[Weapons of the Gods] Wisdom of the Wulin Sage

I went to Stevenage comic shop today and asked if they had any Weapons of the gods comics in stock. Apparently they are no longer being printed :(

No needs to read it. Frankly if you want some good inspirations for it, and it's made by the same author as Weapons of the Gods just go for Storm Riders . There is also the more recent Dragon Tiger Gate inspired from the same author.

Dvd a little hard to find but well it can be bought online without too much hassle:

I remember seeing one of the Dragon Tiger Gate movies with Donnie Yen, Golden Bells Kung fu is in there iirc, pretty cool stuff.

Lol no I got interested in the comic when reading about it and so I wanted to get a copy for myself. The guy at the comic shop gave me an ISBN and I brought the 11th edition of The Darkness :D

Nice, by the way, if some people wants to take some Entangled destiny (like linking yourself to a weapon/organization/npc) with their characters feel free to do so.

I'd rather not involve Void Treasures if possible. Nearly everything else is fair game, even if some of the rest could be potentially very dangerous (ex: Three Powers Sage).

You know, I'm a bit confused regarding all the lore, for Kung Fu lore you need to spend the 5/10/15 DP (for common, uncommon and rare) to know the basics of the style, and then the techniques separately, so I could technically buy 3 different kung fu lores and later on learn their techniques right?

Now, for certain lores at the end of the description there's always some kind of add ons or discounts, for example my Dragon Palms kung fu says 5 Fortune, 1 Victory, 5 Hunted (-5), what do these numbers mean exactly? do you add/subtract them to the cost of Destiny to gain their effects?

As for entangled destiny, I bought one for Romance, to portray my character's childhood crush, do I need anything else to have the entangled destiny, or would that suffice?

Midori: Entangled Destiny simply means that you share fate/destiny with something. For example, if someone take entangled destiny/fortune with Tiger Soul, you essentially guarantee that in your story, you will come across Tiger soul, as it is your fate/destiny so to speak.

Lord-Leafar: Lore is essentially the knowledge of the style , see it mostly as a Gateway cost, like most of the other lores. Now this connects to your other question, by buying the Gateway cost for example of Dragon Palms Kung Fu, now you can have access to all these sides stuffs, such as Hunted being discounted (if related to the following lore), because remember disadvantages give you destiny points, so yeah later on during the game, you can buy more disadvantages, so you get more destiny points during a session. Fortune 5 in dragon palms basically make you a remnant member of the five heavenly tower plan and give you for free affiliation 3 (five heavenly tower clan), +5 modifiers to study lores related to the five heavenly tower clan. A lot of styles do come with some of those bonuses mostly in uncommon styles, like fists of Iron , you can buy the robust advantage for 3 points instead of 8 points.

The entangled destiny, this is fine. I just said entangled destiny, it can be named something else in some cases. There are of course many other stuffs that you can buy around it, such as courtship or I forget what's the name of the lore, which gives protection to a significant other npc.

Ok, so in this case, to get the Lore of Dragon Palms I need to spend 10DP because it's an uncommon style (not counting techniques costs). Now, by adding 5DP (15 total) I get the 3pt affiliation benefit right? Additionally I got Hunted as one of my disadvantages, normally that just gives me 1 extra DP, is that still the same?

Well if you want to do that of course the fortune 5, it associates you directly with the clan, might need to tweak your backstory a bit maybe.

For the case of Hunted, it doesn't matter much like they say if it is your first or second disadvantage because at character creation, disadvantages don't cost anything and you start with only two of them. It should be noted that disadvantages and advantages usually cannot be bought in game or very rarely (up to my discretion essentially) so some of these styles essentially guarantee some access to stuffs that might not happen in game. A way to look at it, you could decide to buy Hunted later with destiny points, because I mean unless you have been running around using dragon palms kung fu like a mad man, why did they even start hunting you?

Ohh ok, so basically this Destiny hunted thing allows you to buy the disadvantage later on during game, got it, in that case I'll make some adjustments then, because I don't see Xiang-Long having used his kung fu that long to get enough attention from the clans.

As for buying Disadvantages in game, how does that work? Do you gain 1 DP back?

Also, do you know if there's like a resource list of the possible Lores you can acquire? Going through the book in search of useful Lore can be hard when you have all this fluff and fiction that lasts many many pages.

That's the problem the entire book, is basically full of lores. They have lores ranging from how you treat your children, sexuality, to the story of kung fu, weapons of the gods, some lores granting you access to magic, (can only be taken by Scholars at rank 5, courtier at rank 4 and warrior at rank 3) , they have a list of lores on the chargen summary but well, it doesn't help much since unless you read them, you have basically no idea in what they are related to.

The short list, look at the recommended lores/destinies for warrior to avoid going through the whole list. P.31 in the book for the recommended lore for the Warrior and read through each of them.

p. 54 in the book lists all the lores, but again you will need to read them.

and almost forgot disadvantages give you 1 dp when the situation comes up in a session, it can happen multiple times but I would still limit how much dp you will get a session (in that case a thread) so for example someone who takes being cowardly doesnt just abuse it to stack dp. You can still roleplay it of course but after certain point you would have reached your destiny point limit.

Oh hey, I can do that, right? Because if Ju discovers the Heavens Crystal that means basically everyone is set up for life.

I wouldn't let her discover until the very end, mind otherwise it might be kinda pointless. Unless she discovers it at the beginning but then has to go into hiding because so many people want to kill her.

Yes, you can associate with anything. Like I say, the Lores are literally there to customize your character. Of course entangling destiny just mean that you will encounter Heaven Crystal now under what circumstances is everyone guess. Tho, obtaining the weapon is not out of the realm of possibilities but probably something you won't do until reaching rank 2 at least for Class I God Weapon.

Something to keep in mind for Class I God Weapon, to "keep" the weapon whenever you manage to get it (probably through a quest/journey) , you will need to spend 25 destiny points. Class II and III have lower costs but I don't remember them from the top of my head and can be obtained a little more easily since some clans even forge them.

Yeah it's not as hard as it sounds really. Essentially there is this advantage called Possession, which gives plot protection to your possessions, so even if they get stolen/destroyed etc...you will get a replacement for the item fairly quick. The cost of possession varies depending on the item in question of course.
