"Welcome To The Real World Baby."
Aiden

Basic Info A roleplay about two unlikely acquaintances, possibly more? A cold demon going by the name Aiden, and ambitious country-born hipster, Ryker! Let their adventure commence!

<3 Aw, I love how you named it, that's great! Would you like me to start or would you like to? <:

Thanks, I thought it'd be a cool reference to your character! If you don't mind, would you start? ^w^

I love it, and nope, I don't mind at all!

Aiden let out a small breath, smoke mixed into it as it hit the cold air making a mist that eventually floated off into evaporation. He had to wait till he was done to get into the cafe, 'No Smoking' rule and all that. He'd been out there for a while though, taking the cylinder out of his mouth before he ground it against his skin, putting it out. He'd done it multiple times before, it never left a mark. That said he slipped into the cafe, missing the first start of the snowfall. He hated winter, to be honest, he was much more of a summer guy. Demons like it warm, Hell didn't freeze over mind you. He looked up in time, however, to see the familiar blonde waitress smile at him and seat him at his regular seat in the back, a small table near the fireplace.

Ryker had been strolling through the streets, enjoying the change of scenery from the mountains and forests he was used to. It had just started snowing and he smiled as a flake hit his cheek. Though he didn't mind the weather, he hadn't worn a heavy coat and chills were running through him. This being said, he ventured into a nearby cafe, hoping to get some hot cocoa or tea of some sort to warm himself up. He sat himself down, resting his satchel on the seat beside him, before waiting to be given a menu or a waiter to approach him. He noticed a waitress seat a male not too far from where he was sitting and observed the two. Did they know each other? It seemed like it, but who knows?

A waiter had soon come to him, asking what he'd like to have. Giving a polite smile, he nodded in acknowledgment and replied, "I'd like some hot chocolate, please. Thank you.". The man walked away to get his order and Ryker waited patiently, enjoying the heat that radiated from the fireplace located a few feet away from his small table fit for two.

Aiden leaned his head back, staring up at the ceiling. He was a regular, that was true enough, but he was here almost everyday in the winter and thus he didn't need to tell the waitress what he wanted. She knew him, more than he liked, as if they were friends. They most certainly were not, at least not to Aiden. When she came back, he wasn't surprised with her speed, at this point they already had his order ready. Aiden wouldn't be surprised if that was because Elizabeth, the waitress, had memorized the times that he came. He did come around the same time each time. She set down his cheese cake and hot chocolate, different though, the drink that was. Chocolate shavings were sprinkled around the cup with whip-cream. He didn't remember ordering that, so when he looked up in question Liz just smiled "It's almost Christmas, lighten up!" She ruffled his hair, he recoiled, leaning to the right and grunting in displeasure, causing the blonde to chuckle and hurry off to help someone else. Fixing his hair, or at least trying, he brought a bite of cheese cake to his mouth.

Ryker was gazing at the drink in front of him in awe. He'd never seen hot chocolate as decorated and fancy as the once in front of him. Sure, it wasn't really that much to any normal person, but he wasn't one to get out often. He heard laughter from where the waitress and guy were and trued to see the blonde happily walking away while the raven haired male growled slightly and tried to fix his hair. They seemed pretty close, maybe he'd be able to make friends soon enough. His first year in college had just started after all. Sipping on his chocolate drink, Ryker sighed in content and took out his phone to check his texts. Sure enough, his inbox was... empty. Wow, he sure was a busy person. His sister was probably with her boyfriend and who knows what his dad was doing. Oh well, he needed to focus on what he was going to do over the Christmas break. He didn't have any homework, so that left him to explore the city. He was completely fine with that fact, but without someone to enjoy the holiday with there wasn't much fun to be had.

Shaking his head, Ryker went back to finishing his cup of cocoa while doodling on his napkin that came with the drink. He often did that, getting lost in his own mind and not noticing anything around him. He was a very easily distracted person, and had tons of little papers filled with drawings of cartoons. Some were people, but more often then not he drew cute little creatures. That's just how he used his past time, and he loved every moment of it.

Aiden looked around, eyes searching the people that sat in the cafe. Everything was the same, despite the decorations, everyone was the same...Well, everyone but one. He watched the boy, cocking his head, the adverted his eyes elsewhere. The guy didn't even smell like he was from the city, all city people had that mixed smell, pollution, often times smoke. He smelled faintly of it, proving he hadn't been here long. Must have moved here, Aiden wouldn't be surprised. People moved here all the time, but most of the time he could determine where they'd come from. Uptown, downtown, another city, subdivision, the usual places. The other didn't carry any scent of any building crowded area. The only area Aiden was every used to. He downed his drink before he finished his cheese cakes, but he'd finished that soon after. Sliding the plate aside he turned and stared into the fire place, just watching it burn before he got up and sat down at a bench near it.

The fireplace had four benches placed around it, two were taken by a group of friends. Aiden didn't pay any attention to them, just stared into the fire. It was nice, very nice, and warm. He missed the summer, the sun, now it was all shrouded by clouds and cold winds. Soon there'd be a white blanket covering everything and ice all over the place. If there was one bane about winter, it was slipping on the ice. Aiden's biggest problem, he always slipped on something, but it was mostly ice. Distasteful.

Ryker had a faint feeling of being watched, but shrugged it off. He was too busy not noticing to notice, you know? He did finish doodling soon and noticed that the guy from before was gone. Not really paying mind to the absence, Ryker moved himself closer to the fire on the only empty bench left. He liked gazing into flames, he could always make out little images in them and sort of made it into a little game. Instead of identifying clouds by shape, he did so with fire. It led to some pretty interesting stories to pop into his mind based on what he thought he saw, but he'd sometimes not really see anything and quickly become uninterested. Leaning forward in his seat, he started to search the various reds and oranges for pictures so he wouldn't be left to do nothing but leave since the snow had started to fall pretty hard outside and he had no intentions of venturing out into it.

Aiden blinked, the foreign smell getting stronger- it forced him to turn his head. Well, he turned it slightly, not wanting to be noticed, he saw the faintly familiar face. Ah yes, he was leaning towards the fire, it made Aiden smirk just a little...Only for mischievous reasons. He brought his hand up and cracked his index finger, the fire seemed to grow and blow out of the fireplace, almost licking the boy's face. The two benches with the friends seemed to laugh and coo at the sudden burst of flames, which went straight back to normal right after. It was, to say the least, fun to be inhuman. You could do things others couldn't, such as almost burn a guy's face off. It wasn't being mean, it was being a jokester, there was a difference right? Definitely. It was in Aiden's nature, he couldn't help it. Don't give him the opportunity and he wouldn't do it. The guy was just asking for it, honestly, don't lean in so close. It could get...Dangerous.

Ryker blinked in confusion as to what had just happened. It certainly was strange, and his face felt very warm now, but he was almost thankful for the heat since his cheeks really were freezing despite having drank the hot chocolate. he heard others laugh at him, and he let out a hearty chuckle as well. Sure, he was sort of embarrassed for foolishly leaning in so close, but he sort of wished he could have seen his face just then. Sitting back and settling down, Ryker glanced over to see the man from before, sitting in the bench just next to his. So he didn't leave after all, well he didn't blame him. He was probably also trying to delay having to walk in the blistering weather. Ryker would much rather be in his bed, snuggling into his covers and watching movies at that moment. He looked over again and locked eyes with the guy next to him. He smiled lightly and did a small wave before turning back towards the fire. He really needed someone to talk to, but it seems today wasn't the day for making friends.

Aiden blinked, making a small, confused, pathetic half wave back before playing with his bangs. He brushed them out of his face before looking the other way, glancing out the window, looked like a bloody blizzard out there. He frowned, he really, really didn't want to walk home in that. His home wasn't far, he lived in a building that housed apartments above a lounge. Oh, what was it called again? B lounge? Yes, there was a diner connected to it, Barry Hill, and so it was called a B lounge. Despite the fact he could take the elevator downstairs and eat just as well as he could here, Aiden still took the time out of his day to go and order here. It was comforting, he was used to here, he knew the locals, the commons, the regulars, whatever you would like to call them. It was like sitting in a lunchroom cafeteria, everyone sat where they sat the first day. Thus, Aiden knew where everyone sat and if someone was out of order. It was like a family that didn't notice you, at least that's how he thought about it, and that why it was so much more comfortable than that place full of strangers- despite living with them all...Well, close to it, living around them all.

Ryker chuckled at the half wave he received and sighed to himself. What was he going to do after this? Stalk around town? Too creepy... Go home and binge watch Netflix? What a sad, lonely soul he would become, that won't work. He lived in a dorm nearby full of other boys who always had their girlfriends, and sometimes boyfriends, over to hang out with. He definitely didn't want to be there for all of that lovey dovey holiday couple stuff that was undoubtedly going on. He was basically a stray at the moment, nowhere to go and nothing to do. He couldn't loiter in the cafe all day, he was pretty sure the place had a rule against it anyways. Most places had a no loitering rule where he was from. Since it was a tiny town and no one had anything to do, they'd end up hanging out in parking lots and outside of random houses doing random stuff to pass time with. He hadn't many friends back then either, but he had a few. They were all lively so they probably were out doing something with new friends right then. now he sounded like a pessimistic loner, ugh. How could people live like this, always alone and unnoticed? Sure, he's used to it in some cases, but being the creative lad he was, if he didn't engage in conversation from time to time he'd go insane. Though, he did question his own sanity time to time, but who didn't?

"Aiiiiden." The boy blinked, suddenly feeling something cover his eyes, a single hand "I'd rather you not poke my eyes out thanks." He said, hearing the blonde giggle, he didn't need to guess who it was. She was the only one who would touch him so freely, only one who didn't fear that he would bite their hand off. He felt like biting her's off to be honest "Here here!" She said, handing over a single kiss chocolate, Aiden arched a brow, shrugged, then popped it in his mouth "Thanks." He muttered, she made a single cheerful noise "So what are you doing for Christmas?" She asked, he shrugged, again "I don't know, probably lounge around." He said, Li frowned "Alone? That's so sad, no one should be alone on Christmas, don't do that! You should come down here! Oh, oh, we're having a party for people like you. Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that, just, you know- people who don't have anything else to do. You should come." She said, again, playfully punching his shoulder "If I say yes will you refrain from nagging me about it for the weeks to come until Christmas?" He asked, Liz lit right up...Like a Christmas tree "Yes!" She said, pouring out enthusiasm "Alright. Fine then." He shrugged, Liz ruffled his head and hurried off, Aiden looked more than displeased. Not again...

Ryker piped up at hearing a rather loud voice beside him. He secretly listened into their conversation. A party, huh? That sounds like fun, he had nothing else to do, but if he ended up coming to the party then it would be obvious that he overheard the conversation and if he was found out he would be seen as some creepy stalker dude. Yeah, maybe he shouldn't go, but it sounded so much more fun than what he was going to do, which was nothing so... Yeah. He was surprised that the grumpy male had agreed to go, but he was happy for him. At least he now had plans for the holidays. He was unsure what to do after that. He was desperate for something to do, but the only person who seemed worth talking to obviously didn't want to talk to anyone, much less Ryker. Perhaps it was worth a shot anyways? No, most definitely not, he'd get shot down for sure. The guy didn't seem in the mood for idle chat, just look at the scowl. It was pretty funny though. Ryker gave a light chuckle to himself, still turned towards the fireplace. It seemed as if a lot of people had left as the snow started falling more rapidly so they weren't snowed in, but now all to be seen outside was white. He should have left when it was a light flurry. Great.

Aiden glanced back outside "Oh hell." He groaned, rubbing his head, before running his hand through his hair "Gonna be stuck here." He mumbled, god what was he going to do for the next, what? Hour or so? At least until the snow stopped and someone came in to shovel it all back. He'd probably be stuck listening to the group of friends laughing and making dirty jokes, immature, but then again he was no better. He looked over at the friends, first bench, second bench, third- which just consisted of that new guy sitting alone. Aiden blinked. Should he? He was just curious...He really wanted to know though, so he guessed it was worth it "New here?" He asked, making anything but eye contact with Ryker, he was bad at that. On the brighter side it was easier to tell he was talking to him. He just wanted to know where he was from, he smelled off, obviously he wasn't from a city at any point in time. Rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, he tugged at the side of his hair. He was never good at conversation, or at least conversation he started. It usually got awkward, somehow some way. He was better when someone else started it, but Liz was the only one who did that. Oh well.

Ryker blinked at nearly jumped at hearing a voice speak. He looked around to make sure it was him who Aiden was talking to. After confirming that it was in fact, him who he was talking to, he turned towards him and nodded. "Yeah, I'm actually from North Carolina. Is it that obvious?" He laughed out, surprised that he was found out so easily. He could tell that Aiden wasn't comfortable with conversing, but he was glad that he finally had someone to talk to. He looked over the male, taking in his features. He was cool looking, he'd give him that. Compared to him, Ryker looked like some prep trying to go indie. Maybe it was really obvious that he wasn't from there. He noticed Aiden tugging on his hair and thought it was pretty cute, oh wow that was a queer thing to think. Not that he had anything against that, it's just that he only recently found out he may have attraction to those of the same sex as him and he was still trying to cope with it.

Aiden shrugged, glancing back over at the other, he couldn't tell him he smelled different that was...Weird. He cleared his throat "Just a little, you look a bit out of place." That sounded better, more reasonable, either way, to end up in a big city. What did people call this place? Aiden was never up with these states and cites, all the capitals. This was all things the mundanes knew by heart, or most of them did, but Aiden wasn't, or rather didn't have the interest. NYC, that's what he heard most people call this place. He'd not a clue what that meant, what it stood for to be exact, but that was whatever. He would have to look for North Carolina later...Not because it mattered or anything. Again curiosity. Really. He tucked the hair he'd been messing with behind his ear before doing his best to look over at the other. That was good for conversations right? So long as his the tip of his ears didn't turn red again, they did that when he was nervous.

"Hah, yeah I guess you're right. Fashion never was something I really understood anyways." He replied incredulously as he scratched the back of his head. This guy sure seemed like a sharp and quick witted one, Ryker doubted that he could ever match up to his standards, but he'd keep this conversation going as long as he could. "Looks like we'll be stuck here for a while. A cool breeze every now and then I don't mind, but when it gets to be a blizzard it's just ridiculous." He stated, not thinking about the possibility that his new acquaintance might actually be fond of the weather. From his body language, it seemed like a different story, but one could never be too sure. Realizing that his satchel had been on his lap the whole time, not wanting to take up extra space in case someone had wanted to take a seat, Ryker moved it so that it was safely under his seat before sitting back up and watching the other for a reply.

"Tch, this? Hate winter, it feels like Hell is freezing over." He groaned, looking outside, unconsciously making that side comment that could give someone a clue as to what he was, but no one would ever think that. Demons, some people laughed, other's threw holy water at you, and then there were those who like to try and run you over in the car...Aiden hated those ones "I'd give it a half an hour to an hour before it stops." Aiden said, watching out the window before scooting off to the floor and leaning back against the bench before staring up at the ceiling. Man, this was going to be painful. Not the talking, just the waiting, he was never a patient person to be honest. He hated waiting for anything, which was something that Liz must have learned considering she'd learned to have his order ready when he got here. Smart child. Cracking his neck he looked back over to the side, watching the friends dare each other to see how long each of them could stick their hand in the fire longest. Idiots. He then returned his attention to Ryker.

Ryker laughed wholeheartedly at Aiden's comment. This guy was pretty funny. "If so, then I hope whatever demons are stuck in that blizzard find shelter or they'd surely be done for." He said, halfway being truthful. He wasn't exactly a full believer in the supernatural, but he liked to keep an open mind. If he was demon, he'd definitely hate to be caught out in the snow and just that thought even being a human was enough for him not to wish that on any person. "Yeah, I don't doubt that we'll be stuck here for a while." He added, agreeing with the other male. He heard some people playing by the fire and watched them in amusement. They'd surely get their selves killed with a spirit like that. Turning around, he noticed Aiden on the ground, leaning back onto the bench in boredom. In that moment, Ryker realized he hadn't even introduced himself yet and felt pretty stupid. "Ah, I haven't introduced myself yet! I'm Ryker Jones by the way. Nice to meet you." He greeted, leaning down towards him and extending his hand to Aiden in a friendly manner. Based on this man's personality, he might as well be doing the same thing as those friends were. Extending out his hand to be nicked by a flame.

Aiden looked down at the other's hand, staring at it for a while, one might've expected him to nail it. He almost looked like a cat that stared at it's prey before biting it's head off, but surprisingly enough he looked the other way as he shook the other's hand "Aiden Foul and, for the record, any demon to get caught in the snow would be done for. Their natural excessive body heat would melt the snow around them, but they would be displeased you could say." He said, retracting his hand from the shake before bringing a knee up and setting his arm on it. He waited, fainlty eagerly, for the other's reply. Talking about his species and those that revolved or somewhat related to them it always got him in a rather rowdy mood. He loved to argue, because his word was gold, other's weren't. He loved to relish in the fact that he was right and anyone else was wrong...His two favorite activities. Arguing and winning. Sticking his hands back in his coat pockets he brought on up to scratch under his neck before chewing on the corner of his lip, every now and then glancing over at the other. He didn't do eye contact, but the glancing would have to fit for now. He felt uncomfortable if he stared for too long or looked him in the eyes.

Ryker was pleased to find Aiden accepting the hand shake while he listened intently to what he was saying. He nodded to show interest and understanding before making a comment of his own. "Wow, I'll be sure to remember that. I guess I sort of assumed they had the same body heat as humans. Now that I think about it, it would strange for them to not have a really hot heat radiating off of them. So you believe in them, or do you just have an interest? I'd like to say that they exist, to be honest. There's so much that we don't know about the world that it's almost unrealistic to not think there was a possibility of the supernatural living among us." He said, joining Aiden on the floor and placing his hands behind his head to keep himself steady. He looked at the fire before flickering his eyes back at the male beside him. He surely was interesting, maybe he could befriend him somehow before they took their leave to get back to their own homes before another blizzard came and they got stuck in the cafe for another hour or so.

Aiden arched a brow "It's in their genes, I would say, a way to adapt to where they're from. Think of it like an accent, differs from where you're from. You could say I have a fascination. I think you could say they exist, but that depends on who you're talking to...which you should be careful with because if you say that they might do one out of three things and two of them isn't the most fun thing in the world." Aiden said, talking off experience. He was more or less growing in a slightly better mood, it was easy to catch flickers of how casual he could be but it was almost impossible to catch a full on look on how he actually was. There was a definite difference and from what anyone could tell you, no one had accomplished the second. There were a lot of things no one had done. No one had seen Aiden for what he really was, who he really was, no one had been inside his apartment, no one knew what he did on his spare time, and no one knew what his bedroom looked like. That last one was probably suicide, to be caught in there that is.

Ryker listened, intrigued by the information being fed to him. It all made sense and was pretty rational. "I understand, I've had a few rough encounters before with some people who didn't like my views. You seemed reasonable enough to be honest with though." He admitted, giving a slight shrug. He was glad that Aiden seemed to be getting more comfortable and less on edge then he was before. "You seem to be a normal visitor of this cafe. Are you and that waitress friends?" Ryker asked, genuinely curious. He found it rather comical for someone like Aiden to be friends with the boisterous blonde from before. He was actually pretty surprised that she hadn't popped in for a surprise visit yet, but he guessed that sine Aiden agreed to go to the party she kept her promise to leave him be. He couldn't say that out loud of course, or he'd be found out for listening in on their conversation which most people did not appreciate.
