Fandom Welcome To Hogwarts

"Joe" Michael greeted with a smirk. "Finally making friends this year, are we?" He scoffed, earning a few laughs from the other two. "Then again, I suppose someone should have the decency to pity you enough..."

Leslie forced a polite smile "If you'll excuse us, we'd like ta get by, thanks," Though she could not hide the edge to her voice

"Yes sir" he looked down at his feet "no one could like me...I'm pathetic and feeble"

The incredulous look in Leslie's eyes would have been comical has her face not turned red with fury. Her gaze flickered between Michael and Joe before finally resting on the latter. "So you're jus' gonna let him rip on you like that?" She asked, meanwhile Michael merely laughed and shook his head.

"Well that's all he's good for. He's a regular doormat; something for me to step on and wipe my feet as I walk by" He smirked. "It's sad really. But if you'll excuse me, I'd like to use my doormat please" His gaze turned from her to Joe, antagonizingly mussing his hair "We'll have a fun year, you and me"

"Hey!" Elena said, fuming. Her hands were gripped in tight fists, her right around her wand, and her left itching to punch the nearest person in the face. "Why don't you back off," she spat at Michael, Ryan and James as she glared. Her feet carried her into the hall until she stood in front of Joe. "Or you could stay and I'll make you back off," she continued smirking in their direction.

Not to worry, mudblood” He smirked. “The doormat and I have had our fun” He and his friends chuckled at Michael’s newfound name for Joe.

“Oh, you think you’re funny?” Said Leslie, “How ‘bout I take this wand and stick it up you’re arse? That’ll be a good laugh, won’t it?”

“Joe, tell your little ginger guard dog to sit. I don’t like kicking puppies, but I will if I have to.” Came his smug reply. “Well, I’m off. Got bigger fish to fry” He mussed their hair one more time before pushing through them to get by, followed by his two mates, still snickering as they left. There was the smallest of scowls on Leslie’s face as she turned toward Joe.

“What was that?” She asked. “You couldn’t say one word in yer own defense.” She hadn’t raised her voice, but she was quite livid. Joe’s passivity had unnerved her.

"No" he said simply "I don't" he turned to Elena, a smile appearing on his face as he looked at her for the first time since last year "hey"

"Hey," she said softly in reply. "Are you okay Joey?" she asked as she looked over at him with tears in her eyes. Although she'd never said it out loud, the name 'Mudblood' was still a sore spot for her. She blinked them away quickly and smiled at him.

"wha's their problem with you anyways?" She asked. Leslie, being a year younger, hadn't run into Michael in his friends until she'd met Joe

He ignored her question and looked at Elena, just smiling "you don't have to stand up for me"

Elena shrugged and shifted her gaze from Joey to Leslie and back. "I always do, don't I?" she asked rhetorically before turning to the girl. "Hi, I'm Elena," she said with a gentle smile as she shifted from foot to foot.

"That's not the point" he blushed and looked down "whether you do and you have to is completely different things"

Elena nodded in response to Leslie's question. "It's nice to meet you Leslie, what year are you in?" she said softly before turning back to her best friend. "Of course I have to. What kind of best friend would I be if I didn't?" she said giving him a wide and teasing grin.

"Fifth" She replied. "Have you two been friends for a while, then?" She asked, noticing how close they were.

He looked down at the floor "I wouldn't know" he blushed again "you're the expert on other people, remember?"

Elena nodded and smiled brightly. "Since first year," she said with a smile. "We met on the train, but we were put into separate houses," her smile faltered a little as she spoke, but she continued to recount the story. "Didn't stop us though, he's my best friend."

"Did I say I was?" She responded to Joe, still slightly irked , though she supposed she shouldn't blame him. It wasn't his fault he didn't do exactly as she thought he should have done. She turned back to Elena. "What houses?"

"Me too" She said "Gryffindor, I mean. But Hufflepuff has its strengths" She assured. "I think next to Gryffindor, Hufflepuff may be my favorite.

He didn't look at her, still staring at the floor "can we go sit with you Elena?" He looked at her briefly "I've had a long day"

"Sure thing," she said stepping back into the train car and sitting back down in her seat. She lifted her book to make room and smiled at the other two. "I wish I was a Hufflepuff sometimes. Valuing hard work, patience, loyalty and justice," she said as she smiled over at Joe.

He put his rucksack on the bag rack and sat down next to Elena, his hand brushing hers and his face turned crimson as he edged away slightly

Elena grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers, squeezing his hand in support. "So Leslie," Elena said with a smile. "How did you meet Joe?" she asked curiously, looking between them kindly as she went to release his hand.
