Realistic or Modern We'll Get Through This Together

He looked at Kira for a moment, "Umm not for a bag boy or stock boy, surely?" He scratched his head and frowned again, "Oh well, the least I can do is try right? Plus if its one of the locally owned stores I can appeal to the owner a little more, say Im taking care of my brothers and sisters. You know, something real stupid like that."

"But we are, aren't we? These guys are the closest thing we've got to family.... They really are my brothers and sisters."

"Okay then... but we really will have to figure out a real plan soon. Before we get caught again." she muttered those last parts to herself. She was already getting agitated, and they weren't even done with their first day of getting out of the orphanage. She dug her nails into her palm, telling herself that it would probably be better soon, and at least they were free.

Cassie bit her lip and turned back towards them. "It's... Worth a try." She looked at Kira, "And we will. Things'll be fine." I hope... Cassie didn't know if they will be or not. She couldn't look any of them in the eye and tell them honestly she had a gut feeling they'll get through this, and in the end all be free, but some things were better kept to herself. Cassie tried to appear optimistic on the outside. Maybe not "sally sunshine" But at least optimistic in some way. However, on the inside she knew that they had to be realistic about things. She just didn't want to drag anyone down. Cassie sighed. "Why don't we.. Head out now." She glanced at Nikki. "We'll be back in a bit." She started to exit the apartment.

Xavier smiled at Cassidy in an attempt to reassure her. "Hey now, I've only been caught a few times. Don't worry, I'll see you guys in a bit," he said and smiled again before giving a small salute to the rest of the group. Making his way out of the old apartment building and trying not to fall through any old stairs, Xavier found himself on a crowded street in no time. He smiled to himself, easily blending into the swarm of people and mentally sorting through who would make a good target and who wouldn't. 'Lets get this show on the road,' he thought to himself and slipped his hand into a youngish looking business man's pocket, doing his "thing" as Tommy had put it.

Xavier's words "I've only been caught a few times." lingered on Cassie, and she hoped he would be careful. She crept down the apartment building quietly hoping the others were following. She didn't like having to be the one in the lead right now, and secretly hoped that they didn't consider her that way. She knew she may be capable, but she most certainly did not sign up for it.

"So, where should we go first to get food?" asked Kira. She could already feel her stomach making complaints, and she'd only realized it once they'd gone out the door. And being thin in the first place wasn't helping either. Her stomach growled again, and Kira blushed in embarrassment.

Cassie glanced at Kira reassuringly then looked ahead. "We're just going to go to the grocery store..." She thought for a moment. "Hopefully the story of "ten orphans escaping, keep an eye out for them" hasn't gotten out yet." She exited the apartment building and started walking through the crowd of people, but was sure to keep by their group.

Issac was nowhere to be seen of course, the spot where he slept was empty. He was in an empty room on the opposite side of this floor of the apartment. He had chosen this room because it was nice and secluded, and the windows had a pretty decent view. He sat down in the corner, next to the large windows, reading. He had been this way for hours, waking up far before anyone else, heading off somewhere, and reading. It was his normal thing, something he did at the orphanage that had followed him here. He didn't know the other orphans very well, and didn't particularly want to either. The characters of his books were good enough for him.

His stomach rumbled, and he sighed, putting a piece of scrap paper into his book to mark his page, before setting it down and getting up. He left his room, walking down the corridors towards where everyone else slept. He'd look around from there to find some food. Hopefully he wouldn't have to talk to anyone while he did so. He entered the room, looking around.

Tomm started to whistle as they walked down the street, "So are you making a list of what we need?" Tommy looked at Cassie as they walked. "Because my list consists of eggs, bacon, and a skillet... And bread." he kept an eye out for any TVs in shop windows, or any newspaper dispensers. "I was thinking maybe we should keep going? Like to a different city?" He looked down to Kira, then the Cassie to see their thoughts.

"We might need some canned goods, too. You know, for long-time use." Kira suggested. She tightened her duffel bag that consisted of only the few pair of clothes that she could bring from the orphanage, a small notebook, a few books, and a pen. She held the bag in front of her protectively. No use getting robbed when you already have barely anything with you.

"Oh that's a good point, we can get canned fruits and stuff." He smiled at Kira and looked at her duffle bag, "you're not planning on taking anything right? We should be able to pay for everything."

Xavier stepped out of the crowd and into an alley, his pockets holding a bunch of bills with different historical figures on them and a few wallets he wasn't able to slip back to the original owners. Making sure he was out of sight from the street, Xavier flipped through the money to make it neat then turned his attention to the wallets. There wasn't much in those, a bunch of plastic cards that they wouldn't be able to use and IDs. Those they definitely couldn't use or even have on them. Stashing the money in his pockets, Xavier tossed the wallets in a near by dumpster and slipped back into the streets. After finding the 5th street market, he sat on a bench outside the store and pulled out an old cell phone. It didn't work and probably never would, but it made for a good prop if anyone asked why he was sitting outside a store.

Vinaya, on the first morning in her life that she'd slept outside of an orphanage, woke up woefully late. Once she realized this, she immediately sat up and looked around a more or less empty room. Had something gone wrong already? Though this thought occurred to her, Vinaya was not the type to worry or jump to conclusions. Just because this living arrangement was an entirely new experience, for her at least, that didn't mean that she'd be acting any differently than she normally did. After a few moments of quiet thought she turned to the doorway, where she saw Isaac. "Do you know where the others went?" she asked in lieu of a greeting. It didn't really occur to her to greet him.

Issac turned, looking at her. "Nope." He responded, inwardly sighing. Well, there goes not having to talk to anyone. He thought to himself, before continuing his search for food. He soon realized however, that there was no food to be found, so he came back over to Vinaya. "Do you know where any food is?" He asked, his stomach rumbling in emphasis. She probably doesn't know either, seeing as she has just woken up. Maybe that's where the others are, going to find food. Issac thought to himself.

At his response Vinaya shrugged and swung her feet over the side of the cot, which was made easier by the lack of a blanket. She had a worn red backpack stuffed under her bed filled with clean clothes for a few days, as well as a toothbrush and that was it. First things first she reached for this bag to dig out an outfit for the day and her toothbrush; regardless of where the others had gone off to, it was a good idea to get ready for the day nonetheless. As she decided on a skirt and top she paid Isaac little mind until he asked her a question, at which point she paused but didn't look up. "No," she said. She hadn't even thought about food yet this morning, which was foolish of her. Perhaps that's why most everyone had already left. "Maybe the others went grocery shopping," she suggested as she settled on her clothing for the day. "I'm going to go change and wash up. I'll be in the bathroom if you need me." With that she left for the bathroom, idly wondering if taking a shower (assuming such accommodations existed) was worth the risk.

Issac nodded, before turning around and going right back where he came, as there is no food here. He made sure no one was watching first, before he left the room. He navigated the narrow corridors, before returning to his "Room", and sitting by the broken window again, picking up his book and finding the page he left off on. He started reading again, waiting until the others returned.

He had reached a pretty interesting part of his book, and was entirely engrossed, not paying attention to anything around him.

Cassie nodded in agreement as the others talked about what they may need. She thought for a moment, "Once we get more money, we might want to get some extra clothes, and soap and stuff to keep everyone... Happy." She knew it wasn't the most important thing in the world, but it would still be nice. "Also..." She thought about what Tommy said and to going to a different city. "Yeah, we might want to get out of here, and the sooner the better. I don't know where exactly you guys want to go, or how we get there, but I guess those are questions for later." She sighed softly and saw the grocery store just a few more buildings up the street. She thought she saw Xavier but wasn't for sure.

"Alright so... We have 50 bucks right?" He took 25 bucks and gave it to Kira, "grab hygiene stuff, like soaps, shampoo toothpaste and tooth brushes, stuff like that plus we'll have what Xavier gets us... Then Cassidy and I can grab food." He looked at her for a moment, "or you two can switch but I definitely shouldn't get hygiene products..." He smiled a little and looked over, "Is that him? When did he get a phone?"

Xavier glanced up when he heard a group of people aproaching and waved to the rest of the kids from the orphanage. He got up, pocketing the dead phone and smiling as he walked over to the group. "I 'did my thing' as you so kindly put it Tommy," he joked, digging around in his pocket and handing the older boy the money. "Here you go. That should last for a while," he said as he looked at the stack, figuring there had to be enough cash there for all of them.

He whistled and counted, then stopped and frowned, "is this.. Uh... 200?" He looked at the others. There was close to $350, Tommy was clearly struggling to count the smaller bills. He blushed a little, knowing he was wrong he just handed the cash the Cassie. "Nice one Einstein." He sighed and opened the door into the grocery for the others, looking around for the manager as he held the door.

Cassidy looked at Xavier as Tommy gave her the money, and glanced at the pile of cash. "You weren't kidding when you said you could get money. I just hope you were careful." She counted and it was about 350. "We have $400 then..." After heading inside she glanced at Tommy, Kira, and Adam. "Is everyone okay with what they're getting? Kira hygiene products, Adam if you want, you can go with her, or else find some extra stuff you think we need. Somebody please get toilet paper." She looked at Xavier, "If you think of anything to get, then feel free to buy it." She thought more, "We need blankets and stuff like that too. Tommy and I can handle the food." She split the money between all of them, "You guys please just get the necessities first... Don't splurge for personal stuff yet..." She hoped they wouldn't accuse her of being bossy, but she was just being logical.

Aspen strolled through the silent alleyway, on his way back to the apartment everyone else was hopefully still in. A faint feeling of lonelines had crept up on him so he wanted to get back to the others soon. He'd left on an early morning walk because he couldn't sleep. He slipped away just before sunrise to try to catch a glimpse of the beautiful pink and golden colours in the sky. Whenever his mother was home they would watch both the sunset and sunrise together, so he found them soothingly familiar. But she wasn't around often, so it was special to him, comforting. The excitement of being free, finally, and the small worry lurking in the back of his mind about how to keep his friends together and safe kept him awake almost all night.

Slipping through the door and heading to where he could faintly hear the others talking, he wondered if they even noticed his disappearance. He felt out of place here, out in the world on their own. It was all new and different and a little bit scary, he admitted. But he resolved to keep an eye on everyone.

Tommy smiled at Cassie, "let's go?" He grabbed one of the carts and walked with her toward the food. "What do you like to eat?"

"Nice! We didn't completely mess this up!"

"I love hamburgers, I could eat those for the rest of my life and be happy!"

Cassie smiled and nodded, "Okay then we can get hamburger stuff, eggs, bacon, canned meals. Im not very picky I just want to get stuff that can last us a while." She walked with him to the food aisle and started to look at some of the groceries. "We should get some chips to snack on too." She wished she knew what everyone liked, but as she said before, they'd just have to take it or leave it.

Nicolette had sat silently, strumming a few tunes on her guitar as she listened to others talk. She started on another one and glanced over, seeing aspen slip through the door. She looked down at her fingers as she mentally argued with herself. God I hope he talks to me" no no no. You'll just make a fool of yourself as always. Deciding to just go with staying silent, she took a silent, deep breath and kept playing.
