing them in the process.

As they contemplated how would one figure out how one is that creature and not moss Diego simply answered.
"While I have some Appraisal ability I doubt it's as strong as yours. But I will gladly do the restriction of movement part of the plan on anything that comes close."

Being used as a bed warmer had certainly been a new experience for the Wolfman, one that had piqued his curiosity. Striving for excellency, he certainly hoped that his efforts had been found to be superior to his feline counterpart. He aimed for the first place, not the second. As an early riser, thanks to his head-butler position under his previous servitude, he was quick to devise a long list of items that the group might find necessary in their excursion into the wilderness, some of which overlapped with Diego’s own suggestions. Well, better than having an abundance of items than to need and not have them, right? Waste not be damned.

  • Survival Essentials:
    • Waterproof tarps
    • Cooking set
    • Rope
    • Multipurpose Tools
    • Map and Compass
    • Lanterns and Torches
  • Food and Provisions:
    • Non-Perishable Rations
    • Herbs and Spices
    • Emergency Rations
    • Tea leaves
  • Defensive Equipment:
    • Trap-Making Supplies
  • Comfort and Convenience
    • Clothing Layers
  • Transport of Supplies:
    • Beast of burden
  • Magical Utility Items:
    • Warding charms
  • Hunting and Foraging Tools:
    • Fishing Gear
    • Traps and Snares
    • Preservation supplies
  • Saoirse's supplies:
    • Shade Umbrella
    • Luxury Rations
    • Fur-care products

However, he doubted that the group themselves would be able to carry the items. “Mistress, might I advise acquiring a beast of burden, like a pack-dragon or an armored rhino?” Giving his suggestion, he waited for a moment before continuing. “While the group could be able to carry all the items themselves, their efficiency would certainly be diminished in case of an emergency, despite Ryuuji’s healing capabilities.” Considering the long trip, the suggestion made quite a bit of sense as far as he was aware of. What if the group was forced to fight after a long, tiring march? The suggestion also came as a way to better understand Saoirse’s mind: would she forgo safety in favor of training? Then again, the Fenrir knew that there was a possibility of the Cow ended up being made to carry everything as a test of might. The very thought amused him briefly.

“Life sucking moss monsters?” The butler repeated, his predatory amber eyes darting around, tensing slightly at the mention of such creatures. Had these creatures been hiding between the vegetation and tree-lines as the group traveled? That couldn’t be… otherwise the other more-combat oriented slaves would already be armed and ready to fight, right? Regardless, that had been enough for him to draw his dual swords, trying to sharpen his natural senses to any shift or movement.

“If we end up mistaking our monstrous guide for a normal monster, slaying it in the process, it could be quite the problem.” The Wolfman began to ponder how it would be best to be sure that wouldn’t come to pass, even more so since he didn’t really know much about monsters. Jastira’s suggestion of restraining the creature was certainly sound and Diego eagerness to do so made for a sure plan. “We could also set up non-lethal, restraining traps around the perimeter while we wait for our guide. Whatever ends up being caught by them, could be appraised and have their nature checked.” He suggested.

Ryuuji Kamimura

Elvario Elvario Maxxob Maxxob Megilagor Megilagor Karcen Karcen

Ryuuji got prepared with the others when it was time to get ready. Similar to Jastira he wasn't exactly thrilled with what this operation required, far from enjoying going out into the wildernes with monsters but he wasn't exactly going to go out and complain about it, instead he'd grit his teeth and get the operation done. That's what he thought of this whole ordeal an operation like what adventurers would do, which he supposed wasn't the worst thing, hopefully whatever they went against even if it was strong wouldn't be able to deal with their joint powers.

He'd have provided a neat written list in <Beastial> on parchment using his ink dip pen.

By the time it got the forest area, Ryuuji looked around on alert, just in case something undesirable showed up that had to be dealt with, while he knew that dying wasn't''t the end in this world often, as long as there was something of the body left usually one could come back with high enough healing, even if the chances of accessing said healing became increasingly slim..it was just better all around to not die. The group would be in pretty rough shape if he was to die on the job too. Thankfully he got some sort of strange cup with a skull on it that appeared to refill itself after a time after it was drunk..and upon appraisal it seemed like it could be quite useful for he himself to use even if albeit unpleasant in an emergency situation.

Ryuuji nodded. That didn't sound very nice at all, moss monsters and what not. On the plus side moss tended to be damp so maybe his lightning affinity might come in clutch a bit more should they need to fight one of the things.

"In fact moss tends to be moist, perhaps my ability to shock would be useful here.." He'd vocalize after Diego. Then there was the added fact that they had to make sure they didn't fry presumably what sounded like her brother's monster slave guide. It sounded like Fenrir and Diego had pretty decent ideas all around as Ryuuji listened further, on front of end of things and now the practical on how to solve this problem.

Jastira also added what she thought and Ryuuji figured that was probably a good bet,

"I also have an appraisal ability, while I too don't believe it's as high as our mistress', it is still quite serviceable and can reach a fairly sizable area of effect, if we can't tell by looks I'm inclined to agree that setting them up to not be harmed but halted so we can relatively safely appraise them."

Cipactli Forest – Moss-dead Territory

Diego had been able to get all the things mentioned on his list, with Melia offering to carry one of the tents for him. She'd also carry a fair share of the many things suggest by Fenrir.

Saoirse Desrosiers

8gBjbx8.png

Fenrir's plan to hire a beast of burden wasn't the worst, but there was one major downside. The asset would have a point cost to it. “The monsters in this forest are too big of a risk, both in coming after the beasts of burden and in scaring them off along with our supplies. The terrain being far less suitable for them doesn't help either.” It wasn't a bad idea, but still far from ideal. “Leaning Pocket Dimension magic will be on the priority list. That should solve these issues.” That said, thanks to Fenrir's suggestion, the group would've been able to rent a beats of burden until the point they'd reached the edges of the forest and had to leave them behind in the last village they'd passed.

She listened to Diego's words, looking at the forest. “It doesn't seem all that dry, but perhaps they'd instinctively fear fire regardless.” She wasn't entirely sure. “A Human Palm Tree...?” She asked, then shook her head. “Never mind, I don't think I want to know.” I was probably for the best to keep some sanity in tact by not asking after all the things Diego brought up.

As for restricting the monster, she'd nod. “Good. Though if I were to appraise them, I'd have to get rather close, as I can't use the ability at range.” She'd probably have to take the risk of appraising said monster herself, in that case, though if things worked out, her slaves would be able to keep her safe enough whilst doing so.

Fenrir's suggestion made her raise an eye-brow. “Most monsters aren't all that easy to catch like that. I doubt we'd have the know-how and tools to catch them. Worse, we'd have to get into the moss-covered areas to place and hide the traps, where we might fall into one of their traps instead.” To that extend, even some of the gear they already had might prove less useful that it could be due to the lack of skill among them in using some of it, whilst they weren't able to get all they wanted. (Traps and fishing supplies are probably part of and/or needing traps and survival skills respectively. Same for lockpicks and maps without skills like Area Knowledge or Navigation, as well as healing potions (consumables) and smoke bombs (Gear) and any hunting stuff/back-ups not already on the sheets themselves).

She'd nod at Ryuuji's suggestion. “You can try it at range first, if you can't read it, I can try it from up-close instead.” That sounded like the least risky way to go about it. On the topic of picking ways to go about it, it seemed their time had ran out already. Through the moss-covered forests, two entities approached them. It seemed neither of them were even the slightest bit worried about the moss-dead monsters that might be lurking on the path they traversed through the forest, stepping onto the moss without a concern in the world.

The first approached without saying anything.

Teti
tmYeXrZ.png

Teti hadn't been super happy to hear they were heading out to some monster infested swamp area after he had shared his lady's bed ironically not to much had happened the mood was not there there and Saoirse had told Teti he could wait. It might not seem like him, but well Teti had been okay with being the bunny woman's body pillow for the night instead. He was not quite the nympho he came off as and finally Teti was starting to express that, however when they got back that was a different story or if Saoirse needed a little extra release in her tent at night. though Teti felt more it was their tent as he was not only a maid but a bed companion so assumed he would be sharing her tent and bedroll often. The idea of getting extra supplies was not something Teti was good at, despite traveling most of his life that just wasn't something he had been in charge of and the others seemed to cover just about everything. They had all the basics, all the survival gear,, so Teti felt he could focus on more creature comforts.

  • Tea set
  • Tea blends/ leaves
  • extra soft pillows
  • folding chairs

" I really should learn that pocket dimension stuff, though magic has never been my thing, but i can see how it could help now" Teti said having been near by Saoirse but quiet while the serious stuff was discussed as he had little to add. In truth the forest made Teti uncomfortable it was so humid here, teti was a desert dweller he was used to things being hot and arid and freezing and arid never humid. He did hope the supposed guides knew the area and how to survive in it well, as while he might know a desert and how to live there for a short time, these people should get what was safe to do in a forest. As the guides showed up Teti remained laid back in attitude though was always close to his mistress, always on guard to a degree as his own hands were weapons thus he was never unarmed.

Fenrir nodded a few times when hearing that his suggestions of pack-mules could end up as a detriment to the group, rather than a boon. Even more if ended up attracting some hungry, mossy monsters. Still, the rented animals were useful up to some point before they entered the forest proper. However, one thing that Saoirse had mentioned piqued his interest almost instantly. “Pocket Dimension? If the mistress thinks it would be proper, and it is within my capabilities, maybe I should learn it?” He suggested to the bunny, thinking that she would have the best eye to gauge if it was possible or not, as well if he should devote himself to learning it. “Or maybe Teti would be a better candidate for it.” He added to the feline-maid own words.

Unfortunately, it also appeared that some of his suggested items, and capturing ideas, were beyond the group’s capabilities. That left them in a rather precarious situation, if they had to procure food while in the forest. Hopefully, the rations he had advised to be bought would be enough for the whole trip. Otherwise, might his speed help them to hunt animals. And, on the topic of items, the butler too ended up carrying part of the suggested items with him, as to not overburden any of the other slaves.

The Wolfman couldn’t help but wonder what sort of monsters they would end up coming across, and if they would end up being hostile or not. To be frank, while he would fight, Fenrir had to be realistic with his fighting capabilities at the current moment: they weren’t anything to write home about. Thus, he was glad that Diego, Melia and Ryuuji appeared to be prepared for whatever tussle they might get themselves in with the mossy creatures. Or, at the very least, that is what he certainly hoped for.

Suddenly, however, the group was accosted by two masked vagabonds. Bold ones at that, who walked around as if owning the place. Fenrir, reflexively, tensed. Muscles contracted, despite the question by one of them, with tree-like qualities He stepped closer to Saoirse. His strong, furred hands already hovered over the pommel of his swords, but made no overt hostile movement for the moment. It was in Ryuuji’s ballpark to try and Appraise these too, while the Wolfman himself attempt to sift through the question with his own skills [Insight F].

Mention: Elvario Elvario Saoirse Desrosiers

"If push comes to shove I can carry most of the stuff, though you will have to somehow secure it. Since i feel like i could carry a grizzly bear right now with no problem." Diego exclaimed looking at what the beasts of burden were carrying till now, he honestly could probably carry most of it himself if someone did a good job packing it all and tying it up that is.
"Believe me boss if I could not remember that one I would not remember that one myself." Diego said when Saoirse herself preferred not to know what the human palm tree was.

"Same with me, but it would be better for me to be the one up close and personal. No offense to boss but you are one we can't lose here." Diego explained, that losing Saoirse would make them free slaves, though that might sound enticing to some it just meant anyone with a little know-how on slaves could make them their slaves, and he doubted any other master was better than Saoirse in the terms and conditions of being her slave.

When Diego saw the two figures approaching them, sure they looked monstrous though they were still far, far cuter than most of what he had to deal with at the foundation. So with that lack of fear, Diego approached the two of them closely, with his glaive in one hand carving a small path in the moss-ridden ground ahead of himself to approach them. "How can we be sure you are sent by the one who we trust? If you allow us to appraise you to make sure or produce something which will make us not doubt you anymore we will come with you."
Diego hoped he did well with his choice of words, IF the two of them would allow him to be appraised Diego would walk a bit closer and use his Appraisal E rank on them. IF not he would stand there at the same distance ready to fight if needed.

Ryuuji listened to Saoirse's feedback on what people had mentioned bringing and their plans moving forward, it all sounded pretty reasonable to him. She even raised some points that he may not have initially considered. It was a pretty obvious to Ryuuji who the best candidate to learn pocket dimension was among them at the moment, but he wasn't going to speak on the matter now, nor did he really have a strong desire to offend anyone by stating the obvious, however some of the others learning utility magic could prove to be useful in all actuality he was aware of that. Jastira might very well be the next choice in line once she got her magic going again.

Regardless, when it got to her speaking to him, he'd pay attention and nod. "Understood I'll do that first thing then, if it is working for your brother it shouldn't mind being appraised given what it is, it should be used to that as something expected.." Ryuuji spoke.

Ryuuji had stayed near Saoirse when it came to the excursion, and when the two figures finally appeared, despite hearing Diego asking permission, Ryuuji had no qualms not waiting for it to be given, this wasn't a time for etiquette it was a time for action and deterring if he had to shift his magic focus into one where he attempted to blow their enemies away.

Without needing to move or give off any vibe that he was casting thanks to component less Ryuuji did a silent check, just gazing seriously at the pair, using

Teti had been able to bring everything on his list, except for the folding chairs. Those had been voided by Saoirse. Why? They'd add a fair bit of carrying weight and she'd have six acceptable seating options available already, so there was no need for them.

Saoirse Desrosiers

8gBjbx8.png

“Pocket Dimension magic could help just about any of us. Whilst not leading to flourishing, I still deem it among the most convenient skills to possess. Not having to carry things, always being able to have something to store them in on hand, possibly being able to bring dubious goods wherever you want, keeping your wares and items safe from robbers, not having some aces in your equipment on full display. The advantages of it are nearly endless.” She'd list a fair few reasons. “So if either of you feels like you might have an aptitude towards picking up such a skill, I'd encourage you to attempt it.”

Fenrir tensing up was spotted by both monsters, who'd tense up themselves in turn. Though his insight told him both were mostly just eager for a fight, as one might except from a monster. It didn't manage to distinguish the reasons behind it, sadly enough. He did, however, figure out that the one with the beak seemed ever so slightly more passive than the wooden one with the scythe.

Diego carrying everything was a thought, but it was one she'd discard. “Other than Melia, you're our main fighter here. We can't have you hindered too much in your movement.” As for being the one they couldn't loose, that much was obvious. She had no clue why she'd take offence to that. “None taken.”

As Diego asked the monsters about their loyalty and as he started to approach the two, he'd feel his glaive cut through some forms amidst the moss.

qYKhb4Q.jpeg

Small creatures jumped up and out of the way at the glaive, though some got hit. They made odd squeaky, screamy noises at him, clearly angry and very eager to bite him, but not brave enough to actually do so. At least not yet.

Monster, Wood Guardian, Enslaved

The monster closest to Diego was the one who'd spoken up before.

“Sure. See for yourself.” It would state, with some level of confidence. As Diego appraised him, he would get [Monster], [Wood Guardian] and [Enslaved] as titles.

???
iJ2wrfy.jpeg

Monster, Bone Guardian, Property of Bozho Desrosiers

Ryuuji's magic had just enough Area to capture both. His appraisal being slightly higher, got him some similar-ish results. Both were [Monster], one was indeed [Wood Guardian], the other was [Bone Guardian], but where one said [Enslaved] the other said [Property of Bozho Desrosiers]. A peculiar find indeed.

Melia Hayward
GYOmdVf.jpg

Melia, seeing how Diego was nearest to the wood-like one, would move herself in between the other one Saoirse. That said, she did not dare stray off the paths and into the moss-covered forests like Diego had. “Any results?” She'd ask, not liking this situation one bit.

Jastira Veidi
89qdlDt.png

YHl3aGi.png

Jastira was not having a fun time either. The best thing she could do right now, was to keep her catalyst on hand and stay close to their warriors, or well, between them and the foes up ahead. This was definitely not something to sing home about.

Overhearing all this from a distance was Kagemalum. He'd been sent all the way into this forest to gather the corpses of some plant-based monsters that were supposedly a type of superfood for the Hive Queen, one that'd get her to lay enough eggs to refill the ranks of the bug army. After all, his queen needed her veggies. His task was to locate them, see if they could be harvested and brought back and bring a sample along for the sake of it all.

Yet he'd been distracted by Saoirse's group appearing in the same area. Almost instinctively, the [Hive Mind] would command him to bring the rabbit. Rabbit stew would an ideal meal for the Hive Queen. The only question was, how'd he go about trying to get to her? Right now, he hadn't been noticed just yet, as the group was preoccupied by the other monsters, but that might not last for much longer. Perhaps he could wait for an even more opportune moment, stir the pot a little, or just come out and spark some flames.

Kagemalum

(Currently covered with an all black cloak)

Kagemalum had been diligently working on the task given to him by the Queen. Tracking a group of the local plant-based monsters. His silent stroll following them was stopped almost instantly when he heard people nearby. He had beaten some before, but he got a little overzealous and charred them, most likely beyond practical use.

He unsheathed his sword without a noise, and approached the group. Extremely slowly. His mind started to urge him to gut the rabbit kin, who seemed to be the leader. But her posse was big. Obnoxiously so. For now, he crept around them from a distance. While tailing them, he started sizing them up. Slowly approaching the rear of the pack, he remained hidden amidst the trees, while also avoiding the moss, as it had stopped being his priority.

So this Diego guy and the Melia whom he wasn't able to identify were the main fighters? Good to know.

Kagemalum approached, Erasing his Presence to avoid detection. Getting closer, and closer, until he was in range. And then he attempted to Backstab Saoirse.

Part of him wished to wait, see if a better opportunity presented itself. But his more instinctive side wished to kill as soon as he possibly could. He wanted the rabbit, and considering the two closer than her looked like lesser threats, it was worth a shot. She seemed to be their leader, after all. The fighters can wait, he had some bodies between them, after all.

Having done his first strike, he adjusted his body to face as many of his opponents as possible. His cloaked figure silently staring at his opponents, gauging what would be the next best option from here.

The Wolfman listened intently to Saoirse’s explanation of what a Pocket Dimension was. “It seems to be a very valuable capability to have, mistress.” He conceded, keeping his silence that, as a [Beast], he wasn’t that well versed in the magical and uncanny. Would that only give a better ‘room’ for his pockets? Would it be heavy to carry things inside this Pocket Dimension? Maybe, in this regard, Teti would end up having some sort of advantage. The cat maid’s tight, little pocket already appeared to be able to handle quite many things.

Seeing the monsters tensing back at him, Fenrir didn’t back down. Even more when his senses warned him of the pair’s eagerness for violence. Instead, he stood his ground, giving a small step forward as Diego moved in to engage with the two. And, with the human moving, the butler amber eyes would shift from the two monsters who approached them and instead focus on the little greenish creatures who sprouted out of the ground.

The Wolfman wasn’t exactly pleased of having his swords still sheathed and would draw them, slowly, as to not present (or at least try to) a readily available threat for the two who were Diego’s focus. “Should we Oil The Wheels with the green ones?” He asked, in a tone loud enough to be heard, already practicing the sentences who were agreed upon earlier. As much as they didn’t seem to be that dangerous at the moment, he would rather not take any chances. And, unfortunately, they didn’t seem to have come up with one to check if there was danger or not. Seems like it would be perfect to be used regarding the two masked ones. “Or the others too?” He tried to be as vague as possible.

Teti
tmYeXrZ.png

Teti didn't like this forest to much noise to many things that cut of his line of sight, how did people deal with living in this humid loud place. The desert had its own dangers of it's own but some advantages like it didn't make teti want to strip because he felt hot and couldn't sweat. Teti glanced around at times but couldn't see any dangers, not that he would know what was a danger in this place. the strange monster wood people thing seemed to be their guides and Teti assumed they would be aware of the danger present in the place they lived. there wasn't to much for Teti to do though he could think of how to use a pocket dimension, maybe it could hold things in time keeping things hot or cold so he could have pre prepared snacks and tea in it that he could pull out at any time when his lady needed it.

The green thing bugging Feniri made teti chuckled " You made a friend so fast why get rid of it" he teased kind of wanting to see the creature bug the wolfman the whole trip.

He listened to the pocket dimension business, perhaps he could do something like that.

While he noticed the strange green ones, his attention was more on the two monsters and who they were/if one or both of them was being deceitful in any capacity. Ryuuji was focused on the information he had learned about the monsters thus far so he'd report back to the group what he learned from his appraisal.

He'd continue to stay near Saoirse for the time being, still at the ready to strike down monsters if necessary, If albeit more discretely.

"<The [Bone Guardian] has a title says that it is [Property of Bozho Desrosiers] I would like to be under the assumption that it would be given orders never to harm anyone In the Desrosiers family , but would that be too presumptuous?>" Ryuuji stated in Beastial.

"<The woody looking one is a [Wood Guardian] also enslaved, but the owner is not specified, at the very least, that means it's being controlled by someone else to some extent..perhaps neither are our enemies after all." Ryuuji continued, unaware of any more dangerous development taking place.

He looked to them, "So you're both here to guide us then yes? If we could get to that part sooner rather than later that would be ideal." He stated plainly looking at them with his probably pretty signature natural serious face at this point. Teti talking about making friends with any sort of monster, was not on Ryuuji's bingo card, even in jest, what Fenrir had to say was more up his alley, in that Ryuuji thought that most monsters should simply be either eliminated or enslaved.

As permission was given Diego would use his appraisal ability on one of them. Though he did not learn much he was able to learn he was enslaved by someone, thus leading him to trust it more as he knew Bosse's brother enslaved monsters. Diego upon gaining his results stepped back a bit, when he wanted to speak of the results Ryuuji just happened to speak of his results so Diego simply nodded while saying. "Got similar results as him, though couldn't check the green one."

"No need for the oil, the little ones might be angry but they are ambush predators. They won't strike if they can't get the upper hand. From what I'm seeing."
Diego replied to Fenrir's question, seeing as the moss creatures parted ways for him even though it was because he was clearing the way with his glaive, but them not attacking due to that meant they were closer to ambush pack predators than anything else unless they just feared attacking when such a large group was nearby.

"Making friends with monsters is a treacherous part, Teti take it from someone who lived in a site that housed ninety nine of such beings. though that wasn't even one percent of the total held by the Foundation."
Diego spoke up upon hearing Teti's comment about befriending monsters, sure he didn't have much against it, he lived where he lived surrounded by monsters or anomalies, some were friendly, many weren't friendly, and most were deadly in one way or another. He just knew that there was an inherited risk with just the thought of doing something like that.

Saoirse Desrosiers

“That it is.” She'd confirm about the Pocket Dimension to Fenrir. He was also able to draw his weapons without causing any panic or interruptions to occur. “The green ones seem mostly harmless for now. Just try not to fall down or get lost.” It seemed they were the type of [monster] to swarm you the moment you looked weak and vulnerable.

Upon hearing the Ryuuji's appraisal results, backed up by Diego, she was confused. “Just [Enslaved]? I don't think that's...” She could not finish her sentence.

[Surprise] effect. No defence possible.
Kagamalum: Strength A (6) + Weapon B (5) + Ability E (2) = 13 Effectiveness
Saoirse: No passive defensive skills and being up against surprise = 0 Effectiveness.

A steel sword pierced through her chest, ripping through her organs like it was meat on a butcher's table. As if that wasn't enough, the moment she cried out in pain and terror, it caught flame, burning her inside and out as she was able to give one last scream in pain and terror as the life left her body.

Immediately, Melia, Jastira, Ryuuji, Diego, Fenrir, Teti and even Lei-Cao (wherever she'd be at), would see their titles switch from [Property of Saoirse Desorsier] to [Former Slave] as the contracts and ties they once had to her were broken upon her death. Their freedom coming from a most unexpected source, though the matter in which it'd been obtained would mean that many might deem them 'free real estate' upon spotting them. Their caste would likely be that of commoners, having been enslaved once, which meant that future prospects weren't the greatest. It also meant that those already interested in them (like some Gnolls and miss Desorsier senior for Ryuuji, Teti's parents and the man trying to buy him up for Teti, some of Fenrir's former master's debt holders and perhaps the remaining desert piggies for Diego, as well as a certain butcher and some beef appreciators for Lei-Cao) might start sending out some folk to enslave them for themselves. For now, however, they'd get to enjoy sudden freedom.

Kagemalum, unaware of the freedom he'd provided, would have his Presence Erasure ending (lasting only one round without duration) and would suddenly be visible after his stabbing.

Combat is now active.
Cooldowns are in effect. (Cooldowns from Kagemalum carry over as he initiated combat).

Although she was shocked and confused at what had just happened, she was next to react. The Wood Guardian, on the other hand, would spring to action. With Diego having gotten in range of his scythe, he'd make use of the sudden interruption. By attacking him with three scythe swings aimed at Diego's midriff, hoping to slash him in two and feed him to the little green ones.

He'd nod when he heard that the lil monsters were [Opportunists] themselves, It was a dog eat dog world out there, and you'd be foolish not to prey on the weak when it was advantageous to you...at least financially, Ryuuji wasn't about to go out here murdering peeps if he could avoid it.
What happened next wasn't really on the agenda what so ever.

Her just enslaved comment wasn't reassuring this might very well be an enemy, for all they knew it was a monster who had been enslaved by a nefarious criminal or even another monster, since Ryuuji knew full well it was not unheard of for monsters to enslave one another when they were stronger and or smarter than them, at least that's what he had heard in passing.

Unfortunately Ryuuji didn't have a ton of time to work her words through even as he looked at the suspicious monster coldly when suddenly Saoirse cried out in pain, causing Ryuuji to immediately pivot his head, to see that she had been stabbed critically by a cloaked figure, his eyes widened in surprise something which rarely happened of the ever focused one. He could suddenly see that his title shifted to not being her property which one who was free which could only mean that Saoirse had actually been killed which when he looked at her she had literally been cooked from the inside out.

Thoughts raced through his mind briefly, he should run, it would be incredibly stupid not to run then and there, leave everyone else for themselves, who cared, he'd be free and could make his way to the East Empire and maybe get some slaves of his own and live out in luxury as a hero, this thought did briefly pass his mind. However there was part of Ryuuji which felt..indignant by the whole ordeal, who the hell was this guy to come up and stab his mistress and kill he because he felt like it? It was far from lawful and Ryuuji didn't respect it.

Not just his mistress but someone who Ryuuji had grown fond of, she was smart, knew that valuing your own benefit was key as an overarching goal, and she was far kinder than any other slave owners he'd really seen, only resorting to physical discipline because it was the only language Lei-Cao seemed to speak rather than it being a sadistic default or something she threatened the others with. Some part of him felt that he might regret this decision, but it was compelling enough that he didn't want her dead.

Instead first he'd have to deal with the closest enemy, so that they couldn't stab him or the others. "So you think you'll stab my mistress and just walk away?" He'd ask coldly while he was casting almost eerily indifferent sounding, not giving away his intention as thankfully his componentless was high enough for what came next. Without even needing to move, green light electrical energy crackled through him, He'd focus sending three sizable green lighting bolts down on Kagemalum.

While simultaneously Ryuuji sent the other two the way of the Wood guardian.

Let There be BIG Smite!- Componentless Magic C, Magic C, Selective C, Magic Targets F, Magic Range E, Light affinity F, Lightning affinity F - Grade C - 3 Post cooldown.
Ryuuji fires off greenish light lightning bolts to smite up to 5 targets up to 100 ft away from him.

With that Ryuuji called out "<Two immediate enemies! Keep them busy while I do my work!>" Ryuuji hoped that everyone had been around him long enough that meant healing, not wanting to tip off the enemies that he was capable of that or otherwise he'd definitely be targeted pretty quickly he felt.

With a lack of options Ryuuji was going have to fry his ring catalyst unfortunately to bring her back, maybe they'd be able to find another which was higher grade soon.

Because his componentless magic wasn't that high yet, He'd have to make gestures with his hands, speaking softly in what sort of sounded like a combination of Terran and beastial, focusing a good deal, the greenish light-lightning energy building up in his ring which was starting to glow intensely as Ryuuji made a bit of a pained expression, cracks on the ring forming, however should his spell be successful suddenly an impressive swath of green electrical light came shooting down from the sky and struck Saoirse's body and if it was successful it'd rapidly heal her injuries back to default as well as getting all of her vitals working again.

Presumably however Ryuuji's ring catalyst would literally break into pieces after, the casting being well above its limits. Thankfully he didn't need one to continue to casting, only really needing it to cast the level of healing he needed, even if that did take a good deal out of it him he felt, it was the first time he had ever casted a healing spell that high...the very first person he'd ever have resurrected.

Rise from your Graves! Magic B, Healing B Magic Targets F Magic range F, Lightning Affinity F, Light Affinity F - B Grade Ability 4 post cooldown.
Ryuuji revives up to five targets who are up to 30 ft away from him, have bodily remains, and who have died within the last 10 days.

Finally Ryuuji used My Archetypical use in a new world! With the violence against both the green little pests and the two masked ones being put off for the moment, thanks to Diego and Ryuuji’s appraisal of them, Fenrir still decided to keep both his swords drawn.

His attention was suddenly caught by Saoirse and, to say that the stealth attack surprised him was an understatement. The butler’s eyes widened with the spurting of blood and mangling of her chest, his mind not being able to understand where that was coming from during the attack. The two masked ones appeared to not have moved or acted, so how was that even possible. What he knew for sure is that his mistress’ life had just been scythed.

Various thought ran through his mind, one of which was to wonder if Ryuuji had the healing capabilities to undo the fate who had befallen the bunny. However, soon his bestial, amber gaze would slide towards someone else, someone who appeared to have stepped out of the shadows. No doubt crossed his mind as soon as he caught the sight of the blood-stained blade. He was who had just cut his employment short, the one who had acted with such extreme violence. An act that certainly had not been warranted, as far as Fenrir knew.

“You are going to pay for that, you bastard!” The butler growled, bearing his fangs before rushing in towards the cloaked one in a flash. He saw the others joint attack against the murderer and wasted no time before swinging his swords in an X motion against him as well. And, from the very corner of his eyes, he saw one of the masked one going after Diego. He clicked his tongue in displeasure for not being able to help his fellow slave, but hopefully he would be able to. Soon.

Diego cursed under his breath in his home tongue as he felt free. That could only mean that Saoirse either broke their contracts or died, but considering her then she could only have died, but how. Well, Diego didn't really have much time to ponder on that or even look back to see what was going on as he saw a scythe coming his way from the Wooden Guardian, not wanting to even attempt tanking that, and not having enough time to try and parry it Diego simply jumped back a bit while leaning a fair bit to the back to give more room between himself and the scythe, using his Parkour abilities while allowing him to take a quick glance at what the others were doing.

Engaging the one who killed Saoirse while Ryuuji was attempting to resurrect Saoirse on the spot, that was good. "Get the homewrecker bois. I've got this clanker over here to myself. You can join if you finish that one and I'm not done yet."

Diego said as he finally stepped outside the reach of the Wood Guardians scythe. He then grabbed his glaive tightly with one hand while the other rested further up its shaft a bit loosely allowing Diego to perform a quick succession of stabs at varying angles, essentially he did a Stabs-A-Lot. Through his intense emotions right now he somewhat channeled the energy he once felt when using his old glaive which manifested on the blade's edge, albeit only partially thus forming some sort of force around it instead of its life-leeching capability of his previous glaive. Following some of Saoirses and Melia's teachings he followed his big attack with a smaller one just a regular basic attack through its use he tried to get the Wooden Guardian into his rhythm of a fight and not its rhythm as he could tell it would get much harder that way.

And as his attacks ended he began to feel stronger, Ryuuji probably cast a buff on them, it was a nice feeling so Diego in retaliation whistled a little song called "I Feel Good".

Teti

Teti had been okay with just hanging out by Saoirse while in his mind they waited to just be taken to the mistress's brother to get this excursion into this humid cramped place over with. He was however trying to think of things to bring next time if they ever had to do this again. He had been trying to be alert but lacked any training in terms of detection methods. he could hear better than others, but that didn't really count for to much in such a loud place. Well a city was loud, but Tati knew the sounds and here he didn't so he didn't know what to filter out and what was odd. then everything went wrong as Saorsire cried out and was dead in moments as a strange bug man thing attacked. Then one of the guides attacked for some reason. Well it looked like Ryuuji had a way to deal with their now former owner's death. As Teti became a former slave in likely record time from being a slave. he didn't really have time to think about what that could mean with the seal gone and the contract now void he was free to just leave. Yeah no he wasn't doing that there was no way he was dealing with all the shit of loving on your own or trying to find another master that was as soft as the bunny. Still he wasn't much of a fighter, btu he knew a few things and well they had the numbers the bug man would die for this. Teti had been right there so he didn't have to move far and had little chance to put any dance into his actual strike, and just launched it at the attacker and he would keep going just strikign out as much as he could.

Kagemalum

The Hive Elite would hiss in sadistic satisfaction when he felt his blade going straight through the rabbit's guts. The problem now was taking her away. It would've been easy, would he have brought some troops with him. But what's done is done.

No longer hidden, these slaves did not value having their freedom served to them in a silver platter, and attacked him. /"Idiots, all of you..."\ He spat in Hive. Not that it really mattered to Kagemalum, they were all filthy scum barely worth as a meal for his underlings.

No more words were needed, he got to work.

There was a cannonade of attacks rushing his way to him, way too many. His masterful presence erasure had him a bit tired, but he mustered the energy to vanish exclusively from sight. With the chaos and proximity, being heard or smelled accurately would surely be difficult, while also paying mind to his danger sense as to which dodging route felt the safest. It lasted but a moment, though he hoped it granted enough space to dodge. Attempting to place the melee combatants between him and the ranged combatants. There was no time to waste, onto the attack.

Kagemalum clicked its jaw, sadistically enjoying the choice of who to strike next. The male and female beastkin got lucky, as he decided to strike the human woman. Directly, at least. The cloaked figure combusted in his signature black flames, sword and all, and delivered a powerful horizontal slash. Should she still stand after that, Kagemalum would take a step forward and feign another slash, only to set his free arm in position to eject his hidden blade towards her stomach.

Ryuuji was pulling some major moves. In particular some not 'run away' but 'fuck them up' type of moves. Seeing how he attacked Kagemalum with an attack stronger than Melia's, it'd end up forming the bulk of what Kagemalum would need to defend against, with the rest's efforts becoming add-ons to his attacks.

Casting his healing magic caused the ring to break as expected (B/5 ability vs E/2 item – 3 damage overflow) as he would feel the backlash from the leftover magic that couldn't be channelled properly first destroying the catalyst itself and then entering his own body and hurting him as well (2 damage to item, 1 damage to Ryuuji).

That said, the skill had worked. It seemed like there was some life brought back to Saoirse, though the state she was in... It wasn't good.

Whilst the Area of Effect alone wasn't large, the ability to sent the buff towards multiple targets was enough to cover all allies and possibly a fair few of the green moss monsters that'd remained hidden from his sight because we learned the hard way that selective doesn't work without vision on something and will always hit rather than miss. As their first attacks had landed, the group would start to feel the results of Ryuuji's buffing, as every single aspect of their being would feel slightly enhanced.

Fenrir was able to leap toward the now-revealed target and quickly got in an attack of his own against the offender, who'd already been forced to defend/dodge or counter-attack against the orbs Ryuuji had sent his way. Now he had a hulking wolfman jumping in directly after and slashing at him as well, at the same time as the female Human warrior would be slashing at him from the other side whilst an arrow would soon fly at him stemming from the Elf. Things weren't looking all that great. Rabbit meat really was an expensive hunt this time of year, it seemed. After all, even the cat ended up joining in, giving a surprisingly punchy paw thrice in a row.

Ryuuji vs. Kagemalum
Intelligence A (6) – Component-less Casting C (4) – Ability C (4) – Targets Combo (+2) = 16
Melia Team up +2 = 18
Jastira Team-up +1 = 19
Fenrir Team-up +1 = 20
Teti Team-up +3 = 23

Kagemalum's counter-attack existed primarily by slashing back at them with his black-flamed sword, backed up by going invisible and secondarily by an extra attack with his piercer.

Kagemalum defence
Strength A (6) – Weapon B (5) – Ability C (4) – Combo Bonus (2) – Hive Elite/Undetected Bonus (1) = 17 | Falling short on 6

Although his efforts were great, the overwhelming number of attacks against him was greater. His swords managed to slash through Ryuuji's orbs before they could hit him, cancelling out those attacks altogether. He was even able to deflect the first of the Human woman's sword strikes, yet the second one would damaged his armour (B => C), after which an arrow would further ruin it (C => D), followed by the Wolfman slashing through it (D => E). The cat, having been right besides Saoirse, was the one to claw and tear through the remainder of Kagemalum's armour (E => Broken) and even managed to draw the first blood (Kagemalum's HP – Speed = A = 6 => 5).

His armour was broken, most his abilities were on cooldown, yet he was still alive and only slightly wounded. There was another thing in his benefit. With him now invisible (I'll allow it to last a bonus round to make things a tad more interesting) and the enemies grouped up near him, it would be more difficult to hit him, unless they had abilities to still target him accurately or to circumvent the need to even aim directly at him.

He'd also spot the rabbit, that was lying dead at his feet, had been resurrected. Yet she was still lying at his feet. A very dangerous position to be resurrected in for sure.

Wood Guardian
kL5r96y.jpeg

The Wood Guardian's attack against Diego came fast and with force, as Diego decided to attempt to dodge it.

Strength C = 4, Weapon D = 3, Combo bonus = 2 | 9 total.
Speed E = 2, No Light Armour = 0, Ability F = 1 | 3 total.

Normally he'd have died on the spot (yet that would be lame), yet he realised he'd be jumping back too late, as his counter-attack instead was taking the brunt of the defence whilst the attempt to dodge became a combo to it.

Strength C = 4, Weapon E = 2, Ability D = 3, Lucky 1, Blight 1 | 11 total.

The counter-attack was enough to cancel out the Wood Guardian's own attacks, as in combination with the dodging and his Lucky strike, it even managed to tear through some of the bark on his opponent (3 damage to Wood Guardian's armour). The follow-up, however, would be considerable more difficult. Having used an ability stronger than his weapon could handle (D ability on E grade weapon, 1 damage to weapon) had broken it shaft, forcing him to hold the weapon like a short-spear instead (Weapon reduced to F-grade). That said, it was still enough to pull off an F-grade ability, as he chipped through the last of the Wood Guardian's armour, breaking it altogether.

That's when Ryuuji's Orbs came flying at it... only to vanish. Whatever skill or passive ability it had used was unclear, but it seemed magic wasn't going to be particularly useful against it.

That said, the Wood Guardian seemed to panic a bit, as it knew that, with its armour gone, it might be in a tough spot. First it would [Move] to close the gap between him and Diego again. Then it would channel thorns to grow all around its weapon, making it seem a fair bit more dangerous than before.

Action 1: Move
Action 2/3: Strength C, Weapon D, Ability ?

Saoirse Desrosiers

8gBjbx8.png

Everything was pain and suffering as she tried to breath in. What the hell happened? Where in the world was she. She opened her eyes, her vision blurry. All she saw was some shaped battling it out directly above her. She'd try to get up, to roll away... to do something, yet she couldn't find the strength in her torn-up and barely resurrected body.

The apparent success of the group’s assault against the cloaked assailant just brought out Fenrir’s [Beast] and wild side out even more. To his surprise, even Teti had joined in the fight, even if he didn’t seem like someone who knew how to fight. The Wolfman stood corrected on that.

And, still bearing his fangs, he saw as the hooded miscreant attempted to disappear from their sights once more, catching the sight of his mistress being affected by Ryuuji’s healing magic. However, with the possibility of the murderer still being around, he could do little but focus on the combat that was happening. “Don’t let this bastard get away! I will try to find out where he is!” The Wolfman growled in a hurry. Such a slight could not be allowed to go unpunished.

Steeling his senses, Fenrir would attempt to pinpoint the Kagemalum’s location and already throw himself on the offensive. Three quick strikes, aiming to bring the bastard down and, hopefully, others would have an idea of where he was.

Teti

Teti had managed to just barely injure the damned monster, and it vanished again such an annoying creature. He would really need to train to get better at sensing fuckers like this. Still there wouldn't be much chance to do that if their mistress or he died. he needed to get Saoirse out of being right under where the bug man had vanished. While he was likely still right there right where he had vanished Teti couldn't be sure. Still they had just resurrected their mistress so it was best not to let her get killed again and hope that the others could deal with this cowardly bug. He could try to punch again but there was no guarantee that Teti would hit the unseen foe, he also ran the risk of getting stabbed in the back if he tried to run with the bunny, but that would mean that the bugman would be exposed.

Teti quickly bent down moving as fast as he could and scooped up Saoirse while Fenrir unleashed his blows against the unseen being. Taking Saoirse into his arms Teti got heck out of dodge and moved as far away as he could, and hopefully out of any attacks from the bug man.

1. Pick up saoirse
2. use two actions to move away from the fight carrying saoirse

Ryuuji Kamimura

There was a lot of chaos on the battlefield, enemies on multiple fronts, Ryuuji needed to keep his focus even during this, Saoirse even if not their mistress at the moment was still in danger, even after their assault, the cloaked stabber was still standing even if hurt from all the attacks, more annoying he was trying to get away from the looks of things or at the very least reposition to strike again.

Thankfully Fenrir was intent on stopping them from getting away, going to their location and attacking. This would hopefully buy Ryuuji some time to heal Saoirse further with less risk of her getting stabbed again since the attacker would hopefully need to deal with the attacks and defend instead. The fact they were still standing did speak to their power however which was somewhat concerning to Ryuuji, hopefully they wouldn’t have the fight in them much longer.

Plus Teti came in clutch, while Teti was moving with Saoirse ideally Ryuuji would use a combination of:

HEALS HERE - Componentless Magic D + Magic D + Magic Range F + Magic targets F + Healing E + Selective D + light Affinity F -D grade ability cooldown 2

Ryuuji does magic heals.

Ryuuji then readied to aim with his bow and arrow and if he had a clear shot, he fired at the cloaked figure for a team up, hoping to hit them in the chest or leg area.

He hoped that the group could hold the line on the other side.
